If you want a beautiful setting and great food this is the spot. Celebrated our anniversary there and the food was amazing and staff is very attentive and friendly. The windows show beautiful water scenes. The bar is remodeled in recent years and is upscale modern beautiful. Great place to meet friends or have an intimate celebration. You won't be disappointed.

This place is a gem! They have great food and a beatuiful resturaunt. I want to live closer so I can go here more often. The owner's really have something special here. The vegetable platters with the dip is something you don't get everywhere. I also love that there is a coat check. Magnificent food, service and atmosphere. You have it all right here. Can't say enough good things about this experience.

I visited Pinewood Supper Club one week ago and was pleasantly surprised! The dining room had an awesome view out of multiple windows, not just one window. The service was excellent and the food very good. I had wanted to visit a restaurant with the feel of yesteryear and that is what I found here. The look, the feel and the service was what you might have found years ago in Wisconsin. The food was not just the basics found years ago, it was updated which was awesome.

Lovely evening, great service. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very nice and comfortable. They made us feel at home. The view was fantastic!

If you plan on dining at Pinewood, come prepared with a reservation. The place is packed! When I arrived I was surprised the parking lot was completely full at a restaurant in the middle of no where. While waiting for a table, we had drinks. The bar staff was excellent. The interior of Pinewood is charming. It can best be described as a mix of lodge and country. After placing our order, the server brought a complementary crudite plate. It was marvelous. I had the strip steak along with a Caesar salad. The person I was dining with ordered the scallops. The salad was excellent. The strip steak was cooked perfectly. Although I wouldn't say it was the absolute best steak in the Wausau area, it was right up there. The scallops were hugh (3 of them) and came wrapped with bacon. They were delicious. Pinewood could be considered in the top 4 or 5 establishments in the Wausau area. You won't be disappointed. Don't forget the reservation!

Lured by the glowing reviews hubs and I set out to treat ourselves today. The dining room is very nicely appointed but I will say that for a place that is trying to be upscale it should have chairs that are comfortable enough to enjoy a leisurely long meal. The padding was cutting into the backs of my legs and I mentioned to the waitress we would skip an appetizer as the chair was very uncomfortable for me so let's just place our orders and get on with it. About 2 minutes later a bus girl brought me a different chair that was soooo much more comfy. We enjoyed the view of the lake while we nibbled on a small plate of fresh veggies with a dip and some nice warm crusty rolls with butter. Then we got our soup which was Bavarian Dumpling and it was delicious, loaded with meat, carrot, celery, sauerkraut and dumplings topped with fresh chopped parsley. I must find the recipe! The prime rib was leftover from yesterday and hubs baby backs were just ok. The sauce was all tomato and no seasoning, leaving him longing for Sweet Baby Rays. They play jazz music here. Some of the songs got on my nerves a bit as it is louder than I like. All in all is was an ok experience but the main courses were not up to our expectations. I don't like paying $18.99 for leftover prime rib.

We drive an hour round trip to eat here at least once every other month. The waitstaff, food and ambiance are superb. The lake views are breathtaking. If you're on a budget go for the Friday night fish, we usually get baked fish not fried, but here we get the Italian breaded fish, it is big and tasty. The email rewards program really makes you feel like you belong to a supper club - club. So I suggest signing up. Make reservations for Friday and Saturday nights because this place in the North woods is VERY popular and for good reasons. If you like french soup this place bakes a pastry on top of the bowl of soup so the bowl of soup looks like a muffin/ hot pocket of sorts and it is light and crispy, usually I avoid gluten but this is worth the exception for me. The beautiful drive here is part of the experience too.

Hands down the best fish fry in Central Wisconsin! The breading is light and buttery and if you like that, you should get the hand-dipped onion rings, too! Pinewood has the updated decor that many local restaurants lack. Very classy! Plus, it's always nice to be on the lake. Ribs are also a hit!

Didn't want to serve us because we were minority and the Server assumed we wouldn't tip... (Asian / White / Mexican Family) my little sister wasn't served the food she requested as she was pregnant and on the menu they had mini hot dogs But the lady said not allowed for her but we had my 3 year old order it and the server said he wasn't allowed to share it WTF???? Racist place absolutely unhappy

Pricey, but worth it. The black and bleu steak was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Friday fish fry is one of the less expensive ways to enjoy the Pinewood.

After a long hiatus my wife & I joined 6 friends there for dinner: excellent! The ambiance in the evening is great: dark , rich wood and semi-dim golden lighting. Not too noisy even though it was very busy when we were there. My wife said that the wine is good; I had Clausthaler, a NA beer which is very good. My wife had clam chowder. I tasted it and it was excellent. I had the Garden Salad which was excellent. (Many supper clubs in this area serve an iceberg lettuce salad - bland!) I had a special: Salmon stuffed with crab. It was divine. My wife had walleye; it was very good. I'll find my receipt and add prices later. Check out their web site at: thepinewood.com

Nicer restaurant with excellent food and beautiful lake views. Cost to worth it ratio: 4 stars (Coming from California, at home these quality dishes could be priced much higher. It's amazing that a nice meal for 12 here is the same price as a nice SF meal for only 2-4 people!) Pics: yelp.com/biz_photos/hhl6… Highlights - Ambiance: low lighting with large windows providing most of the light before sunset. You can see views of all of the trees and lakes out of each wall in the main dining room. - Ribs: packed with bbq flavor and so tender they slide off the bone when gently nudged by a fork. - Prime rib: one of the best I've had! The hub's the prime rib lover of the family, but I got excited about this one. Great flavor, juicy, cooked spot on. Mouthwatering. As in, my mouth is watering now just thinking about it. ;-) - Potato: I forget what it was called but it looked like a small football with a crust. :-) Yes, I'm SO looking forward to the NFL season starting. Ok, back to the potato... inside was a concoction of cheesy mashed potatoes. - Escargot: just that they have it makes me think it's a classier place, as I wouldn't expect to see these much around these parts. Reminds me of a cruise ship, though. Liked the big pieces of grilled bread to dip in the garlic butter remnants. - Soup or salad included: nice to see some things included since a lot of places do a la carte these days. - French onion soup: if you order it as a starter and not as an option with your meal, you get a big bowl with a huge puffy pastry top. - Wine list: glass list is just ok but surprisingly decent bottle list--especially the reserves with some very good California wineries showing up there. I ordered a glass of zin and got white zinfandel :-O Not a problem but kind of funny. Note to self: red zin isn't big in this beer state. - Service: they managed our large family party well and let me make my own combination which I appreciated. - Lighter side menu: nice that they have the option and there is one salad, but kind of comical since rib eye steak sandwich and seafood quesadilla are on there too :-O Lowlights (my flip side to highlights): - Scallops: bit small and rubbery; not super fresh tasting. Appreciate them being sauteed and not fried, however. - Martinis: liked that they offered them but they were a bit too sweet and kind of off in taste. Our special occasion Wausau-ish spot--I'm sure we'll be back. After writing this I want more of those ribs and prime rib.

After hearing about the Pinewood since I was in my teens, we finally made reservations for our 29th anniversary last night. We were seated as soon as we arrived and our drink order taken and brought out. We ordered the seafood quesadilla for an appetizer. Our waitress, Amber let us know that it would take a little longer to get our appetizer. It didn't and it was very good. Real crab, scallops and shrimp on a flaky crust. My wife had the seafood platter, broiled which included shrimp, walleye, scallops, a lobster tail with almond like crust and a crab puff. She loved it all. Very good quality and cooked just right. I had the black and blue coullet steak which came with garlic smashed potatoes, sauted green bean/carrots and the New England clam chowders . The steak was very flavorful, veggies were not over cooked and the potatoes were potatoes. The chowder was better than most, and Sue's salad was huge and was not just lettuce and some carrot shavings. The service was great, prices were fair and we really enjoyed the food and we had a table by the window looking over the river. We will be back

Had an excellent dinner at the Pinewood supper club tonight however their prices have become astronomical. 2 couples, each had two drinks. The drink Bill alone was $82, guess we will not be going back to the pinewood

Oh my gosh! What a wonderful surprise! Went on recommendation of hotel clerk. On a Friday evening we had to wait about 30 min. Had an appetizer and drink while waiting.... Crab delight!! Very knowledgeable bar staff. Great dinner! Crudités, French onion soup, steak, fish, chocolate dessert. Wonderful friendly waitress. We would go back here in a heartbeat!

Great food and atmosphere. The chicken with goat cheese and sun dried tomato was fantastic.

Went there 2 times after my first initial rating. I would have to say this place has gone down hill. Here's what I have to say: I ordered: Potato skins appetizer - Horrible, has more of an over burned charcoal taste, Its not like a potato skin you would order from Texas Road house or TGI Friday, its basically an actual potato skin shavings. They fry it up, put cheese over it and put it in the oven again to let the cheese melt. Its like eating burnt potato chips. Steak and Lobster entree - Steak had a sour taste to it, kinda like when steak almost gets spoiled it has that sour borderline taste. It was dry. Lobster was overcooked, so the meat was real soft and mushy. Kids Fish meal - fish was warm on the outside but cold in the inside. Kids Mac & Cheese - Good Beef noodle soup - Salty and the noodles were overcooked, tasted like it was from the day before that they just warmed up over and over. Their excuse was, it was cooked by a different chef. You would think they would taste it prior to serving it. Steak Garisson entree - dry steak, sour borderline taste. Veggies - wasnt fresh, it wasnt crunchy, taste like they has it in the fridge the day before. Also the place is too dark, to dim. Can barely see what I'm eating or how detail my food looks like. Service was good, but food is poor. Over prices for how the food taste! I don't think I'll be going there ever again nor recommend it.

We took my father out for his birthday. Excellent food quality and (Kelly) or waitstaff were fabulous. Enjoyed the view of the water and love their Eco friendly philosophy. Highly recommend.

Took my regional manager here for a great dining experience that he couldn't get in Chicago. (also picked it because they had some items we sold on the beverage list). We called ahead and arranged a great table with a view of the lake. The staff was great, the food was great. Overall no complaints for this traditional old school vacation type restaurant.

We had a great experience at the Pinewood. We started with an old fashioned, which was tasty and the bar area is inviting. The restaurant setting is beautiful on the lake, and many of the tables in the restaurant have a view of the lake. Unlike some supper clubs where food isn't the focus, the Pinewood has a great menu and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Some of the dishes are modern, but the relish tray is a great tradition, with their delicious vegetable dip on the side. For my entree I had a modern dish of chicken with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes which I enjoyed a lot. The portion sizes were healthy but there was room for dessert. Our sever was very friendly and made sure we had a memorable experience at this classic supper club.
