Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
My family and I decided to meet in Watertown to celebrate my Sister-In-Laws birthday. The place was packed when we got there so we were given the last booth. I could definitely tell why it was the last. The booth that myself, my daughter, and my sister-in-law were sitting on was broken. As in not attached to anything on one side and sliding down. First opportunity we got we asked to be re-seated at a booth next to ours. Much better. The waitress, although very nice, took forever to do everything. Drinks that were ordered took 20 minutes. Glasses of water sat empty and not offered to be refilled. The food had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. The bread stick that came with my meal was better suited as a drumstick rather than something that was meant to be ingested. We have all decided that we will never return here. I have been to other apple bees and I was very surprised at the very poor conditions and service of this one.

The place was practically empty, three other couples, yet the waitress was no where to be seen. When we asked to spilt the check, she made it seem like it was such a hassle and a burden.

The first time I ever ate at an Applebee's was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At that time, didn't know what an Applebee's was, but when one of my co-workers suggested we dine there.........I figured "why not", we don't have it in Hawaii. Since then, I've been to a few Applebee's across the country...........today, for an early supper, I strolled on into an Applebee's. Originally, I was gonna meet one of my friends from California do go to supper tonight, but since his flight got cancelled due to the Chicago tower fire (he had to be rerouted to another state),.........and was coming in late, way after supper time........so I had to dine alone. :( Upon walking into Applebee's, I decided to eat something called the "Roma Pepper Steak". It's basically a Sirloin Steak cooked with a pepper relish, and it came with two sides - Red Potatoes, & a Grilled Portobello Mushroom capped stuffed with a creamy white wine artichoke cheese spread. The Roma Pepper Steak was just okay for me.........nothing special, but the best part about this dish was that it was very low calorie, just 510 calories. Why did I eat this you say???? Well, for dessert...........I ate this - The "Triple Chocolate Meltdown"..........it was Na, Na, Na N.A.S.T.Y!!!!!!! Yes folks.....feast your eyes on this decadent dessert!!! It's a magnificently moist chocolate cake with fudge pumped into the center. And it will erupt upon your first bite, with all the chocolate fudge goo ooooooozing out from the cake! This NASTY cake is served with a scope of vanilla ice cream on the side, and it is drizzled with hot fudge! Yes folks............this dessert is 2360 calories!!!! And I am the proud man that consumed all of this! Buwahahahahaha! Looks like I gotta hit the gym tomorrow! :) Ooooooh, my stomach!

I was in Milwaukee for a conference, and needed a halfway point between Milwaukee and Madison to meet up with friends. They suggested this Applebee's. I thought, if there isn't anything more Middle America, then I don't know what it is. Well, I was wrong and pleasantly surprised with my experience at Applebee's. We got there around 7 on a Friday, and there wasn't a problem with getting a table. We had a great server, I forget her name, but she was attentive and nice during our whole meal. There was a special going on with Brewer's tickets, where if you ordered a Trio or Sizzling Entree, you received a voucher for a free ticket. Not a bad addition to the meal. We started with ordered a Trio Appetizer thingy. It had sliders, wonton tacos, and mozz sticks. The sliders stood out as being particularly good. For dinner I had a club house grill. A basic sandwich that was pretty good. Nothing stood out as being particularly exceptional, besides the fact that it was, well, pretty good. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. No dessert for us, as we had other engagements back in our cities to get to. Like most other restaurants in this category, I expected a consistent meal, and that is what I got. On a side, there were a couple families with loud children. Get a hold of your kids! But overall it was a very nice meal, and would be 3.5 stars if I could give it.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
