Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Wine is the biggest rip off ever. Smallest glass that they only fill 2/3 of the way.

I made a reservation which when we got there realized plenty of tables were open. Literally took the server 15 minutes to take our drink order. After we got our drinks she never returned to take our order. We waited a total of 35 minutes and got up and left as our order was never taken. We went to Michaels down the road and the service was way better and the facility was managed at a much higher level. Steer clear of Matteo's if you want even mediocre service.

Cold soup and now they charge more than the menu price for pizza because "the cost of dairy went up." Update your menu or eat the 3 cents. Never again!

An excellent place for a great pizza in a cozy and fun atmosphere. I have to take away one star for serving a no-name brand of soda.

Great food and excellent service. The wait times were terrible (we were told 20-30 minutes when there were clearly tables open) and it was even longer to get the food. The waitstaff was exceptional despite being very busy on a Saturday night. Overall a great experience.

This place is one of my favorites in Waukesha. The Italian food is really very full of flavor and the calzones are one of the biggest I have seen around. The fish fry offers plenty of options as well. Atmosphere is homey-casual and the servers are always cheery.

Michael's was our first choice, but when their wait was too long for us, we went to Matteo's. There was no wait. I should've paid attention to that red flag. The service was a joke and the food was even worse. It took 12 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge we were there. She arrived just as we were getting up to leave. It took another 10 minutes to get a soda. We ordered a large pizza. It took forever. When we got the pizza it was barely cooked. It was literally barely melted mozzarella on a cardboard crust. No seasoning, barely visible sauce, and the cheese was bright white; leaving no indication it had been in an oven for any length of time. After we received the cheese on cardboard, our waitress asked if we were ok for a little bit and informed us she was going out for a cigarette. She returned 10 minutes later wreaking of an ashtray. There is nothing more appetizing than ash trays with cardboard pizza. We have lived in the area for 10 years and Matteo's food quality and service have steadily declined year by year. We will not be back.
