Great place to eat and drink, plenty of room, good food at a more then fair price.look out the window at the river and you think you are up north. Good fish fry and the Sunday brunch is hard to beat.the rock is just what Watertown needs.

We love the wood fire pizzas! The service is always top notch and friendly. Our favorite pizza is the lobster, but we've had several and all are very good. Watch the oven though, as you want to make sure it has been firing for a good while or the cook time has to be a bit longer: longer cook time equals tough crust. Easy to remedy though; we simply asked the bar tender to fire it n up, as we were planning to have a pizza and he did.

My wife and I eat at On The Rock regularly. We enjoy eating in the bar or sitting on the patios. Great sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and great wood fired pizza. EXCELLENT beer selection on tap. Great place to watch a game. No gourmet food here, but a nice atmosphere and view.

This is actually a gem in the rough. Name of "On the Rock" appropriate as in it needs some polishing but has enormous potential. Allow me to explain. I first went to this place when it was Settler's Bay. It was always busy back then when one day we drove up to find it had closed. We liked it because it is a beautiful building, awesome setting on the river, great food and great drinks. It was half way between where my relatives live and where I live so we would all drive out and meet here. It is now and has been for some time under new management. I don't know much about the owners but from what I have heard they are doing a good job. So I stopped in just the other night. It was a Thursday and the dining room was empty. I and my party were honesty worried. Though there were people in the bar and at some tables in the bar no one was in the dining room. Do people know something we don't know? There was a sign that said to seat ourselves which I don't really care for but ok. Our table was a little bit sticky as in it wasn't wiped off well enough after someone's maple syrup. We were now even more worried. Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly and got things going well right away. The menus were different from what I remember as they were more of a pizza menu than a dinner menu. But there were some nice entrees offered of steak, walleye, etc. The food came timely. Each dish was done perfectly. The steak was excellent and so was the Walleye. We were all very happy with our food. The place is a little dumpy out front. There was a pile of some stuff out front that I'm not sure what it was it it made the place look a little run down. In my opinion a little cleaning up out front could really improve first impressions. Ultimately the food and drinks need to be good and they are. The place is a little hard to find as it is off the beaten path. We got free tickets to the local theater with our meal which was unexpected. We plan to head out again for film and another nice meal On the Rock in the Rough.

From East Gate Inn to Settler's Bay the name and the food has changed often enough over the years. It recently opened as "On the Rock" (as in Rock River) and we (party of 8) were there on a Wednesday at 6pm. Most of us had the Fish Fry (Wednesday Special). Unfortunately their "real Cod" (their words!) comes from the Atlantic as it is shipped in from China (how does that make sense?). Unfortunately, it's on the "AVOID" list ( montereybayaquarium.org/… ). So, I can't recommend it in general. More specifically, unlike most places where you get a basket of baked and fried fish, here you had to choose one or the other. You could not have both, as they were priced differently. The coleslaw and potato salad were given "Ah it's okay" reviews. Everyone agreed that Settler's Bay had had the better fish fry (and that East Gate Inn had had much better coleslaw) than On The Rock. I tend to love french fries, but the taste wasn't worth the serious salt intake, in my opinion. One of us had the Arizona Chicken, a slighty spicy sandwich. Portions were large and served with potato chips. I was told it was "good." I had a 10" green pepper and pineapple pizza. It was a thinner crust and both smelled delicious (and more importantly) tasted delicious. The service was good (e.g., friendly and paid attention to our table by stopping by several times). One caveat, however, it wasn't that busy. I think our waitress had no more than 3 tables while we were there, so I can't vouch for what it is when the place is jam-packed. I guess I'd go back for the pizza if we needed some place to get together, but we'll probably head to the Elias Inn for fish fry next time. (Oh they do serve Sprecher Rootbeer, so 2 thumbs up for that!)

Beautiful view of the rock river. The place needs a little sprucing up to really be a hit but otherwise the feel of the place is friendly. Good food and great potential. Reasonably priced drinks and friendly wait staff.
