Good very good as always. Service was good and as responsive as she could be. Had the double lamb chop and done to a turn. Hubby had the prime rib which was excellent as usual. Spinach salad to start was good. Will be back.

This was my parents' favorite restaurant. It was the 1st place I took them when I got engaged to my ex. It's the 1st place I took them to meet my current flame. It's the last place I ate with my father. It's the 1st place I ate with my family after my father passed. Knowhatamean???? I, like everyone, get the prime rib. These days I get the littlest cut, and I STILL have leftovers. I don't enjoy pounding down beef, like I used to. But when it's time, here's where you go, and prime's how you do it. Before that sweaty nightmare begins, there's always the epic battle: in one corner the escargot - little garlicky balls of squish. In the other: the blue points - gorgeous horseradish slurpslides!!! Which will I choose??? Next time, maybe I'll skip the prime, and just get double orders of both little swamp aliens?!?!?

Horrible. It started with our having a reservation, showing up 10 minutes early and being told that it would be awhile. Sat at the bar and had to wait a long time to get served. A half hour after not getting seated I asked the hostess about our seating and was told it would be a little longer. The whole time that we were waiting we saw people coming in, waiting a couple of minutes and getting seated before us. Once seated the service again was terrible and it took forever to get our order in and then get our food. The food was bland and nothing to speak of. I will never visit this place again nor suggest it.

All-around great experience. First time there, and celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary. Will definitely be back. Staff was courteous and went above and beyond. We were there with our 2.5 year old for a special meal. The owner (?) brought out crackers and applesauce right when we were seated. Server was very attentive and knowledgable. We LOVED being able to have a wonderful, calm family meal together. Though the decor is a bit dated, the food is fantastic and reasonable, especially given the multiple courses and food quality. (Ask for the off-menu Prime Rib - larger rib option, definitely worth it.)

Love the Corner House for a good piece of meat. Chicago native here and I must say best prime rib I've had. Can't beat the deal, so much food and all for a great price. Bread w/butter to start, delicious cheesy French Baked Onion soup & salad; by the time we received our steak we were so full ended up taking half of it home. NY strip was tender and juicy, cAjun rub was a good call, adds a spice and great char flavor.
(3)Jessica K.
The prime rib is fantastic, as are the steaks. I recommend adding the baked french onion soup to your meal, if you dare. The only thing missing is a scissors!! The decor is perfectly dated, as is the army of bus and waitstaff in black and white. There are most certainly the obligatory Christmas lights hanging year 'round. You will never have to worry about being over or under dressed, and the large staff ensures your drink will never run dry. I will continue driving the over 30 miles from Milwaukee to enjoy a meal here.

The Corner House has been noted as one of the better places to dine in Racine for years, unfortunately they are resting on their laurels. From the entrance and throughout the restaurant it is obvious little attention has been paid to interior which is badly in need of TLC and is very dated. The food is generally good but I doubt if the wine list has been changed in 20yrs.which I commented about to our servers, they agreed . Recently we complained several different times to our servers that when our bills came the charges for our wines were more than on the menu they replied that the wines prices had gone up. We had to pay the higher price and to add insult to injury we found out that the wines we received were not what we ordered. I am glad they didn't do the same on the food. It would be a nice touch to see the owners or premises but that has not happened to us in several years. What a shame that the Corner House is no longer synonymous with a fine dining experience.

Excellent food and service, their reputation is well deserved. While the place could use a little freshening up and a new coat of paint, inside and out, it checks all the boxes when it comes to what really matters.

I came to Corner House a few times this year with my dad for the prime rib and I must agree with John T. that it saved them. We also tried the Chilean Sea Bass which was equally delicious with the Baked French Onion soup! I don't have any complaints on the food what so ever! With that being said, the service was very slow and not good. Our waitress seemed to forget we were at a table and delivered the food super late with no apologies. After the meal we waited a long time for our check and our waitress never came around. We asked a different waitress for our check and she ended up cleaning off our table that was filled with dirty plates for 30 minutes. I was not pleased with the waitstaff at all, but if you choose to come here you will not be disappointed in the food! It kinda makes up for it.

Worst service ever. If I could give zero stars I would. Believe the reviews on here saying the service is bad. They are 100 percent true. We had a large group and the wait staff did not care at all about our party. No refills, no "thanks yous" or "pleases" out of the mouths of our servers. Then, we when we were trying to leave, the hostess tried to make the one person in our party who is handicapped and could barely walk with a cane walk all the way around the restaurant rather than let her walk through the staff area near the kitchen. One of the other wait staff told the hostess to just let her walk through. The hostess was incredibly rude, causing me to swear and then she stopped in her tracks and said "screw it.... Find your own Way out!" So inappropriate. Had she not been so incredibly rude to us and condescending, I would have apologized for my inappropriate comment. However, she treated my mother who is handicapped with such disrespect and contempt that it literally turned my stomach. We will never go back here. And I would suggest that you don't either.

Ruined Mother's Day! I'm so disappointed! Years ago I had the best lobster at this restaurant and recommended the restaurant to many. I drove an hour north this past Sunday so that my Mother could have it on Mother's day and it was a terrible experience! Our reservation of 3 was at 6pm and I sat and watched many people that came after us get seated right away. At 6:30pm a couple whom I was speaking with that told me they didn't have a reservation were seated after only waiting 10 mins with us. We finally got a table around 6:45pm and our waitress was never around. I had to get up and find her 2 times. We didn't get to order until 7:30pm. At this time the prime rib that my brother wanted was sold out. (It was available at 6pm - I'm sure) I was served the wrong soup. Our waitress spoke to us as if she were the "Seinfeld Soup Natzi". Other staff would not help us when we waved to them or asked for help. People around us that were seated after us were finishing their meals by the time we got our salads. Our Lobsters were severely overboiled. Since I knew I was paying $70+ market price for each one, my mother and I tried to choke it down. Butter didnt help so we even dipped them in sugar!!! The lobster was so tough and even flaky that we couldn't get it down. We have never used sugar on lobster nor seen it flaky. We love lobster and this is the 1st time we couldn't bare to eat it. I still can't believe that I paid hundreds of dollars to be so saddened on Mother's day. PS- the manager left early so I couldn't even speak to him and the website is not working for me to even email!

This place is not what it used to be. Ate there tonight my wife had the lake perch. I thought I would try the duck ala orange. Both dinners came with the soup. We had the French onion. It was very salty but had no other taste. The duck was dry and very bland. Perch was bland also. No real seasoning on either dinner. Have eaten here the past with much better dinners. Might be time for an update to this place. It has not changed since the 1980's.

Sea bass and cottage fries cold. One of the o.wners came to table and was drunk. Service was not that great for the price
(2)Becky N.
Came here for dinner after a fun day at the Racine Zoo. I would say that this place is definitely worth a visit. The prime rib was very tasty and tender. The sides were good. The bartender was a hoot. The Owner was super friendly. Our waitress was a little stiff but nice enough. We will come back for the prime rib and the Owner and the bartender for sure.

Traveling from out of town and was a little apprehensive. I rarely eat beef but this was worth it. The food was delicious. The wine options are so-so. The decor feels like you stepped back in time. The service was actually excellent. I think our servers name was Leslie and she was attentive. Maybe they've improved service based on their past reviews. I would go there again.
(4)Sandra B.
If you're in the mood for prime rib or wiener schnitzel, by all means, try this restaurant. If you want anything else, stay away! The walleye and salmon were dry and tasteless, the duck, dry and overcooked. Very disappointing visit. Will not return.

On the recommendation of my friend who has been coming here for almost 30 years I ventured 20 miles south to endulge my prime rib fix. The atmosphere and decor could be defined as 'classic' although it is a bit dated in many regards. Everything about the food screams nostalgia, from the cheese/meat spread plate with butter crackers to the general menu items as a whole and I am perfectly fine with an establishment that doesn't try to change a working formula. The "Trio" appetizer comprised of 2 shrimp de jonghe, 2 stuffed mushrooms and 2 escargot was buttery delight and the leftovers provided a nice sauce to sop up with the complementary bread. The small loaves appeared to be baked in house and were quite fantastic. The prime rib, presumably the highlight of the meal, is where the Cornerhouse dropped to 3 stars. As someone who cooks a pretty mean prime rib I feel as though ample seasoning and a good crust are essential to build flavor. The prime rib at the Cornerhouse on first try was a bit under seasoned and although the temperature was spot on I would have liked a bit more crust/char on the outside. As a whole the Cornerhouse delivers a great experience combining excellent service, nostalgia and classic american entrees into one package.

Skip it! In town on business went on the recommendation of my hotel and yelp cause I do love a good prime rib but... if this is the best Racine has to offer... it's probably best to stick with a well known chain. Chipotle would have been a much better bet. (I hear "Oh Dennis" is great but it was closed tonight). The prime rib helping was huge - service was most accommodating even though I turned up 30 minutes before closing - but the venue is a DUMP! Dated and filthy I found it hard to swallow the food while looking around the room. I'm really sorry to have to leave this review because the waitress was so nice... but it can't make up for the musty dated decor and filth. Some of the walls appear to have evidence of old water damage - Ewwwe! I was most grateful that the lights were low. I know it's tough to make ends meet in this economy - let alone redecorate - but I suggest that a fresh coat of paint on the interior could do the place a world of good. I suspect not a thing has changed since the late 80s on the interior. french onion soup - bland iceberg lettuce salad with one slice of cucumber & tomato / poppy-seed dressing - blah baked potato - had been sitting around all day - blah warm bread was yummy! turtle pie was dry and bland - 2 bites and tossed it.

This place is really awesome. We got there 20 minutes before close on a Saturday night but were still seated and served wonderfully. The owner and waitress were super nice. I got the English cut prime rib with blue cheese on top and my friend got the same without the blue cheese. Meal comes with bread, soup, and salad and a potato side of your choice. We left stuffed and happy. Oh sure, the place is old time, but it is clean and neat and I wouldn't change a thing about it. I highly recommend Corner House.

A group of four of us visited the restaurant for Thanksgiving. My wife won't eat turkey, so we went here on the suggestion of my 81-year-old grandmother (whom joined my wife, kid and me). The appearance was that of a place modestly adorned and not touched up in some time. It's surrounding community is a dump and you need to drive through questionable areas just to reach the destination (almost impossible not to do in Racine these day). Many other reviewers on Yelp and Trip Advisor claimed this was an excellent place for steak and offered great dinner. They were wrong. The ambiance felt like a zombie movie where hoards of undead satiated their hunger on bloody flesh. The only difference, most of the patrons were technically alive (70 years old+) and the flesh was calf or cow. My son had the porterhouse with their blue cheese topping. The topping was excellent, but once I bit into the steak, I had to chew no less than 20 times to get it down. It was incredibly sinewy and tougher than rawhide. My wife had the Shrimp De Jonghe. The shrimp were well-cooked, bread nicely and generously-sized and portioned. It was seasoned beautifully with one overstated guest -- SALT. It was as if they substitute bread crumbs with salt; mixing it with potatoes and clearing off half of the breading did not help much. It penetrated every layer. My grandmother had the prime rib. I cannot report on that. She asks for prime rib well done. I am so opposed to that on every level, I abstained. It is their alleged specialty, so it was difficult to pass up. It's a sin to cook prime rib well done. I had the Veal Siciliano, It is lightly breaded veal and served with sauteed mushrooms, onions and green/red peppers. The veal and vegetables were cooked perfectly. The meat was delicious and tender. However, Salt Lick returned. I had to rotate between that and the cottage fries (which were sad flaccid chips) and multiple cups of water to get half of it down. Besides the mediocre ambiance, service was unexceptional. Not only was it slow, I had to run down service to get beverage refills. This is unacceptable for a restaurant that prides itself on being a quality dining establishment. Even more troubling is their overbearing hand on salt. I am a salt lover and I could not take their heavy-fisted salt crusts. If it is under-seasoned with salt, I have no problem adding it. Considering their patrons are older and many likely are medicated for issues related to high blood pressure, their salt abuse is a bit abhorrent. At $150.00 with tip for four people (with no alcohol), I expected a relatively similar experience to what others referenced here. I will not return. I can get past mediocre areas, lackluster decor, slow service, but cannot overlook tough steaks and stroke-inducing salt intake.

Ambiance is great if you like awful 80's decorating that has not been redone in 30 years. Dirty padded waterproof vinyl chairs on wheels, framed pictures of pastel flowers.and fiber board ceilings with terrible lighting. Felt like an awful assisted living dining room that sorely needed new upholstering, new carpets, and new paint to replace aging wall paper. At 45, I was the youngest person there. Food is a bit pricey, but was great if you like standard Wisonsin fare. That is why I gave it 3 stars. But the ambiance is awful, took a while to shake it off, it, it was so creepty
(3)John T.
The prime rib really saved them here... Service was slow and not very friendly. Was too busy with the regulars. salad was average soup was average, cocktails were small and over priced $7 for run of the mill small cocktail. But the prime was awesome.

My family, their spouses, and kids (party of ten) all dined here on a Saturday evening. A couple fears about the dress code (we didn't think to bring anything but shorts on vacation) were quickly put aside: some people were dressed summer casual, others were dressed for church, but everyone was welcome. The staff couldn't have been better: the hostess greeted us and mentioned they'd been waiting for us to arrive. The waitresses were extremely helpful and attentive, especially so towards our children. Food/drinks were served promptly (a must for kids), and finished items were cleared efficiently. I had the blue-cheese crusted, bacon-wrapped petite filet (one of the daily specials) and tried others' prime rib, scallops, and more. Everything was delicious and prepared perfectly as ordered, and arrived at the same time (despite some of our large party ordering seafood, medium rare steaks, well-done steaks, etc.). The decor is a bit dated, as others have noted, but I think that only adds to the restaurant's charm. Next time we visit Racine, we'll keep this place on the top of the agenda.

It's a decent place, nothing spectacular, but good. We left happy

A Wednesday night about 7 PM. No wait for two people. Food good- standard soups, salad, bread, prime rib, walleye. All just fine. Service good- waitress not super-friendly but competent. It wasn't crowded so went pretty fast. Hostess and owner were very friendly. Decor- awful. Not even retro. Just ugly except some cool light fixtures and the few retro parts like the doors. They should have left it original. Now it looks like a Denny's or something. Prices- kinda high but OK for an occasional splurge. We'll go back once in awhile.

Really, I probably think of this as 3.5 stars, but that is not an option. Always worth a visit when looking for a good meal. This is a classic restaurant, in the great supper club tradition. It was the finest dining decades ago, and the menu and atmosphere haven't changed much. It doesn't compete with modern "fine dining" or cutting edge places, and it isn't trying to. Embrace the ambience. It is a well-seasoned and generous serving of meat, preceded by warm bread, soup, and salad, with a potato on the side. And what it does, it does very well. Yes, at a reasonable price. And, It is not adventurous or creative. They specialize in beef, but do have seafood, including stuffed shrimp and lobster. Had the prime rib, because it is their specialty. I was very happy with the selection. Always well seasoned, their prime rib is great. We had no problem at all getting the cuts we wanted. An end cut request was honored. I prefer very rare meat, and that's what I got - but it was tender and warm, which the rare cuts are not always. And, it takes a little work to concoct a "healthy" meal, but they will accommodate all special requests. One member of our party went fairly far off-menu to get a broiled fish with no butter and steamed vegetable side, and it arrived as ordered with no mistakes. Please note that the soups are more than adequate, taste-wise. And that the Corner House is not unique in offering both French onion soup as part of the meal or, listing on the menu, a baked French onion en crock as appetizer. Maybe not inquiring or understanding the menu or overlooking the distinction was just a mistake.

I just love this old school place great place to take a date the prime rib is the BEST I have been to alot of fine places I will drive the 45mins to go here
(5)Nicole H.
I'm not that familiar with dining in Racine, but this place would not survive in the Chicago area. Now, I will say that it is a DEAL. Very cheap for a meal that includes soup, salad, and bread. I had the french onion soup - oddly, no cheese? Maybe this was just a mistake - there was just a soggy piece of bread on top. The soup had good flavor, but not traditional. It was more of a true French soup, being sweet and not salty. The salad was your boring tossed salad. A few carrot shreds and an overly large tomato. Blue cheese dressing was good though. I had green beans instead of potato and they were very good. Nicely seasoned. The reviews all rave about the prime rib and I thought it was just ok. First of all, unless you like your meat medium or more well done, don't even go there. I wanted medium rare and couldn't get it? They said it would be more medium and it was definitely well. The meat was well seasoned, but tough to me because it was so well done. I was told this was fine-dining, but it seemed fairly dated to me. The staff wasn't exceptionally friendly. I wouldn't return based on this experience, but oddly enough everyone around here seems to LOVE it.
(2)TROY J.
Three strikes and your out. The last one was it. Ordered an End Cut of prime rib. Even told the waitress, if you don't have one, I will order something else. What came to the table? A middle cut pan fried! Really? And you are supposedly know as a premier steak place. Booo!
(1)Christine J.
I smiled when I saw the three $$$ for this place. I'm from Chicago and steakhouses are much more expensive here. What you get at Corner House is decent steak and a whole lotta food for $20 a head. A bargain! The 9 oz. prime rib is big. Preceded by soup AND salad AND bread, it's huge.
(4)Sarah C.
VEGETARIANS BEWARE! I went here with a large group and was the only vegetarian. I'm used to having a hard time finding things to eat at nicer restaurants and am pretty flexible as long as there isn't a big hunk of meat on my plate, but there is NOTHING vegetarian on this menu. Not even the salads were vegetarian! When we arrived, I ordered the Athenian salad with no anchovies. The waitress told me that they were not making special salads that day, so I said fine, leave the anchovies on and I'll pick them off. She said that's not what she meant - she meant they weren't making SALADS that day, but everything else on the menu was available. I was shocked! That left me with nothing to eat at all! Everyone at the table received a side salad after soup, but they couldn't make a salad for me? Never going back.

good prime rib, great baked french onion soup ! needs a much updated male bartender never friendley

I grew up going here for this occasion or that, always wonderful. Killer Prime Rib...pssst....(ask for the cut NOT on the menu, trust me) it's the big one. Full meal, great drinks. Service. Dang, I need to get back to Racine.....you certainly don't have to dress up, but it feels better to there... Treat yourself!

Went to Corner House for my birthday/Anniversary. We arrived 30 minutes before they started serving. No problem with that. They do have a bar that you can sit at. We got our table and ordered our drinks. Took our time looking over the menu. Ordered an appetizer combo which consisted of Shrimp De Jonghe, Stuffed Mushroom & Escargot. 2 shrimp, 2 escargot and 3 mushrooms for $12. Little pricey for what you get but excellent flavor. Ordered Dinner. I ordered the Porterhouse (medium). $31.95 Cooked to perfection. Excellent steak. Wife ordered the Orange Roughy Oven Broiled. $11.95. She said tasted really good, but was a little soggy on the bottom. Mom ordered the Stuffed Shrimp with Crabmeat. $17.95 She said that the shrimp was excellent and that the crab stuffing was very good. Overall, this is a very good restaurant. Food quality is excellent with some very minor flaws which doesn't take away from the taste of the food. Everything that was included with each meal was very good, especially the bread. Reservations are probably the best way to go unless you don't mind waiting in the bar for a table.
(5)Ella K.
Corner house has the best prime rib you can find in the Kenosha/Racine area. It really is amazing. Also you get salad, soup, and bread beforehand. I would recommend passing on the soup (since it usually isn't that great anyways) and save room for the entree. My boyfriend always gets a steak (porterhouse I think) and he always raves about it but I think the prime rib is still the best. The decor is definitely outdated but that is part of their charm.

We went to Corner House for my birthday. For the special occasion I wanted to try some place new. When we arrived, although having reservations, we still had to wait a substantial amount of time before we were seated. They were crowded, after all it was a Friday evening. We started with with the blue point oysters. Again, it being my birthday, I wanted to try something new. Although I won't be ordering raw oysters again in the near future, it wasn't the taste that turned me away. They were actually quite good, and definitely fresh (thank goodness)!! The french onion soup was unimpressive. I make my own so I admit I have pretty high standards when it comes to onion soup, however theirs did not come close. The taste was OK, not overly salty as many onion soups are, it just reminded me of the Lipton onion dry soup mix in a pouch. Considering the appetizer and bread, soup and salad we could have left there satisfied for the rest of the night. I am glad we didn't. The main entrees were superb. Well worth the wait. I ordered the prime rib which they have won many awards for-- deservedly. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection. My companion had a steak which melted in his mouth. We laughed about how much food we ate before the entrees arrived, and how full we were, but we simply could not stop eating the steaks. Finally, we ordered the turtle cake as a birthday cake. That was the biggest mistake of the night. It sure looked good, but the cake was so dry we both took one bite and left the rest. Even though it was a busy night the service never seemed to suffer. The decor was a touch retro, to the point of almost being back in style, but with food that good, who cares? The prices are reasonable, with our appetizer, entrees, dessert and one drink each our bill was barely over $75!!! What a steal! I am definitely returning to Corner House.

For my last meal in Racine, I wanted to make sure I ate well. I also wanted a big hunk of meat. I've passed by this place everyday and thought to myself, what the hell, why not? The place is basically where you would expect old people to go and get a meal. The place has a wooden 50's appeal to it, a place where you would expect Frank Sinatra to be played. Essentially this is an old school steakhouse. I decided to go with the Prime Rib since the place has it in big letters on its sign. The meal included salad, soup, and bread. The bread was crusty on the outside, and soft on the inside, just the way I like it. The salad was standard although the house dressing seemed as though it came straight from a refrigerated jar. There was a spoonful of dressing in the middle of the plate and it didn't really spread very well. The french onion soup was good although I will have to agree somewhat with the lipton soup packet thought of the previous reviewer. The prime rib was the highlight of the meal. Do I think they have won national awards with the prime rib? No. Is it tasty? Yes. There are three cuts, the regular cut, the English cut, and the cut with all the gristle taken off. I went with the regular cut. Do I know what the English cut is? Nope. Do I care? Not really. This was a good meal for 25 bucks. Decent value. The service was good. Granted it was early on a Tuesday night and the place was not very busy. My entertainment was listening to all the old people gripe about everything ranging from the evils of American Idol to the wonders of discovering Chinese takeout. Overall, one of the better dining options in Racine.

I love this place. It has the best tenderloins in SE Wisconsin. Everything is wonderful: homemade soup, nice salads, variety of sides, wonderful additions, like bernaise sauce, French onion soup, good drinks, too (a nice variey of martinis). This is a special place to go for special occasions. Treat yourself and try it!
