Driving past Chissy's this week, I remembered this was the worst meal I have ever had. A few years ago I was dragged out to Chissy's by a local friend. I had a steak at dinner that I literally could not eat. It couldn't be cut with a knife. It looked and tasted like a strip of deep-fried car tire. Everything is deep fried. The silverware slips in your hand from the grease that clings to everything in the joint. The entire place smells like a McDonald's Fry Vat. I remember attending the local high school sport award banquets here and always feeling sick afterward. I'm done with this review because I can almost taste the grease thinking about it.... avoid at all costs.

Used to be the best Old Fashioneds around...made from scratch, no mix. Stopped there tonight and had an OF. It was terrible. The food used to be very good too. Now it's mediocre at best. Broasted potatoes used to be a highlight. Now it's a lowlight. Too bad. Another classic bites the dust . :-(

awful. The clam chowder wasn't fit to feed to an alley cat. It STUNK so badly like rotten fish, we had to send both of ours back. Then the fish fry came. It was rubbery, fishy tasting, and disgusting. The best thing about this place is the packaged bread sticks.

Meh, I've had better food than Chissy's. My dad got sick off their food, though.

This is one of my family's favorites, especially if we're in the mood for awesome fried chicken, which they call "broasted," whatever that means. Not a fancy place by any means. Sort of in the tradition of the old supper clubs, but they don't make you hang out at the bar while your food is being prepared. Just a regular family restaurant with good, basic menu items. The salad bar is my favorite because it has picled beets, pickled herring and tubs of spreadable cheese for the basket of crackers on every table. Wait staff is always friendly, and though we only go in there a couple times a year, they treat us as if we're regulars. They have a big neon sign out front that lets you know if there's immediate seating available. Usually not crowded when we go between 5 and 6 pm. UPDATE: Just ate there again last week. One word of advice, go with their fried items, anything else is mediocre at best. I usually get their fried fish or chicken. Both are great. This last time, wanting something a bit healthier, I opted for the baked halibut. Couldn't finish it. My son's burger, from the kids' menu, was also pretty rare.

The thanksgiving buffet was full and plenty. My family was very pleased by the selection and the dishes themselves. The chef made a few dishes for us to order because we had 2 vegans and 2 vegetarians in our group.. Very accommodating! We will definitely make this apart of out Thanksgiving tradition!

It was my first time here and I didn't have high hopes because of the other reviews. The restaurant is very dark. When we first walked to the host podium no one was there to greet us because the host was chatting with others at the bar. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant which felt very uncomfortable. The menus didn't have good descriptions of the food. It didn't have a section for drinks or sides and the appetizer section wasn't very clearly labeled. The food was average for the price you have to pay. Our waitress was very nice but she was a little awkward when helping our table. For the same price there are better quality restaurants without the uncomfortableness.

Great service and we were a difficult group as we had 2 vegans and 2 vegetarians, they went out of their way too accommodate is. Even though we were there on Thanksgiving we explained the situation of our group and they made adjustments for us. Not only that but the food was very good, I highly recommend them and look forward too continuing to going there.

Warning, this place fraudulently charged my credit card $340 - reporting them to the police!

There are better places to stop for a meal. The cod was good but was lacking in seasoning that would add flavor. The salad bar was average.

This dive is actually a gem. I particularly like their revolving selection of desert torts. A tort is a layered desert made in a square cake pan which comes in various flavors such as heath bar, snickers, and blueberry cheese cake. It's similar to the seven layer salad concept except in desert form. The salad bar is small but overall it is one of the best I have ever had. It has blue cheese which most bars don't have and a good selection of delicious home made dressings. Friday fish fry is available and I like their steaks. The divey atmosphere is one of the few let downs.
