Great atmosphere, amazing white cheese curds, local beers on tap, friendly staff. Come for the curds, stay because it's fun.

Don't let the Chalet fool you. It's a dive bar without the strange smells, the grime, and the dusty bottles. I just love the laid back atmosphere that Kleeman's offers. If you want to get your drink on this is the place to go to. When I was there I met some honey's that were old enough to be my daughters, but drunk enough not to give a shit. Got's to love any place that offers that.

I'm not going to tell you not to go to Kleeman's... but there is no point. Toffler's is right around the corner, Sportsman's is as well, the Stube... The decor, lay out, locals and owner of Kleeman's are all uncomfortable and unwelcoming. We didn't realize how close they were to closing for the day when we ordered beers, which they gladly sold to us. A moment later, we've got the owner, who is clearly intoxicated, yelling at us from across the bar to hurry up and leave because they are closing. He came around the bar and got in our faces, accusing us of sipping our beers. They were still open for 4 more minutes at this point. We argued that they shouldn't have sold us anything then, or at least warned us before they did. He proceeded to start pulling cash out of the register to "buy back" our beers. You. Have. Got. To. Be. Kidding. Me. At this point, all the drunken locals are yelling at us to go the F back to Illinois, so we just leave. They all follow us out and continue yelling at us. So, we go to the car, and up stumbles the owner, I think his name was John, about 5 minutes later. He spends the next 15-20 minutes acting like he's apologizing, when he is really just making all kinds of lame excuses. I just wanted him to go away. Please stop. Please just let us leave. He finally let us leave when we agreed to come in for free bloody marys the next day. Nice gesture, I suppose... but thanks, no thanks. If you need a bloody - go to Puempel's Olde Tavern for their build your own bloody bar, with every garnish you could ever need!

Just another dive bar with no style or character. This was on the weekend eat and drink our way across Wisconsin to the finish. It's cheesy red and white theme with the biggest inner bar space that could hold six bartenders. All seats were taken and our group of five got the last five when we walked in. The people were having bar food that smelled pretty good I must say. Five drinks from beers to mixers and straights were under $20.00, $18.00 to be exact for the first round which is amazing. Yeah I would hang here if cheap and divy were what we wanted but we like to mix it up with nice and divy for the full experience. I can see its appeal. Four beers on the draft station and the center focal point large cooler full of what ever behind the bar.

Kleeman's is a neighborhood bar that serves a limited menu but has at least FOUR New Glarus brews on tap. In my world, that gets you 3 stars right off the bat. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and my wife ordered the grilled chicken club. Both were delicious and a good sized sandwich. (It helps that they were a relatively healthy choice too.) The bar is spotless! In chatting with the bartender, it was totally redone and reopened in Fall 2011. When I return to New Glarus, Kleeman's is definitely a place that I would return to quench my thirst.

Another stop on our impromptu bar crawl around town after visiting the brewery... It's obvious the place is new, but the setup is kinda awkward and I'm not sure what kind of theme they're going for. It was a typical slow afternoon and the bartender was nice enough, but seemed like he couldn't wait to serve us so he could get back to rolling dice with his buddies. I saw a kitchen, but there wasn't anyone working it, so hard to say if it's open yet. The pool table was a nice way to kill some time, but after one drink we felt kinda awkward and left. It seems like the place would be ideal to watch sports, but I think we'll stick to other bars in town.

This place cracked me up and I had a ton of fun. First of all, it's a dive bar, so don't get upset if no one is giving you hugs and open arms as you come in. But who cares? We just came here for a beer in between our beer drinking. It was only $3.50 for a New Glarus beer. Seriously?! Coming from Chicago where anything besides domestic is $8 a glass, we were in heaven. They also had a pool table so we played a few games. All the locals were looking at us like we were crazy because we were laughing and having a great time, and we were probably killing their melencholy mood, but with the right people, a pool table, and inexpensive beer, any place can be fun and Kleeman's definitely provided us with that.
