The Hunters Nest is located pretty much at the end of Schultz Lane in Muskego. The gravel parking lot is enormous but it's shared with the trap shooting club and there is also a boat launch. For $5 you can launch right into the channel that leads to Big Muskego lake, and leave your vehicle and trailers parked in the lot. The bar/restaurant itself is quite large inside and probably hopping on Friday for fish fry. We went on a Thursday and it was busier than I had anticipated with a steady stream of regulars passing through. The dining area is a distinct space that is separate from the bar. We ordered food and chose to sit at the bar, and as a bonus there was a nice view of the channel and outdoor seating area. I got the feeling that this place is cash only. I didn't see anyone paying with a card nor did I see a machine behind the bar. In fact, the register itself looked to be from 1940. I saw an ATM near the entrance so that's convenient. The same goes for the dining area. I noticed that everyone who paid for meals used cash instead of credit. For the food itself, there was a good selection of appetizers and sandwiches. Pizza is also available as well as some other main dishes. The prices were very fair for what is offered. We went with a 14" Franco special pizza and were not disappointed. It was well cooked and tasted great, for less than $15. Most of the sandwiches were between $7 and $9. I enjoyed this place, but it is dated and the bartender was kind of inattentive toward us. I felt that she catered more towards the regulars which made me feel like a burden on her. I would rate this place one star higher if she had paid as much attention to us as our waitress did- especially since we were seated at the bar.
