Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Cancun Fiesta was at one time the location for my weekly lunch date with a good friend. We were there on Wednesdays every week for about a year (2009-2010). During this time, the restaurant came under new management and a few changes took place. Firstly, they added oregano to the red sauce which really changed the dynamic of their burrito/enchilada dishes. (And, not in a good way.) The restaurant took down the grungy green wooden wall decor and is now brightly painted orange and yellow. Which instead of making the place look cleaner, just makes the restaurant seem cheap. What I do have to say that is positive is that they have fantastic lime margaritas on the rocks.

Our food was very good, the service was great. But the place is in dire need of repair and clean up. The handrail was broken at one end and flopping around. Trash all over the front of the building. The booth we sat in had a window by it, which was broken an taped (yes taped) together.

Very noisy place to eat at and the seating is very tight they pack you in there and the service can sometimes be spotty at best. The food is pretty good but you can just go down the street a little bit to the other place and get the same quality food and have space to sit and be able to hear the person you are having dinner with

I love this place! Best Mexican food I have EVER had. I always order the same thing, either the Cancun Cheesesteak or the Burrito Cho Cho. Their salsa and chips are very tasty, I can never get enough salsa. The margaritas are to die for. This is authentic Mexican food. Everyone from work goes here at least once a week. It's really the only restaurant in Platteville.

Huh? I'm surprised I'm the first reviewer but here goes. The service was decently fast and I got my salsa/chips and order taken right away. Surprisingly both my first(and second) beverage choices were not available so I ended up having a soda instead of an horchata or jarritos that was listed on the menu.("They were out"). The place itself was pretty typical of the genre except for the fact it had a "downstairs" section with a full-bar. Being a vegetarian, I had 7 options for dinner and I settled quickly on one that offered things I don't traditionally see -- spinach enchilada, potato burrito and a chile relleno. At tableside thankfully there was two types of hot sauce(thank you! i never understand mexican restaurants that don't cater to us firemouths.) The Spinach Enchilada was good but not the best I've ever had(I think I like my own better.) I honestly had never had a potato burrito before and I'm not going to fault them for my dislike of how starchy it felt to eat. It tasted like instant mashed potatos slabbed into a tortilla. Lastly, the chile relleno was not in my top choices( i think of places like la hacienda in madison) but it was ok. The prices were fair(and expected) for the genre and I didn't mind it. It was a nice treat in Platteville rather than stopping at Taco Bell or something else when I was in the mood for REAL mexican food. Oh-- and I should mention the chips were pretty good! Hopefully next time they have horchata or just remove it off the menu.

The food is OK. Nothing spectacular. I think most people go here more for the margaritas than anything else. The service is pretty bad. It takes a long time for anything to happen, and if you have a problem the manager will come to your table, but he sure won't try to help you. He'll berate you and tell you how wrong you are, but that's about it. Try it. I have at least twice. While I did say the food was OK, that's really only when it's actually fresh and cooked. I have been there on more than one occasion where someone in the group has gotten sick. I can't say with 100% certainty that it was from here, but it's sure a strong coincidence. Try Los Amigos on Main St instead.

Good, not great. Good service. Pleasant people. Food seems to be cooked to order. I wish it had more fresh-food options: salads, more vegetables, etc.

Cancun Fiesta is pretty good in my book. It seems as though Mexican Restaurants are hit or miss in these tiny towns. Had a margarita and boy was it good. These boys didn't spare any tequila. I had a quesadilla that was pretty good and my better half had the enchiladas. Both entrees were reasonably priced and the drinks were good. The service seemed to be lacking when we went, it was a Saturday. However it wasn't very busy. They were quick to bring the salsa out. The food came out shortly there after. The check took a bit too long. Overall a good place. If I'm ever back in Platteville I'm definitely heading back here.

Food was great. Meals served with chips and salsa as seems to be the norm at Mexican restaurants. I had chicken nachos, which were great and steak fajitas, sizzling hot and very good. Service is very attentive and a good over all experience.

Food was pretty good and the service was casual and attentive enough for my two lunch visits. I see the reviews are all over the map and I can see some of their points. The restaurant is a little worn out and I've heard their service can be inefficient at peak times. The quality of food and service combined with the inexpensive prices push it to the four stars for me.
