A friend of my wife's invited us out here for a low key birthday celebration. I reluctantly agreed to go along, wary of run of the mill bar food. Steve's is about 3 miles north of Watertown, on the old 26, and that's a problem for them as they've lost a ton of business since the bypass opened. That's a shame, because Steve's was a pleasant surprise. It looks like a bar from the outside, but the inside is pleasantly updated, with HD televisions around the bar. There is a fairly large seating area as well, and sand volleyball courts for summertime leagues. They have a full kitchen, with a menu featuring 5 dinner entrees, along with a host of appetizers, sandwiches and other bar food. Saturday was prime rib night, so I went with the friend's recommendation. In addition to prime rib, they were featuring sirloin and tenderloin, along with tuna. All of the dishes were about $2 - $3 cheaper than at regular restaurants. The 8 oz. prime rib dinner was $18 and came with a salad or soup, au jus, a bread stick and choice of potato. The meal came in a timely manner, and the prime rib was surprisingly good. I would stack it up against just about any other restaurant. The jus had just a hint of peppercorn. I had the baked potato, and it was done just right. Not a huge beer selection (primarily domestics), though you could get Spotted Cow on tap. People of Watertown, Steve's Bar is actually one of the better restaurants in town, and it deserves your business.
