Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Don't let the Irish name fool you, this is a great local standby for Mexican food in Onalaska. We would go here when we went to UW-La Crosse, and the food was always good. Great, fresh chips and salsa! Good price for the food too! Is it "OMG this place is amazing!!!"? No, but it's a good, standard Americanized Mexican restaurant. We recommend it! :)

Staff is friendly, food is average to good, and the restaurant is clean and inviting.

I went here two times in one day. My first time and my last time. Chips and salsa are great. Servers are great. Food is not great. It's yucky!!!!! I ordered the loaded nachos. I expected to get just that but instead I got like 8 large chips with gross burnt on beans and ground beef on them.

The food is absolutely disgusting! The fries tasted like fish and barely had any potato in them. I got the Baja chicken wrap, which was pictures in the menu. The wrap looked nothing like the picture and tasted soggy and not work the money! Only reason for the two stars is the service and chips & salsa.

Hard again to review. Awesome server in the bar. I think his name was Jay or Jake...young guy. He was very attentive...best server I've had in awhile. I thought...'wow...things are better here!'. I was very happy. Food was also really good. But then, before I left, I visited the bathroom. Gross! Still not taking care of the building. Paint peeling on the counter (yes...the counter was painted). Stall walls gross. Not all stalls have a lock. Really disappointed. My tip...eat there, but don't look around too much...you may not like it.

Only thing good is the staff. Super friendly. Food sucks. Margaritas suck. But great server (Jake) and manager (Cody).

Staff at Carlos O'Kelley's was exceptionally service oriented, preparing a meal to my husband's precise instructions and coming out to be certain they had it right. My fajitas were sizzling hot and delicious. We will certainly return.

Not worth it...disappointed with the fish taco meal..I paid $11 for one fish taco, side of beans, and side of potatoes. Slow service and it wasn't even busy.

I'm pretty sure that having huge margaritas is what keeps this Carlos O'Kelly's in business. It is never quite clean and the food always seems like it's on the way out. I have yet to have a really "fresh" tasting meal. The food is overpriced for what you get, even compared to other Carlos O'Kelly restaurants.

My girlfriend and I stopped for margaritas and decided to order some food. Big mistake. The chips, salsa and drinks were okay but the entrees were really bad. Service was slow and there was only one other table of people. We will not visit this place again.

I'm not a mexican food specialist by any means, in fact, I prefer many other cultural foods than mexican. But with a limited selection in the Onalaska area we had to stop in here. Was not anything special by any means. In fact, I don't think I saw a single worker of mexican nationality. We had the spinach and mushroom enchiladas which were terrible. And we also had the pocadas I think they were called. Not good either. The free chips and salsa were good! With a mexican food place with a irish sounding name should have given it away.

First time at this chain. Overall, the food was ok, service was good, but I was disappointed by my choice, the Seafood Vera Cruz. An enchilada, the primary ingredient was those fake crab legs you get at the grocery store. Now, imagine 'em warm. Not so good. Don't know if I'd try them again.
