Stopped in here with family to kill a couple of hours. I used to go to Prescott on a regular basis but, it has been years since last being here. The location of this place is nearly perfect! Right on the main intersection, over looking the draw bridge over the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers. Incredible out door seating! It was very quiet when we were here, only a few other customers. We had a few appetizers and they were good. Spicey buffalo wings and stuffed peppers. The servings were reasonable, the food tasty, and well prepared. Service was quite good and friendly. The beer selection is not bad, not great, but not bad, either. The place can get very busy and crowded on weekend nights, especially with customers from boating on the river. They are supposed to have a very good live music show - the venue seems really good for that.

If you go there during the day order the French dip from the lunch menu. It is out of this world delicious!!!!! Tender slow cooked chunks of beef roast. I've never had better.

Road my bike down to this little joint in Prescott last night. What a great little place, the menu had just the right amount of items on it and enough variety to accommodate. I was just looking for something light so I went with the chicken wings and cheese curds. Both were very good. I must say though the chicken wings were probably some of the best I can remember eating in a really long time. They were crispy and very well cooked. I like my chicken wings "naked" with the sauce on the side. The overall feel of the restaurant was a bit small and dark (they did have a deck but I choose to eat inside), but that is what i was looking for. Not exactly biker bar, but not applebees either. Great joint and on my list of places to stop for chicken wings during any motorcycle run that runs me through Prescott!!

My husband and I went to Muddy Waters tonight and the place was VERY cold inside so we wanted to be seated outside. We waited for the host and she said she couldn't seat us a the 2 empty tables because they were for 4 people not just 2. I couldn't believe it. She said we could sit inside and I proceeded to tell her I wasn't dressed warm enough to sit inside. She then said that she would go ask the waitress if she could sit us at her table. She came back and said the waitress said no. I couldn't believe it. Then I asked for a manager and guess what.....there wasn't one. What a dumb policy. I will NEVER go back. I will also tell my friends not to go. The host had blonde hair and young. Chastised us as we were leaving.

I wish we could select no stars because they do not deserve even one star. This place was an extreme disappointment. They pose as a blues bar but the only things "blues" about this place is the two guitars hanging on the wall. It is extremely small and cramped. We called ahead because we've never been here and we wanted a blues place to celebrate our anniversary (big blues fans). Pat Boone playing with thousands Christmas balls hanging from the ceiling is not blues. We started to give it a try and found a table in their back room which only had four tables in the entire room, it was that small. Then they place another family of six in there with loud children. They had us blocked in so that we could not even stand up. We excused ourselves through it all and headed for the door. The waitress chased us down at the front door and when we told her our problem, she turned around to walk away while saying "we don't need you here anyway." Unbelievable! We went across the street to "The Brickyard" and had a wonderful time, including live music.

Average to just above average food--but the prices are what make this place a 3-star place vs. 4 stars. It's too expensive for what you get. Almost all the entrees are $15 or more for pretty basic entrees (like steak or burgers) with some bleu cheese on top. Some of the dishes were $13 but with bleu cheese add another $3 or $4. That's some pricey cheese. I did appreciate the cheap wine. $20-$25/bottle for the quality of wine we got was spot on. I'll go back for appitizers and wine, not for lunch or dinner. There's never good parking--be prepared to park on a side street and walk. The downfall of having so many wisconsin bars on the same street!

Not to bad but I was hoping it would of been better the food was just average off the Sysco truck food not much for seasoning or imagination

What a find! I was traveling through Prescott for business and needed a nice place to chill out. This joint was exactly what I needed. Good country thick and healthy food and a full service bar. Yes, this is indeed named after the great blues musician Muddy Waters with memorabilia to match. I recommend the Muffaletta (Grilled, shaved salami and ham, peppers on ciabatta) mother of God it is nice. Be sure to walk around and check out the memorabilia on the walls, it's very cool. Right on the St. Croix River so the patio has a great view to match. Enjoy your visit! Quite the little strip as well..

We stopped here after a day trip to the Lake Pepin area. So many of the restaurants were closed on Sunday and with the cold rainy day there were not many people around but Muddy Waters was a great find. The service was excellent - polite and attentive. The food was very good and the atmosphere was quite nice. The only reasons this is not a higher rating is 1. The ribs were only ok- a little dry and not much flavor and 2. The layout is odd, our table was right next to a serving station, and even though it wasn't busy there wasn't a better table, unless it was for a large party. Overall good. We can't wait to come back and enjoy the amazing outdoor dining!
(4)Dave B.
Good flavor, however the shrimp was way over cooked and the au gratin potatoes were way under cooked, still hard actually. Pepper steak was really good and the wife liked the ribs. Cheese curds were over cooked as well, meaning that the cheese was cooked out of them. 30 minute wait on a Tuesday when there are plenty of seats open is a little ridiculous though. If they cooked the food right it would be great, they have good quality and flavor.

There are not enough stars to rate this place. Everything about Muddy Waters is perfection. No place better for food, ambience, drinks, fun, relaxation, whatever. Love!
(5)Felix H.
Outstanding baked Brie appie, excellent salads, and the shrimp salad hoagie was top notch. Highly recommended.
(5)Jamie T.
Very good food! The au gratin potatoes are so delicious! Love the enormous patio out back! Only downside is it's a little spendy, other then that great place to eat with friendly service!
(4)Alexander S.
4 waitresses said they would be right with us. 15min later with not even a drink order taken we left. Too bad, with a patio on the river and good looking menu...
(2)Whitney G.
A little more expensive than the restaurants on the main drag of Prescott, I would say if you're looking for cheaper, you have plenty of options. However, it does provide a classier feel if you're looking for a relaxed environment.
(3)Ellie E.
We stopped and told the cheerful hostess we wanted to sit outside. She gave us 3 options. 1. Roof - order drinks at the bar and sip them on the roof. 2. Main level - dinner served outside. "Upscale" meat and seafood. 3. Lower level outside - bar type food. A bar was located on levels 2 &3. We picked option number 3. If the hostess hadn't warned us that food and drinks were different on the levels... we wouldn't have known. While sitting on the table in the hot sun, everything looks identical. They pack the tables, some with umbrellas, in like sardines. I was WAY less than impressed with the d-bag table of 3 guys next to us that moved the high top table, umbrella with stand, AND stools over so it'd block the sun for THEM, however, allowing it to blind me. That's certainly not the fault of Muddy Waters though, I guess. Food and bevies were great! I ordered the lemon drop martini and it did not disappoint. We shared the cheese curds and veggie egg rolls. Curds were good, albeit average. Egg rolls were decent, but over priced for the small amount. Get the 'beef bites' or whatever they're called. It seemed like everyone around us ordered them and they looked amazing. I was drooling at the table. Service was prompt and polite. We'll be back because the view. Oh man. The view can't be beat! Also, the food and drink, obvi.

It is still a four But it's time for an update Hmmm....borderline five Not to be confused with the Muddy Waters in Uptown Minneapolis, but the quality is on par IMHO. I'm not a huge fan of eating outdoors and never have been, but if you are then Muddy Waters in Prescott is quite the treat. They have a gigantic multi-level patio on the backside of the restaurant which overlooks the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers. Prescott seems to get a ton of motorcycle traffic, but the riders usually seem to go to No Name or Broad Street. Muddy Waters gets more of the boaters, locals and Twin Cities folks who are in Prescott that don't want to go to a biker bar. I have nothing against bikers, just not my bag. The food is spendy given the competition in Prescott, but I think it is worth the extra greenbacks. Had to go back to my standby the Muffuletta sandwich today. So good! Get this if you go here! If you don't like olives, ask them to hold the olive spread but it is what got me to change my opinion on olives. Now, I will get green olives on pizza and I used to despise them. One gripe is only four or five beers on tap. At least one of them is among my favorite - Rush River Unforgiven. I think the guy who came and bothered me about my Winnipeg Jets T-Shirt when I was sitting with my niece maybe had a few too many brewskies. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't bother someone at a Twin Cities bar for wearing Blackhawks gear. You do get some manners problems in the TC exurbs.
(4)Heather D.
Love!! Best place in town! You will never eat a better prime rib, homemade coleslaw or scalloped potatoes than here!!!
(5)Eric H.
Service: very slow, but friendly Drinks: just okay Food: decent Today is the Flood Run, a very popular motorcycle ride that attracts hundreds of people. This restaurant is immediately on the route. No excuse.
(2)Lorraine N.
Very large establishment with a ton of places to sit. They get a ton of people here and are busy on nice days because they have outside seating and who does not want to sit outside when it is nice and enjoy a couple of cold ones with friends. I met up with some friends from Rochester and this is one of their very favorite bars. I know if you sit outside you cannot help but have some bugs but it seemed to me there was a bit of a fly problem and in the middle of my meal I had to stop eating because one was deep into my food. That was it for me. It is not really the restaurants fault but I wonder if they cannot put out some more bug traps along the property ----next time if I want to take my time eating a meal i will eat inside and keep it to just drinks on the deck.

Stopped in with some friend's for a bite and I must say it was pretty tasty. The menu for me being a leaf eater is very very limited but Hey I figured this going in. So I decided to go with of course my favorite cheese curds (what else is New) and I don't regret it at all. They were nice, cheesy with just the right amount of crunch sadly I was not a fan of the blue cheese (yuck gross). The curds were amazing I definitely will back for more hopefully I'll be drunk nxt time. The drink menu did look very tasty and tempting to say the least ^_^
(4)Patty S.
Service friendly! We had a party 9 ! Kid friendly ! Enjoyed sitting out enjoying the evening on the amazing out door space
(4)Barbara A.
Just had the most delicious lunch at Muddy Water. The corned beef on the Reuben was tender and delicious. We had Cheese Curds that were awesome as well. Would definitely come back if my travels bring me back to Prescott, WI
(5)Alexander M.
My girlfriend and I recently drove here just for the chicken wings. We had stopped here on a weekend trip and they were stuck in our memory for like a year! We came back to find the wings exactly as awesome as we remembered. The other food was probably fine, I can't even really remember because the wings exploded my brain almost. The deck is surprisingly awesome, it overlooks the St. Croix and is gigantic! I highly recommend Muddy Waters!
(5)Becky F.
Great food! Came at a busy time and waited for a while for our food, but the food was all delicious and it was well worth the drive from St. Paul!
(5)Pamela S.
The food is decent, but a little on the expensive side for what it is. The service is spotty. We've had some good servers and some really bad (rude) ones. The outdoor seating is nice, but there really isn't much of a view if that's what you want. Prescott has several good outdoor dining establishments. I would recommend going somewhere else.
(2)Hallison C.
Good food but not enough for five stars. I like the food but I think it is a little too expensive. And it takes just a bit too long. Muddy waters is close to five they just need to tweak some small details.
(4)Rico R.
Really good place! Went here for mothers day and my family all enjoyed our meals and agreed the portions were large, which is a good thing! I got the Cajun Chicken Pasta and it was super tasty. The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is because the food took a while even though there weren't very many people and the prices could have been slightly cheaper. I will be back!
(4)Kyle B.
Good food, good view, definitely worth a visit on a Friday or Saturday afternoon if you're in the area. We were warned multiple times that this was a "biker bar" and told we better be OK with that if we went. I did see a guy in a harley shirt and there might have been a motorcycle parked out front, but it was DEFINITELY not a biker bar.
(3)Neil P.
A friend of mine in Hastings, MN took me to this place. I'm from "Deep Down in Florida" and had no idea what I was in for. He didn't mention where we were going or the name. Now I'm a blues fanatic - so when we arrived and I saw the name Muddy Waters - I said "This is my kind of place. I like it already". I had to get a snapshot inside next to the picture of Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters and Junior Wells. The food here was EXCELLENT. When in Wisconsin... well, we had to try the fried cheese curds. So good! Blues legends like BB King and Eric Clapton have their own salads named after them here... but I opted for the French Dip sandwich. Now, Muddy said he "Can't Be Satisfied"... but I bet he never tried the French Dip here! It was unlike any other French Dip I've ever had. Instead of your typical thinly-sliced roast beef... this had large, juicy chunks of pot roast-style beef on the sandwich. It was so flavorful and juicy - it didn't even NEED the au jus... but I indulged anyway. My wife had a blackened Cajun chicken sandwich - topped with tasty peppers and cheese. Also very good. And the blues music they played was the perfect touch... along with sitting outdoors right on the river on a nice summer day. We went on a weekday afternoon... but I thought this would be a great place to go drink some beers and listen to live blues music on a Sunday afternoon. I'd like to come back one day and do just that! Keep it up, Muddy Waters... you've definitely "Got your Mojo Workin"!

We had the worst service here. First we asked to be seated on the patio, then we were told "it might be a long wait". I asked how long was the wait and they said 20 min or so. Absolutely fine with waiting 20 min, so we sat at the bar and ordered some drinks. Very shortly we were told our table was ready, I waited at the bar to pay our tab and when I found my party they were sat at a table inside, not at the patio. We waited for 15 min before our server came over and told her we were waiting for a table on the patio and she said again, there is a long wait. We kept saying were fine waiting at the bar, there were 4 adults and two kids and there was plenty of room for us to wait at the bar. After the blank stares we just said we are fine staying here. Then when our waitress came to take our order, we ordered an appetizer and the kids meals then she just walked away, we all were ready to order but she just left. At this point we were just crabby. We talked to the manager who thought it was a good idea to go get stories from the waitstaff and come back and tell us that they thought we were in a hurry to eat (we told them we were fine with waiting from the begining) so they sat us inside and took ours kids order and thought they could put that in with the app first because that's what they normally do. She did not ask if we were all ready to order, which we were. Then after complaining they finally had a spot in the patio for us to sit. We moved and it was very nice spot and the kids loved looking over the river. Our food was ok, I had the scallops wrapped in bacon and topped with "hollandaise" sauce, but it was some sort if red mayo mixture, not hollandaise sauce. We received no apology, nothing off our bill or anything but excuses. We will never be back.

I have been to this restaurant so many times over the last 5 years. Their food, be it lunch fare or dinner fare, is consistently good. Some of my favorites are the BB King salad with shrimp and bacon, the KoKo Tayler Salad with a wonderful southwest seasoned moist chicken breast, corn, black beans and dorito chips, and the muffaletta sandwich. I love the atmosphere in the bar - darkish and comfortable. They have tiered decks in the back overlooking the river and on Sunday's during the summer there is usually a blues band. The menu out on the decks is a bit more casual (brats and burgers). The drinks are good and they are not weak-wristed with their pours. I do wish they served a little bread with a dinner entree - oh well. And for the fastidious, the place is squeaky clean.
(4)J B.
2 patios with 2 different menus was annoying. The menu that we wanted put us on a patio that was small, and you could barely see the river from where we were. We ordered the Brie En Croute appetizer and the spinach pesto flat bread appetizer. I liked the Brie one, but the brie itself was not very good. As for the flat bread, the crust was way too thick, and I didn't care for the flavor of it. The prices were a little high, but I guess you have to expect that in a place that thrives on tourism.
(3)Adam S.
Great food. I've never been let down with anything I've tried. I love their salads. Not a place to go if you're having a few drinks though as the drink prices are high.
(4)Dave A.
For a bar, pretty good food and probably the best burger in Prescott/Hastings area. Nice outside in summer. Again one of only 2 places on the rivers here with a decent outside atmosphere. Recommend this if you want to experience nice small town quality bar atmosphere.
(4)Rebekah K.
Stopped in for a quick lunch on a Sunday and immediately loved the ambiance. Staff is friendly and attentive. Deck in back overlooking river. Half of menu is sandwiches: from traditional club and rueben to an ahi tuna wrap with avocado. Muffaletta looked good as did the pulled pork, but went with the gyro wrap. I would have used red onions instead as the white were a little harsh in raw form, but tasty, filling, and fast. Would stop in again to try more items. Happened to be a week before Halloween so place was cleverly decked out in cobwebs with corny little decorations in unlikely places (like ghosts swinging from fan blades, or pumpkin lights around the bathroom mirror) but added to the charm. Also, great music piped over sound system (it is called Muddy Waters after all...). Give it a try!
(4)Regina S.
For Prescott dining, this would get four stars. But since I keep it real, this joint gets three. It's your standard bar and grill. I'm a vegetarian and like most restaurants I go to in Wisconsin I have a very hard time finding something to eat. The best part is they actually had avocado here! Such a rare delicacy in this part of the world. I got a salad. My favorite part of the menu is the "Lighter Side" options. I went there looking for something I could make vegetarian but, low and behold, "lighter" here means a burger. Yep. The "Lighter Side" is a quarter pounder with cheese. And fries. Hold the mayo.
(3)Meggie G.
Great ribs and au gratin potatoes. Nice wine selection and on the river. The area is a little isolated, but I found it has three apple orchards, a St. Croix bluff outlook and regional park as well as an eagle release center. There are trails in Hastings across the river.
(4)David S.
Service was good--not great, not exceptional... just good. We were seated without a long wait and our server was prompt and accommodating though less than enthusiastic; she, in fact, presented a persona bored beyond distraction. She smiled only once and that being while presenting the bill as though that singular pleasantry would bridge the gap between tip amounts. Speaking of tips, gratuity amounts were calculated at the bottom of the bill--15%, 18%, and 20%--a practice that would be welcome under better circumstances. The food was typical bar fare but terribly overpriced. I assume the added cost was to pay for the live blues band that awkwardly attempted grooves beyond the players' capabilities. Every number struggled to avert the band's collective inherent and seemingly uncontrollable urge to break into polka; the harmonica player performed like a graduate of a mail order class from The Myron Floren School for Intermediate Squeeze Box. The railway bridge located a couple hundred yards away at the same altitude as our seats on the deck reverberated non-stop locomotive racket obnoxiously rendering any effort at simple small talk virtually impossible. All said, I would not return... unless I found myself suffering from severe starvation and the nearest gas station proved to be out of light-bulb chuck-wagon sandwiches.
(2)Vince S.
When I am in the area, at least one dinner is at Muddy Waters. I like to sit in the bar, chat and gander at the big TV once in awhile. Ribs are awesome! In the summer, a meal out on their deck is a treat!
(5)Juana H.
I live in Minneapolis and since discovering this wonderful place, must return as often as possible! Gotta try the "bite me" beef app. Even when the music isn't live, it's great. If you seek great service and great food, check this place out!
(5)Pam T.
Best outside dining around with upper and lower deck facing the St Croix River. Excellent service from most of the help. Chef owned and she takes great pride in her menu and her fresh ingredients. We recommend it to guests from our inn and we do not do that lightly. They are always busy lunch and dinner with happy customers who do not know about Yelp. If they did, they would be yelping "hip hip horray" for good food, lots of smiles and beautiful St Croix River scenery.
