My husband and I stayed at the Audubon Inn and they recommended going into Theresa to visit the local candy shop. Well we went there thinking it was not going to be anything we haven't seen in Milwaukee. Boy were we mistaken.....Joel (who is blind) owns and makes everything and we were both floored by the perfection of all of his candy and chocolate! Joel not only has novelty candy like Jaw Busters and giant jaw breakers but an assortment of Wisconsin wines, cheeses ans salt water taffy. When we went we really thought that he would just have the normal confection chocolate, i.e. bear paws, caramels, toffee, which he does. But he also has chocolate pops in every shape and color imaginable, from animals (we bought a moose) to classic cars, to flip flops, the decision was almost impossible to make. I would have to say that Joel's chocolate is one of the best I ever tasted. I bought one package of 5 dark chocolate covered raspberry bunnies, I was leery, some raspberry filled chocolates are terrible, these are fantastic, it tastes like you are biting into a fresh raspberry, I wished I bought more! This shop is located 1 hour from Milwaukee, WI, I highly recommend going there, to pick up a little of everything and even have lunch! Remarkably....truly remarkable what Joel can create!

I found Joel's online searching for the perfect candy basket. I am in Buffalo NY and no one local could give me what I needed, a beautiful basket of hard candies for a friend going through chemo treatments. One phone call and I received the most amazing service from Caitlin, who "got" what I wanted! She listened to my story and took the time to make the gift basket "from the heart", wonderfully presented by a big stuffed teddy bear . She sent me an photo of what my friend would receive for perfect follow up. The candies were in abundance for a big show, but the stellar service and caring by Caitlin and the store made my experience with Joel's OVER THE TOP WOO HOO. Thanks so much!

A hidden gem in Theresa, Wisconsin. We stopped here for ice cream after visiting widmers cheese cellar. What a pleasant surprise!! Not only did they have ice cream, but delicious fresh made chocolates, as well as local wines, beers, and other goodies. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Joel, who was beyond helpful, recommending other local resources and places to check out. Overall a great experience that satisfied my sweet tooth!!

We stopped in on a drive by after lunch while we were out driving and exploring. A very cute little confection shop on the main drag. All kinds of sweet knick knacks, novelty candy - i.e. giant gummy bear, retro candy - can you say Zotz?! and candy cigarettes?!, local offerings - wine/beer/condiments/etc. Plus chocolates and ice creams. Interesting note: About half way through my ring out I realized that the cashier was sight impaired. I have no idea how he was able to tell which item was what but the total for everything was extremely reasonable compared to a comparable visit to Baskins or DQ type places so I did not worry about it. If you find yourself in small town usa and have a sweet tooth, why not?

We stopped by in Theresa on a trip through the countryside. We needed stamps and went to the post office in town, the lady working there gave us some tips on the local area as an additional bonus, one of which was that we should check out Joel's chocolate shop (Confections For An Occasion) not far from the post office which has some great stuff. It turns out the chocolate is ridiculously good. If you have a sweet tooth (and a good dentist) it's worth coming here and tasting the hand-made chocolate. It's reasonably priced and well worth the trip. The only problem is he's in an older building with no wheelchair access. As someone using a wheelchair this normally would irritate the hell out of me -- and it did, briefly -- until I got a taste of the chocolate gathered by the family members who went in the shop. It's that good. They lose a star in my book for being in an inaccessible location that I wouldn't be able to visit on my own. However they do have a detailed website with ability to order stuff online, and -- as I've mentioned -- the chocolate is great.
