This place sucks. I went here for breakfast on a cold, ugly rainy morning and ordered the #9 pork producers breakfast which sounded good with a biscuit in gravy and shredded hash browns. Service was decent. I thought it was kind of dumpy. #9 was thick cut bacon, fake ham, smoked sausage and two eggs. The Ham was dry. The sausage very salty. The bacon was so hard my fork had a hard time stabbing into it. The hash browns were nice and crispy. The eggs had the runny yoke. The biscuit and gravy was average. I noticed nothing was remotely warm or hot and the warmest thing on the table was the ice water. The food didn't take long to hit the table so how could it all be room tempter, it should have just come off the grill piping hot. It hit me, it's all pre made like a buffet and slapped on the plate and sent out. Just look at the two eggs, they are two separate eggs where every where else you get both eggs blended together. Look at the presentation of the plate, it looks like it was slapped together. To get cold food on a cold rainy morning when I expected a nice warm meal to take the chill off was disappointing. I can't remember ever not getting warm/hot food for breakfast. Everything for the most part tasted fine but I was turned off by the fact that it's all pre cooked like a buffet. See the pictures. This will not be a stop I will ever make again and two thumbs down. The portions are not huge like other reviews have stated see the pictures.

Maybe it is me but it just did not float my boat. Okay and service was friendly but it is not just was not tasty.

The prices here are average for a sit down restaurant, about $40 for 2 people. Most of the food here is decent, however, the brisket was extremely dry. I was very disappointed. It tasted like beef jerky more than any brisket I have ever had. The service was alright, nothing to write home about though.

I've never wanted a Texas Roadhouse more in my life. Crummy prime rib, watery potatoes. Highlight of the meal was the baked apples brought as the appetizer. And the Spotted Cow beer on tap.

Visited 6/4/12... For those that do not know what this location is, very similar to Cracker Barrel. I went here because it is next to the hotel where I am staying for business travel. Very disappointing. I wish I had taken time to go back to the room and get my rental car keys and go find a better location. This is supposed to be a comfort food type of place. Meat Loaf, Fried Chicken, Pot Pies, etc. Tonight I had the Stuffed Pork Loin. It was the special for the night. Figured that I could not go wrong.. But I was wrong!!! The meal comes with Family Fixings. Includes Cottage Cheese, Cole Slaw, Bread. The roll that is the bread was a day old roll, or at least that's what it felt and tasted like. Not warm. Hard, to the point I could barely pull it apart with my hands. The main dish came with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans. The beans were about the best part of the meal and even those were over cooked. Finally, the Pork Loin. Bad!! Extremely dry. Like it has been sitting for hours. The sage stuffing over powered everything. The only way I was able to eat it was because of the gravy over the top. For the nightly special, it was very sad.. Service was friendly. The young girl that was the waitress was very attentive and friendly. Up until I was ready for the check. Then she was no where to be found for many minutes. Overall, my opinion is that this location is a tourist kind of trap. Next to a couple of hotels that have limited other choices for restaurants. Souvenir shop which offer commercialized items much like Cracker Barrel. Tomorrow night... I will take the time to drive somewhere else!!! P.S. Over the last few reviews I have found myself making mental excuses for a restaurant where I go in shortly because of closing. I find myself thinking that maybe it will be better if I come in during more regular times. No More!!!!! If you are going to seat me, you better be prepared to serve me a good meal!! If something is not good, then tell me!! Tell me you are out of it or simply tell me it is not good tonight. And I will choose something else off the menu. Otherwise, be prepared for a poor review!!

Just got home from lunch and felt the need to write this review. It's Friday and I had a yen for a fish fry. It's not always easy to find a traditional Friday fish fry that starts early. My favorite location in Lannon was closed so I had to try some place new. I have always enjoyed a Machine Shed breakfast so I decided to give their fish fry a try. Lucky for me they have a lunch and dinner fish fry. I don't know what the difference between the two is, other than the price, since they are both all you can eat. Anyway, the meal came with more items than I was used to; bread basket, cottage cheese, coleslaw, potato(I selected mashed with gravy), green beans, and of course the beer battered deep fried cod. The fish was very good. You could tell I got it fresh from the fryer. The cod was meaty firm, and flavorful. The batter was light but quite crispy. The batter could do with some more beer in it but that didn't stop me from having two extra pieces after the original 5 were eaten. I am a fan and will be back soon...

Sunday morning, I went looking for a brunch. A brunch....to me....is an all you can eat extravaganza that includes breakfast and lunch options. None of this pansy, order something off the menu stuff and eat it around 11 or noon on a Sunday......I call that waking up late and ordering breakfast. Screw you hipsters. Round One: Sausage, Bacon, scrambled eggs, cheesey potatoes Round Two: A couple pieces of cherry strudel, more sausage, more potatoes Round Three: Some roasted sirloin, mashed potatoes, corn Round Four: Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn. I officially found the 4 pounds I lost the first week of the year. Food was pretty good, service was exactly what I needed it to be (left us alone, checked on us a few times, made sure water was full) and for 13.99, it was so much more awesome than spending $12 for one entree at one of those hipster douchebag wannabe brunch places. I'm a fan!

Overall, a pleasant place to dine. There are lots of tables here and plenty of room for large groups of meetings. Reasonably priced, no frills, nice service - and the BIGGEST CINNAMON ROLL you'll ever set your eyes on. (I swear, you'd think it was a small loaf of bread.) There's a "country" vibe here and a small store in the front. I've only had breakfast here - but every time, it's been a nice (and HUGE) meal.

We came here because it was close to our hotel. BAD idea. The table was sticky and disgusting and when the waitress came to clean it, she wiped it with a disgusting rag. Table was even more sticky. The food here is not edible and it appears and tastes like can food. The only thing good about this place was our waitress!! I cannot believe they charge people for this food.

Went once only, became ill some hours after eating some ham and cherry nastiness. Was stricken with a bout of extreme vomiting and cramping. The ham dish I ordered tasted strange right off the bat. The only remaining food I was able to choke down was a bite of a cornbread muffin, which btw was saturated with grease. Barf!! My family also disliked the entire spectacle and food. Thanks a lot!

Worst. Meal. Ever. My son and I stopped here based on the yelp.com rating and reviews. He ordered "Burnt Ends" and I ordered the Fried Cod. The burnt ends were just cubed meat in BBQ sauce - not smoked, not charred and not Burnt Ends. I could see the disappointment in his face. My fish tasted like it came right out of a freezer from a Walmart. The breading was so thick that I had to cut it with a knife and when I did, lo and behold - there was some fish in there. My dinner came with a side of mashed potatoes that were covered in some dark brown, thick, incredibly salty jarred gravy. After a brief discussion with my son, I called the server over. I told her that this food was the absolute worst I had ever been served. She asked me if I wanted to order something else from the menu and I looked right at her and said that if this is the kind of food they serve, than no. We said that it was inedible and walked out. I've never had to do that before.

My wife and I stopped by for brunch today and had a decent experience, but the prices were a little high. Their brunch buffet consists of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, eggs, Denver eggs, cheesy hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, pork loin, French toast, salad bar and carving station. The food was good, however their sausage links had been deep fried and the bacon was more on the limp side than the crisp side. The Denver eggs had about an inch of cheese on top which actually made them a little unappetizing. Other than above, everything else was good. Service was good, no issues at all. The only other thing was the price of the buffet, $14.95 per person.

Great waitress. Food was just so-so. Rueben, turkey with bacon sandwich...just ok... hoped for it to be better. Soup was really good. Fries were mushy and not hot. Coffee not good, like old fashioned cafe coffee. Order the tea.

Stopped in for a hearty breakfast with my boys. We need time to get together and have man to man talk. For a chain rest. Machine shed offers a number of great breakfast options for an event like this. We chose menu options with eggs, bacon, pancakes and their cheese casserole (it's potatoes, cheese, onion). We washed it down with apple juice and waters. Our server was Dianne, she did a nice job checking back with us making sure we were doing ok after the food arrived. Note: read the menu where it says, if you want more eggs say the magic words "I love eggs" and they add 1 egg at no cost". Our food was delicious with healthy portions on each plate. My only challenge is the cost, we dropped $40 on 3 meals, seems pricy. We only do this event once maybe twice a year. I would go back and I will recommend to friends.

The service was fantastic. We had a huge group (20?) and one server. He was really on the ball. The place was cute, styled after Cracker Barrel but not as crowded. We were there for the sunday brunch which was god-awful. The scrambled eggs were sweet, the biscuits hard, the bacon dry and overcooked, the roast beef flavorless, the sausage links filled with water. Overall, not a good dining experience. Will not return. (Also experienced a bout of bad diarrhea.)

  • Emiliano J.

Sunday brunch was ok. The service is good, but I thought that the brunch was limited in options. There is room to improve. For 14.95 a person you could have a better brunch...

We went to the Machine Shed this weekend after a volleyball tournament. It was a group of 25 of us, when we called a head they said they could set something up for us right away and we headed over. When we got there we were in their back private dining area with two servers. Who main server had clearly done this before and took great control and was so organized keeping everything straight, which I know can be a pain with a group of so many kids. The service alone earned them a star:) The food itself was just ok. They first bring out family style sides-bread, coleslaw, cottage cheese, which was all good. When our food came everything looked good-the salads and burgers were huge. The actually food lacked some flavor though. All in all it was a good decision for the group we had and I would recommend it!

The potato soup is to die for! I drive 30+ minutes to go to the machine shed only for this soup. The rest of the food is fine but nothing that I have come across that would bring me back like the soup. The service experience is interesting but never had an over the top experience. Overall, I suggest coming here for the potato soup but do not have much interest in anything else on the menu.

  • Jeff R.

The worst salad EVER! The BBQ Brisket Salad had very fresh lettuce, but the brisket was dry and they was way too much of the sweet mustard vinaigrette. The dressing also did not compliment the BBQ sauce that was on the Brisket, creating an unappetizing taste. The Beer Cheese Fondue on the other hand was quite good and the Staff was very friendly.

Good, reasonably priced breakfasts and good coffee. It's a real throwback. Tell the great waitresses that you love eggs and get an extra for free. The pork producers special is something else - come hungry! Interesting souvenir shop attached.

Machine Shed is always a solid bet for a yummy, comfort food, stuff-yourself kind of breakfast. The food is always good, the coffee always full, and the service always good. Most recently we stopped at this location on our way from Hartford to Chicago after a wedding. We were *semi* hung-over and starving so this was just the ticket. I love the free extra egg when you say 'I love eggs' when ordering. The cheesy hash browns are good. Not as good as Cracker Barrel's, but still pretty good. The only bad things are that on Sunday mornings, they have a breakfast buffet. The throngs of folks taking part in this make it pretty much definite that if you come later in the morning, they'll be out of several items on the menu (ex: cinnamon rolls). This can be a bummer. Overall a very decent choice when you're looking for a reasonably priced, comfort food breakfast meal.

Absolutely fantastic food. Great prices. Would go time and time again! Went with my family of 7. The food was expertly prepared and served by very knowledgeable wait staff. Fun games available table side for my grandson to keep occupied. Love the burnt ends and ribs. Love the store whuch is like a through back to yesteryear.

I feel like this is a place you either love or hate. I think I fall towards the latter end of that spectrum. I'd gone pub-crawling with some friends the night before our visit so I was seeking a big, greasy, bad for you breakfast with some caffeine to bring myself back to functioning status. Newer to the Waukesha area, I googled and yelped and gave up on picking a place. I love breakfast and feel as though it's pretty tough to screw up. Plus, all I really needed was a few slices of bacon and some runny egg yolks drenched in toast and I'd feel great. I gave up searching for the perfect review, we picked Machine Shed, and headed on our way. It turned out to be Sunday Brunch day, and after a 15 minute wait (I do NOT advocate waiting for food, especially breakfast, in the suburbs. I just usually won't do it) we were seated in an enormous sticky bench. Fine. Sticky benches usually lead to delicious breakfasts. I'm game. We fumbled with the menu for a bit, and didn't get our coffee order in for about 15 minutes or so. Not impressed with the coffee service, especially in the midst of the hangover I was nursing. Our server finally came over and informed us that they had a brunch buffet- all sorts of delicious foods, all of the drinks (N/A) you could stomach, one low price. As I was practically gnawing on the menu at this point, my husband and I decided to just do the buffet. Note: the menu was still offered, which I wish I would have done instead. PSYCH! Bad plan. Bad, bad plan. The cheesy potatoes: Gross. I LOVE cheesy potatoes, but these had some sort of weird chemical flavor to them. I was beyond bummed. Scrambled Eggs: Fine. I could have had an omelette made also, but the line was way too long for that nonsense. I like that one version of the scrambled eggs had bacon and cheese in them. Bacon: Undercooked. I like mine a bit crispy, but it was tough for me to even find a few pieces where I could pick the crispy bits off. You know what I mean. Biscuits and Gravy: Amazing. I had 2 of these and started feeling human again. Enchiladas? Corn? Fried Chicken? What are you doing on a breakfast buffet? The chicken I could see- it's one of the things they're known for. The others were out of place. There was a sketchy looking salad bar, some sausage that my husband was ok with, and waffles, dessert, pancakes- none of which I'm a fan of. I think they had some meat carving stations, but again, the line was so long I didn't get near that area. I was sad. I overpaid for what ended up being a portion of scrambled eggs and a few biscuits with gravy. Beyond that, I was almost MAULED by an apparently very hungry woman in the biscuit line. She jumped in front of me, practically ripped the tongs out of my hand, and grabbed herself a heaping pile while I stood there, mouth agape. I wasn't impressed with the food or the service, and the clientele left much to be desired. Avoid Sundays if you go- I think it's a place for the "how much can I stuff my face with for one low, low price?" crowd. My mistake for doing a buffet, really- but I'm still not going to be volunteering to patronize this place ever again.

EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP. What The Machine Shed does it does very well. It serves comfort food with a schmaltzy Midwest farm decor. It's the very kind of place to take people from L.A. and New York to further the stereotype we all live on farms eating pork chops while wearing Key bib overalls. DON'T EXPECT: Much seasoning. The food is very bland but I suspect this is to appeal to their customer base. TRACTOR RIDES: The kids and even adults can ride on a hay wagon pulled behind a REAL tractor that slowly goes around the parking lot. That's pretty cool. WHY 3 STARS?: The Machine Shed feels like a tourist trap. The entrance and exit is a gift shop filled with overpriced candy and farm souvenirs. The menu boasts that the restaurant is "Dedicated to the American Farmer", but there aren't any mention of local products.

  • Jeff J.

Love the place, like a cracker barrel but nicer. Menu had a great selection. Sadly, the food is only average. The hashbrown casserole has no WOW affect to it. Very bland. The bacon is thick and taste great. Most of the food tasted like it is processed and not homemade. To bad the place has a lot of potential to be great.

We had reservations for Fathers Day and plenty of people went early for the Sunday brunch. We had a wide variety of food from smoked salmon, egg omelets, BBQ ribs, fried chicken, Belgian waffles, French toast. sausage gravy. Too much to list. I did feel that some of the food was overly salted, by no means were they bland. But this might be one of those situations where the buffet is mightier then the entree. Food : 5 great variety. Ambiance : 3 pseudo Crack barrel. I meant to say Cracker barrel. Country charm. Service : 5 great attention to watch over our cups and clear plates. Location : 3 large parking lots close to the hwy. Tip: the early bird gets a seat. Coming after 10 may require extra patience so at least you can shop the country store while you wait. They have WIFI at this location So you can write your reviews or check in. This is not to be confused with the Tool Shed. another interesting place from what read online.

I thought the Machine Shed was just an Iowan thing, but turns out it isn't! I actually saw it the first time on my way out of town to Iowa and then when Mr. Snarky and actually wanted to find it for breakfast, we got lost. Go figure! Anyway, I think Mr. Snarky was pleased with his breakfast, I certainly was. We also ate far too much, but c'est la vie! That was a five star visit, my next visit was not quite five stars, but it was pretty darn good. My second visit was with a friend and her mom. I have been to a fish fry or two in Iowa, but I didn't realize that every Friday is cause for a fish fry here in Cheeseland. I had experienced one, but I never turn down the chance to try another, especially at the Machine Shed. While it was busy, we didn't have to wait to be seated. Service started out good with drink orders being taken and giving us time to look at menus if we wanted to stray from the fish fry. It is an you care to eat fish fry... You can choose the way you want your fish done...beer battered, breaded, or baked. And the nice thing is that they bring reasonable sized pieces and you can just order more if you are still hungry. There are also lots of fixins...bread (one of the breads is a Banana Bread...yum!), cinnamon apples, German Potato Salad, and coleslaw. While I wasn't keen on the German Potato Salad, everything else was great. I chose the Beer Battered fish because when I hear fish fry I want the deep fried, battered stuff! The baked fish looked good and later my friend opted to try the breaded fish and said it was really good. We spent a few hours grazing and chatting, but at some point our waitress disappeared. For awhile she was coming back to top up coffee and water and bring more fish and then all of a sudden she stopped coming to our table altogether. I thought it might have been the end of her shift, but I saw her wandering about, so I am not sure what happened, but needless to say we ran out of drinks and when we wanted to pay we couldn't get our check. Everything was on track to be a five star experience, but service just tailed off. I will say that when my friend's mom did tell the people at the register they apologized and they did offer them some brownies to go. I wouldn't mind another fish fry at the Machine Shed!

We were pleasantly surprised by The Machine Shed. I had went here about ten years ago for a business breakfast and wasn't overly impressed at the time but we tried it for dinner and it impressed both me and my wife. I would recommend if you are in the mood for good American comfort food.

Yum! What a nice breakfast buffet! We swung on into The Machine Shed several weeks ago and were overall quite impressed! The food was quite delicious - big thumbs up for the fried chicken, coconut shrimp, little waffles and bacon! Big thumbs down for the set up - it's a clusterf@*& up there. I even had to save a man from the back of his shirt almost going up in flames from an employee walking around with a huge tray of sterno-like cups. Yikes. They really need to figure out a way to streamline this area. All in all, the food was good and we'd give them another whirl.

It's a lot like Cracker Barrel. A gift shop in front with a Midwest USA theme. Service is always good and food price and quality is predictable. It's faun place to stop for a quick lunch. You are not likely to be disappointed nor will you be wanting to come back soon. Average is okay but at my age looking to be impressed by above average. still, I'd go again if want reasonably priced good food without a long wait.

Can you say gigantic portions! Good foods normally come for the famous baked potato soup brings me back to when I was a kid eating it with my grandpa. Our server was nice as well but a little slows. Good overall experience! Similar to Cracker Barrel!

Wonderful fried fish, huge portion, great servers, good beer on tap, special pricing. Details: I needed to have a phone conversation and food. I asked for these accommodations and was sat away from others so I could talk on the phone without disturbing others and also hear my call. No questions asked and not judged for dining alone or using a cell phone in a dining room. (This is not a practice I like but necessity of time was unavoidable.) I wanted fish but didn't want a dinner (all you can eat option). It was 5 minutes past lunch time and the waitress got me the lunch deal. I wish I remember her name-thanks so much. Perfect portion of crisp, light fried fish, salad bar included for $7ish. Love salad bar and this one was a lunch special. While the bar was loud they had specials. They have a gift shop that was a lot of fun to shop. Neat and some unusual things.

Read the reviews. They definitely oversold the quality of this place. I felt it was a step below Cracker Barrel. I tried the signature pork - - it allegedly won some prize. Let me tell you, it was so basic, so plain, so bland, that must of been a prize given by people who do not know really good tasting pork.

Was out in the area for a week to support a client and needed some serious good grub. The office assistant dropped off a menu for the place for lunch [yay!]. + Fried chicken [lunch portion]: fried chicken is a bit above average but nothing stellar; substitute french fries for the amazing sweet potato fries; steamed sweet corn is delicious + Baked potato soup: I don't know when it qualifies as soup or liquified baked potato, but nom nom + Cookie: as big as your head; careful if you get this with your lunch! Food is hearty and as American as it gets. If you're around this location, it's a must try with a enormous menu.

Based on the great reviews through yelp,we found this great place to eat.it has the feel of cracker barrel but much better.I had the smoked brisket and it was so delicious.my gf had the shrimp & sweet potato fries which she enjoyed.there was one if thing though, my dad ordered the 2 piece pan fried chicken but it came out with gravy all over it.normally pan fried chicken doesn't come that way, oh well he ate it anyway.this place was full when we got there, and we waited 15 minutes but was worth the wait.if I'm ever here again will be stopping here again.this is a family owned business with all homemade food that's made.

Interesting to browse in the shop in the lobby full of Wisconsin souvenirs and unique but reasonable items. I hadn't been to the "Shed" in some years. I was disappointed that they no longer have a Corned beef Reuben on the menu. It was hard to decide but I opted for the Tangy Pork Tenderloin stuffed with sausage. A bit overdone, but the seasoning was just right. Baked potato soup topped with cheese & bacon was very good and quite thick. We noticed a salad bar that wasn't on the menu (no wonder customers weren't flocking around it) so we asked about it. The waitress acted like we should have known all about it. Servers must not have been properly trained. Without the Reuben, I don't think I'll be rushing back for another few years.

While the original location listed here was completely wrong (about 5 miles off, and where the Pewaukee High School is located) and after searching for about 45 minutes (couldn't get clear directions from the staff), I finally made it. If you're on 94, take the 294 exit north, and turn left at the Mobil gas station, the Shed is behind there. The driving around was completely worth it. Good midwestern style hearty food, good atmosphere, good service. The gift shop was also a fun visit. A great place to eat if you're in the Waukesha/Pewaukee area.

A definitely breakfast favorite whenever I am visiting the Microsoft office in Waukesha. Coffee is weak but everything else is down home delicious. VERY generaous potions, so be prepared to come hungry or take a doogie bag :) Service is always super friendly, prompt and attentive. Their homemade strawberry preserves are awesome, can't leave without having it! Tables are like picnic tables, staff is wearing denim overalls, napkins look like picnic tablecoths, very country themed and cute. Free wifi too!! If you are staying at a nearby hotel they even deliver to your room for a nominal fee. Also love their country store. I can get spreachers, candles, old fashioned candy, John Deere toys, it's reminiscent of Cracker Barrel but not as overpriced and touristy.

I came here with a large group and was able to taste multiple dishes...(ah friends!) The pork was on the tough/dry side, the fish was vastly under-seasoned, and the beef was ok. I don't mind the gift shop, or the agriculture theme....but the food should appropriately match it, and there was not much unique about the food. Sorry machine shed, i really wanted to like you too... (the glass jars as cups were a nice touch), maybe I'll give you a second look in the future.

Went here for breakfast. Food was good, I just had eggs, bacon and potatos so not much to write home about here. The bacon is the thick sliced bacon. The atmosphere is similar to Cracker Barrel - but better!

What do you do when you've spent the day in the chilly rain at the Highland Games watching pipers pipe and burly Scots swinging their...um.... Kilts, and throwing their big...um... hammers? You look for a place of warmth and comfort!!!! And that's just what the Machine Shed gave us. I'd never been to MS before, but a couple of our friends insisted on it. I really liked the ambiance. It wasn't too bright, not too dark. Yes, there's a gift shop with a lot of farm kitsch in the front of the place but if you're offended by that sort of thing--which some of the reviewers seemed to be--- then you really need to lighten up. We cooked a whole chicken and veggies that were all farm raised by friends of ours in a 19th century portable wood oven last night for dinner and we still loved the romanticized farm décor of the Machine Shed. I was the only one who didn't have the baked potato soup: but all five of my dining companions raved about it--it looked delicious! I had the roast chicken with garlic mashed potatoes: there were huge chunks of perfectly cooked garlic in them with chives. The green beans were perfectly seasoned and firm (no soggy beans here!) The rolls were fantastic and some sort of pumpkin bread made its way onto my plate that was superb! There were lots of sides which I shared with my partner who was dining on appetizers and soup as a very filling meal. Our waitress was attentive and fun and the whole meal was just wonderful cozy and relaxing. By the time I finished I was stuffed and then I saw one of the waitresses carrying around a plank with desert options on it. The gynormous slice of white chocolate cake looked heavenly but there was no way I could eat even a bit of desert after that heroic dinner. The desert will have to wait for a special trip and I'd love to try the place for breakfast. I really enjoyed my experience here. Sort of out in the middle of nowhere...Love places like that.

I went there once... and never went back. My experience was: 2 expensive, 2 bland, 2 little. My sister just went with a friend of hers. I talked to her later and asked her objectively... "how was the Machine Shed". She said they were disappointed. Too bland, too expensive, too little.

Be aware that you are forced to Enter and Exit through the gift shop ala Cracker Barrel and all the Disney attractions and theme parks. A bit annoying and trite. Large menu that mostly has meat and comfort style foods - ok if that is what you like. I had the Beef Brisket - great taste and aroma but unfortunately was very dry, but the sweet potato fries were excellent. Warm bread and butter excellent as well. From Another Reviewer - WHY 3 STARS?: The Machine Shed feels like a tourist trap. The menu boasts that the restaurant is "Dedicated to the American Farmer", but there aren't any mention of local products.

I had breakfast here while hung-over one morning and it kicked ass. I got two eggs, a ham slice, a char-grilled sausage, some thick-cut bacon, and a couple of pancakes at $9.99. It could have fed three people. The meats were of higher quality than your usual breakfast joint. The pancakes were right on. The atmosphere is pretty silly, with the whole country/farm thing (think Cracker Barrel), but the food was awesome and I had a good time eating way too much. The gift shop is gay. Service was very good.

This is not a place that I would normally think of for a Friday Night Fish Fry but found it to be one of the best tasting FF's around. Everything else that I have ever eaten at the Machine Shed has been very good. The store inside is fun to look around.

Stumbled into this location for breakfast with the family. Oh my goodness -- LOVE this place! LOCAL FARM fresh...HUGE portions, FAIR price, GREAT service! The meat was the star...bacon was the best ever! Leaves places like IHOP in the dust. Gift shop was fun to look at, but will come back for the food! Great for kids too.

im from Texas..so when i found this place..i almost had a heart attack..and after i actually tried this out..i fell in love. I love love this place. to start off, they serve you complimentary bread, sweet potato bread, cole slaw, and cottage cheese. YUM the sweet potato bread is to die for, its so good and its like eating dessert before the meal. the cole slaw was delicious, not thick and drenched in mayo. def. the best complimentary items i've ever gotten I got the pot roast and it was sooo good. the beef was tender and juicy. it also came with mashed potatoes and corn. the portion was gigantic and the flavors were great. these ppl know how to cook comfort food! My friend got the cajun salad and enjoyed it as well. The rest of the menu also sounded delicious. this places offers a wide variety of food for everyone. and to make it even better, at the end of my meal, the waiteress if i wanted to take some of the sweet potato bread to go...so needless to say..i will be returning very very soon. Truly a Milwaukee gem :)

Based on a couple good reviews and a desire for a new weekend breakfast choice we decided to try the Machine Shed. I used to work near here and had only ordered a salad or two for take-out lunch, so I didn't know what to expect for breakfast. We went and had the Sunday brunch, which was typical breakfast buffet fare, including an omelette bar, biscuits and gravy, sausage and bacon and much more. All of the food was delicious, and the kids love it. Service was very attentive and friendly and my coffee cup was never empty. Very good value for the money. We will definitely be returning.

My husband, mother in-law, her sister and I stopped here on Friday. We were very surprised to find a reasonably priced American buffet (12.99 each). There was a guy making omelet, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fruit, waffles, cinnamon rolls... it was all good food. Not enough cheese (though there was cheesy potato) for Wisconsin, but it was otherwise what's to be expected. The selection was also fairly small, but none of us were disappointed. The on-menu stuff is all pretty good, too, according to my mother-in-law, but I can't comment on that personally. It's been mentioned that the place is very touristy, and it is. It's also very fun. The atmosphere is very clearly manufactured, but it's all very cleverly done. The cups are quaint jars, which we all found adorable. The server was polite and friendly. It was good fun. There is a gift shop, and it is overpriced, but don't let it put you off. When there's a wait time, it's something to do.

This is very casual, farmer rustic. Many large booths, pitchers of ice cold water on the table. You cannot beat the lunch deals, we had a roast beef lunch and turkey openface sandwich. The mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits are just superb. Hubby said the pot roast was some of the best he's ever had anywhere (and trust me, he is a pot roast fanatic). You get fixins with your meal such as biscuits, apple bread, coleslaw and cottage cheese. The menu is varied and homey. There is a Sunday brunch. Don't overlook the salad bar, since it's easy to miss on the side. I had been to Machine Shed many times and never once did the server mention it existed. It does look very good, so intend on trying it next time. A great value for the dollar and tasty food like grandma used to make. Also, Machine Shed is sooo much better than Cracker Barrel.

My wife and I stopped at the Machine Shed on 1/29/11. Our neighbor's raved about the portions and quality of the food. I also checked out the reviews on this site and most were positive. The restaurant did not meet our expectations. The service was great, thanks to Sheila for your friendly service. The meal was very average. My wife had the fried chicken. The chicken had very little taste. She expected more flavor since the menu describes the use of secret spices. The portion was o.k., I would not describe it as large. The presentation of the chicken with a scoop of mashed potatoes looks bare because the vegtable sides are served seperately. I had the Tangy Tenderloin. The tenderloin was very good. This was my first time eating stuffed tenderloin and I would order it again, but I don't think we'll return.

After spending a year in New Zealand, I was really in the mood for some good ol' fashioned American comfort food. My mother, a recent transplant to Wisconsin, recommended the Machine Shed. When we first walked in my thought was, 'Cracker Barrel Rip Off.' But I soon discovered that Machine Shed is everything Cracker Barrel *pretends* to be--a family-owned chain committed to serving quality food at a reasonable price in a down-home atmosphere. The staff was friendly--in fact, our waiter was a hoot--the food was well prepared, and the menu had enough to lure me back the next time I find myself in Waukesha.

I had the meatloaf lunch with cheddar potato soup and my wife had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with sweet potato fries with cinnamon sugar on top of them. Everything was good. Service took a while but with only one server and 8 or 9 tables and a manager running her food I expect a little delay.

Good solid farm food but I went to the one in Pewaukee.
