I am originally from Kansas City, where BBQ and fried chicken are king. As such, I admit that I have fairly high standards when it comes to this type of cuisine. That said, FM's simply does not measure up. The BBQ is average at best, and the sauce is almost watery from lack of consistency. If you must go here, I would recommend the Po Boy. It is a decent sandwich, the meat is just average. The fried chicken here is completely unremarkable. Both slightly dry and inadequate with bland breading. I really wish Oshkosh had an awesome BBQ place, but this certainly is not it.

Worst place in Oshkosh. Everything is boxed and ridiculously over-priced. I will never go here again. I never say that about anywhere!

I go to Fat Mama's whenever I have a hankerin for some BBQ. They have recently added some amenities such as wi-fi. When taking out prepare for a short to moderate wait. Not the best BBQ in the world but affordable, and the wait is worth it. The baked beans are lovely, and the service is friendly, they try hard to make sure you have enough to eat, as the portions are generous. Good pulled pork and the fried chicken and catfishis great! The ribs are ok, but the brisket can be a bit tough at times. the ribs were kinda dry at first, but have gotten better each time I visit. I didn't care for the bbq chicken, but that cold just me my taste. Needs some blues music going to get me in the mood. This tiny place could make it if they keep improving, as the food gas gotten better each time I visit!

I don't encounter many restaurants that I would say stay away! But this is one of them. Seriously. This is food poisoning waiting to happen. The sloppiness of the presentation and lack of smokiness in BBQ? C'mon? It's BBQ! Not bake-b-q! You are better off doing ribs yourself or going up to Appleton to Famous Daves. Don't waste your money here. I ordered the brisket with coleslaw and what I got was a horrid mess. Brisket was over cooked strands of pork drenched in sour BBQ sauce and the coleslaw was also sour. I mean the bad kind of sour, like poop an puke for a week sour. Sorry but this is not authentic BBQ and I wouldn't feed the sides to my dogs, if I had any. Overall rating: Avoid!

Let's make this clear first of all. I am a big believer in supporting local mom and pop places. So, while in Oshkosh I waned to go to the BBQ place I had been to many many moons ago because of the fond memories of how good the BBQ was. Only to find Fat Mama's in it's place. Still I was in the mood for BBQ so I thought I would give it a shot. That was my first mistake! I ordered a combo platter of Burnt Ends and pulled pork with sides of cole slaw and macaroni. They do not take any kind of card, so I was forced to use their ATM and get charged a $2 fee. Mistake #2! So, I pay with cash, then they could not even give me proper change, I had to wait while the guy ran across the street to somewhere to get money to pay me back my change. First, as I opened up the take out container I saw right away the quality of food, and what I saw was disgusting!!!! And yet, the worst was yet to come!!! As I was poking around, trying what I could that looked edible, taking a bite here and there, what did I find? A FREAKING SCREW!!! The people around me could not even believe their eyes!! One guy even took a picture, I forgot to get his info so he could send me the pic. Needless to say, I no longer could stomach even trying to eat any more of the crap of a meal that I paid $12 for. One thing for sure, I will never ever make the mistake again of eating there!

Not great, but not bad. We got ribs, rib tips, brisket, fried chicken, "barbecue" chicken, and pulled pork. The ribs were tough, as was the brisket. The tips were pretty good. I thought the pork was the best thing: tender, tasty. Fried chicken: I thought it was pretty good, others were less favorable. The weird thing was the "barbecue" chicken. We expected what I've always had at 'cue places: chicken, not fried, cooked with sauce. We got fried chicken drenched in sauce. Weird, but not bad. It's apparently the only barbecue place in town, replacing one that I've heard was worse. Maybe things will get better. Also, the only barbecue place I've seen that serves cheese curds, but then, it's written into the Wisconsin constitution that all restaurants have them...

No restaurant could be worse for takeout chicken and barbecue than this one. Our order of fried catfish, half slab of bbq ribs, fries, fried pickles was a mass of tasteless grease-laden food, so inedible that we threw it out after sampling it. This was absolutely awful. If you want disappointment, try this place.
