Well I haven't brunched here so maybe I have no business writing a review, but I was in for an evening drink and some food with some friends. I was underwhelmed with my food and the service. For the price and expectation one has, I did not feel they delivered. I will say that the atmosphere was quite nice.

I've been here twice for brunch and I don't get the rave. The location and decor is fun but everything I've ordered here has been pretty unimpressive. Food Experiences: Hummus was awful. French toast was average, but huge portions Banana Pecan Pancakes - same as the french toast. Average but huge portions. Virgin Bloody Mary was nothing great Smoked Salmon Benedict my husband was not a fan I'd come here for the atmosphere more than the food.

Awesome Late Night menu and Monday night is the best deal in town. We especially loved the wings, white pizza, and tater tots. And the kitchen was open until midnight! Our waitress and bartender were great too. So with half off apps, it really was the best thing happening in MKE on Monday night!

Went here recently for the first time in several years. Glad to see it's still around, although it's not as good as I remember. Definitely still serves solid food, but the quality is not as good as they think it is.

This place strikes me as an attractive lovechild of ladies-who-lunch poshness and apps-and-drinks trendiness. When I was here I spotted a group of kids who looked like Gossip Girl or OC extras, and they fit right in. The ambiance and food are nice, though the food options, at least for lunch, are nothing especially interesting.

Adventuring around milwaukee i decided to stop here about a week ago before work. The interior decorating was elegant and full of different patterns. I had the chicken sandwhich which i loved with the caesar salad which was a bit dissapointing. The three star is simply because the service was upsetting. The place was not busy and the waitress barely came to our table at all to see if we needed anything. I understand some people have bad days so i will not let that ruin my overall experience and i will be returning for that sandwhich

In general, delicious food and great service, cozy patio and equally nice view of the lake and parks from the bar. Chris is the most awesome bartender in the city: charming, spot on with the drinks. Delicious $5 happy hour entrees, the best in Milwaukee.

As a hot, humid, weary traveler, the Knick embraced me with open arms and the choice of outdoor or the blissful air-conditioning. I took the latter. Incredibly attentive and accommodating wait staff. Very cool vibe too. Fish tacos and waffle fries. Yes please. As suggested by my waitress I happily devoured those fries. The taco was fresh, tasty....however only one scraggly looking piece of fish per taco. Not awesome but repeatable. Next time a salad or a burger for sure!

This restaurant is one of my Milwaukee favorites. I keep coming back to this spot. Great food, atmosphere, drinks and people. I would like to tell you my favorite things to eat here but I don't think I have enough space. You can go here order anything on the menu and I promise you'll love it. I enjoy the prompt service and late night kitchen hours. The bartenders Chris and Eric will whip you up some unique/delicious cocktails. They are constantly coming up with new drinks to try. If wine is your thing then this is the place for you. Half price bottles of wine on Thursdays. I really am running out of space so I will leave you with a couple words+Brunch+Eggs Benedict+Bacon+Bloody Mary=Happy Stomach. Try it for yourself

I am extremely picky about hollandaise sauce and I thought the eggs benedict at The Knick were fantastic. It wasn't just the benedict, all of the food and drinks at brunch were very good. The restaurant decor isn't quite my taste but it the overall building has an old charm and is a classy place. There is a lot of seating available inside and also a few tables on the patio. My only complaint was that our service was a bit slow, it wasn't unbearable but it could have been better. This place is worth checking out for brunch, I was happy with our experience.

One of my favorite brunch spots. The Queen Marry serviced on Sundays is a must. Great flavor to the mix and awesome toppings. Crab hash and crab Benedict are fantastic. If you're craving something sweet try the French toast. The lunch and dinner menus are great too. I like the salmon salad.

I love the Knick for lunch in the middle of a business day with my co-workers. The exterior and interior are of very classy decor. The interior is fun but sophisticated. Wait staff is GREAT - very professional and conscious of important details. Great view out the windows, awesome music, and beautiful bar area. I've had the salad with blackened shrimp and avocado twice, and absolutely LOVE it. Maybe a tad pricey but very much worth it!

Bar tenders and staff are awesome. The food is great. Could use some hash browns for breakfast instead of the potatoes. Wings are best in town. Fish tocos are good too. Summer outside deck has a France cafe feel to it.

It is a nice restaurant... good environment and good food (with the exception of the humus, which sadly was not very impressive at all, quite gross actually). Outside at night they have heat lamps which is definitely a huge plus for me since it can get rather chilly at night by the lake front area. Their drinks are all good as well, except i must say i was a bit disappointed with their bloody marys... they seem a bit watery and taste too citrusy and come in weird cups that look like empty jelly jars. I don't know why that bothers me so much but they are just unattractive. Other than the hummus and bloody marys everything else on their menu has been great though.

one of my favorites, a classic in MKE. great for a chill dinner with friends, grabbing a drink or even for a business dinner. being part of the Knickerbocker, it has a great ambience that blends contemporary with classic and the place has character. i'd recommend: though i'm not a fan of sweets, but the september 7th cake is amazing chinese chicken salad bowl olive crusted chicken entree oh.... and sunday brunch is definitely worth it. crabcake benedict

First time staying in Milwaukee and decided to have a dinner date with my girlfriend. We loved it. A must try. The Cajun Tilapia was fantastic with a slow kick. September 7th dessert was amazing.

I'm glad they have this little restaurant inside the Knickerbocker Hotel. It fed me when I was waiting around to get my hair done. Food was average. Service was average. Decoration was attractive.

Our crab dip app and beet salad and pork ribs were great. But our waitress on the patio at 9PM on Friday, July 18 was even better!

I've enjoyed brunch at The Knick for a number of years and recently visited for lunch during Downtown Dining Week. We hadn't thought to make a reservation, so we put our name on the list and waited, before instead opting to eat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and welcoming. When one person in our party disclosed a nut allergy that conflicted with the Downtown Dining menu dessert options, she went above and beyond our expectations by verifying ingredients with other staff members and instead offering a completely different dessert just to be safe from allergen cross-contamination. A couple of people tried the hummus plate, which was received well. For entrees, we had pulled pork sandwiches and the chicken pita. The pork was great, and the pita was so stuffed full of goodness, it could've just been a massive salad. Great food, great value, great service.

This place is awesome! I had a Bloody Mary that had a pickle with some olives. A little spicy but not too overpowering--came with a beer chaser of spotted cow. For breakfast I had scrambled eggs w breakfast potatoes and toast. Everything was really good and the portion sizes are big! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is wanting a delicious breakfast. The staff was really nice as well!

The salmon has always been cooked absolutely perfectly for me. The atmosphere is different and upbeat, considering everything (including the Dale Chihuly-style decorations). One of Milwaukee's best, I'm sure.

Mediocre food at best. Service was ok - but not enthusiastic or overly friendly. Buffalo wings were charred and dry, chicken was not at all moist or tasty. Sauce was spicy but not particularly good - couldn't finish them. Vegetables were at least 3 days old and limp - totally inedible and disgusting. Fish tacos fell apart the moment you picked them up as the tortillas were soggy and sopping. A very unappetizing dish. All in all a far cry from the 4 star rating we saw on yelp. Would absolutely not recommend nor ever visit this place again.

I was SHOCKED with how much I enjoyed this restaurant. We checked it out on Tuesday for Downtown Dining, and made a reservation for 6:30 (unnecessary as there were TONS of open tables available). The interior is cool, if not a little... confused. There are neat glass "chandeliers" for lack of a better term, and the dark wood flooring is nice. Downtown dining offered either wings or hummus for an app, four entree options and either chocolate or carrot cake for dessert. I did wings/artichoke ravioli/carrot cake and joe did hummus/cajun tilapia/carrot cake. I seriously think places like this get skipped over when we judge and look for awesome wings. These were WAY up there with Girabaldi and JBRP for me. Seriously. The fry/sauce/grill combo is top notch - and the buffalo sauce was a perfect blend of flavorful and spicy. Joe's hummus was good, they do make it in-house, but it needed more garlic... it was pretty flat. It also only came with 4 pieces of pita which wasn't enough for the generous serving of hum. The artichoke ravioli was served with cherry tomatoes and spinach in a garlic olive oil "sauce". Joe's crusted fish was served with rice and a lima bean succotash. His limas were cooked perfectly with a little bit of firmness still there and mixed nicely with corn. The rice was rice - and the fish was fully and totally covered in cajun seasoning. He seemed to really enjoy it. My ravioli was good as well - I was hoping it would have been homemade, but unfortunately it was not. The filling was a puree instead of nice artichoke chunks, and it did not taste like much. Luckily the pre-made pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the edges were a little chewy - yum! There was a ton of spinach and tomatoes, but the oil was pretty heavy. When I asked the server if it was made in house she said, "Well... it's cooked in house". haha. While I still had two raviolis left on my plate, she dropped off our desserts. I found this extremely off-putting, especially because the place was dead and clearly we weren't holding anybody up... maybe she'd just been cut? Joe respectfully waited for me to finish my dinner before we started in on eating our dessert... while staring at an empty plate of oil left from my dinner. This carrot cake people... oh mah gah. It was moist and delicious with a healthy thick cream cheese frosting topping - seriously to die for. Cocktails were spendy - about $10 a pop, so with a couple drinks and our meals it was about $80 with tip, still way cheaper than it'd have been otherwise to get the same menu items. It was good, and I'd come back for brunch.

Ok I didn't have high hopes for this place but it was definitely a solid 3.5 rounded up to a 4. The menu selection is made up of casual fare with appetizers, salads and sandwiches followed by fancier mains including seafood, meats and pastas. The salads looked amazing and gigantic. I've now had the tuna main and the scallops main, both really good and well cooked. Felt really healthy after my run. Portion sizes are not giant so you may feel ripped off from the price but I thought the quality was worth it. Husband had the flatiron steak and it was a large piece of meat alright, well cooked to medium. We had crab cakes to start and they were just ok... prob wouldn't recommend those. Service was great and the terrace is nice weather permitting.

Closing out my year end Yelp reviews and thought I should mention The Knick. Don't let my three stars fool you. Three is A-OK. And this is A-OK. I come here a lot to kick back, relax and share a cocktail or two with the husband. Let's talk drinks. This is my reason for strolling over most of the time. Now, if you look at my pictures from here you will see a wall of Vodka. Every Vodka you can think of except ....peppercorn. Why does this matter to me. I like a bloody with a little peppery kick. Thus my three stars. The Knick often has a Bloody of the day, but it is tame. The bartender was sweet and ground in some peppercorn for me, but this isn't the same. The ice cream drinks are not what you are thinking. These are mammoth scoops of ice cream with liquor on top. See my picture for reference. They are good but not Bryants good. The food. Surprisingly good. Most is too salty for me but absolutely edible. Actually one of the best restaurants in a hotel for overall good quality and consistency. Last item I had was breakfast pasta! I was worried you would be too heavy but you were just heavenly! The scallops are also pretty good. Overall a solid go to place for the husband and I usually on a Sunday when most other establishments are closed. You will have solid service, good food and drinks. Will you be wowed, no. But sometimes you just want to eat and know you will receive a decent meal.

I was impressed with this place. As an out-of-towner, I just researched places on Yelp to visit in Milwaukee. Reviews looked great and I made late night reservations online with Opentable (points!). We really wanted to sit in a fancy round booth in the bar area off to the right of the hostess stand, but they were full or dirty. Instead, we got a quaint corner spot in the restaurant, where we could not bothering other guests with our noise level. It was pretty loud in this restaurant. The décor was fun, inviting and trendy. We were looking to eat just some appetizers rather than dinner, so we had plenty of options. I believe we had a crab dip and fish tacos. There were a lot of crackers for the amount of dip you get, or should I say, we could have used more of this rich dip for all the crackers! The food was tasty, but the drinks were the best! I had a Rosemary Margarita, which sounds just sounds great. My friend also had a Pear Flower with vodka and grapefruit juice. I highly recommend having a fancy drink here with dinner!

So this was our very first visit to Milwaukee and we headed to The Knick after visiting the Art Museum down the street. We couldn't wait to order some Wisconsin cheese and guess what? They were out. How can you be out of cheese here??? So disappointing. We ordered the scallop appetizer instead, but two measly scallops for $13?? I think not. However, the strawberry salad was fresh, bright, and crisply delicious. Unfortunately, the burger was a bit bland. I gotta say, the highlight was the chocolate flourless tart. Very nicely done. Service is quite attentive, but it wasn't that busy when we visited. Seriously... no cheese in Wisconsin... I shake my head.

Came here with a big group of family after a funeral mid-week. We were drained and in need of sustenance and drinks with which to cheers our departed family member. We were disorganized, loud, showed up at different times, had multiple credit cards for the bill and generally were a nightmare of a table. Everyone was talking while the food was delivered, so no one paid attention to who's food was who's. If it weren't such a wreck of a night, I'd have been so darn embarrassed. And The Knick handled it like a champ. They were calm, cool and collected. They knew why we were there and didn't get frustrated with us. Hubs and I were two of the later ones and so we apologized to the waitress and told her not to worry about our food being later than others, not to rush or anything - that it was our own fault - and basically said as long as we got fed, we were good. I wish I'd have gotten her name. She just took everything in stride. She helped our two 90+ grannies get in and out. She didn't care when we lingered. She was helpful and unobtrusive and just really made it the best experience it could be in the situation. She was tipped obscenely for her efforts and hopefully that made up for the wreck we made of her Tuesday night, but I hope she knows that after the day we all day, it was such a small but meaningful thing to be taken care of and not have our night be a hassle in any way shape or form.

This could be a regular go to spot ! The decor is tastefully colorful and modern . The lights are dimmed down setting a terrific ambiance from the start . The staff was all super friendly. It was the best service I can remember having in a long time . I started with a chestnut old fashioned . You can tell they take time to make it and I could taste the real sugar ! I shared two appetizer with my friend . We got the calamari and the wings . If your a fan of ginger , I suggest the calamari . It's served with a sweet and sour chili sauce which is surprisingly good ( it was my first time served with that and I am a instant fan ). Their wings are AMAZING! They grill them , which is a nice alternative to the ever so often deep fried version . Even though grilled they are still juicy on the inside . I like their menu because they offer simple foods with moderate prices and more fancy entrees that are a little bit more expensive . I feel this allows for your dining experience to be what you want , more casual or fancy .

Enjoy the Knick. Foor is good - especially the salads. Find the staff kind of cold but nice atmosphere. Parking is a problem but if you go there at off times not too bad.

One thing The Knick has going for it is the OpenTable reservation system and integration with Yelp! I made a reservation for the three of us at The Knick on Sunday morning at 10:30am. We were greeted and seated at a table near the window. When you first walk in, the decor is cute and boutique-y. We ordered "Alterra" coffee (according to the menu) with cream ($3 per cup) and our server was very friendly. Our third party came in at 11 and we ordered an original benedict ($10), Smoked salmon omelet ($14), and a breakfast special, which I can't remember. Chorizo something or other for around ($12) If you ask, they will sub their eggs for egg whites -- yay! Everything was tasty. The three meals came with breakfast potatoes and mine came with toast. I have to agree with another reviewer, the toast was pretty good, especially because I don't really like toast (texture thing). The coffee was hot and it kept coming, which we like. Our cups were never empty and I even had to turn her away once! There are two small complaints. Easy on the cream cheese (it was a little much) and substituting a cup of fruit is a $2.50 up charge! That seems like kind of a lot for some fruit. Other than that, we'd eat here again and we would bring our friends here for sure. I do recommend reservations because after 11am it appeared that there was a wait for a table. Right before 12pm the hostess came and gave us the boot so that we would move from the table. I noticed how the server stood at the hostess stand and let her do the dirty work - maybe she was afraid her tip would be affected if she did it. I have no idea. I wouldn't do that to the server, but I also don't like to be rushed. What if we want to catch up with friends over brunch? P.S. We had no problem finding parking, but I'm sure it can be a challenge. They have valet parking for only $3, plus tip for the valet drivers!!

Great happy hour food and drink specials from 3-6 I went with the buttermilk fried chicken sliders. Served with siracha aioliand a pickle they are absolutely addicting. Wash it down with a $4 beer (they had a great lineup when I was there-Deschutes, Lakefront, Lagunitas and MKE Brewing) and you are stuffed, a little buzzed, and not very poor.

I didn't actually eat here but I did try to make a reservation for a group and was really disappointed. One of the members of the party is kosher and when I asked if they could bring their kosher prepared meal, the hostess went to ask the chef. The chef said no, but he could prepare the food. Then she asked what it would entail. I've never had a restaurant refuse to accept a kosher meal and even worse, a chef who doesn't even understand what it would entail.

The Knick's Happy Hour which is from 3-6 Mon-Fri is to die for. The tater tots are the most delicious, as well as their fried chicken sliders and micro burgers. I usually split 3 items off their menu and end up full. The beef satay is also good, the dipping sauces are quite excellent. High quality food at an excellent price- this place can't be beat! Also has a great outdoor patio on the south side which has an ok view of the lake.

We've been to The Knick for brunch and again on New Year's Eve. The food is delicious (their corned beef hash is perfection on a hazy Sunday morning) and I love the atmosphere of the place. I especially love being able to make a reservation in the midst of Saturday night partying when I know I will need recovery food in the morning! Only reason I knocked a star off is both times I went they were out of the first drink I ordered....a bottle of rose on New Year's Eve and the key flavored vodka for a specialty mimosa at brunch. Both times they ended up being able to make good substitutions but it seems like they should be able to keep their liquor stocked for specialty drinks. That said, this is definitely on our list of favorite brunch spots, especially since it's so close to the lake....perfect for a stroll afterwards to walk off that hash!

The brunch was excellent in food quality, but something was very up with our server. Perhaps it was his first day or something. The breakfast pasta was great as was my wife's crab cake Benedict. I also had a mango smoothie that was very good. I hope to talk my wife into giving them a second try at some point.

Food was pretty good. The $24 coconut shrimp dinner had a much better description than reality. There was so much Dijon mustard that I couldn't enjoy the greens. Biggest disappointed was that I was there on a Monday night and they advertised half price appetizers. I didn't study the bill until I got home and sure enough I was charged full price. To make matters worse, I was there with my family to celebrate my daughter's birthday. No free dessert for her. Just an over charge on my bill. Overall disappointed. Have enjoyed past visits but this visit has turned me off.

This place was a bit of a disappointment, I'm afraid. The food was just ok, but maybe we're just spoiled living in Chicago. But the worst part is how they confused the drinks on my husband and I. He doesn't drink alcohol, and I do. Yet they gave him the one with alcohol and me the virgin drink, which we found astonishing. Nobody bothered to apologise to us about that, so he finally went and complained to the manager about how they tried to cover up for this. Furthermore, as I'm epileptic, I ordered an iced Americano with only 1 and a half shots. I was very clear about this, even telling her that I'm epileptic and have to be careful on the caffeine. She returned with a drink that seemed watered down to me, so she offered to put more espresso in it. When she returned, she said that this one had 3 shots and that the other one had 2. What happened to 1 and a half? It was all very strange. And careless, really. Before any of this occurred, I wanted to get the server's attention to ask about switching tables, and before I could even say anything, she curtly and rather condescendingly said, "Your drinks are on their way." It felt as if she was implying that I was going to immediately whine about where my drinks were, and I wasn't. It was in poor taste for her to behave this way. She only really got friendly and sweet when it came time for the cheque to be paid. Typical. We won't return. Pity, as they're not really representing or staying on par with Knickerbocker on the Lake, which we love.

Food: 4 Stars My partner and I have definitely made this our go-to spot for Sunday brunch. I've had the steak and eggs multiple times and it's always delicious although, if you were to ask, the steak could use teeny tiny bit more "flavor." Other than that, no complaints! My partner has had the Mediterranean Breakfast more than once and, it's always simple.. Yet very tasty and fulfilling. To drink, a non-alcoholic recommendation would be the mint lemonade. Definitely worth a try! Service: 3 Stars Don't get me wrong the waitresses don't deliver bad service but, on our multiple visits they've never really gone above and beyond to make our experience the best. All in all, I will be returning to The Knick for brunch. We love the laid back, yet trendy environment.

Went for breakfast on Saturday morning. Bloody Mary's were amazing. The server did tell us that they weren't spicy, and they were. She left a little to be desired in the personality department and didn't seem to really know much about the product. I had the crab hash. It was mediocre. I wasn't impressed with what I got for the price. And my toast was burnt and cold. My friend got the spin, mushroom and Brie omelet. It was amazing. However her toast was barely toasted and cold. Considering it was a $60 breakfast, I left unimpressed. Won't be back. Many other great places for breakfast in Milwaukee

I came here at 11am on a Saturday and it was nice that there was no wait. We were seated a pretty outdoor area and it was a relaxed atmosphere. The waitress was excessively cheerful and perky and very attentive. The mimosa/bloody mary menu is impressive - unfortunately didn't try one this time. I got the smoked salmon omelette. Slightly underwhelming... The Knick's omelets are the kind where you have a circle of egg with a puffy texture folded around the filling. I'm not a big fan of that type of texture, plus all the filling was lumped in the middle of omelette; can I get some equal dispersion? It tasted fine though and the potatoes and toast were nice. My friend got the crab hash which had a nice crab flavor but not too much crab meat in it. Overall this place is fine, but I'm sure there are better places for brunch for the same price.

Great for Sunday brunch. Food was nice Waiter was very helpful and we enjoyed a couple hours in the sun without having the feeling we get kicked out. Which is great for a Sunday Also had dinner there. The plates are large and they have "specials" from mahi mahi to steak. I would also recommend their cocktail list. You also have a bar which was very busy that evening. I do recommend this place

I re-posted this review because it was deleted after some time. SOME people don't want you to know how bad they are. I was there for the first time. I thought wow what a cute place. But the surprise I took. Let me tell you, it was my first and last time there. I was enticed to order the scallops $30 on their specials menu. Boy!!!! Was I disappointed! The plate was small with four scallops served on top of garbanzo beans and kale. So I ate the first one and it was burned it had the burned taste to it. I tried the second one, thinking maybe is just that first one. But that was not the case. Should I say something? I thought to myself, it was not pleasant eating a burned mea and on top of that pay $30. I handed over my plate to my husband to confirm that it wasn't just me making this up because I am not that kind of person that complains to get unless the issue really calls for it. My husband agreed that the scallops were indeed burned. So my waitress picked my plate that contained one scallop and half left because my husband took a bite of one to verify the taste of it. I was asked if I preferred anything else on the menu so I asked for something else that I was that it will not take long to cook. So I ordered a plate that was $18 for some Tofu and a Portobello mushroom. They took too long, by the time they brought my dish out everyone else had finished eating. By the end of the dinner with our friends they looked at the bill, where we consumed almost $200 in our dinner, and we noticed that we were charged the $30 scallop meal. We raised this issue to our waitress, whom did not do a good job at mediating between the customer and their manager. Said that they could not do anything because they had given me that $18 meal for free. Does this make any sense to anyone? This speaks poorly about their customer service, management and quality of the food in their kitchen.

Forgot to mention that the waitress implied that they have done a favor to us by replacing the burned scallops.

For the past two birthdays, I've celebrated here with birthday brunch (and several times in between). Each time I come here, I'm never disappointed with the service or food I receive. The crab hash is heavenly and the cocktails are delicious. They have a really great happy hour selection and I can always find street parking if I don't want to pay for the valet. The Knick, I'm a forever fan!

Best drinks in Milwaukee! I've only eaten here once and everything was fabulous- but we frequently stop here for drinks. All the bartenders are awesome, and the drink selection is top notch. Favorite drinks include the Pimm's Cup, Canadian Highway and if you're in the mood for something sweet try their PB & J drink (called Nuts & Berries I think!!)

This is my all time favorite restaurant. I absolutely adore everything about the place. Everything on the menu looks spectacular, but I've never managed to get past their blackened tilapia with spicy vegetable succotash. My husband, however, has tried virtually everything. He's in love with their ribs. Brunch is just alright. You've got to eat off their regular menu. It's absolutely amazing. If I had to pick my "last meal," it'd be The Knick.

The Knick is definitely a favorite choice of mine. I'll start with my one compliant: they removed the fried rice with tofu and bean sprouts from the menu, which was a great dish that even my non-vegetarian companions would steal and order for themselves next time. The Grilled Tofu Steak which has replaced it is pretty good, but not the same. Instead, I usually end up getting the Pear Salad. No restaurant in town is more generous with their cheese and nuts than The Knick. Furthermore, all of the starters are decent and the Tater Tots are some of the best around. The staff here is friendly and attentive. Going to the bathroom is a bit of a hike but you get to enjoy the lobby of an old fancy hotel on the walk. Parking can be an issue, but they often have a valet. The only thing I would change is to turn the lighting up a notch, and bring back the fried rice!

I should have a standing reservation here for Sunday morning. I come for brunch at least 3 Sundays a month. There something to be said for consistency. Between me and you, order anything off the menu for brunch, you cant go wrong, but don't skip on the side of fruit(sub for potato's) and dont skip on the bloody. Dont be cheap or make the mistake of ordering a regular. Spend the extra couple bucks, for more drink and lots of surprises inside your bloody... shrimp cheese etc. Another secret, is don't call for a reservation, since usually they say they don't take it, or give you a long wait. Open table will get you a spot, and they always have the table waiting when you go in. Great spot that only gets better as the sun comes out in summer. The patio is perfect right down by the lake.

This is a very solid choice for a good breakfast/ brunch experience in Milwaukee. The food is good, the atmosphere is inviting and trendy, and the service is very friendly. Whenever I go there, I always appreciate the valet parking. That area of town is very tight on parking especially on a weekend so I always find it helpful to not worry about scanning the surrounding blocks for a while. My only issue is the menu seems uninspired. For brunch, there are a few go-to choices for me but nothing that I have been blown away by. Nevertheless, I always get something tasty and have a good experience at a The Knick.

A great restaurant with a variety of menu options and a wonderful happy hour. We went on a Friday after work and scored with their happy hour that is offered M-F, 3-6. During HH, they offer $5 apps that take a more trendy approach to bar food. Delicious!

I took Mom here today for Mother's Day and ate brunch. Food was good, I had two eggs any style with breakfast potatoes and toast. Mom had a Cobb salad and said it was tasty, especially the blue cheese that was on it. I really enjoyed my Bloody Mary (Knick & Mary), I could tell they use homemade Bloody Mary mix. Lots of beers to choose from for the chaser. Prices were reasonable for the food and portion sizes. Service was great, server said Happy Mothers Day to my Mom, even though it's the next day. I like the blown glass chandeliers and the music was the right volume and was actually tolerable. Patio looks nice for outdoor seating.

Let me start by saying STAY AWAY FROM THE HOTEL. IT IS DISGUSTING. Any who, The Knick has pretty standard bar food and drinks. Their tots are fantastic and their burger too. Quesedillas are also a great selection. They are normally not super busy and the service is extremely good. They are the main part of this review actually. I ordered tots and burger one night and while eating my burger I found a hair. Not on the sandwich but in the meat. Yeah I know gross. But I don't judge a restaurant based on mistakes like that. I judge them based on HOW THEY RESPOND to mistakes. The waitress immediately took it away and the manager came out. She comped THE ENTIRE MEAL for me and and my fiancée. We didn't pay for a thing. She was extremely apologetic and very nice and even offered more food for free. Needless to say I returned several times upon seeing how they treat their customers in the wake of a mistake like that. Never saw another one the rest of the times I went and ate very well each time. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're in the area. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THE HOTEL.

After a long day (aren't they all?), I wanted nothing more than a burger and a shake. The Knick, as previous reviewers have raved, has better: burgers and ice cream drinks. That's ice cream. With liquor. Is this a Wisconsin thing? I haven't experienced it anywhere else, but maybe there's an ice cream drink underworld I've yet to discover. This probably makes no sense to most readers, but one if my only complaints about this place is the portion size--and not that it's too small. Now, I can chow down. But I had trouble finishing my burger, a rarity for me. Maybe it was just an off day for me, but personally, I would have preferred a smaller, juicier burger than a large "okay" burger. It needed a little more cooking--I ordered rare, which I tend to take to mean lukewarm in the center but very red/bloody; the center was still very much cold (not chilly. Cold.) Maybe folks don't usually order rare, but you should know how to prepare it. Half a star down for that. Top that off with an ice cream drink to share between two, and I knew the rest of the evening would be spent resting my stomach in a pair of sweatpants. That's where the other half star comes in: I wish either the waitress or the menu had mentioned how large these drinks are. We asked her afterwards how many customers finish the drink, and she told me that often times groups of people (comprised of more than two, as we were) come in to share them. Well, now I feel piggish. For the record, we could only finish half of it, and of course taking an ice cream drink home is (probably?) illegal. Open...container? Besides messy. We wondered (to each other, not the waitress) if they had a kid size, then realized what we were saying. But overall, for a weekday evening the service was wonderful (except for above), the happy hour special ($5 select martinis and cheap domestics) kept some money in my pocket for Tums, and overall the food was right at that 4 mark. I've had better, but it was still delicious. From the sounds of busy nights, I'd try it on a weekday!

A fun little breakfast spot near the lake! I can't remember what I had, but I remember it was good! Perfect place to have breakfast and then enjoy a walk in the park. Definitely worth a visit!

The first time I went to The Knick I was very skeptical... this was about 4 years ago, and I've been there about 30 times since. I don't usually associate Hotel restaurants with great food and drinks, hip servers, nice ambiance, etc. A friend of mine was "living" there (I guess you can rent the rooms like you would an apartment, I did not know), and he was like, "Come over and meet me at the bar". So, I went. Right away I was impressed. I've had a few ups and downs with The Knick but overall it's a solid 4.5. Although seasonal, I really love their Gazpacho soup, and their Watermelon Mint martini's. I usually order the Butternut Squash Ravioli each time I go and I am always satisfied... the sprinkle of pumpkin seeds is definitely a nice touch. I wish that they would bring back their Mushroom Cheese spread. The bartenders can also recommend a good wine, or play with an idea, like, "Can you make me something like an old fashion martini 'ish thing" ??? Sure. And, it usually comes out great. You can tell that they have had plenty of training or experience. I'm not usually a "sit at the bar" kind of person, but this bar is very accessible to me. You can chat with the staff, the music is great (personal opinion), the lighting is just right,... sometimes there's a game on which excites the atmosphere, but not to the point of belligerence. The bad experiences I've had are for my vegetarian readers... The Bloody Mary comes with a shrimp wrapped in bacon (it's been a while, so maybe they don't do that anymore), so I had to send it back. Also, one of the soups of the day which sounded vegetarian (potato leek?) also had bacon in it and so you need to ask, or at least tell your server that you are vegetarian. My Reputation at The Knick: The people who work here probably think I am an escort girl. I generally go on dates at the Knick, it has that kind of vibe, but 90% of my friends are guys so I can't help it. C'est la vie!

Best part about this place - the chandeliers! I wanted to wrap one up to go, but somehow they wouldn't let me. There were 10 of us here, so we pretty much got to try everything on the menu. It was pretty expensive, but pretty damn good at the same time. Definitely take the special omelet if they have it, typically has the freshest ingredients available. It was the best, with a little red pepper sauce drizzle... The location is absolutely fantastic. A part of me wished that they had a long wait when we got there, so we can go and walk around the lake a bit to walk up an appetite. So, if you are in the mood for something fancy - the Knick is your place to be!

We went for brunch here last week. The options and food was great. It wasn't too meat heavy and the food felt different than typical 'eggs and toast.' I made reservations and was happy I did because the place got pretty busy. I don't go out for brunch often, but was happy to see they had a wide variety of options and gave some creativity to their menu. I would go again.

Overall a very solid experience at a very reasonable price. Me and my friend went there for the fish fry on Friday. The main meal was quite solid, you're typical Milwaukee fish fry. The steak potato fries were quite good, and the fish itself was pretty spot on. Then again, its not hard to screw up a fish fry. But the salad on the side was right on the money, overall definitely worth the modest price of $13. However, I was severely disappointed with our shrimp appetizer. Which costs $12. The appetizer itself was THREE pieces of shrimp with some seasoning. While the shrimp was quite good, it wasn't $4 a piece good. A big ripoff, and I learned again never to order something from the "special of the day" menu. Overall would come again though, minus the appetizer. Service was friendly and efficient.

I like The Knick when I feel like getting a little dressier than sneakers. I first had their food during Downtown Dining Week a couple years ago, and since have only gone back a few times (mainly because we like to try different fancy restaurants for date night), but I have never been disappointed. Be prepared and come with an empty stomach though if you order more than an app. ***Heads up for the ladies: their floors are wood, and hence VERY slippery when it's raining or snowing outside!***

We went for brunch on Sunday around noon after we learned about the Knick at the Milwaukee Wine and Dine event (where we spoke to some staff and were impressed with their samples). When we arrived, we got our name on the list and were told it was about a 20 minute wait (but usually longer, we were on the tail end of brunch). We were seated within 5 minutes. I ordered the banana pecan pancakes with whisky butter and syrup. Boyfriend ordered the dill havarti omlet (without chicken, so I could taste it). I didn't care for the coffee, it tasted watery and burnt. The food came in pretty short time. Banana pecan pancakes with whisky butter and syrup where FANTASTIC. Fluffy pancakes (a little dry), great buttery flavor, beautiful presentation. The omlet was good. Not too greasy. Would go back.

After much Yelping, my two college friends and I decided to have Sunday brunch at The Knick before hitting up the art museum. We hadn't all been together for 3+ years so we wanted somewhere with a good atmosphere where we could sit and chat. We called ahead to get our name on the list to avoid a long wait, and the hostess had a table ready for us when we walked in the door, which was great. The menu is a combination of standard brunch fare and some slightly out there options (breakfast pasta anyone?) Two of us decided to go with the Crab Hash, and the third ordered french toast. I desperately wanted to order a mimosa, but one of my friends is pregnant and it seemed cruel to drink one in front of her. We noticed several versions of bloody mary's coming out of the bar, all with various combinations of vegetables coming out of them. I'm not a fan, but they looked pretty intense if you are. The crab hash was good; came out steaming hot with two pieces of really good wheat toast (odd to note, but rarely do you come across "really good" toast). The hash had a good flavor, but seemed to be lacking something. It would have really benefited from some kind of sauce. We felt stupid asking for ketchup, but it seemed necessary (though something better suited to accompany crab would have been much better). The french toast was possibly the biggest plate full I have ever seen, but it came out mostly cold and the syrup was cold as well. Not being the types to complain at a restaurant we let it go, but for the price it was disappointing. Overall a good experience, with nice attentive staff, but small things that keep me from bumping up a star.

Great and tasty artisan options. We had the Gorgonzola stuffed burger and the grilled chicken pita. Service was slow at first for a mostly empty restaurant but they quickly realized the mistake and offered us a free dessert!

Enjoyed the ribs, very good cole slaw, pulled pork sandwich, and sweet potato fries. The colorful, glass Dale Chihuly style chandeliers are beautiful. The room is a bit dark for me especially since menu has a gray background which makes it harder to read. Used Open Table to make 1,000 point reservation.

Some nights all I want is a good salad and a nice glass of wine, and the Knick is perfect for this. I recommend the shrimp and avocado salad. The seared scallop salad is also great, but ask for the dressing on the side. Otherwise the lettuce swims in it and gets soggy. I had different service experiences the last two times I was here. The first time my family's table was one of the only ones in the restaurant and inexplicably our server kept disappearing on us. After he brought me the wrong drink, I waited a good ten minutes for him to return to fix the order. Another time we had to flag another server to ask to send our server back around to the table. The next time we sat out on the patio and had very prompt service. Our food came quickly and water glasses were always refilled. The Knick also makes an excellent martini. I almost gave The Knick 4 stars, because I know I'll be back and I want it to succeed, but I can't help but feel that this restaurant is simply above average when it has the location and potential to be really great.

I've been eating here for a couple of years now. The food is always consistently good, but the service can be hit or miss. I'm a huge fan of their burgers and salads. Usually I get the crab cakes to start, then the bacon avocado burger while my girlfriend goes for a salad. The crab cakes actually have a large amount of crab in them and are cooked with a nicely crisp outside and hot center. I think the sauce is tarragon mayo which is freakin awesome. While I don't generally eat salads here, they always look super fresh and the portion size is quite large. What keeps me coming back is the bacon avocado burger. It's a big burger, with big slices of bacon and avocado on top, served with Louis dressing which is kind of like a spicy thousand island. The tomato, lettuce, onion on the burger is always crisp and cold while the bacon, cheese, and patty is always cooked right and hot. I think it's this attention to detail that makes me love the burger so much. While I typically dine at The Knick later in the evening, I never go unless I can get there an hour before close. So when I get a visibly irritated server, it kind of bothers me. This doesn't happen all the time, but it has happened enough for me to feel uncomfortable about eating there if I don't give them two hours to close down shop. Overall great/consistent food at a good price, but the service can be a bit off late night

I have been to the Knick several times, each time hoping for better service. The last time will in fact be the last time I go. Not sure how they always have people eating there. I go because it's convenient because I live right above it. The brunch is pretty good, nothing extraordinary. The salads are a total waste of money. No flavor and boring. However, I have had the scallops and risotto for dinner one time and it was delicious. The last time I went we had Katie serving us. She didn't smile once. It was like she hated that we were there. We ordered drinks and apps. She only checked on us once. Then never came back to get the bill. We waited 15 minutes and then ended up having to take it to the hostess to process it for us. It's sad, the Knick has decent food...too bad they can't hire better servers. Skip this and go to another Milwaukee restaurant. You're not missing out.

Went to Milwaukee this weekend to visit a friend and has a blast. Best part of the weekend was the Bloody Mary for sure. We came to the Knick for brunch on Saturday ready to get our eat and drink on. First of all, I love the way they do Bloody Marys. The Queen Mary was a huge glass that came with a piece of blackened shrimp, a block of cheese, pepperoni, peppers and a pickle. Say what!?!? Yea you read that correct. As soon as I ate my shrimp I knew it was going to be a good Saturday. For my meal, I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked just as I ordered it and the eggs were perfect. The rest of the table got the crab cake hash which was delicious. Overall a really good spot for food and you have to get the Queen Mary!

This place is alright. It is a lovely place to bring your loved one, friends or family, but I didn't think that the food was anything to write home about. The gorganzola peach salad just wasn't all that great to me. The peaches were all warm (borderline hot) and seemed like they were out of a can, and the gorganzola was hot, and I guess I'm just not used to this. I was envisioning a refreshing salad, but instead I got something that just made me uncomfortable to eat. My pork shoulder was satisfactory, but the polenta cakes did save it. They were very tasty. Also, everything here is Van Gogh vodka. I just think it is cheap to plaster a particular vodka brand all over your cocktail menu which makes it really look like you are getting a big discount from the company that makes it. Just not classy, and if you are trying to be a decent place which the Knick is trying to be, you shouldn't do that. Just an opinion. Overall, didn't hate this place, just some things didn't sit right.

We had a great anniversary dinner at the Knick on Friday night. From the minute we walked in the door the entire staff was gracious and warm. The homemade tater tots were great, I had the risotto and it was cheesy, creamy and YUM. Hubby had steak frites- said it was good but nothing special. We had pumpkin cheesecake for dessert and it was really good too. Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and great service. We'll be back!

If you are looking for an upscale brunch spot without the upscale price, think about stopping in to The Knick. From about $16 - $19 per person, The Knick delivers on creative flavor combinations and presentation. Since it is located on Juneau Street in Easttown, be prepared for street parking, but on a nice day, it is worth it. Additionally, think about stopping here in the spring or summer months. Their patio is a spot to see and be seen. Read the full review at MilwaukeeBrunchReviews.c… - milwaukeebrunchreviews.c…

Our waitress, Katlyn, was so good we didn't need her. When we said we were going to split one of the dishes, extra plates were brought without asking. When we said we had another 15 minutes before our appointment, drinks were refilled one more time. Didn't have to flag her down for overlooked items because she had already checked and brought everything. Sad to say to say, seamless is not standard practice.

I think what I appreciate most about the Knick is its dependability. Simply put, it works especially well for brunch if you want a nice atmosphere without going overboard. They recently updated the entire place with an altered (read: way cooler) layout and nice decor. There's generally a wait on Sundays between 10:00am and noon, but the bloody marys seem to keep those who are waiting pretty happy. For brunch, the Denver Omelette is a good pick as is the Andouille Sausage one. My girlfriend ordered a Breakfast Strada recently and loved it. They have several versions of Eggs Benedict (traditional, crab, etc) which I haven't tried, but they look excellent, provided Eggs Benedict are your thing. The Chicken Dill Havarti Omelette was okay. When you go, be ready for overly generous portions. The Knick is not quite five stars, but it's safe to say that you'll leave with a good impression.

Lay off my Chestnut Old Fashioned, folks!!! They ran out of Trader Vic's Chestnut Liqueur yesterday as I was getting my Old Fashioned on. Either, it is ordered all the time or so little that they forget to replenish their stock. Nevertheless, it is just one more reason for me to take a walk to the Knick. *nom*nom*nom*

I like The Knick. it's got some great items on the menu. Solid fish fry and tasty elephant garlic (which I never had before The Knick, but completely love now). I've been here for dinner (four stars), brunch (five stars), and after-dinner drinks (2 stars due solely to the fact that the bartender was a pompous ass and complained about customers within earshot of other customers which irritates me to no limit). I had the stuffed French toast for brunch about eight weeks ago and knew it would probably take two years off my life, but I would do it again in a heartbeat (just keep the defibrillator nearby). The first time I ate here about a year ago, I had one of the most amazing burgers I've ever eaten. I turned veg a few months later, but if I ever go back to the dark (meat) side, I would totally be willing to pop my burger cherry with a Knick burger. Dinner: 1 app, 2 entrees, 4 beers, dessert about $70 Brunch: 2 entrees, 2 cocktails about $35 (doesn't cover your insurance premium for a triple bypass from the stuffed French toast, but who cares?)

I have come here a few times. Two times for brunch, and one time for dinner. The dinner was very good. Brunch wasn't too bad. I got the TURKEY SCRAMBLE. It was good, but half way through it got to be too much. It was a little on the bland side; could have had some [more] seasoning. Other items ordered at my table were the SMOKED SALMON BENEDICT, which the salmon was cooked more this time making it a lot better, and the EGG SANDWICH, which was very good. I enjoyed the selection of music for brunch. The place was a little echo-ey, making it hard for me to hear others at my table. I would suggest making a free reservation for this place via open table so you can get in right away.

This place was my first stop during restaurant week. I will be back to try their brunch. It was not at all busy for a Thursday night, I honestly thought given it's proximity to jazz in the park, and it being restaurant week it would be busy. But we were there early and we were there for nearly 2 hours. The atmosphere of this place is classy. It almost made me forget I was in Milwaukee. The neighborhood and the restaurant have a very Gold Coast in Chicago or Chelsea in NYC feel. Props to the Knick and the Knickerbocker hotel. Our server was very attentive and very knowledgeable. They have Thursday wine specials! Half off bottles! I think if you wanted to you could make a meal out of their wine specials and appetizers, then follow it up with some Jazz at a very reasonable price. The restaurant week menu is limited, but boy did I enjoy it. I started with the elephant garlic, and honestly, they looked like onions! This appetizer smelled amazing. It came with warm pita chips, olive oil drizzle with some dried peppers, and feta cheese. Delicious! For my entree I picked the tilapia. The fish with its Cajun spices was amazing! The rice and veggies made this the perfect entree portion size. Dessert was the Sept 7 Cake, and that was delicious. My friends and I made jokes about the cake being around since September 7th, but that was not the case. The mousse, the whip cream, the chocolate cake. Ooo heaven! I had to eat this fast because I knew if I put down my fork I'd be too full to finish! Restaurant week impressed me. I will be back to try their brunch, and I think it will have to be this summer to take advantage of their outdoor seating!

This place has a decent menu, a good location, and an open atmosphere. The Knick is going to give you a good experience, but it might falter to impress. The only drawback is probably the menu which is very standard and doesn't have a selection enormous enough to make up. That being said, the Knick has made an impression on a lot of people and can offer up a good meal on a snowy, windy, or rainy day.

I came here for dinner and enjoyed a truly fantastic dining experience. Our waitress was incredibly efficient and observent. She noticed when my mother didn't enjoy her cocktail and offered to switch it out for one that she enjoyed very much. Check out their mint lemonade, which is very refreshing. I had the fish tacos which were a perfect light, summery meal. The tilapia tasted fresh and delicious and was complimented delightfully by the pico de gallo/avocado. I didn't try the dish my mother had, but it was presented artfully and she enjoyed it. The September 7th Chocolate Mousse Cake was fantastic and the perfect size to share with two people. Our food came out very quickly, even though the restaurant was pretty busy. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

The Knick is a nice ritzy little place right on the outskirts of downtown Milwaukee. My girlfriend and I had the pear salad and I had the Chipotle Pork Tenderloin for an entree. The sauce on the tenderloin was excellent and the salad was also very good. I think the prices are a little high for the amount of food you get - but the quality is definitely there.

We've had brunch here numerous times after church. The food is awesome. Usually we sit at the bar to avoid waiting. Today we had horrible service. "Eric" was too busy to wait on anyone. He pointed at us when we finally were able to give him an order which resulted from us asking for a menu multiple times. I had a Bloody Mary and had to beg for a beer chaser. When our meals came, they were awesome as always. But my order for wheat toast did not come. 5 minutes later and after my eggs were almost finished, I asked again for my toast and the woman bartender yelled for someone to get it and when she finally delivered it she threw it to the counter in front of me and walked away without apologizing or saying a word. Then "Eric" asked how everything was (of course we were almost finished) I said just OK. He said what was wrong and I told him of the poor service and terrible attitude. Of course he did not want to hear it and muttered "sorry to hear that" as he turned his back on us to ring up another meal for an unsuspecting customer. I must add that I was careless and walked out without my credit card. The woman bartender was kind enough to run after me and hand me the card. Thank you! Now,,, if they would only exert that level of effort to "serving their customers" in the restaurant and bar! Five stars for food, but universally they need a "manager" to begin training their service staff!

I love this place. So, when I get off the plane in Milwaukee from Boston, it is about 8 p.m. I get to the place I am staying, the County Clare, just in time for the kitchen to close-- EVERY time. And then I walk around the corner, STARVING, to the Knick. It is always open, the food is fabulous, and it is the greatest reminder that I'm not in Boston anymore because, people, this would be a $30 meal in Boston and it is $15 here. Yay for The Knick!

4 stars the first meal I had here, 2 stars for the second visit here. First time I had the bacon, cheeseburger with a side house salad. Burger was mouth watering, mixed green salad tasted fresh. Second time was the half roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. Chicken was wayyyy too salty, and not much breast meat to speak of. Mashed potatoes had a thick gallop of sour cream mixed on top...was much too over powering. I did not enjoy this meal. The atmosphere is cozy, nicely decorated. 2 flat screen TV's at the bar, good for sport fanatics who want to take their lady out for a nice meal and not feel like they are in an average bar.

We had a fantastic brunch at the Knick this morning! I've only ever had brunch here, but I think the Knick gives any of the well known places in Chicago a run for their money. We arrived around 11 and were seated immediately. Coffee was brought out immediately and was very fresh. For brunch I had the four cheese quiche. Oh man, delicious. Dill havarti? Yes please. The boyfriend had the crabcake benedict. Spicy hollandaise, nummy crab, delicious. We also had a side of strawberries and bananas, which I really appreciated. So many breakfast places only give you melon, which I don't like. Service was great and the bill was reasonable. We'll surely be back!

Brunch it was for us two plus two. K got eggs because everyone in the city had been messing up her Benedict lately. They were, well eggs. The bacon tasted a bit like sawdust, but they did honor her request for making it crispy!! points! A got the Crab mash. It was good.. maybe a little bit more seasoning. We shared the crab dip, definitely would get that again, yo. Their drinks were good, K got a 22oz "queen mary" bloody and had to sleep it off for about 2 hours afterwards. (it happens to the best of us) It comes with a shrimp, pickle, olives, pepper, and something that looked like a mini tomato. Service was good enough, have been there in the past for other meals. Salads are usually good too. Really compliments that they have an overlapping lunch and brunch menu because sometimes you want a little of both, i know we do. A -has been to this place several times and will be back. They have a very large and creative menu.. It one of those places where you can narrow it down to like 3 things and than you just have to suck it up and pick one when the time comes... Love that they offer a Saturday brunch but unfortunately they only do Benedict on Sundays.

Two words - crab hash. Oh, wait, two more - Queen Mary. The Knick's crab hash and oversize Bloody Marys are two reasons I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant. I'm a big seafood fan, so combining crab meat with hash browns and eggs is pretty much heaven. If you want the crab hash, though, it's better to go earlier because they sell out. The Queen Mary is a giant Bloody garnished with enough goodies to be a meal in and of itself. It's the ultimate hangover cure! And The Knick has a great outdoor patio for when the weather's nice.

This place is awesome. I went to brunch with a friend and it was fantastic. They give you huge portions for very reasonable prices.

I hadn't been to The Knick in awhile and had brunch there today with friends. Food and Bloodies were wonderful. The staff on the other hand has a lot of "tude." As we were walking back to our cars, we all joked that our waiter obviously hates his job and the rest of the staff seemed indifferent. I couldn't remember where the restrooms were and I was struggling and not one of the staff even looked up to notice. Either the entire staff was a bit hungover or they couldn't give a hoot about their customers. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back despite the excellent food and drink. By the way, they didn't seem that busy nor short staffed.

The Knick gets an A+ for atmosphere. It was a cozy spot with a lot of pizazz, given the recent overhaul of its interior and revamped decor. Very contemporary and fun. My fellow diner and I partook in the brunch offerings while sitting at a sunny table by the windows facing Juneau. I highly recommend this spot in the restaurant. However, you really cannot go wrong with any of the tables. Our server, Reegan, was attentive and friendly. Our menu selections were simple, which makes me want to return for a more adventurous choice (i.e., crab hash). I opted for the yogurt and fresh fruit with granola. There was plenty of seasonal fruit, and the portion size was ample for being a singular dish (no sides). I think that the dish would've been that much better with a low-fat or non-fat Greek yogurt option. My fellow diner chose the "eggs any style" and subbed fresh fruit in place of the potatoes. Ample fruit serving, yet again. So fresh and light. The scrambled eggs looked fluffy and were enhanced with a side of nutty, dry rye. Even the bread looked like it had just popped out of the oven. I enjoyed my experience at the Knick so much, I think I will return within the next two weeks. In fact, I'm going to make my reservation when I'm done writing this review.

Ever since my gf's and I started going to bruncht here I have not been disappointed. While I've only been there for brunch (well maybe dinner once?), I have to say I love it. They have great coffee and a nice atmosphere. They have tons of windows that let in great light. It gets awfully crowded on Sat. and Sunday mornings, so I would suggest making a reservation especially if you have a large group. I've had the roasted vegetable omelet, the Denver omelet, the breakfast sandwich, pancakes, and french toast I think. The breakfast potatoes are seasoned well and sometimes I get fruit instead which is always very fresh. A lot of my gf's really like eggs benedict and almost never pass it up at the Knick. The amount of food is ample and always leaves you full. I will say that the service is just so-so. I've had very good service and also not so good. Also, it's very difficult to park over there.

We went here on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. We wanted a good mix of casual and "nice", and I have to say the Knick nails it pretty well. No one looked at my sister-in-law sideways when she walked in with a hoodie, but the food was definitely a step above sports bar. I appreciated their extensive beer selection and interesting cocktails, and my scallops were cooked perfectly and VERY tasty. I've heard a lot about this place for brunch, so hopefully when we make it back to Milwaukee, we can get up early enough on Sunday to check it out again. :)

Atmosphere in spades. The outdoor seating is a blast. Saturday and Sunday brunch, well...you will be forgiven for your gluttony in heaven. It's fabu.

Given all the hype and rave reviews, I decided to check this place out for brunch one weekend, and was just generally unimpressed. I had a veggie omelet, which was just OK, in that plain vanilla lot's-of-egg, light-on-the-filling sort of way. Coupled with weak coffee, mediocre sides and hassled service, I think you can do much better for brunch a couple blocks north or south of here.

Yum! Great food and ambiance at a reasonable price. My friends and I went here around 9 for a late dinner and drinks. The menu is extensive with both entrees and lighter fare like sandwiches and salads. We all opted for sandwiches... I got the turkey, cranberry relish and brie on baguette. So tasty! I don't normally order fries, but my friends insisted I have these. They were fantastic. All this for just under $9, which is the same amount I paid for a so-so sandwich at rock bottom last night. The beer/drink list is also quite extensive. We went with the Spotted Cow since I wanted an "authentic" Wisconsin beer (but not the Beast). There is seating both inside and outside with the patio area being more casual. I would definitely eat here again if I come back to Milwaukee.

We arrived for dinner around 9:30 on a Saturday night. The dining room was about 1/3 full. Why we couldn't expect a decent table, moderately good service and tasty food . . . I do not know. First, we are offered the table closest to the hostess station, right next to the front door - the worst in the house, considering it was a cold night and every other member of the late night dinner crowd would speak with the hostess and walk past our table on their way to be seated. To her credit, the hostess did offer us another table, deeper into the dining room, when we asked. We ordered a dinner salad and rack of ribs, making clear that we were sharing both dishes. Perhaps our waiter did not convey this information to the kitchen, or perhaps the kitchen has little regard for presentation or the comfort of the restaurant's patrons. The salad and ribs arrived together, on two separate (heavy) plates, and the waiter provided us with only one clean plate and no serving utensil for splitting the food. So, we didn't have the option of eating salad first (knowing we would be sharing - IMHO the waiter should have asked our preference, if he didn't intend to serve the salad as the first course) and then were left unequipped to create two nice plates for ourselves - we had no large spoon to transfer 1/2 the salad to the clean plate, and then we had to use the gooey (salad serving plate) to eat from. It was an awkward, unpleasant mess, and our waiter disappeared, so he was no where to be asked for help. When he did reappear, it was a flyby, asking if we were ok. By that point, we had managed to get food on our plates and had started eating. Since he was evidently in a rush, we only mentioned that we would need MORE THAN ONE WET WIPE since two of us were sharing a full rack of ribs. He said "of course" and did bring us another wet wipe WITH OUR CHECK AT THE END OF THE MEAL, after clearing the plates. I don't know how the server managed to be both absent and a bother, but he did! The only other time he came by our table, he abruptly reached between us to fill our water glasses, without even the courtesy of an "excuse me" or "how are things at your table?" He reached in - SPLASHED ICY WATER INTO ONE GLASS - and, perhaps observing his error, took a momentary pause before filling the second glass and retreating from our table. I would think, when the dining room is only 1/3 full, the kitchen could have been attentive to our order. The ribs were stringy, and had not been properly cleaned, so we were spitting shards of bone throughout our meal. The salad could have been good, but was a large quantity of homogeneous mixed-vegetables, seriously overdressed. I liked the skins-on-fried-dark french fries; my partner did not. I hadn't been to The Knick in years. I was hoping for good things. I will not return anytime soon.
