30 Second Intro: Upon driving up to the restaurant, it was as if you were driving to a little farmhouse in Provence. The grounds were beautifully decorated with flowers, and the restaurant had a cute patio for outside seating. Upon entering, you find yourself in a small room made of stone walls, with several tables and a bar. The menu consists of salads and sandwiches, all of which sound so good that deciding on your meal is rather difficult! The Food: We tried some of the Killer Bread that others considered wonderful and it was, indeed, to die for. I had a cup of the soup-of-the-day and a turkey/cranberry sandwich. Both of which were Fabulous, and the dill/sage mayo that they put on the sandwich complemented the turkey and cranberry well. My colleague tried the deluxe egg salad sandwhich and she absolutely loved it. In summary: GREAT place to go for a sandwich and to get away from it all, if only for an hour. We will sneak back as often as we can this week!

The other reviews about the setting and ambiance are all true. Jack makes amazing soups. Haven't had one I didn't LOVE! John and Julie are the usual waitstaff. They are both very nice people. John is my fave, but I like both of them. It is heavenly to sit on the grapevine covered porch and linger with an iced tea in the spring/summer. I am hooked on the tuna with capers sandwich, yum! Have been there as a table of 2 and as a table of six. Consistent food and service. It gets very busy at noon and sometimes if everyone gets there at the same time, there can be a little bit of a wait to get your food. It is so relaxing there, you don't mind. It's a great place to catch up with a friend and take your time. I have been there at least 20 times in the last year or so. My favorite lunch place on earth!

I had a great experience here! My server John was awesome! I was blown away with the service. I will definitely be back! "Killer Bread" is a must and the tomato basil soup was delicious too. Plenty of soups, salads, and sandwiches to choose from. If your in the area I highly recommend checking this place out.

We stopped in at the end of lunch time, around two, for sandwiches, soups, and salads. Everything was lovely, but we got really excited about the pumpkin cake dessert. The waitress sweetly assured us that she'd be there anyway, and it would be fine if we stayed to have some, even though they'd already technically been closed for fifteen minutes. And it was delicious!

AMAZING little Jewel tucked back in a cozy farmhous-y antiqu-y rustic plant-lush setting! There was not one negative experience! Waitstaff was so friendly, I felt like I was just over @ a relative's house for a Great Lunch and chit chat! I had the ME (something) Chicken sammich with capers on a yummy dill bread - Tasty!! We had Killer Bread (which you have to try!!!) and such wonderful homemade soups (served again with another wonderful bread - this time a lovely crusty outside / soft inside herb sourdough) --- Then Dessert - they make the lightest cakes with a cool whip flavored frosting -- which is wonderful if you are like me and don't like store bought super sugary dense frostings! All at an amazingly affordable pricetag!!! Very laidback soothing experience - Eating here is a Treat - Nothing to Rush -- Bring a few friends sit back and enjoy!! We will DEFINITELY be back again and again!!!! Thank you Jack & Staff for keeping a lovely place for 14 years!!

One of my favorite places to eat. I always recommend it to others and they are never disappointed! Food is great every time and the fun part is the specials. They're always making something new and delicious .. Highly recommended!!

NOT VEG FRIENDLY Went here for a business meeting. So this was not my choice, but im generally open. As a non consumer of animal products, this place was not for me. The ONLY thing i could eat was a plain salad. There is not a single other item that was dairy and egg and animal product free. To top off this terrible dining experience the waitress commenting she was surprised of my dietary restrictions because i appear "meaty". As someone who was picked on as a younger child for weight this was over the line and killed ALL goodwill i had for this place. I will NEVER EVER return.

Great food and ambiance but the service is very slow! I will definitely come back but only on a weekend or when I have lots of time to sit around. I got the American Farm sandwich and it was delicious, loved the bread.

Wow what a great little place. Had the Farm American Sandwich. "Wow" The turkey is fresh, the cranberry oat bread tasted just out of the oven. At first I thought there should have been more turkey on the sandwich, but after eating the house salad it was paired with, it was just the right amount. The atmosphere is quaint and perfect for a small lunch meeting, or just out with friends. Look for signs that says Cafe. I was a little confused at first as to what building and door to use. Go and Enjoy.

Everything is really nice here: nice beer selection, shade filled patios, old stone building. The servers seem like they get slammed and a little flustered maybe, but everyone is always super nice and polite. All the food is really good, but THE BREAD IS AMAZING.

Met a colleague here for lunch today. I have driven by this place countless times over the years and didn't even notice it was there. What a special place! Seriously! Fascinating historical building, friendly service, and ridiculously good food. I had the soup and super delicious bread. The soup was hot, flavorful and the perfect entrée on such a cold day. The bread was obviously made today and was just delicious. My coffee came with an adorable little pitcher of cream. I'll definitely be back. Can't wait to see what it looks like over summer.

I had been driving past this place for year not knowing it was there until earlier this week. Went in for lunch today. Really good food and one of the best Arnold palmers your going to find. Would have been four stars if it wasn't for the slow service. I witnessed a table sit for ten minutes without being acknowledged. They weren't sure if they wanted to stay or go. I guess I'm saying this is a good lunch spot if you want a high quality great tasting lunch, but not a great spot of you are in a hurry.

Charmy little place in an odd location. Food was good especially the roasted red pepper and Gouda soup I had. It sold out quick though. The menu is limited and bit expensive but this place seems like the optimal "get away" from work during the lunch hour.

Two words: farm American. This sandwich is like thanksgiving dinner I'm a sandwich. The carved turkey is paired with an amazing fill mayo in cranberry oat bread. Their daily soups and desserts are always a good choice too!

Jacks Pantry which I have known as Jacks Cafe has a good lunch menu. One issue with Jacks is that it can occasionally be slow during the lunch hour sometimes taking well over an hour. I really only eat here in the summer when its nice enough to eat outside which may attribute to the slower service since it does get a fair amount of people on nice days. I think the food is tasty and well priced and is a good place for people working in the area to check out.

Big ole Yelp sticker in the window of their front door so.............I don't mind if I do! No "recent" reviews on Jacks Café......something has changed! The owner has made some obvious changes to the way he wants to do business, different hours and new policies which is fine, 100% his call. Our last visit to Jack's was a very different experience from "the way things used to be" at Jack's Cafe. We have visited several times since the staff (and other things) have changed, second and third chances. We used to come here for a quality "quick" lunch, Julie and staff always took great care of us, always working a packed house, her and one or two additional servers did a great job of getting us in and out. We always ordered whatever soups are the special, Killer Bread and salads. Our office is literally right around the corner, so it is very convenient for us to frequent Jacks. By no means do we expect "fast food" turn around times but when you offer soup specials and salads (and cater to the lunch crowd) there is NO reason to wait 30 + minutes for quick turn lunch items!!!!!! We arrived at 11:50, we were seated (no more seat yourself at the bar if you wish) and had our beverages by 11:58 (the water does taste swampy as previous yelpers have stated, Waukesha water? Extra radium in mine please!). We know the menu well so we ordered when we received our beverages (Soup/Killer Bread Combo, and a Tuna Salad) alright, so far so good. A few minutes went by and our server strolled by letting us know "all food will be received in the order the tickets are submitted" Oooooooooooooo Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.....got it. No more quick turn lunch service here! We contemplated leaving after seeing almost every table occupied but very few tables with food on them. We decided to stay and placed our bets on food arrival time, I said 12:20 and my buddy said "no way" 12:30...........our food arrived at 12:35. Food quality was excellent as always, the Potato/Leek Soup was good although now served in a smaller, fancier bowl with a little handle on it (I think the handle is there so you can pick up the bowl and conk yourself in the head with the bowl to bring yourself back into reality that there is no way you were going to get in and out of here in under an hour on your lunch break). Killer Bread portion was smaller too but quality was still there, very tasty. My buddy said his salad was great, just disappointed it took 30+ min. to make a tuna salad, ladle some soup into a bowl, and fire a piece of bread under a broiler. When we were issued our bill, our server was surprised that we had our debit cards in hand, ready to pay (12:47 at this point), another lady approached the bar with cash in hand, they were ready to get out of there too, in house for an hour. Nobody that dines here is going to balk at the food cost, now more than ever people are willing to pay for a good meal as long as the experience is there as well. "Jack" up your sandwiches by a buck each and get more help, the corporate crowd and silver hair ladies lunches dining on their hubbies dime are not going to bat an eye! I'm sorry, but for us on a weekday lunch outing the wait was just way too long. We all understand the "slow food" movement but this was a little ridiculous. If Jack's new business plan is being properly executed and the results are what you see reported above we won't be back, and wish them the best! If you have the time "drop in for a sandwich as long as you have an hour or so" their food is very good!

We stopped in here on a Saturday for lunch. It had been on our radar for a few months ever since we first drove by, so it was about time. It's a sit yourself type restaurant - which i like. Its small enough that you're just not another number, yet big enough such that it's not awkward. They have wine and beer if you're interested. My girlfriend and I just had waters and soda, but maybe next time we'll have a few Spotted Cows. So i usually don't write about water, but this was nostalgic - if water can be nostalgic. Either you love it or you hate it, but it brought me right back to drinking water out of the hose when i was 10. Its a memory that i could only stomach about a half a glass worth, but it has a uniqueness that i enjoy in small doses. The menu is kind of like Panera - many sandwich and salad options with a few soups. You can do the half sandwich/half soup or salad combo just the same. Though, unlike Panera, its more personable and you get the feeling that the staff genuinely appreciates your being there. I got the day's special and a cup of broccoli monterey soup. The special was basically a fancy roast beef sandwich on ciabatta roll. I hadn't had a roast beef sandwich in some years and this sandwich may have convinced me to start ordering them more often. My girlfriend got the ham sandwich and a cup of soup just the same. The sandwich was on a deliciously tangy, and chewy sourdough. I liked to see the ham was hand cut. I can't say i've seen that in a restaurant before, but i think it's a testament to the crafty, old timey chef they have back there. Very good!

Cute little spot that I expected to be over-run by the 65 and up set (though maybe coming in around 1pm lessens the chances of running into your grandmother's lookalike?) The menu is what you'd expect from a small lunch only spot; various salads and sandwiches and a couple of soup selections. They were crowded so my aunt and I sat at the bar, which was stocked with a surprisingly large wine selection. I had the egg salad sandwich on some of the most delicious bread I've had in a long time (potato chive or something?) and a cup of broccoli cheese soup. Both were tasty and not at all bland like I've often encountered in similar lunch spots. My aunt had the chicken salad on a bed a greens and enjoyed it as well. For dessert we had some sort of warm pumpkin crisp with a massive scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was delicious. Our waiter said that all the desserts are made in house to complement the season. We left stuffed and happy but then made the mistake of wandering into the little shops on the property. Both were so overly scented with some sort of pumpkin or apple spice scent that it actually made me feel sick. Do yourself a favor and go in those first if you feel so inclined. I have no idea how the women working could possibly stand the smell.

Jack's Cafe is an idyllic little cafe tucked back away from the main traffic on Bluemound Road. What was once a homestead is now the home of the restaurant, a quilt shop, and a country antique store. The gardens here are a real treat - they provide a beautiful backdrop when dining outside. The menu here is a bit limited, but both my wife and I were able to find several items that piqued our interest. We started with an order of Killer Bread, which was quite good. I had ordered the Baked Ham sandwich and my wife ordered the Chicken Salad sandwich on cranberry bread. My wife said that her meal was very good; she enjoyed the artisan bread and the fact that the sandwich was not overly mayo-ed, which can be a common problem at a lot of sandwich shops. I thought the baked ham was outstanding and I really enjoyed the sage-mustard-mayo combination. When we went, there was one person working as wait staff, but we didn't notice too much slowness - she was busy, but she was over to check on us quickly enough, and always quite polite. Overall, we'll definitely be adding this to our often-frequent list. With the great food and charm of the place, it was a real treat.

Jack's is great!!! They let me try the homemade soups before ordering, and were very friendly. The food was great, and I have no complaints. Really enjoyed!

Dear Jack, Cumin does not belong in creamy coleslaw. It ruins it, actually. All the food I've had at Jack's has been unremarkable. I want it to be awesome so badly, because I'm in love with the quaint, historic building. I love the exposed fieldstone walls, the covered porch, and the landscape. Oh how I would love to love the food... but I don't. Its taste doesn't offend me, but I walk away so bored. Veggie sandwich: good, not great. I love veggies, and this was a good sandwich. Just not like, wow, that's a freakin good sandwich. Turkey sandwich with cranberry bread: never again will I order. It just wasn't very good. The turkey was the watery sort that you get at the grocery store... just not my thing. Coleslaw: overpowering cumin flavor. Yuck. Lemonade: "is this Kool Aid?" Said I. Waiter service: Uber slow. Consistently slow. Every time. I'll dine at Jack's again, but it will likely stay at a solid 3 stars for me.

Sad that this place is only open for lunch, and with limited hours. I've had their turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich and it was fantastic. That's all I've had each time I've been there, it was so good. Service has always been good, though "relaxed" sometimes - not good when you're in a hurry. But that's my fault. Adorable place, though a bit off the beaten path. Overall I'd love it if I could come here more often, but their hours prevent that from happening.

I'll make this short. They only serve lunch. Menu consists of primarily sandwiches (not toasted or paninis, but just sandwiches). Variety is extremely limited. The sandwiches all have mayo on them (flavored in one way or another). Those are all facts.

This is a favorite lunch stop. It's simple...mostly sandwiches and soup. Love the killer bread. Great ambiance. Recommended if you are in the area, but don't drive too far.
