Stop here today for a late lunch and I am soo happy we did. This is a pretty laid back place and we were greeted as we entered. And our waitress came immediately to take our drink orders. My husband and I had the fish tacos with orders of sweet potato fries. They were delish! And a bit spicy which we both loved. The comment below was right. Definitely get those sweet potato fries. They were the bomb! Now, our kids were picky and ordered hamburgers from the regular menu, and two even shared one burger because they are big and beefy. They were soo accomodating. Since our ones that shared, had cheese on one half and plain on the other. They even cooked it that way! That was soo awesome! I had every intention of putting that cheese on for him. But their cook did it. My kiddos had the regular fries and they loved them. Our waitress was great. Super attentive, and check up on us often. We will definitely go back! I wish we found this place sooner! And, if your are a sports fan, they had the games on to watch.... This little place is on the water, and has boat access. Even a boat launch on the property. Parking for us regular non-boat trailer people was across the street. But that was just fine. I'd park down the street to eat there again! Can't wait to try some of their other fish dishes! Super moderately price. We, a family of 5, ate with two drinks for $50 which is not bad at all....

Great food, friendly staff and even better drinks. Love going here and has an awesome atmosphere.

Outstanding meal outstanding Bloody Marys had the trio of burger sliders 2 with bacon the other was the black and blue on Delicious pretzel rolls perfectly prepared service from Brittany our waitress who offered suggestions was excellent, looking forward to coming back soon

My husband and I love this place. We live nearby and never knew it existed on the beautiful Lake Elizabeth. I had lived in Florida and the owner Carlo captured the food and decor of the tropical paradise beautifully.. Please stop by for the best seafood and burgers. This is a hidden gem that needs to be tried once and quaranteed that you will return.
(5)Julie C.
Great food, great atmosphere. I love coming in here for a cocktail and and appetizer at the bar, it makes me feel like I am definitely on vacation. The Fillet Mignon Sliders are the best.
(5)Al G.
For where this place is and in retrospect, amazing... Had the Duck Tenders an original as I know of and Awesome... The Grouper sandwich (smiling thinking about it) above and beyond the best non red meat sandwiches I have ever had ever. I live on the S. Side of Chicago and would be up to go back there for dinner if a friend was wiling, I'd go with a pocket full of $ just to eat or love to go for lunch or dinner after a day of fishing on the lake. No Hipsters, go to Kumas
(4)Kelsey O.
Best food around! Drive your boat over and dock at their pier. You can get delicious sea food and take it out to eat on the boat.
(5)Nicole H.
We've lived on Lake Elizabeth for 5 years now and this has been a WELCOME addition to our town! We take all our visiting friends and family to the "tiki bar" for lunch or dinner and they are amazed by the quality of food...my mother actually said "I can't believe I'm eating the best tuna of my life out of a plastic basket..." ha ha...great place. The fish spread is ridiculous!!!! Just note that if you go on a monday or tuesday after all the weekenders leave, they may be out of a lot of their menu items...that's the only bummer I've ever had there:)
(5)Christine K.
Small, but worth the wait- super great food, drinks, & atmosphere. Raw oysters available on select days. Park across the street (unless you came by boat!)
(4)Guy R.
The food was great. Everything from the oysters and lobster bites that we started with to the Grouper tacos and Ahi Tuna that we had for dinner. The menu has something for everyone. They were very busy but made sure we were well taken care of at the bar until our table was ready. Food was served quickly, hot and perfectly done. Fun was had by everyone. Enjoy.

A sure indication summer is slowly on its when you're here. Bar is perfect offering anything cold with the appropriate blender drinks. Great apps and entrees. Best time is just before sunset as the overlook offers a beautiful view. Gets busy on Fridays and Saturdays so plan ahead with reservations (pretty sure they take them).

Ate here for lunch today. Locals rave about this place and for years I have riden by it on my bike without stopping. My mistake. Today wifey and I were looking for something different so we took the cruise to twin lakes. On the back Side of the lake is a trip worth taking. Started with beefsteak tomatoes grilled and then broiled with amazing chunks of bleu cheese. Wow is all I can say other than a taste explosion in the mouth. We are currently lo carbing so burgers without buns has gotten real old as most are dry hockey pucks and the bun kinda masks that. Not here. PERFECTLY cooked burger with awesome sear on outside and perfect medium juicy goodness inside. I had yet more bleu cheese and wifey had Gouda and avocado. Hers was awesome too! Really cute inside with large bar where most folks sit. Not too many tables but one can be scored with a reservation. Hope to be back again before they close for the season and definitely back next year. Super cool place with solid food.

Open already for 2014 season...and I'm waiting for a table. Reservations are the way to go. Check the specials board before ordering. Surprise...the raw oysters here are the bomb. Pro: Great view of the south end of the lake Con: you have to park across the road and walk to this place because of the docks there is boat trailer parking only Popular place with the locals. The largest tables seat 6 comfortably. Food is available at bar seating. Over-all, a fun, colorful, enjoyable experience with good food.
(5)Melissa S.
Looking for the unexpected? Try this tiki bar. First glance the restrooms are outside and most of the seating is at the bar but then you'll try the food. As a first timer wanted to try something unique so had the beefsteak grilled tomatoes with crumbled bleu cheese. One word -delicious! Grill marks on bottom and perfect toasty brown on top. Served with grilled toast points but you won't need those extra carbs to enjoy these rich summer fruits. My best test of a new place is the burger. This time I ordered the Gouda and red peppers burger without the bun. Once again perfectly cooked with great unique flavor combo. Also liked that the red onions were see through thin sliced which is perfect for adding flavor without overkill. Coleslaw side was fresh and citrusy. All in all I'd go back. Friendly staff, nice fun local and more stuff to try on the menu. What's not to like? The swivel chairs at the bar can be tricky to get settled into. But once you're in enjoy the rest.
(4)Edna B.
The bartenders and servers are great! Although I don't know if I would recommend. On multiple occasions, friends and I have heard heard the cook swear and harass the rest of the female staff. Minus the trashy, foul mouthed cook, this place is a winner.
(3)Akira S.
Perfect food. The only place where you can eat fresh fish, oysters, scallops. They have free toy for kids. Prices are affordable. Lake is awesome. The owner is always in and he is great nice guy. We will be back.
(5)Maria M.
Since I researched this place, I went in with no expectations other than what I knew they would offer. I knew that it was a casual tiki bar with plastic ware, outside bathrooms etc., so I will not fault it for any of those reasons. The reason for the low rating? The food! I will sacrifice posh for excellent food any day, actually I prefer that. The food, however, can't be so-so and this was. The duck strips were so overdone and so were my trio sliders. My son ordered a burger, and that was good (seafood place and the burger is good,) and my husband ordered the shrimp Po Boy and said that it was ok. I do have to say that the hostess was absolutely delightful and accommodating, and the waitress was too. We were comped our appetizers because our food took a while (although this wasn't due to our complaint-we were enjoying our company and didn't notice,) but we appreciated that they were cognizant of the time delay. With all the great reviews, I feel like we had an off night with the cooks. I might try again.

Great meeting place just across the border in Wisconsin.....the wife and I met our camping friends here on Friday on the way up to Kettle Moraine state park. Perfect meeting spot if you're venturing to Wisconsin via route 12. Spotted cow by the bottle should be enough said alone....but they have a terrific seafood menu to boot. Love the restaurant theme and location is right on the lake. Ordered the blackened grouper sandwich and the lobster roll, both solid choices.
(4)Mary Kate D.
Nothing special. Service, food and drinks were mediocre at best. Disappointed since its in a good location with a great view of the lake.
(3)Irish M.
A star for the cold beer and another for one of the three sliders being good. The lobster roll was no good at all.
(2)Monica H.
Had shrimp cocktail, lobster roll and tomato appetizer -so good! All of it. It is a little hidden gem in twin lakes Wisconsin - who would have guessed. Cold beer, good seafood. Yum. Impressed

Went on a Saturday night and was so glad that someone in our party of 4 thought to call ahead for reservations. This place was packed! I was a little annoyed that they make their customers park across the street so that the cars with the boats and trailers can park in their lot. Really?? And there are signs saying your car will be towed if you park there. But we drove an hour to get there so we parked across the street instead of leaving. The food was pretty good but I was disappointed that the menu is mostly just sandwiches. The servers were very attentive but definitely move you along. They even bought our last round of drinks if we would agree to move over to the bar. I understand that other people are waiting but we had JUST finished eating. I'm not sure if it was worth driving an hour for or if we'll ever go back again. It was nice but that's about it.

Looking for something new on a Friday night.....started my search to come up with this "diamond in the rough". Kudos's for the Tiki Bar atmosphere....great location for the lake lovers....we don't boat but, enjoyed the water and sunset! The outstanding part of this place was the food. Lobster Po-Boy and Grouper Sandwiches were out of this world! Had some appetizers of Guinness Onion Rings and Alligator Bites....yum! Tropical Long Islands were flavorful and would love the recipe! The atmosphere is casual...come as you are....we were lucky to only have two so we sat at the bar and had fun. The unfortunate down fall was the wait staff we had. The bartender was friendly from the start and then it was almost like she was avoiding us....waited on the parties on both sides of us and seriously felt like she tried not to make eye contact!!! Was very weird and put a damper on the evening. We are pretty good patrons, friendly....courteous and good tippers....so hopefully they can re-train them to understand their patrons are the people they should be friendly to so that they want to come back! Will recommend...and will visit again....was still fun!
(3)JW W.
I went here with my sister and we both had burgers. I make my own burgers and they did a good job!! Very tasty meat! And the onion rings where home made!! 5 stars from us!!! Go get a burger u will love it!! We will return for sure!!!
(5)Lauren H.
Excellent sea food, great place to have a quick bite to eat. Wouldn't recommend being a place I would bring friends to hangout. As soon as you're done with your meal, they rudely take away your table, while your still having drinks. After you just spent a hefty amount on food.
(3)Erin D.
Awesome idea and location. Bartender was very friendly and bragged how much she loved her job, and you can tell. Beer was cold and the wings were hot and crispy. Can't wait to go back on a hot summer night.
(5)Jody R.
As usual, fabulous meal. I am so impressed that on an early Monday afternoon that they have a crowd. Perfect caprese salad, grouper tacos and king crab claws. We will be back soon.
(5)Zach B.
This is a great little "dive...ish" type bar somewhat hidden off to the side of the road. Not sure about the tiki theme but what do I know about decorating. Stopped here with a couple friends and was actually really surprised with the place. It's a fun little atmosphere and a nice place to have a beer and some food. Speaking of food, it's great here. I've stopped by twice now, had a burger the first time and sea food the second and would recommend both. Before you plan a big group get together here you should know the indoor dinning area is small, and I mean small. I wouldn't recommend bringing a big group of people here and expect to sit inside because it's probably not going to happen. If you show up at prime time you'll probably have to wait a while too but you're sure to get a good meal at fair prices.

I am going to drop this cool waterfront bar a star because Kristen says the BYOB is gone, if it every existed, and the excellent oysters are only on the weekend. So sad''' We recently struggled to find something we really wanted to eat midweek lunch. Sand Bar is a LARGE bar with some good bar food, that has great oysters ONLY on the weekend. The good news is there IS a new wine list that looked pretty good, but they were also out of most of their alleged wine list last year, so beware. Food is erratic like the oysters and wine. Definitely a beer crowd, and service goes to the regulars first and second. Call first and ASK what is on the menu and if they are open. Good luck.
(3)Mike M.
Great food! Better than a trip to chili's. Great menu and the view of the lake is phenomenal! Great selection of beer and other beverages. It sucks that they close it down for the winter. Went can't Wisconsin be a warm climate?
(5)Clark S.
After living in the area for years we stumbled across this place. We love everything about it. Great food, service, people and the view is breathtaking. We go every week every week with the kids hope to see you there!
(5)Juliana R.
The sliders on pretzel buns are delicious, and you can choose any three of their burgers! Do not leave without trying the tropical Long Island iced tea! You will be ready to party after only 1!
(5)Joe B.
I was shocked today to find such a good fish house in such an unlikely place. Very good food. Great view and location. Nice server. If they carried Coke instead of Pepsi I would have given them five stars.
(4)Gabrielle F.
My favorite place! Seafood is fresh and delicious! We love the grouper sandwich and the oysters. Such a fun and relaxing atmosphere!
(5)Gwen T.
This is a bar with food- there are tables, it is a bit of Florida right here in Twin Lakes WI- the decor is super cute. They have many beers and fun beverages, but our family with our two pre-teen children dined there tonight- for the food. Good service, good food and the owner is very nice, he is there checking in with everyone. We had burgers- great, mahi sandwich -very good and sweet potato fries, and a buffalo chicken wrap and calamari- all the food was very good - service was quick. We had about a 10 minute wait for a table, but it was quick. This is probably the best food in Twin Lakes.

Came here for lunch last week with a coworker that lives down the street from the place. Nice little place right on the lake, they had the windows open as it was a gorgeous day outside. The breeze coming through coupled with the beautiful sparkling of the sunlight off the waves really made it difficult to go back to work! It's a pretty small place, an island bar in the middle of a room with tables wrapped around in a U-shape. We were greeted by the bartender as we walked by to get to our table and then a waitress was there right away to take our drink order. She came back several times throughout the meal to check on us and refill our drinks. They had a lot of fish and seafood based sandwiches and dishes so I tried the Po' Boy sandwich and my colleague had the Blackened Grouper Sandwich. Both were fantastic! I tried some of the Grouper too and it was cooked perfectly. They came with a side of fries or for 50 cents you could get Sweet Potato Fries. You have to spend the 50 cents for those, they were amazing! Sandwiches were in the $9-13 range, pretty reasonable for the sized portions. The food took a little longer to come out then I would have liked seeing as it was a light lunch crowd and there wasn't anyone at the bar which is why I have removed a star. I can't comment on the nightlife, but my friend I was with has gone there for late drinks on the weekends many times and has always enjoyed themselves. The service was great, the view even better, and the food surprisingly good for this little place in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Twin Lakes, WI!
(4)J J.
Atmosphere is good, sliders were good prices are reasonable but portions are modest
(3)Brett L.
We love going to this place. My favorite is the lobster roll made in a wrap and they always have great bruschetta and fresh oysters once in a while. It is a great place to go to unwind after work or go and have a nice lunch. Very friendly and family oriented.
(5)Danny H.
Great atmosphere, casual and laid back. Small, but diverse menu, and check the specials board. Oysters are Fri, Sat, and Sun only, but they are as fresh and tasty as you can get anywhere! Burgers are great, cocktails are divine, and the location is quaint and nicely located right on the lake. Hidden little gem that is a must try if you anywhere close in Northern IL and Southern WI. A FL vacation in Twin Lakes.
(5)Melissa K.
We love this place! It's really close to our lakehouse and is the best to grab lunch or dinner after being on the water. The food is delicious and better then anything we've had in the area we love the burgers, filet sliders wraps appetizers they have awesome frozen drinks (daiquiris, margaritas ext) it's definitely worth checking out!
(5)Todd L.
Sad that summer is coming to an end which means that eating at the Sand Bar will come to end as Carlo (the owner) normally closes during the winter. Not sure how late he'll stay open this year, but I wish it was open year round! Although there are still some dishes I have had on the menu, I've enjoyed everyone. Last week I had the tuna sandwich and I could only eat about half of because the portion of tuna was huge and delicious. Nicely seared, rare on the inside how I'd asked for it, with a tasty pineapple slice on top. Hmmmm good. Earlier in the week I had the Buffalo Chicken wrap and it was great. Nice and spicy with the chicken pieces having a nice crispy coating. Combined with sweet potato fries and I was set. My wife had the Smoked Salmon BLT which is also wonderful. Nice change over a standard BLT.
(5)Shawn L.
This is a fun place on Elizabeth lake. I had the oysters which were excellent (they rate among the best fresh oysters available anywhere) and fish tacos and a po-boy sandwich. The food was fresh, hot and tasty.
(5)C N.
Based on the other reviews, we decided to try out the Sand Bar with some friends. The blacken grouper was delicious and so were the french fried sweet potatoes. They have awesome burgers as well. $1.50 Bloody Mary's on Sundays! Best of all, we had a very upbead and friendly bartender (Kathleen). We will definitely come back!
(4)R. R.
A hidden gem. Carlo the owner is great. The food even better. A nice twist on the same old bar food. Better quality, fresher ingredients and it shows. The filet sliders are my favorite. Only down side is the biker crowd likes visit on weekends. Careful with your parking or you will get a ticket, you have to park across the street...but the short walk is worth it. The views are gorgeous of the lake and the food is good.
(4)Stan B.
The setting is amazing, the bartenders are quick, the servers are professional, the food exceeds expectations, the prices are more than fair and the crowd is always friendly. I can't think of a better place to celebrate summer. If you don't have a good time than I'm thinking the problem just might be you. :)
(5)Bill W.
Never have been disappointed. Great ambiance, literally just feet off the lake. Menu is extensive which includes a robust seafood offering. Daily drink specials are offered as well. They offer reservations and I highly recommend making one. Great entertainment while waiting for a table is watching the weekend warriors putting in and taking their boats out of the lake.
(5)Jeff N.
Menu looks good. Atmosphere is very laid back. Lots of barflys. Kinda Jimmy Buffetesque. Beer was cold. But then came the power outage. After waiting 30 minutes we left. Looking forward to trying this place in future when they have electricity.
(3)Anna T.
best food in Twin Lakes. Hands down.
(5)Gomez L.
This is very close to me....I can and do ride my bike here on occasion. The grouper sandwich here is delicious and the owner always (used to) make people feel welcome. On my first visit this year, the bar staff was completely unfriendly and seemed like they would rather be anywhere else but behind that bar. We moved to a table and had a LONG wait before anyone helped us. The food was not as well prepared as it has been in the past. Also...the hoochy mamma waitress uniforms have been kicked up a few notches from last year. Drop the ex-strippers from your bar and wait-staff and serve good food again!
(2)L N.
Love this place. Renting a home for the first time this summer in Twin Lakes and will frequent this place. Has anyone heard about the town meeting of some nosey neighbors trying to take the Sand Bar's liquor license away? Please let me know.
