Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Driving through Rhinelander we were dreading the thought of the local bakery being gone. Times are tough and downtown areas seem to be slowly dying off as customers flock to large chains and big box stores on the outskirts of town. I began to worry as vacation and daily donuts go hand in hand. But alas, a local pointed out that Zippy's bought the place out and now serves pizza along with their baked goods. The pizza smells amazing. I say this as I spent a good 20 minutes in here on two separate trips without trying a piece. If it smells as great as it tastes, I'm sure they have a winner on their hands. Looking back, I wish I had tried a piece. But we were here for donuts. I sampled the cake style chocolate donuts, long johns, apple fritters, creams and a variety of other typical donut types. All were very good with my favorite being the long john. There's something great about biting into a donut that melts in your mouth. Also available were some donut holes, coffee cakes, cookies, cakes, breads, and other items anyone would love to have. A steady crowd kept this place moderately busy both trips. People seemed to be really enjoying the pizza so I'll look to come back for a nice slice next time I'm in the area. A nice place for sure.

First off, let me say the pizza is very good. Being from Chicago originally, I can say this is about the closest you will come to Chicago style pizza in the area. Eat in service was a little spotty. When our bill came. our pizza had suddenly jumped about $7 in price. But the waitress was able to remedy it quickly. We also ordered a few donuts to go.. only one of which made it in the bag. My recommendation is to check your bill carefully just to be sure. One last thing... the Chi-town "deep dish" pizza is not deep dish. It is pan pizza.... those from Chicago proper know what I mean... if not, look it up. If you are expecting a true layered baked pie like in Chicago at Giordano's or Malnati's, this will not be it. That isn't to say it wasn't good... it was. It just wasn't a deep dish pizza. I have yet to try other stuff on the menu.. but some of it seems a bit pricey. I can't imagine what their "Chicago Style Hotdog" has on it that requires an almost $6 price tag (especially when you can get a 2 hot dog special with fries for about half that in the city).

I preface this review with a note that we like thin crust pizza...cut in squares...with not too many toppings. Actually, my partner loves NY Style pizza, but that's terribly hard to find outside of NYC. So...we wander into Zippy's at the recommendation of my dad. Could be good, could be a bust. Turns out it was a good call............................ ......................well, except for the extremely slow service which probably should have given Zippy's an overall 3 stars. But since there were no other reviews yet, I decided to focus on the food. And to be fair, we did have some special requests on our order which were all accommodated without issue. We ordered a 16" sausage pizza with 1/2 mushroom and 1/2 of the mushroom half with green pepper. The sausage was good - not very spicy but decent. The crust was thin and crunchy...the sauce had just the right amount of "zip". Zippy's offers New Glarus beer which has become one of my favorites and is a perfect compliment to pizza. We also ordered a salad and some garlic bread. I have to be honest, I didn't try the garlic bread. The salads on the menu were all made with a mix of iceberg and romaine, but since we saw that spinach was offered on some of the pizzas, we asked if we could have a spinach salad. "Sure", responded the young waitress. Unfortunately, though we had hoped for the salad and bread ahead of the pizza, we waited about a half hour before we were served anything (sadly including the beer which we finally flagged the waitress for). And we had to wait for the plates and silverware :( In the server's defense, it appears that she was managing the entire restaurant.................so I had to cut her some slack. Most importantly, the food was very good and we'll be back on our next trip to Rhinelander. Hopefully it will be busier and warrant another hand to help take orders and serve the fare!

Wasn't sure what we'd find after hours of driving through one horse towns on our way back to lower Michigan. Not only did this place have an inventive menu, the atmosphere was fresh and comfortable at the same time. Plus, they offer several beers from a local microbrew. We tried the pizza fries (basically a cheese only pizza with no sauce, cut skinny) as an app. They were good, marinara sauce was great. We ventured out and tried the Cowboy Pizza and it was outstanding. Ample ingredients and well balanced. BBQ sauce, baked beans, Canadian bacon and smoky bacon. If I'm ever back here to try it again, I'll add onions to the mix. The also have traditional pizza combos if that sounds scary to you. My only complaint about the place is the styrafoam container for the left overs. O would have preferred s little pizza box or a piece of foil...but that's just me.

My sister and I had lunch here today; our patty melts were very good, served on dark rye. Service was fast and friendly. The baked goods still look delish :)
