I moved away from Waukesha a few years ago, and this place opened after I left. I've visited a few times with family and friends. This review is based on the most recent two visits I had, over the course of the same week. I visited with a friend for drinks on a Wednesday night. We were in the mood for an upscale cocktail night in downtown Waukesha, and People's Park fit the bill. The place was busy, but not packed, and we were seated on the second level. The server was fantastic. I don't recall his name, but he mentioned he was from Chicago, and was very knowledgeable and polite. He offered to mix us anything we wanted. I appreciated the offer, but stuck to a Manhattan (with brandy, this being Wisconsin during Christmas, after all). He returned with a really excellent brandy Manhattan. I dug it, and in retrospect would have liked to see what kind of custom cocktails he was working on. My friend ordered some kind of house cocktail called a Lemon Kiss, which sounded (and was) too sweet for me. Overall, a good experience that night. About four days later, I visited People's Park with another friend for drinks. This time we sat at the bar. The bartender was kind and personable when she took our orders, but looked a bit thrown off when I ordered a Manhattan with whiskey. She asked if I wanted it straight up or on the rocks, almost as if trying to feel out what it was I had ordered. Then when she brought it, she asked if I wanted it with any garnish, like a cherry. Yes I did, since that's what a Manhattan comes with. The drink wasn't that good, unfortunately. Not to be a dick, but a Manhattan isn't a complex drink. It's something every bartender should know, and/or every good bar should have ready to reference. Ideally, it's bourbon whiskey and sweet vermouth, with at least 3/4 being bourbon whiskey, stirred in a cocktail strainer over ice cubes with a dash of bitters, served straight up in a martini glass, with a cherry garnish. (In Wisconsin or when being imbibed by Wisconsinites, brandy can be substituted for whiskey.) The first bartender nailed it, but the second one dropped the ball. The larger issue too is that when I order a cocktail on a date, the last thing I want is for the bartender to ask me how to make it. No guy wants to look like some dandy ordering a froo-froo elaborate cocktail while on a date. (For contrast, at some of my favorite cocktail bars, I can order a Ward 8, which is rarely on any menu, and the bartender will make it without so much as blinking.) This didn't really ruin the night for me, but it could have gone smoother. I'm glad that downtown Waukesha has a place like this, but it would be great if they took it up a notch. Waukesha thinks of itself as a city with a good deal of money, so why is it so hard to get a consistent upscale cocktail in this town? I'm not sure. For what it's worth, I also find the hodge-podge style of decor a bit off-putting here. A lot of establishments in Waukesha seem to be adopting the "Midwest Weird" style of decorating. I don't get it. A place that came in with clean lines, minimalist design, and solid cocktails would make a killing in this town. (Or maybe not.) Anyway, go to People's Park and give them your business, but keep nudging them in the right direction. That's my take.

A fantastic place! The 4 of us all loved our dishes- we kept commenting on how much we were enjoying our meals. I will definitely return when I am back in the area!
(5)Nathan C.
Decent food. Loud with a bunch of hipsters. Waiters are the biggest problem here. Inconsisntent service, more times than not, it's poor. Especially the pony tail Fabio guy who calls everything "beautiful"

Celebrated a belated birthday with some friends here! Every time I come back to People's Park I love it even more. This time was different because we were able to sit on the rooftop patio and enjoy the summer sunshine. Balloons were included at our table to kick off the dinning experience. I was impressed with new cocktail selections. I had the brat burger which was pretty yummy (pork Bratwurst Patty on a pretzel bun! Served with sauerkraut, caramelized onions, swiss cheese and mustard sauce). I paired it with a refreshing cucumber salad. Other dishes I saw my friends order included: Seared tenderloin sandwich, grilled cheese and grilled chicken sandwich with avocado. I will definitely be back soon as this is a go to spot in downtown Waukesha. Emily

Absolutely love this place. I happened to stumble upon it for brunch one Saturday. The food was fantastic. We were able to sit up on the rooftop patio. It was an amazing experience! Great view of downtown Waukesha and awesome service! Will definitely go back!

Every time I go to People's Park it seems to get better. First of all, I feel like one of the cool people when I eat here, despite my utter lack of cool-ness. It's just a funky, artsy place with some really good food. I keep coming back because the pork tenderloin sandwich is ridiculous - there isn't a sandwich like it in this state. Usually if I decide to branch out and eat something else, no matter how good that other thing is, a small piece of me is sad I didn't get the pork again. There are other excellent dishes though. They make hands down the best burger west of the zoo. I really love the Sunny Slope with the fried egg on top. Whatever you order, make sure you get a side of sweet potato fries with chipotle dip, and the cucumber salad is a nice side too if you want something lighter. First time at PP? Sit at the bar, order a bloody mary and play I Spy with the wall of people above the bar. Have a baby? The servers at PP are so awesome, they always offer to bring my little one a cup of fruit.

Been frequenting this place quite a bit lately. AWESOME service, VERY attentive wait staff. Excellent drinks, excellent food. So nice to see Waukesha having a revival of new businesses.

I went to People's Park for lunch on a Tuesday when I was visiting a friend at Carroll University. We sat on the rooftop on a beautiful 75 degree day. The ambiance is very hip and young, with art all around, an awesome drink menu, and a bar on the rooftop. FOOD: I had the Frankie's Garden salad and split some sweet potato fries with a friend. Both were very good and fresh. SERVICE: The service is what knocks this place down a notch. We had a very friendly server, but she just did not have enough help up on the rooftop. She kept forgetting things and taking forever to bring things we asked for. Also, we had a ton of bees swarming around throughout our entire lunch. The host had told us people had been complaining about the bees. Might not be their fault, but it seems like there may be something they could spray to eliminate this problem? Overall, any place with a rooftop and good food wins in my book. I would definitely go back, and I'd probably order the same thing! Good job, Waukesha!
(4)Carla M.
Favorite favorite favorite Waukesha bar and restaurant. The rooftop bar is the best. Everything I've eaten there has been amazing. We were sad that they discontinued the pommes frites but that won't stop us from coming back. You have to eat the famous sweet potato fries!

Upon walking into the restaurant, you can't but help notice the cool laid back vibe this place has. The owners really took the time to plan out the ambiance of the place, and they hit it out of the park, it is perfect for Waukesha, Waukesha NEEDS more places with interiors like this. However........after being wowed by the great décor....things started to head south for me..... Before I get to my disappointments with the menu, I wanted to say that the service was great, our server was spot on with refills and she was very friendly. The menu was very basic, and had only a few key building blocks to it. I ordered a chicken breast sandwich with bacon and a special sauce on it (not ground breaking originality, but a decent staple). Well, the sandwich's taste was good, however, the chicken breast was about as thick as 2 slices of the bacon, which meant, great bacon, and really poor cut of chicken. When you order a sandwich and get such a small piece of the main protein, you feel kind of cheated, almost fooled. I attached picture where you can see that the French fries were thicker than the chicken. Now I know that some chefs will pound the chicken breast out in order to assure even cooking and easier eating...however, if this was the case with my sandwich, the starting size of the chicken breast would have had to of been about the size of tennis ball. Also, it has always been my opinion when you pound out a chicken breast to about the thickness of 3 stacked coins, you lose all flavor of the chicken, and you would have been better off not even going through the trouble of putting it in the sandwich in the first place. There are different restaurants in Downtown Waukesha that have a more creative sandwich menu, however, none can touch the interior of this place. A great place to go for drinks, but if you want to experience what Waukesha can offer for food, you may be better off walking someplace else after enjoying a couple cocktails here. All in all, I was disappointed with the poor quality and or lack of chicken breast used in my sandwich. I do understand that they just incurred huge costs rebuilding and getting the place back up and running, so maybe they had to cut some costs with food sourcing? Not sure what was up with the chicken. I want to like this place, so I will try again in a month or so and update my review.

This is a trendy spot in downtown Waukesha. It's two stories plus a rooftop. There can be a wait on weekends, so we try to hit it when its not jam packed. They have a decent menu - good burgers, great sweet potato fries (or Greek cucumber salad, if you want a healthier option), a few wraps/sandwiches, some salads and a few desert options. When the weather is nice, I recommend their rooftop bar (you can also order food up there); note, some fool threw a glass off the top last St. Patty's Day, so now you can only be served with clear plastic cups, which seem a little smaller than the beers downstairs :(
(3)Caitlin M.
Stopped in here on a nice, sunny summer day. They have a great rooftop, but unfortunately, it was too packed to get a seat. The food is decent, with lots of sandwich, salads and appetizers. We tried the Chicken and Avocado sandwich and it was very good. We also had the Bloody Mary, which was quite tasty. Check out the full review at outforbloodies.com .

I can't really say that anything was bad, but I can't really say that anything was good either. It was very middle of the road is what it comes down to.

A friend and I stopped here after a long morning of shopping and a movie at the Majestic. We don't live in the area so we searched yelp for a place near by and People's park popped up. It was in a cute little area and once I found out it was apart of the beloved Taylor's in downtown Milwaukee I was sold. We entered and seated right away, I wish it was a little nicer weather or I would of opted to sit outside on their rooftop. Our server was adorable gauged ears and hair slicked in a tiny ponytail. He got us our first round of drinks I decided to go with the Melonball Mule, the melon was subtle but it was missing something. My friend had the Ellie Beth which I'm guessing she enjoyed since it was gone within two minutes. It was a Tuesday so I ordered the fish tacos with the cucumber salad, I really wanted a bowl of soup but oddly they said they didn't offer any soup today. My friends ordered the crab spring rolls. We decided to share our food and I wasn't disappointed the spring rolls had yummy blue crab inside with a sweet chili dipping sauce it was heaven for me. The fish tacos weren't lacking either lightly fried and the cucumber salad was refreshing. After our meal I got to have a good conversation with our server about the place and the owners and even learned some new interesting things. I will definitely be back.

I was in town visiting with friends and People's Park was recommended to us as a decent place to meet up for dinner and drinks. I thought the food menu was okay, very typical American food, but the drink menu was on the sparse side. I ended up trying the pot stickers for an appetizer with the beer battered fish fry with potato pancakes for my main meal. The zesty ginger soy sauce that accompanied the pot stickers was delicious and the pork inside the pot stickers was also nicely seasoned. It's hard to go wrong with a beer battered fish fry for dinner. The fish was evenly coated and not too oily. The lemons were fresh, the tatar sauce was slightly tangy. The potato pancakes were a bit more greasy than I'm used to and next time I would ordered the meal with regular fries instead. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was trendy with plenty of seating. The lighting was on the poor side as it was impossible to read the blue/teal printing on the orange menu without a flashlight. Overall my experience wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

This is definitely the place to go if you like Egg's Benedict. Especially if those Egg's Benedict are served to you on a thinly sliced microwaved thawed English Muffin, with hard boiled eggs, sitting on top of a "ham-like" substance, along with a dollop of broken hollandaise sauce to add a minor touch of flavor to an already disturbing dish. Seriously - they have about 8 things on their brunch menu, and not one that we shared was executed properly. Waukesha needs a good brunch place, and so far (been there twice) this isn't it. The chef should have to register as an "offender" after molesting my tastebuds.
(2)Barry L.
An update to my review. Just learned the menu changed a few months ago to include a gluten-free options (many choices, kudos to management for expanding menu for gluten-free customers). Although the kitchen is not completely gluten-free (cross contamination) so beware for those with celiac disease. The staff was very accommodating for celiac and went out of their way to find out the exact ingredient for their mojito. We had the salmon pesto and it was very good and I would recommend. Again, service did not disappoint.
(4)Zach O.
People's Park does not disappoint. The location is great. I personally love feeling like I'm in a small town with lots to explore, especially if there is a great place to have a bite. They also have roof top seating which must be the greatest for people watching. The staff is excellent. Every server/waiter/waitress has been extremely friendly and respectful. Last time I was there our waiter accidentally knocked my almost empty glass over and was kind enough to replace it with a shot of Jack Daniels (Do you want a big tip? Cause that's how you get a big tip). To be perfectly honest, the food isn't anything special. The bruschetta is very good. Great use of balsamic and the perfect amount of tomato. My fiancee had a burger on a pretzel bun on our first trip and it was fantastic, but a pretzel bun is hard to mess up. We've also had their pesto chicken and I pretty sure my first day I tried their Italian beef (or some kind of beef). The chicken and beef were't bad, not at all. They were just a little boring. The flavor wasn't good, wasn't bad...I don't know. I like a little creativity. Overall People's Park is excellence. If they would get a little more adventurous with their menu I'd be there everyday.
(4)James K.
Great place. Much classier than some of the other establishments in downtown Waukesha.
(5)Anne M.
I had a party for 30 people this afternoon at People's Park. Food and service were outstanding. Room was beautiful. They exceeded my tough expectations.
(5)Jim L.
If Yelp had 6 stars I would give it to Peoples Park. I eat there once a month or so, and especially enjoy the rooftop dining area and bar. They have a relatively short menu: salads, burgers, sandwiches and a few entrees. But every item is a taste sensation, to quote Kramer it's like having a circus in your mouth. Burgers are first rate, and I also love the grilled pork tenderloin sandwich. My daughter swears by the fried Tilapia sandwich. Try the chive or sweet potato fries on the side. The atmosphere on the main level is a bit noisy and crowded, but the rooftop is really fun. I'm not the only person who loves this place, so it can get crowded during peak times. But its worth the hassle, one of the best dining experiences in Waukesha.
(5)Mike T.
Good food and location but the mixed drinks were not the best. Not sure if the bartender knew what he was doing but the drinks were a deal breaker for me
(4)Scott H.
Always great when we go. Food is great and the service is very good. Only issue is they need to update or change up their menu from time to time.
(4)Jeff O.
Love the rooftop dining. Great vibe and fun menu! If you sit at the bar for lunch ask for Cassie or dinner on the roof look for Lydia!
(4)Margaret R.
Stopped in late on a Sunday for a celebratory cocktail and a bite to eat. I heard it was one the hot spots in the area. The bartender greeted us immediately and was very friendly. I enjoyed perusing the interesting cocktail list, but didn't enjoy the cocktail he recommended for me as much as I would have liked (a pear vodka and lemonade concoction). My boyfriend enjoyed his mule very much. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich with sweet potato fries, based on other helpful Yelp reviews and they didn't disappoint. That was a mighty tasty sandwich. Pork wasn't dry and lots of delicious flavors going on with this sandwich. Fries were pretty good too, came with a chipotle mayo. It was a bit annoying though that we had a painfully long wait for my food order and it was the only order the kitchen had. Our bartender was busy restocking the bar and hadn't checked on us for some time so we flagged down another employee that finally walked by to ask for water and the status of my food. Our bartender promptly checked us after that, perky as ever and shared his Girl Scout cookies with us. Now THAT'S going above and beyond! Gotta love [free] cookies. The menu seemed a bit small and I heard they have brunch so I'd go back when I'm in the area.
(4)Mark R.
They had me at house made brat burger on a pretzel role. It exceeded expectations. The brat I remember growing up here. The pretzel roll I love. With a Tito's mule made well and a friendly bar tender. Great location. Probably one of the better downtown restaurants here.
(4)Theresa H.
My first time at People's Park today for lunch. I had the Frankie's Garden salad with chicken and a glass of Chardonnay! It was wonderful! I would highly recommend the salad, the wine was nice too! I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!
(5)Jake E.
People's Park is a staple for anyone in the area looking for a quirky atmosphere filled with eclectic conversation starting art, great food (especially those Park fries!) and a killer rooftop seating area. I have two meals that I go back and forth with at People's-the Sandwich Capri and Frankie's Garden. Sandwich capris is a caprese salad on a baguette...and it's amazing. A simple sandwich packed with a ton of flavor. Frankie's garden goes well with the salmon on top-with the craisins, salmon, and dressing-it's a perfect summer lunch go-to. The staff here is awesome-fast, friendly, and always willing to joke with customers. They also sell Sprecher sodas which is an added bonus. I find people's to be best for lunch and happy hour times.
(5)Sara C.
Great salads at great prices. I moved to Bayview, but still make it a point to stop here when my boyfriend and I are in town for a Frankie's with Shrimp. Love the crab Rangoon as well. Parking downtown Waukesha sucks, but they have a small lot across the street. If you're feeling up to it, climb all the stairs to their rooftop patio on a nice day! Servers are usually friendly and attentive.
(5)Sherry C.
Went on a beautiful summer evening, which was an expectedly fairly busy night - rooftop seating was a 45-minute wait, but we were able to snag a table on the first floor after 5 minutes or so. I had the Marilyn (strawberry vodka, lemonade, moscato, mint, and fresh strawberries; refreshing and sweet without being cloying) and my friend ordered the Milwaukee Mule (she had to give them her ID to keep to ensure we wouldn't take off with the copper mug!). We split the tempura green beans for a perfectly sized appetizer and ordered sandwiches (grilled chicken with avocado; fried tilapia) that were tasty but nothing extraordinary. Really attentive service but we were seated right next to the kitchen and heard some pretty chaotic/panicked-sounding chatter (thankfully, everyone was able to keep it together when going back to their tables).
(4)Angela H.
Chicken Pesto wrap is the best! Atmosphere is fantastic, service was impeccable! Fried green beans are the best!
(5)Tony S.
Excellent rooftop bar experience and a great place to hang out on a summers day. Average food overall. Excellent leadership and staff!
(3)Lisa G.
I've had good experiences in the past...this is a neat place. But I was not thrilled with the fish fry. The batter was so thick, almost like a corn dog...and the thickness caused it to be pretty greasy.
(3)laura '.
It is a gem in downtown Waukesha. The best bar to take a date or meet up with small groups of friends. Interesting art on the wall! Great conversations pieces! See the photo i posted! Appetizers are great- a little skim on their wine pours and a bit limited selection. Rooftop dining and drinks in summer!
(4)Music Maniac P.
A hip vibe, but....Over priced for what you get. Gritty burger meat and minimal menu choices. Mediocre flavor. Bruschetta was good, but $9 for 5-6 1" pieces is NOT worth it! There are better food options around for the price point.
(3)Corinne N.
Went here with BF, trying something new. Was very nicely decorated, larger than I expected when we walked up. Staff was very pleasant. My initial reaction was that we were in for a very nice meal. I found the atmosphere rather loud and struggled to hear my BF. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. It was okay. Tasted nothing Chipotle flavored. Best part was the bacon. Fries were just fries. BF had the tenderloin. He wasn't impressed but didn't say why. Overall, it was just a fair experience for the price. Wouldn't go out of my way to return.
(2)Mark C.
Food has no taste at all. Had many things on the menu and nothing has flavor. Staff think their s**t doesn't stink and think they work in NYC or LA.
(1)Kristin P.
Meh. I will be passing this restaurant up next time unless I am walking around down Waukesha near there. Slowest service I've encountered in a very long time I counted 4 tables and 3 people drinking at the bar. It was 330pm on a Monday. Some of the artwork was awkward. No waters although I asked for simple syrup in my black tea and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. Brownie points for bringing another one out with consistency. Waiter extremely polite. Disappointed they didn't carry soy milk for alternative coffee creamer. This part of Waukesha is clearly trying to tap into the Eastside/Bayview culture of "hippy" trending lifestyle. I grew up on the Eastside(child to late 20's), lived there for 25 years love it, nothing really compares. Waukesha is falling short and never fails to disappoint. The red pepper humus was down right scary, the chickpeas used were clearly from the can and not dried off before blending (I know this because I have made this mistake) it was watery, literally poured off the spoon like soup. The pita was surprisingly deep fried. You could squeeze the oil out of them. I was worried about my chicken sandwich. Food took a very long time to come out, we waited 25 minutes for the humus and 35 minutes after that for entrées. My less than appetizing humus was forgotten when my order was correct (no bun no cheese) and the grilled chicken was seasoned and cooked well. Not very chipotle like. My husbands burger was delicious! Ended the meal on a good note with a rocky start. Cup of coffee, iced tea, hummus, burger and chicken sandwich= $40.05. I won't go out of my way to eat here again.
(2)Angela E.
The best choice for a bite to eat or a quick drink in Waukesha. It has three levels and each have their own bar so it's not super crowded but never empty. The rooftop terrace is great in the summer. I've been here several times and the food is always fantastic and the bartenders are on their A game. They also have a really good drink selection. Love this place!
(5)HD M.
This used to be my fave summertime place (go to the rooftop ) but I was there last sat around 2pm and I ordered the chicken skewers (appetizer ) and my bf ordered the veggie burger. It took over half an hour to get our food. And it wasn't very busy !!! The veggie burger did taste great though !!! Please work on your kitchen times !!!! Other than that I love this place.
(3)Jeff R.
Why did I just find out about this place? Hip joint in downtown Waukesha with a fresh well rounded menu. This place was busy, but I was able to sneak up to the Full Bar on the 2nd floor. I kept my meal pretty simple, soup and salad. The soup de jour was Coconut Curry Chicken and it was nice and spicy. The salad was 'FRANKIE'S GARDEN' with Steak Strips. The Rice Vinegar Soy Dressing matched up quite nice with the dried Cranberries and crumbled Goat cheese. Overall a great meal. Staff was awesome and saw them going out of their way with every patron. GOOD JOB!
(5)Ron W.
Eh... It's really not that great. If you're lucky you get a good server...but odds are you won't. The bartenders should find jobs more in their personality fields...prison guards, or telemarketers...wake up...the food is average...and you are in the hospitality industry...it's run as if it were a hardware store.
(2)Angie N.
When people say there's nowhere to go in Waukesha, my first question is usually "Have you been to People's Park?" This stop brings Waukesha one step closer to being a destination for diners and drinkers out in the 'burbs. Service is friendly and attentive without being overwhelming. Atmosphere inside is trendy for Waukesha standards but not snobby by any means. The first two levels of seating are spacious and there's rarely a wait. The rooftop bar is the real show stopper here. It honestly feels like you're transported to somewhere completely different. It's an awesome view of Downtown Waukesha and an intimate spot for a lunch, dinner or drinks. Seating up there is hit or miss - I've gone a few times where there's a wait and other times gotten a seat immediately. Food is also fantastic. The sandwiches all have little unexpected twists and takes on pairings. The flavor is fantastic and the prices are completely fair given the portion size. My absolute favorite is the pork chop sandwich but the Valley Burger is a close second. They've got a great selection of different appetizers as well as a few staples. You can easily go for drinks and a couple appetizers to share and be just as pleased with the food! Definitely a great and welcomed addition to Downtown Waukesha.
(4)Dan D.
Good food. Smallish menu. Prices may not be on par with how good the food is. They have a wonton wrapped mozzarella stick appetizer that is amazing. Lots of in door and out door seating option. The service is satisfactory overall. We go here once every couple of months and will likely continue at that rate.
(3)Joann W.
It's pretty mediocre here sometimes the service is good sometimes not. Their food is not bad it all depends what you order. I personally enjoy their salads
(3)Jodi S.
What a cute place! When I walked in, no one actually greeted me until 5 minutes after I walked up to the front desk, but they were super busy. I think a bar tender actually seated me. But once seated, the service was excellent. I've seen this server before and she does such a great job. The bloody was average, but they sub'ed my meat garnish with more cheese, so I was extremely happy :) My Portobello Mushroom Benedict was delicious! I wanted more! More spinach and more of the sweet potato side.
(4)Mary K.
I have nothing but good things to say about People's Park. One of my all time favorite local restaurants. If you're in Waukesha it's an absolute MUST. The Frankie's Garden salad is truly to die for; I would go to great lengths to eat one. My only problem with People's Park is that after you eat there once you'll waste away your days dreaming about eating their delicious food again.
(5)M H.
Awesome food! I had the capri sandwich and olive salad side. I cleaned my plate and I rarely do that. You have to try it.
(5)Jac Q.
My friends and I were looking for a new place with good food and a rooftop, super happy we found this one!! Great food, great staff and really cool neighborhood.

Descriptive phrase: just-okay fare at upscale American diner. People's Park is one of those places in downtown Waukesha that stands out by being relatively upscale but still approachable to the locals. On the corner off Main St and housed in a classic building, PP toes the line between hip bar and fancy sitdown, all while still giving off a diner vibe. Five of us came for dinner around Christmas. At one point a local high school's choir came in and sang carols, which was nice. I started with a Clinton St Manhattan ($9), which was their own take on the simple classic and offered just enough difference to make it worthwhile. I ordered the Chipotle Grilled Chicken sandwich with Avocado ($9.95), and subbed in sweet potato fries (+$1.50). The bread can be the downfall of certain sandwiches, but PP used lightly-grilled and buttered slices that held up well. The chicken breast was a bit dry, but the chipotle mayo helped with that. There was also romaine lettuce, pepper jack cheese, bacon, and avocado strips. I love the individual ingredients, but the sandwich itself was just okay. Not notable in any way. I'd normally say $1.50 is a steep add-on price for substituting sweet potato fries, but at People's Park it's worth it. The fries, dipped in my chipotle mayo, were the stars of the food for me. It's great that downtown Waukesha has a place like People's Park, which features well-crafted cocktails and a nice atmosphere. But the food just wasn't notable, for me or my companions.

I have been to People's Park several times now, and the quality of food and level of service has always been excellent. Today was no exception. I arrived early to meet a friend for lunch. I was seated, given menus, and given water immediately. The server was friendly and professional. I waited a while for my friend, and the server checked up on me multiple times. My friend arrived, and the server was ready for drink orders and food orders. We requested to sit upstairs but the wait was 20-30 minutes, so we continued to sit outside at the street level. In any case,we asked for more time, and, when we were ready, he was there within a minute or so. Both my friend and I had the vegetarian burger and sweet potato fries. Although expensive, it is a really good sandwich. The burger is large, not dry, and tasty. I believe it is made there. Certainly much better than the veggie burgers bought in supermarkets. The sweet potato fries are excellent with just the right amount of salt and cooking. Mostly vegetarian, I have only tried the salmon, which is good too. I should mention that People's Park has a bar and seating on the roof top. It is very pleasant. There is a cute full bar on the first level, which can get quite busy--this is a popular evening hangout. I have had excellent vegetarian meals at People's Park. They are consistent in quality and service. It is one of the nicest restaurants and bars in Waukesha. I highly recommend it.

This place is always busy and has had good reviews, so I thought to give it a try. To sum it up: It was ok. I had the tenderloin sandwich. The portion size was good and the tenderloin was tender, but it just tasted bland. The service was again ok. It wasn't like I was being ignored, but I wasn't getting warm Fuzzy's either. I'll be back to give it another try...maybe it was just a bad day.

We ended up coming here on New Years Day while searching for a less crowded place to watch the Badgers game. They had no trouble seating our group of 8 upstairs and guided us through the menu. It just so happened to be a day they offered a breakfast special (holy cow do I review a lot of breakfasts) - steak and eggs! Truth be told, this combo has always left me a little disappointed. I seem to always find the restaurants that believe steak can only be a breakfast item when it's thin, tough, and dry. Thankfully, People's Park sweetened the deal by throwing in a Bloody Mary with a beer back (note to other out-of-staters like myself, this is apparently a normal thing in Wisconsin. And an AWESOME thing.) Always eager to try a local bloody, my fate was sealed. The accouterments of the Bloody were some of the best I've ever had. Not content to slap in a dill spear and a piece of celery, they also piled on two olives (one pimento, the other jalapeno), a shallot, pickled asparagus, and a pickled Brussels sprout. Each one of these additions was more delicious than the last, which helped distract me from an otherwise average Bloody Mary mix. But then again, I do like mine with a little extra kick, and I've nobody to blame but myself for not asking for it spicy. Still mulling over the last remnants of my beer back, I was shocked at both the size and the quality of the cut of steak that came out on my plate. Perhaps an inch and a quarter thick, this piece of meat had clearly been grilled and seasoned with care. The first cut exposed the warm pink center I had requested, and the taste reflected the excellent appearance. The scrambled eggs that accompanied the steak were light, fluffy, and finally made me understand why "steak and eggs" is a thing. The homefries that came along with it were okay, but I may have not given them much of a chance as I was pretty full by the time I finished the other parts of my meal. Also note that many people at my table got the sweet potato homefries, and did a better job clearing their plates than I did. The other meal that saw a lot of action at my table was the brat-burger, served on a pretzel bun and with a list of ingredients I honestly can't remember well enough to quote here. What I do remember is everybody who ordered one gulping down their burgers with a contentment usually reserved for homecooked meals after a long day. As for atmosphere, it's light and artsy and very casual. Seems like it would be a pretty decent spot for a first date, or a fun lunch. My only regret is that I likely won't be able to visit People's Park for at least another year or two. At this point I'm waiting on another member of my Wisconsin relatives to get married, so until then, be sure to keep coming so they stay open until then!

Food is fantastic! Amazing!

Great place to stop for a beer if you're in town or Frame Park. Great beer selection and friendly service. Nice rooftop bar. We swung by a few afternoons and it was great but a little loud on Sunday afternoon. Cool mural above the bar.

Almost every community has a restaurant that gets puts up on a pedestal by the locals but doesn't live up to the hype. In Waukesha, that is People's Park. Why is this? My guess is that it's the only restaurant in the area that has rooftop seating and has ingratiated itself as the trendy place to go downtown. After multiple visits over the years, one word comes to mind- overrated. The food is strictly average, the menu is comprised of the usual stuff you'd find in almost any restaurant of this style, and there is no "must have" signature item I would go out of my way for. The main entrance gets obnoxiously crowded and is like running a gauntlet to get to your table . Want a spot on the roof? Expect to stand on the sidewalk for at least an hour on summer weekends. I'm all for supporting local businesses when I can but this place isn't worth it. Just about everything they offer is done better by other restaurants only a few blocks away.

Love this restaurant! Always fresh and delicious! Homemade sauces and everything is from scratch! Highly recommended if you want a great burger, sandwich, drink or appetizer!

I gotta say I was mightily impressed with this place. Food was very, very tasty. The quality really comes out. They have a flare about them (servers, ambiance, menu, etc.) Coming from Orange County, it was cool to find a hipster spot in Waukesha!

My colleagues took me to lunch for my birthday and we headed to People's Park. They were having a menu shortage, but when they finally brought us enough menus, the waiter told us that they were having a fish fry (it is Friday... duh!). Anyway, three of us put our menus down and decided on the fish fry. We arrived just in time before the place filled up for lunch. The did a pretty good job of getting our food to us quickly, so definitely a place that understands the hour lunch crowd. For the fish fry, you have the option of fried fish or baked and then you have the option of the cucumber salad, french fries, or potato pancakes. We all decided on fried fish with the potato pancakes. Boss man (I have moved from two supervisors to one supervisor) opted for the Manhattan Clam Chowder and one of my colleagues had Frankie's Garden Salad with salmon. The Fish Fry is great! I am not a fan of Rye Bread, nor the spread they put on it, but there was more than enough on my plate to fill me up. You get two decently sized pieces of fish... they are a little heavy with the batter, but the fish is nice and meaty. You get two potato pancakes, which kind of look like those hash brown patties. Then you get some kind of sauce... I thought it was tartar sauce, but I am not sure, however, I really did like it. It was a bit garlicky, not chunky, creamy, a hint of horseradish (which I don't actually like, but it seemed to work in this) and great on both the fish and potato pancakes. The coleslaw was nice, I am glad they opt for a vinaigrette rather than another creamy option on the plate. And then there is the shot of apple sauce. I am not from Wisconsin, so I didn't realize that the apple sauce is supposed to go with the potato pancake??? I just like to think of it as a nice little dessert to my fried meal. I would highly recommend their fish fry and I hope to go back and try the baked fish next time... I know it is called a fish fry, but a little variety never hurt anyone!

I totally love this place. It's hip, it's trendy, it has funky art, it has out door seating on the side walk, it has 2 levels and third floor patio seating on the roof top. It is in what I call the GOOD part of Waukesha, the part that feels like you have just arrived some where really cool, it feels like you're not in Wisconsin or in Waukesha but yet some how you are in both. Not only is this restaurant nice but so is the surrounding area, charming old architecture, with lots of quaint shops, restaurants and bars. And although you would never ever hear me say this about Waukesha county as a whole, this small area of Waukesha is one of the most diverse areas around and you will see all different kinds of people. Great place for people watching. This area kind of reminds me of Brady Street only way better because it doesn't have the traffic and it's sporting a lot more swag. Now the food; The Crab Rangoon Spring Rolls are totally yum and so is the sweet chili dipping sauce that comes with it. The Frankie's Garden Salad is off the charts delicious. The grilled pork tenderloin sandwich is also good. And let's not forget those sweet potato park fries, also hmmm hmmm good. But unfortunately it aint all good in the Park; I tried the Friday Fish fry and it's ok but, I've had better, the tarter sauce that they serve tastes weird so it brings down the rest of entree, so this would not be a place that I would recommend for fish fries. The Charleston Crab Cakes are terrible. They taste like some one doused them in pepper. The Bruschetta is a complete disaster, they need to re-think this one, way too salty and the Prosciutto is like meat gum, I'm sorry but I had to spit it out in my fancy cloth napkin, and although I know that sounds pretty gross, it was no where nearly as gross as this starter. It's almost inedible. If it wasn't for these things, I would be giving this place 5 stars instead of 4. Because as much as I love the ambiance here, it's a restaurant and at the end of the day it's about the food. They got the swag now they got to step their game up with the flavor. However, I totally give them credit for being the first restaurant to come to Waukesha that could actually pull this off. There have been a few others that have tried but have fallen short, People's Park is definitely aiming for the bleachers. Yep Waukesha finally has a place where all of the beautiful, cool and stuck up people can go, and since all of the above describe yours truly I am so grateful for this place.

Man this food was good. Came here for lunch and I had no complaints! I had the pesto chicken with fries, pot sticker appetizer and the both rocked! Everything was made prefect food came out fast. Couldn't complain about anything even if u wanted it.

Love seeing such a great place pop up in Waukesha! Each burger and sandwich is delicious!
(5)Flee V.
It was cute inside (atmosphere) but just had an Overpriced sandwich that was fairly blah in flavor... my boyfriend had different sammich - I tried his and Meh! too... Everything was cooked fine - fries average but good temp... just eh! ... better to spend money elsewhere - nothing take home or anything to rave about.

I've been looking forward to going here for awhile because I've heard good things. Stopped in for brunch which turned out to be lunch today and can't say I was super impressed. I got the chipotle chicken and avocado wrap with a side of cream of asparagus soup. Now maybe I'm an asparagus snob but it was definitely overcooked. I was looking forward to a nice hot bowl of creamy soup with bright green asparagus but what I got what a lukewarm at best cream soup with pieces of super mushy asparagus that seemed almost brown? That would have been forgivable but the wrap wasn't much better. Not much 'chipotle' flavor and the avocado was mashed and just made the whole thing seem gloopy. My husband got the blue cheese burger and wasn't really a fan. Definitely had better elsewhere.

A fire ripped through the location about a year ago but you wouldn't even know it and you may actually thank that fire for allowing People's to expand and create the amazing restaurant and bar that it is today. It's the only 3 story restaurant in Waukesha and the first to offer Roof-top dining (debuting this summer). The menu features appetizers, sandwiches and salads. They have 3 dinner entrees but I haven't had the chance to try those yet. The appetizers aren't just the typical appetizers and add a unique twist on the typical. If you are a fan of sweet potato fries, this is THE PLACE to try them at. People's knows what they are doing with a sweet potato. Ambiance on each floor is slightly different. The main floor features a long bar on one wall with a fun art sculpture behind the bar full of dolls and trinkets from the past (some even that survived the fire). There are pub tables, a few low tables and 2 booths. Upstairs features a little more of a lounge feel with a few booths and pub tables. There is a bar on this floor as well, but not as large and dominating as the bar downstairs. I did get a sneak peak at the roof top that will have a capacity of 50 with tables and standing room. I think this would be a fun area to reserve for a party and am already planning on doing that. There will be a bar on the rooftop as well! I can't say enough about this place. Service is great, food is delicious, they are open from 11 - 12 (or later) every night. I am a big fan!
(5)Derek B.
Awesome food, great atmosphere... Perfect place to catch up with friends! Glad we made the stop.
(5)Virginia G.
I have been there many times and from what I can really say about the place is the decor and the feeling that you're in a very modern hip artsy place make the price jump. I had a basic lunch there a grilled cheese with bacon and fries if I do recall the fries might have been extra, it said on the menu that it came with a pickle I asked the waiter if they could leave it off because I can't stand pickle smell it ruins my appetite and he said I'll tell them but it will probably still be on there. Really?!? And he was right. Another time I've been there and they sat us on the roof and I can't recall what I asked for but they told me I couldn't have it because they could only serve the alcohol they had on the top bar and they didn't have what I wanted, instead of offering to go get the drink she told me I was more than welcome to walk down two flights if stairs to get a drink for the bottom bar!? Seemed weird but we just drink upstairs where they seemed to only have premium spirits which seemed a little bit of a set up but it was a beautiful day and the food has always been good so all and all a good place if you feel like spending more money for fancy art and glasses :) good for birthdays

Had Lunch with Anna yesterday and was thrilled she suggested People's! It was my first time and i loved it. What great atmosphere and plenty of seating, even during a busy lunch hour. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Anna was a good girl and ordered Rosie's Garden salad with the extra grilled salmon. She said it was delish. The dressing was almost sprayed on and not layered on too thick. The salmon was done to perfection. I had the Chipotle Grilled Chicken with Avocado. Very delish and filling. Bacon brought a nice spark of yummieness. I went all out and the sweet potato fries to accompany the meal. The menu had so many unique looking options I'm looking forward to returning.

I've lived in Waukesha for two years now and living only minutes away from People's Park has made my Waukesha experience far better. It is my favorite place to go for any event. A date, a sports game, a night out with friends or family. Awesome environment, friendly great staff, amazing food. Not one negative thing to say about PP. keep it up guys!

We went out on a sat night around 7, place was pretty full so we had to wait about 20-30min for a table. However there was enough room at the bar to wait and the bartender was super friendly! I had a pare infused martini and my bf had a pretty good beer by 4 brothers, apparently this is the only place serving it. When we were seated and here's my ONLY negative part of my review, we were seated in the BAR, that kind of annoyed me. Usually bar seating is an option for those who don't want to wait for a seat in the restaurant. Idk that's just me but if I wanted to stay in the bar I would have requested to be seated there...a little annoyed but I decided to make the best of it. We started with the sweet potato (or potatah as my lovie likes to refer) sooooo yummy! The manfriend had the special, chicken Marsala with tastey mushroom sauce and nice sized mushrooms and garlic mashed potatahs ;) I had the Alice restaurant which was a grilled salad yeah I said grilled! I was skeptical but our waitress assured me it was really good and it was! It came with nicely sized bits of chopped bacon and big chunks of Gorgonzola cheese! Yum! I opted to get some very nicely grilled chicken in top. I really like being able to taste the char on my meat and it was good! The dressing it came with was a tangy peach vinaigrette, I suggest getting it on the side it risk your overly dressed grilled salad! All in all I'm sure we'll be back and next time I'll insist on being seated IN the restaurant!

One of our local favorites. It's good for a date night, dinner, lunch, or Sunday brunch. We have two smaller kids and not exactly a great place for kids but we enjoy going when we get the chance. The atmosphere is fun and hip with really good food.
(4)Jenni P.
This place is very cute! Rooftop dining on a warm summer day, what could get better than that?! The food is good but a tad on the pricey side, but I guess that's what you get for a more boutiquey type restaurant.

I think I might have liked it had my food order been taken. I stopped in here with my dining companion on one of the first Friday nights where it was warm enough to sit outside, so of course we wanted to. At around 7:45 we were put on the list to get a table on their roof, a table which we were told would be ready in about 40 minutes. 40 minutes and a few beers later we were told they were closing the roof and we could sit somewhere else. After telling them that we'd still like to sit outside, they took us to the first open table they had, a table at which two people had just sat down. Another 5 minutes later we got an actual table, but 15 minutes after sitting we were sick of waiting to place our order, so we left. Another case of leaving before I was even able to tell anyone why I was leaving because they simply weren't there. You get what you pay for, and while I imagine they usually get it right, cheap labor often provides poor service. Especially when the hostess looks more like someone from Pirates of the Caribbean with her tits hanging out than an actual hostess.
(2)Sara K.
Went on a recommendation from a friend. There was a half an hour wait to sit on the roof so we decided to get a table inside. After about a half an hour we had not been greeted by the waitstaff and at least been given water. I finally asked a passing waitress if she like to be our server since no one else stopped by. Beth was very attentive after that point. Our appetizer came very quickly but it look about 45 min - 1 hour to get our meal. The food was good but I would be hesitant to go back due to the lack of service after we were seated.

11/3/13 My wife and sister-in-law stopped in for breakfast. They had the crab benedict and I had the 3 egg veggie omelet. It was okay. They really should consider a new coffee vendor or review how the staff prepares the coffee. It was black and that's as positive as I can be about that. The bloody Mary's were okay. Our server was nice.
(3)Chris D.
Loud irie music minus one marley song, jazz during the day which is cool! Ini scratch

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Found out that the patio was actually on the roof top, awesome service. Reasonable pricing. Rosie's Salad was great with the added steak, and a Moscow Mule. Friend had Rosie's Salad with Chicken and a Mojito. We also had an order of the Crab Rangoon Egg Rolls. All were very good! Great views of downtown Waukesha. Made for a great relaxing afternoon!!

Unique urban feel in downtown Waukesha. Nice rooftop patio where you can enjoy a meal or cocktails. Would be awesome for happy hour on a summer day after work. Good sweet potato fries. Service was a little slow for lunch.
(4)Christine S.
People's is great. The food is always good here and the brunch is delicious as well. We love the bloody mary selection and the staff is always consistent and nice. The atmosphere inside is unique and they do a nice job of changing out and updating the art. The rooftop bar is great in the summer and we love sitting outside during the summer listening to the music. This is a great place to stop in for a drink any night of the week. I love the steak caesar salad and sweet potato fries.

I love downtown Waukesha because of places like this. What a trendy little restaurant and bar. Probably not for anyone who has a doll phobia, as the back of the bar is decorated in antique mannequin heads, doll heads and other such inanimate heads. We didn't experience the bar end of things but a quick glance at their drink menu told me I'd be a happy drinker here with martini's like Skinny Mint and Pretty in Pink. There was no host/hostess so we sat ourselves. Most of the tables are high tables for four. They had a couple booths and a small section in back if your party was bigger. The service was noticeably slow, but not complain-ably slow. The menu is mostly sandwiches, a variety of appetizers and a few salads. I had the Rosie Salad with mandarin oranges, strawberries, candied walnuts with strawberry balsamic dressing and a side of sweet potato hash (a breakfast side available on the weekends from 10:30am-2pm). Highly recommend the sweet potato hash, I really liked it. I had a bite of my husbands pesto chicken sandwich, very moist chicken and great combination of flavors.

Friday Night Live has gotten many suburbanites to downtown Waukesha on Friday nights. Due to the mild winters I see more people this year than most walking our Main Street USA and enjoying what Waukesha has to offer. This Friday a friend and I finally made it out to the "after the blaze" newly remodeled "People's Park". Being that is was a very busy week for me, I needed a night out with a good friend to unwind. Upon arrival the staff politely opens the door to greet you and welcomed us aboard with immediate seating and request for our drink order. Bourbon, seltzer and a twist is my beverage of choice and my friend a Merlot. Both drinks were basic requests however I will say the drink pour for me was perfect! It was not watered down like most places and whatever brand it was, hit the spot. It was great to see the familiar art piece over the bar and the basic black attire by the wait staff. I ordered the shrimp soup. I was cautioned that it was very spicy and my reply was, I am Mexican, I can handle it :) The soup was served in a shallow sauce dish but was a perfect size as an appetizer to my Asian Blu Salad. By the way I survived the spicy cream shrimp soup and it complimented my salad well. The Asia Blu was beautiful greens, reds, apples, dried prosciutto, blue cheese crumbles and some type of Asian dressing. It was served with a toasted baguette. The salad was exactly as I imagined, only better. Thanks Taylor's PP for a great meal and stellar service. I will be back again. Most crowded restaurant in town. Great burgers with several varieties. Many other sandwiches, including tilapia, chiclen breast and one with three cheeses. Didn't try the speciality teas but everyone was drinking them. Looked like about 10 types of draft beer and ale. Great service, friendly waiters and a great lunch.

My barber recommended this to me a few days ago. Was skeptical but my wife and I loved it. The burgers are great and the sweet potato fries are fabulous. It has a very nice atmosphere and very good service. We'll be back.

Have been here about half a dozen times. House wine is wonderful and food is pretty good. Was disappointed a couple times in entrees I ordered with chicken as it was a bit dry. Atmosphere can be noisy. Can't say if we'll be back or not.

I'm very happy that People's Park is back and can't wait to check out the rooftop deck in the summer. The menu is heavy on sandwiches so that should be known before going here. Was just in recently for dinner for four... Appetizers.... Crab Rangoon Spring Rolls - these are top notch. A good amount of crab, onions and seasonings along with the cream cheese base. It's a deep fried mess of goodness. Bruschetta - these are ok. The slices of baguette were very thin and not a lot of the tomato mixture on them. The slice of proscuitto was tiny. My meal... Blue Cheese Burger with Black Bean Burger substituted for beef: The patty itself was pretty good. It wasn't spicy but rather plain and average. The benefit of this is that it works with a variety of toppings. The sauteed onions and chunks of blue cheese were prevalent. I would definitely get this burger again. The sweet potato fries are still very good and paired well with the chipotle mayo. All in all, people's park is still a great place in downtown Waukesha to get a beer and a really good sandwich or salad (I wish there was an option to add grilled salmon to the salads b/c that would rule on the Frankie's Garden.)
(4)Antoinette P.
The trendiest spot in Waukesha. I'm so glad to see that they are open again. Places like People's Park are making the city that I grew up in fun to return to with family and good friends. The food is fresh and drinks are fresher. Sit down with a glass of champagne and sweet potato fries to start a night on the town!
(5)Renita M.
A cute, small bar, with a good drink menu and actual chefs working. I'm not just saying that because my friend's brother is one of the chefs. (He just works there, he doesn't own the place or anything.) We stopped in to say hi and for a drink after some delicious sushi around the corner. It was jam-packed at 10 p.m. and we managed to steal a table in the back from people who were leaving. There was loud, dance-y music playing, but we could still hear each other talk. Mostly. And it's smoke-free, which is great. The drinks were strong and delicious, and I had a few bites of the chocolate esprit, which was pretty darn good. The rest of the menu looked really tasty and had a few unexpected things on it. They also serve brunch! Which means that sometime, I will have to come back with my friend and have some creme brulee french toast. Oh yeah, you heard me.

My favorite bar and restaurant in Waukesha. I try and come here as often as possible. The menu and food is fantastic, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect. A decent amount of seating spread out on the three levels, with bars on every level. It can be a bit crowded on the weekends, but there typically is enough seating for large groups or just one or two people. The rooftop patio/bar area is awesome during the warmer months (and to my knowledge, is the only rooftop patio/bar area in downtown Waukesha). Highly recommended!

Great service and cool decor, but the food was a little bit left to be desired. We ordered bloody mary's which were great and I love when a place gets it right and serves it will a beer back. We decided to get a few apps to share and some were ok and others were ehhh. We had the fries which were good, but they boasted truffle oil and there was a miniscule, if any, amount on them. Also, the chicken skewers were so sparse and overcooked that we joked that it looked like what is LEFT on a toothpick after you use it on your teeth. the crab cakes were ok ,a little off color, and the pot stickers tasted like frozen ones you get at trader joes, they weren't bad, but I owuld expect more from a restaurant. All in all it was a cute place, and I would come back to try an entree based on the great service and location.

Was in town for business and came across this place for lunch. It's a very cool spot - loads of unique local art covering the walls. The place itself has 3 floors (one being a rooftop deck). Our waitress, Tia (sp?) was great...my boss is "Mr. Question" and she took the time to fill us in on Waukesha, the downtown area, the restaurant, etc. (she also complimented me on my shoes which always elicits a favorable response) Tia made great recommendations for our meals - which we took her up on and were very happy with. We split both the portabella sandwich and the pork tenderloin (ask for a aside of BBQ per Tia) and both were delicious. She also recommended the cucumber side salad (w/feta, olives, tomato, etc) and that was a thumbs up too. Food came quickly and was delicious...I'd definitely come back here for lunch or dinner and/or drinks next time I'm in town.

People's Park. I want to love you. You're trendy and refreshing amidst a sea of homegrown, OK, or just plain weird businesses. I can't help but wonder if you have it together, though. Why all the ciabatta? I like sandwiches on lots of different types of baked goods. I think you need to shake up your menu a bit. Maybe a croissant would be nice. How about some Breadsmith products on the menu? Your sandwiches themselves--the fillings--are always tasty and go above and beyond the regular chicken, burger, etc. offering. Everybody loves the fries. I think they're a bit oily for my tastes, but they're rich and definitely not flash frozen and then fried a-la-Mickey D's. I lean towards the chive option rather than sweet potato, but those are good, too. Service is rather erratic. I've had overly affectionate servers (I'm thinking of the girl who puts her hand on my shoulder--a bit much, thanks) and ones who seem to reside on another planet. Overall, I enjoy this restaurant but am always bracing myself for the service or some sort of incident relating to mixed up checks, the wrong order, etc.

Went here for drinks. Loved the rooftop deck. Appetizers were ok. Would come back if I'm in Waukesha again per familiarity.

People's Park was an interesting character. The restaurant reminded me of a set from "Friends." The wall mosaic constructed of miscellaneous memorabilia-- located behind the bar--told me this was going to be a "different" dining experience. We called ahead to get our name on the list for a 7:00 p.m. seating, and the staff happily obliged. We were immediately seated on arrival. The major problem with this arrangement was the table's location. We were placed by an exit door that carried the cold air straight to my bones. I found myself shivering as I attempted to take my first bite of the roasted portobello sandwich. The sandwich made up for the lack of warmth in the restaurant with its flavor. The stack had a delicious flare from a sundried tomato pesto. The asiago slice, as described in the menu, was not necessary. The greens, onions, and pesto made the mushroom patty pop. The ciabatta bread was fluffy and held up to the fillings. The mozzarella sticks for a starter was tasty, but not as memorable as the sammy. The side of sweet potato fries was just right though. They had the crisp exterior with soft tater interior. The only thing I longed for was a heftier fry. The serving consisted of fairly thin pieces. Not that I needed more carbs: wonton wrappers (mozz stix), ciabatta bread (sandwich), sweet potato fries. Call me "Oliver!" I wanted more!!!

Went there on Valentine's Day for their steak and stuffed shrimp special for $17.95. I know at that price you're not getting grass-fed, high-quality beef. But what they served my husband was inedible. It was a blob of fat, tissue, and inpenetrable ick. It was so bad that the chef had to know it was a ball of fat when he put it on the grill. No kitchen should have EVER let that cut be served. I don't think a dog would have eaten it. Now the shrimp, potatoes and veggies were great, but the most expensive part of the meal could not even be cut with a serrated knife. We brought it to the attention of the waitress who headed us off at the pass with a quick "Well, we can't comp you". What a lovely Valentine's Day it was! After spending thousands of dollars there over the years this (literally) left a bad taste in our mouths.

Just had an outstanding lunch at People's Park. Had never been here before. We sat up on the roof the views were great on a sunny day. Our server was Courtney, she was outstanding. Very attentive to us, our water glasses with lemon slice were never less than half full and moved an umbrella for some shade for a few of us. We had various lunches and started with a hummus, cucumber, pita chip appetizer. It was perfect. I had Frankie's garden salad with grilled shrimp. I can honestly say it was THE best salad I have ever had. Fresh goat cheese, walnuts, cranberries, large grilled shrimp and a remarkable dressing with white and black sesame seeds in a sweet /sour vinaigrette mixture. Others had baked cod, the brat Burger, grilled chicken pesto sandwich and a chipotle grilled chicken with avocado. Got positive reviews from everyone. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because we were bothered by a couple of bees that we just could not get to go away and eventually stung one of us. . I think it was an exception and not totally unexpected when eating outside but it did cause us to hurry to finish and leave before we otherwise would have. Other than that, we loved People's Park and the exceptional job that Courtney, our server, did throughout the visit.

People's Park management, listen to the people! My review echoes many others'. We arrived around 7:30 on a Thursday night to find the place rather hoppin'. However, among all the people were several open two and three top tables. We stood for a few moments and then the hostess finally arrived and promptly told us it would be a while for a table for our group of five. I looked around and was a little surprised there weren't any larger tables open upstairs considering all the open small tables. Nonetheless, she took our name and phone number, told us it would be about 30 minutes, and we ran next door for a quick beer. 2 beers and then some later, we realized it had been over an hour. We headed back to People's to find a nearly empty restaurant. The hostess was nowhere to be seen. We finally saw her back in the kitchen hanging out and flagged her down. She literally looked like she wanted to rip out heads off. "Oh, you're back," she said. We were confused. She quickly put a couple small tables together in the front window, pulled up some chairs and walked back into the kitchen. We sat down, still confused. From there it got better. The waitress was kind and knowledgeable and the food was pretty good. I will return, but if the general service is not better i won't give it a third chance. My parents swear my People's Park and bring a lot of friends here. They were disappointed in the hostess and her lack of interest in serving us.

Solid lunch spot in the heart of Waukesha. My pork tenderloin sandwich was probably the single best lunch I've had since beginning work in Waukesha this summer. The side of Greek-esque salad was really fresh and delicious too. Four stars only because the service was a little abrupt - it was admittedly very busy though.

Any place that has sweet potatoes are great in my book. The bartender Ariel was very nice and conversational. Went with her recommendation for the chicken sandwich with avocado which was one of the best sandwiches I've had in awhile, everything came together just right. She even made me a special dipping sauce she likes with honey, cinnamon and brown sugar. Can't wait to come back!

Everything on the menu is outstanding. We have, now, been in so many times, it has become our goal to try everything on their menu at least once. However, the chocolate esprit dessert has made it to the table multiple times... They are open seven days a week and serve food LATE (till 11:00pm). The bar atmosphere is comfortable, smoke-free and friendly!! You may meet an owner and the staff is outstanding. Say hi to Angi, Amy, Cassy or Melissa when you stop in!! They have a fantastic martini called the Starry Night... wow... it comes with a sweet little Cholive... Yuuummmyy! Great place to stop in for a drink or lunch/dinner. You will spend more time than you might like to admit staring at the "wall". The owners personal collection of knick-knacks, toys, collectables and antiques....
