Driving through, got a Jones for pho. Glad we stopped. We were the only round eyes in the place - always a good sign. Very tasty pho, some of the best I've had. Boston, NYC, DC - this is the best. Broth is excellent, even before it get doctored up with chilis and other sauces. Huge portions, I couldn't finish the XL bowl - first time that's ever happened to me (6'1", 260 lb). Monster portion of noodles, and more meat (steak and meatballs) than I've ever had. Really fantastic. Wait staff was bored and lazy, and unfortunately the place was filthy. Everything sticky, grimy floor, dirty walls. It really doesn't take much to keep an establishment clean, very disappointing. But oh so tasty!

First you notice about this place is that it smells very dirty. Food is average; ok for a Pho restaurant, it's connected to a Asian food store. This restaurants is just nasty, it's not the kid of place you would want to bring some with a compromised immune system or small child to eat. Very disorganized fixtures.... Booooo u suck pho 76, service a usual in a Vietnamese restaurant is horrible; I've come to realize this is a cultural thing.

Worst service ever. No greetings or even a thank you. I only ordered one thing to go as I was just dropping by to go up north. Waited over 15 mins for papaya salad to go.

Best Pho I have had since leaving the DC region. Really good broth, all of the fun meats I love- tripe, fatty tendon, the works. They don't skimp on the meat either. Price is great $8 for a large, more than enough food for me. NOT OPEN on Mondays. Made that very sad mistake tonight. Nothing worse than being hungry with a wicked noodle craving only to find the place closed.

I travel around for work and I was looking for some good authentic pho. Only problem was... Where was I going to get it in Wausau, Wisconsin? I looked up reviews and Pho 76 was pretty much the only place that showed up. My host at the Rosenberry Inn said that this place was amazing and offered me a ride because parking is hard to find. I was pleasantly surprised by the food! The interior is subpar compared to other restaurants, but it's a hole-in-the-wall establishment. It's connected to a grocery store which was kind of odd to me, but I really went for the food. I ordered a combo appetizer which included a spring roll and two egg rolls ($3.75) and a large steak pho. I don't remember exactly how much the steak pho was but I know my overall total was under $12. Overall, the food was amazing. The spring roll was fresh and surprisingly huge for one serving. The egg rolls were crisped to perfection. The pho broth was flavorful and it came with an abundance of meat and noodles. I honestly had a hard time finishing it because there was so much. Overall, if you're going just for the food - 5 stars! Service and decor make it 4 stars.

The pho here was pretty good. The service was ok. We walked in and stood around for a while and nobody greeted us so we just sat down and were greeted soon after that. I was hoping to be in and out of here a little bit faster. The place seemed pretty busy though.

I have been here twice. The first time it was great. I came back last night around 6 pm. I noticed they closed at 7 pm which is odd for a restaurant that already has the local Hmong community praising its pho. Last night, I ordered the appetizer combo sample that came with a spring roll and two pork egg rolls and the special pho. The appetizer was good but I was actually disappointed in my pho noodles because they were a bit hard and not soft. I didn't complain about it because the pho broth was amazing and I was starving. I'll certainly come back because I like to support local small "mom and pop" restaurants and I hope it does a better job at preparing the pho noodles. It's a minor mistake to serve hard pho noodles and can easily be fixed. Overall, I give this restaurant 4 stars because it has a simple menu, quick service, cheap prices and the pho broth is excellent. I've lived in Milwaukee for about 6 years and I have some great pho in Milwaukee and in Chicago. Pho 76 can compete with those restaurants in terms of pho preparation as long as they don't serve hard noodles. I see great potential in this restaurant and I hope that it grows into a much larger restaurant in Wausau, serving a heavily populated Hmong community. Currently, Pho 76 is in a hidden location and the only way your going to see it is through word of mouth or online. They don't have any local advertisements. Also, it's a tiny restaurant with very limited seating.

We took a 5 minute drive from Granite Peak ski resort to try this place out, and were not disappointed - value for money at this place is great. I ate the Seafood Pho. It was delicious but had too much noodles and too few vegetables. Ask the waiter to see the bowl size. This meal is relatively huge, and is a main course, not the average soup you would expect. I also got the spring roll, which was OK. I was surprised it was served cold, but that's just me. The restaurant furniture and settings is probably as cheap as it gets, so this isn't a place for a business meeting or any sort of meeting besides getting a really good meal for less than $10. Would definitely come back here next time I'm in the area.

I've eaten at most pho restaurants from Eau Claire to Green Bay and Pho 76 is up to par or better. As good as it gets in the surrounding area based on 3 things: portion size, cost is low, and taste is great. The establishment is connected to an Asian grocery store. This is a family run business. Ok, décor is not great however go for the food. The service is ok. You are allowed you sit where you want, you pay when you're ready, they don't attentively check up on you but they do refill drinks. Hey, that's all what I need. I don't want people hovering over me while I'm eating. I'm more worried about the curious faces that look at you when you eat because the tables are kind of close to each other. All the seating are tables, no booths. It's all plopped in one room. Service is fast and prices are decent. I like that their menu is simple. They don't have 1000 items. You can choose from pho, spring rolls, egg rolls, curry noodles, papaya salad, Bun (vermicelli) salad, a few rice platters, and of course a drink or tapioca dessert. They have flavorful meaty crispy hot egg rolls - not like the Hmong egg rolls that are oily and filled with bland vermicelli noodles. I'd say 85% of the people that dine here are happy with the taste of the broth. You'd get a few who prefers more spices but I'm not one of those to complain. If you feel you can make better broth, go home and make it. I am far too lazy to boil water, spices, meat, and bones for several hours to come up with an "authentic" flavor. The "nuoc cham" sauce for the Bun salad is delicious and the grilled meat is well seasoned. Don't be discouraged by it's location, the ambience, the weird people that eat here (I'm one of them). Two bowls of pho and a combo appetizer of 2 egg rolls and a spring roll set us back under $20. Cheers!

I have been here many times during my trip to Minneapolis. Food and taste are excellent, price is low, service is bad, always busy, kind of dirty, sometimes really dirty and messy, but what do you expect for a small city? I am ok with some good noodle soup during a long travel.

A worthy effort, but I've had better pho elsewhere... Sliced beef was overcooked, and I could not find any tripe in the bowl I had. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out as excellent, either.

Nice place, friendly service. Had the XL round steak pho, very fragrant and tons of noodles and beef, super value! Paired with one pork and shrimp spring roll, that was one huge meal. They do a great job, we will be back!

The quintessential hole in the wall and a real surprise in the middle of Wisconsin. Great portion sizes and an authentic feel. A great find.

Best Pho ever! Very authentic and a great value. The location is a bit hidden but it is very popular. Spring rolls are humongous. Foe leas than $20, two people will be stuffed. The menu is small and simple but the food is large in size complex in flavor. If you like pho then you need to go here now :-)

I always have great pho here.... They never let me down. Recommend the combo pho. You can probably find me here at least once a week. Keep it up !

As a Vietnamese girl coming from California, I wasn't expecting much, but I was actually VERY happy with the pho that I got here! Its DELICIOUS and very authentic!!!! Their portion sizes are HUGE!!! It's not expensive at all though! You can seriously feed three people with a large order which is under 15 bucks. It's so worth it!

I was in the mood for a nice bowl of Pho. I walked into the place after the lunch rush, and there seemed to be one person doing all the front-of-house work: taking orders, running food, working the register, fielding take-out orders, etc., etc. He was doing his best, but it did take quite some time to get food ordered. Now, I am as into a dive-y food joint as the next person--in fact, some of my favorite places have been some of the diviest. But cleanliness is another matter. Oh my. As I sat at my table waiting for my food, I wondered when the walls had last been cleaned. Those lovely white walls show all the food splashes to such great advantage, you know? Not appetizing at all. I ordered the #1 pho. I thought the broth was bland--even after loading it up with all the fixings and a giant squirt of Sri Racha. Standout: the eye of round was very good. The portions are also HUGE: I ordered the third largest size, and it was still WAY too much for me to eat. But the bottom line is that I've had better. So if I take the entire experience into account, I'd have to give this place a resounding "Meh."

Enjoyed lunch here earlier this week after flying in to CWA. The atmosphere and service leave a bit to be desired, but the food more than make up for it. We both enjoyed #1 regular size - which was much more than either could eat, could have easily split. Great flavor, and fresh spring rolls! Would visit again!

Vietnamese food! Yes I was very excited, I moved from CA to the Midwest a few years back and have been living a meager existence without Vietnamese food. I happened to be in Wausau for work and saw that this little sleepy town had a Vietnamese restaurant tucked into a nondescript strip mall. This restaurant lacks a lot in way of decor but there were a handful of people in there enjoying Pho on a cold winter night, so how could I resist. The menu was limited but they had everything I was looking for, spring rolls and vermicelli noodles with pork. Was it the best Vietnamese I have ever had? No. Was it good enough to satisfy my hunger? Yes. Would I go back? Yes. I found the food to be plentiful and flavorful, give it a shot you might just find out you like something you didn't know about.

Good pho for a warm lunch time break from skiing. Quiet and out of the way. Spring rolls were excellent. Worth a stop each time you are in town.

I must say, this is my "Heaven On Earth"! I love Pho and this is by far, the best place to eat it. I've been to many pho establishments in neighboring towns and states... and have always come back here. The restaurant is attached to an Asian Grocery Store, in fact they are owned by the same owners it seems. The place is a bit small and divey with 10 tables at most with 4 chairs per table. This place is great during weekday lunch time, but horrible during the weekends and weekday peak hours of 4-6 PM due to limited seating. If you happen to walk up to the door and notice a line of 4 or more people, come back in 40 minutes. The restaurant's main dish is Pho and there are about 6 options and 4 bowl sizes. I normally get the Extra Large Pho Combo with extra Tendon. This gives me a very large bowl of Pho with a generous amount of trip, flank steak, beef meat balls, crab meat balls, shrimp, tripe, tendon, steak, and octopus. The broth is not too sweet, but yet has that tad bit of acidic taste to it. I personally think that the broth handles itself pretty well without the need to add any other additives, except for saracha and fish sauce. There is usually one waiter, who takes your orders quickly. There is on average 2-3 people in the kitchen, so you will get your food very quickly. The appetizers are either two eggrolls (home made), two spring rolls (white with shrimp & beef), or the combo, which is two eggrolls and one spring roll. This restaurant is not open on Monday and is closed at 7:00 PM, so other than that, they are open and do receive a lot of business. My only gripe about this place is the fact that there is limited seating. Sure the walls could use some work and the place isn't well decorated to set the mood... but that's the least of my worries since the Pho is so good. I highly recommend this place, but don't go with any groups larger than 4 or expect to wait for a while.

While the location, and facilities, are lacking; the food is not. Excellent! We bring a group of 8-10 employees here and it's always good. However don't expect it to be fast. I think there's one person in the kitchen or something. Expect lunch there to be a solid hour from ordering to going back to work. But it's worth it occassionally.

I haven't had pho since I lived in Minneapolis. And that was only once, and it was to-go so who knows if I prepared it right. A co-worker and I stopped by Pho 76 tonight while on break from work. My friend/co-worker doesn't know that I was actually enrolled in the Culinary Art of America in Hyde Park, New York prior to becoming a law enforcement officer again. So, he told me all about pho, and I listened as if it were for the first time. I didn't correct his pronunciation of pho as that is unimportant. Anyway, I ordered the #1 pho, as well as the appetizer combo which consisted of 2 egg rolls and one spring roll. Those were great. Love the peanut sauces. So, the pho arrived. Bliss ensued. I don't always eat all the tendon and tripe but oh my god. The broth. I debated taking it with me. Hot pho potentially driving at very high speeds resulting in a crash would be a waste of pho. I will definitely be coming back for more. The restaurant is part of an Asian food store, but I was working, and wanted pho. I go pho. Who cares. Some reviews stated the wait staff was rude. I did not find that to be the case. The staff was great - but maybe that's because I was in uniform. Who knows. Loved it. Pho 76 has a great pho, and wow, they are the only place in Wausau selling it? Go to Pho 76! Enjoy.

I stopped for take-out on my lunch break and got the chicken pho. I had dined in at Pho 76 a couple of times in the past. My takeout order was ready in less than 15 minutes even though the place was packed. This restaurant is joined with a grocery store so I was able to pick up a few things there while I was waiting. The chicken pho was delicious and they did a great job of packing it to go, separating the broth from the rest of the stuff to keep it fresh. Luckily I had a nice large bowl to combine it in at my office because both of the take out containers were completely full. The portions are generous and the prices extremely reasonalble (w/ tax my order came to just $5.22). What I love about this pho is the really fresh flavor of the broth and the freshness of all of the extras (jalapenos, basil, lime, etc.)

Excellent food.. Very casual, what I would call a hole in the wall. If I lived locally I would frequent this establishment.

Don't go for the service. Don't go for the decor. Go for the food -- top notch stuff. At the prices, this little hole-in-the-wall is really worth looking for. The spring rolls showed up at the same time as my wife's noodles with pork. But they were great - crunchy sprouts, several sizable shrimp, and a wonderful hint of mint. Wife's pork and noodles was an excellent ( and generous) dish, with plenty of noodles, sprouts and lettuce. The pork was tender and tasty, but the spicing was pretty subtle. Not what I expected, but very good. My wife had finished more than half her dinner before mine showed. My "full boat" pho was most excellent on a cold winter night. The spicing out of the kitchen IS a bit bland, but the sides of basil and sprouts tuned it right up. With a slice a jalapeño dropped in and removed after about five minutes, I was loving it! The bowl was packed with noodles, beef, tripe, tendon, etc. I could actually have enjoyed a little less everything else with a little more broth. Note that the "regular" size is probably two quarts of soup. The "large" that I ordered was easily 2 1/2 quarts -- really generous portions!

I would easily say this is one of the Best Vietnamese Restaurants in central Wisconsin. This place is truly a hidden gem. The food is VERY reasonably priced, freshly made, and is very healthy. The staff are genuinely nice people & not overwhelming. The portions are large, and the presentation is fun. Truly a great value for your money. My favorite dish is the Rice Vermicelli w/ Egg roll and pork.

Don't know what all the hype is but definitely not worth going to since I can make BETTER PHO, egg rolls and Bahn Mi at home!!! This is NOT authentic Vietnamese food, if anyone is looking for authentic look elsewhere. Third time eating at this so-called "Vietnamese food imitation" place and they consistently serve bland food! We purchased Combination Pho which the soup is bland, the seafood selection is a laugh, and egg rolls were drenched in oil and tasteless. Spent more money than I wanted to but next time when I am in the Wausau area, will save that money on getting myself a better Pho bowl and Vietnamese food experience some place else. Perhaps for being the only so-called imitation Vietnamese restaurant in Wausau with "OK" Pho, then I give this place a 1 star for trying. Not from this area, but definitely need more competition and a better Pho restaurant..just saying!!!

  • Ranji G.

For the area, food is good. Spring rolls were tasting. Pho comes in huge portions! Pho is a little bland no matter how much side sauce you put in it, they need to have a side of beef paste for soups. They only had soy sauce, oil, hoisen sauce, sugar, chilli paste, black pepper for seasoning on the side. Fast service. Floors, walls, tables are not clean well. There were ants crawling on our table.

During a recent visit at Aspirus hospital, my siblings and I were looking for something hot, inexpensive, and tasty. When I saw "Pho" with 4 stars nearby, I decided to treat my sibs to a new experience. I regularly go out for Pho in the DC area and I have eaten at dozens of Pho places over the years, but I didn't have very high expectations for good Pho in central Wisconsin. I was pleasantly surprised! It wasn't the best Pho of all time, but it was VERY good. I had my usual (eye of round and tripe), while my brother had meatball and my sister had just eye of round. Most Pho places have 2-3 sizes, but this one had FOUR. Their extra large is WAY bigger than any other Pho I've had. It was like eating a vat of soup! I had the large and could not finish it. The broth was very flavorful, although not exquisite. The ingredients were spot on. The bean sprouts were fresh, as was the thai basil, jalapeños, lime, cilantro, thinly sliced onion, etc. Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere was plain, but clean. The price was excellent. This place is definitely off the beaten path. I would have never found it without Yelp. If I lived in the area, I would definitely become a frequent customer.

First of all, Rosecrans St. is near Marathon Park, WPS, the Great Dane Pub, Happy Mac, or the corner of 17th Ave. & Thomas St., whatever works for you. The restaurant is hidden in a strip mall....look for the Asian writing on the Super International Grocery Store sign. Once you find it, order this....(1) order of Egg Rolls, (1) Vietnamese Pork Sandwich and (1) order of Rice Vermicelli Noodles w/ Pork (enough food for 2 people). Enjoy and thank me later....

I travel to Schofield for work once a month and was delighted to find an authentic Pho Noodle house. The broth is well flavored and the beef isn't dry and tough like many other noodle house. Their spring rolls are tasty as well. I make sure I stop by here whenever I am in town. My only complain is that they close at 7, which is way too early! :)
