High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

We did not have a good experience at this Applebee's. Our server was new, which we understood. But when he was unsure of what salad dressings they had- he didn't try to go find out, he just said " if we don't have that, what do you want?" he got our order wrong and brought out the wrong salad. Again, he didn't try to fix it.. He tried to convince us that the fresh berry salad does have shrimp on it. We ate it anyway. He brought us out ice cream to make up for the mistake, and we had to ask him to take the "free" ice cream off our check. We paid for our meal with a 20 and. Think he assumed that the the $5.00 change was his tip because we had to go and ask him for our change. The bathrooms were not clean either.

Hmm.... Well, we were passing through Beckley and decided to stop here for a bite. I had the soup and salad. The soup was cooler than lukewarm, and the salad had way too much meat. The salad portion should be bigger too. Yes, I know it says all-you-can-eat soup and salad, but a bigger salad would have been nicer from the get-go. The waiter was inexperienced, though friendly. He forgot the bread that came with our two meals, and he didn't know what other salad there was for the soup-and-salad meal, so I asked him to see the menu. Overall, a rather mediocre experience.

I typically have good experiences at Applebees in general. I think this one was maybe having an off night after having a few days without power thanks to the June 29th Derecho storm. Our server Justin was awesome. My friend and I had a few issues with our food, but Justin was quick to get the manager to take care of things in the kitchen and make things right.

Love Applebee's and the food but this particular restaurant was not what I expected. The waitress was nice but very inexperienced, my drink was wrong and they never came to check on me but once the whole 50 minutes I was there. After I ate I expected my check. I got a check with a container of ribs that I never ordered. I just may come back but with some advice to the manager.

Ambivalent about how to review this dinner. We were staying at a hotel up the road after a 8 hour drive, my husband, 2 kids and myself. We got to the restaurant at about 6:30, still pretty busy with dinner traffic. We were seated cheerfully and quickly. The wait person stopped by promptly and got our drink orders. After ordering he kept coming back to see if we were "still ok?". Well, yes except for not having any food yet. He stopped by after a long while to say that they had a big to go order backing everything else up but we'd be ready soon. Stopped by again to say that everything was ready except my husband's wrap. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Finally brought out the kids' mac and cheese and corn dog. Mac and cheese looked awful, as most $5 kids' menu mac and cheese does, but 6 year old said it was good. Husband's wrap came out, but my order had to be remade as the kitchen apparently made the wrong thing. Waiting, waiting, waiting. My Jalepeno Lime Shrimp finally arrived. I'm not going to lie, it was delicious. Didn't quite fit the description- I saw not identifyable zucchini or marinated tomatoes, but the shrimp was good and the veggies were flavorful. At this point, happy with our food, but not so much with the wait we debated complaining. The wait person brought our check and both adult entrees were free. A very nice surprise since the manager wandering the floor had seemed to be consciously ignoring us. So overall, very good food, very nice staff, but maybe not so well organized. Seeing the other reviews, I see that we were far from alone in our issues. Can't complain about how it ended up though.

We stopped at the Beckle, WV Applebees on a rainy Friday night at about 7:00. The Outback Steakhouse across the street said they had a 1 hour wait for a table and - personally - there are no chain restaurants where I'll wait an hour for a table. That's how we ended up at Applebees. The hostess told us that the wait for a table would be 15-20 minutes. While we were waiting, I observed that there were 8-10 empty tables in the dining room and there appeared to be some dissension among the 3 hostesses as to who would control the waiting list. When another patron asked about all the empty tables, one of the hostesses was overheard telling them "we can't seat anyone until the kitchen gets caught up". We were eventually seated after about 20-25 minutes and our waiter said "we just had a bus load and we really got slammed." Service was on the slow side but was tolerable. My wife and I both had their Quesadilla burger special (1 w/ fries, 1 w/ broccoli) and it took forever for the food to come out. Once the food did arrive, it was quite good. There were 10 beers on the menu (7 generic beers like Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, etc. and 3 decent beers). I ordered a Blue Moon (that was one of the 3 decent ones) and the waiter came back a few minutes later and said they were out of Blue Moon. While we were waiting to be served, the manager made one trip thru the dining room asking others how they were enjoying their meals. We never saw her again once we were served. As we left, I spotted her standing near the back of the bar. Overall - the food was GOOD; the service was POOR and the overall experience left me thinking that an hour wait across the street might not have been a bad idea.

Every year on the sunday after memorial day ,we stop in beckley wv and saty the night we are a large group and we usually choose a spot to we eat dinner . This year was applebees. Our waitress was more than polite and helpful she apoligized over and over for any issues. The food is not the best . The steaks seemed to be microwaved and then thrown on the grill to create some marks. Unimpressed to say the least

Seated immediately. Not busy. After 15 minutes a server finally took our drink order. Came back 5 minutes later and said she handed our table off to another server. After waiting another 10 minutes we left.

Took over an hour to get our food. Chicken penne was dry and the chicken wasn't burnt. Stopped only cause it was right near hotel and wouldn't recommend. Manager was taking names when you walked in but she was making jokes about the workers. Not the usual Applebee's experience but hey it is chain food

Tried to have a meal and some beers while watching Monday night football but server kept bringing us the check after every beer. We only had three beers and was there an hour at their high top. We thought she was trying to get out of there but after we gave up and was leaving we saw here get a new table. We where very nice to her! Never had that happen. Wouldn't Applebee's want are $$?

We arrived around 545 to a half full restaurant, we quickly seated and greeted by Crystal who was a pleasant and good. This is where the nightmare began and snowballed from there. Our mozz sticks arrived 40 minutes later, followed by a spinach dip 15 minutes after that. A tall, intimidated manager dropped off the spinach dip with and briefly apologized as he attempted to run away as fast as possible. We had a party of 5 adults and 4 hungry children so when told the kitchen was going down by our server, I asked if we could order another spinach dip assuming it would be delivered before our entrees which were over an hour at this point. Crystal, who was clearly annoyed by the kitchen, said she would ask her manager to get us one on the house because of our long wait. The entrees beat the spinach dip arriving an hour and a half after ordering. This is when I began to get extremely agitated. The kids burgers where inedible burnt to a crisp, with rock hard buns also burnt. Apparently on the grill for the entire hour and a half. The 3 asian salads were okay but obviously in the window for a long time with ice cold chicken and soggy lettuce. The shrimp pasta was ice cold also and cooled into a big sticky mound. I had the blackened chicken penne which was hot but tasted like pure garlic. I was hoping to feed my kids and hit the road with some daylight left to get through the hills into ohio. I asked to speak to the manager in charge when a timid girl who looked 16 years old approached the table nonchalantly, as if hour and a half entrees that were burnt and cold where her expectation. She never apologized or offered any resolution but proceeded to scrutinize the burnt burgers by peeling open staring at it with a confused look. She continued by assuring us that "they were doing there best to get the food out and it had been a long day"?? I am an executive restaurant manager and cant imagine admitting this to a table with out some resolve. I realize that days like these are conceivable, however a management team is in place to solve issues like this with at least some idea of what they are doing. It is quite apparent to me that this was not an isolated incident at this location in Beckely West Virginia. The reason I cant fill out the survey with a valid 9 digit number is because at this point my party of 9 proceed to stand up leaving our "food" on the table and proceeded to Mcdonalds for an edible burger for the kids. I am not a complainer but this was a joke. Poor management=horrible experiences.

This location is close to the highway however service is slow. They squeezed 7 of us into a booth, took forever to get drinks (and some were forgotten.) I think if a restaurant is off of the highway food should come out a little faster because most people are stopping in while driving. Luckily the food was good and cheap.

This is a bad Applebee's. I like Applebee's, but the chain is not consistent. Fortunately we have a great one here in Sandusky. But, like so many others, we're on a long trip home from the Carolinas and stopped in here for a break. Long wait for a beer, salad was never put in, took forever to get the bill. It's not about the people, it's about the process. There's a way to handle this without pissing everyone off! These folks seemed motivated to provide decent service but they don't have the tools or the system to make it happen. Wake up! It's not rocket science.

Quite possibly the worst experience ever. We were driving through Beckley on Monday night, and we were looking for somewhere easy and familiar to stop. When we went in we were the only people waiting for a table, and the restaurant was only about 20% full. It took about 10 minutes for someone to finally come over and seat us, even though there were at least 6 staff members standing around. A waitress took our drink order and eventually brought them to us, then took our dinner order. After waiting another 30 minutes for our dinner (burgers and grilled cheese), we asked the waitress how much longer dinner would be, explaining that we had a long drive ahead of us and needed to get going. We waited another 10 or 15 minutes and finally had to walk out (during this time our waitress never even returned to give us an update). What was most frustrating through all of this, was that several people that came after us were all getting served their dinners. We have been to all sorts of restaurants and are use to waiting sometime, when things get busy or maybe when they are short staffed. But this resteraunt was neither. It was 3/4 empty and had more than enough staff.

I ordered lunch for our office. I paid 12.00 for a sirloin on the 600 cal menu. It didn't have the tomatoes and the steak is very hard to chew. I am very disappointed.

Amazing atmosphere, and new appetizers. The manager came by our table and introduced himself also taking care of us. Our server Sharita was great. Always checked on us and made sure everything was correct. The new appetizers were good, the double crunch wings aren't that much crunchier but still good wings. The Siracusa shrimp is incredible. The s'mores churro is well worth the money!

We stopped here on our way home from vacation. We waited maybe 10 minutes to be seated, as the restaurant was fairly busy. We waited another 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Our waitress was nice and apologetic, however. I ordered the nachos with no pico and no spicy queso. My boyfriend ordered some kind of cheesy pasta with honey chicken and a side of onion rings. The waitress informed him they had none of the sauce that's supposed to go on the chicken and that they do not have just sides of onion rings. Strange. My nachos came out smothered in pico and the nachos themselves were completely soggy and limp. She offered to take them back "because of the pico", but we had already waited 20 minutes and my boyfriend and I were starved. Why even bring the food out if it's not correct? My boyfriends pasta was just that- pasta. You couldn't even taste cheese on them. The saddest part of this experience was the bill was almost $40. I literally cringed paying for the meal, and I paid with a gift card! I will definitely NOT be back.

Wow. I'm not sure what happened here, but this experience was so bad it was actually comical. Good grief, where do I start? We were a party of six and first of all, four items we ordered were not available, because they were "out" (Green Bean Crispers, Mountain Dew, Apple Juice, and the bread for the Cheesy Bread Pizza). Of course we didn't know this until our waitress came back four times and one-by-one told us that they were not available. When we did get our meal: 1) my shrimp was room temperature and a soggy 2) One in our party's salad was served on a HOT plate, 3) my daughter's chicken quesadilla was extremely sparse on the filling (one section had no filling at all). They suggested that the Cheesy Bread Pizza be served on ordinary bread. Seriously? We finally settled on a tortilla, which was edible, but not very good. To their credit, the manager did come out and apologize and they took the Cheesy Bread Pizza off the bill. And our waitress was very friendly and apologetic - which is the only reason why I'm giving two stars instead of one. Come on, Applebee's. You can do better than this.

Second time in here in two weeks. Service is mixed at best. Ordered soup with a steak - medium. Took a long time for the soup to come out, and 30 seconds later, here came my steak... I asked the server to have them keep the steak warm while I finished my soup. When I did get the steak, it was both cold and undercooked. I didn't finish it, and the server didn't ask if it was ok or if I wanted a box for it, just took it without a word. No manager came to check on my status. I for one will not hurry back. Definitely not up to normal Applebys standards.

Stopped by for an early lunch. Service was slow, all four entrees were not appealing or tasty... Wilted, spotted lettuce, sparce strawberries and avocados in salad, burned fries, chicken entree nothing more than frozen chicken finger with a drizzle of honey... Dessert -- don't bother. The only thing good was an apologetic waitress and a comped meal.

Probably the worst dining experience of my life, and my wife and I eat out A LOT, and and we're in our mid-40's. A timeline of this horrible experience: 1) Stopped at 4pm on Labor Day, while making a long drive. Hostess seemed great at the time, but in hindsight, maybe she was incompetent as well. 2) Sat for FIVE minutes without even being acknowledged by a server. There were at least six to seven employees sitting around or rolling silverware ignoring us. 3) Server finally arrives and takes drink order. Kids get milkshakes with no straws about five minutes later. 4) Two servers (including our server) can be heard discussing not wanting to take tables in hopes of being cut early, which was weird, because these two just arrived on their shifts. 5) Server takes order but stops in the middle to discuss who is taking a table with other server. Server takes order and apologizes for delays. This place was not busy at all. There were probably 7-8 tables in the entire place, with at least that many servers. 6) Appetizer arrives 40 minutes after we sat down. FORTY minutes. Mozzarella sticks were hollow and looked like they cooked under a heating lamp. 7) Another 20 minutes pass. Our server had been avoiding us and all her tables the entire time. I get up and finally ask the server about the food. She said she was sorry but the kitchen was screwing it up. The manager knew this was going on, and apparently, with other servers as well, but never came out to communicate anything to anyone. 8) To no surprise, only half the food arrives about 70 minutes after we sat. Fish and chips -no tarter sauce. My wife's turkey sandwich had a crumbling bun, and actually looked like someone took a bite out of it. My daughter's buttered pasta came out with pepper sprinkled all over it, and five minutes after everyone else's meal. They couldn't even get noodles and butter right. My son's chicken fingers came out fine though so at least they didn't screw that up. A side of steamed broccoli arrived after everyone was done eating. 9) Asked for check as dinner arrived because I knew that would take them time. It still took them ten minutes after we were done eating -so probably 20 minutes to get a check. 10) Server comped us for the two kid's meals and apologized again. We still left $3 on a $27 check. I tip 20% 99/100 times. This was the most pathetic operation I've ever seen in my life. The server, while polite and said she was sorry, truly did not care about her tables. It wasn't just her either. It seemed to be most of the employees. Whatever you do, avoid this place. The service sucked and the food sucked. I'd rather eat dinner at a gas station. One hour and 45 minutes later, we were back on the road, when it should never be more than 30-45 minutes.

Worst experience at Applebee's. Took a while to be acknowledged at all. Finally seated but took 20 mins to get a menu and another 10 mins to order. And I might add it was not at all crowded. 55 mins in, finally got food and it was awful. Reuben was so salty as to be inedible, my husband ordered a steak medium, was well done and tough. My brother had a chicken dish with mushrooms which he said wasn't too bad - which was the best any of us could say. Mostly a neighborhood bar so only go for a beer and absolutely nothing more. And don't expect to get it fast.

Delicious lunch with friends today. Had a great time with the manager and staff! We laughed so hard our faces hurt! Would highly recommend!

Awesome dinner tonight. They were also playing poker. Great place to hang and enjoy some cold beers with my friends.
