This is my new go to Thai place. We wanted to order thai last night; we live close to downtown and didn't want to avoid the downtown places that can be a bit pricier. The food here was great. We got the pineapple curry rice... so so so good. We got two other meals as well. All the food was great and the cost was right on. I was happy to not have to spend $12-15 per plate. We will be making this our new go to dining spot for Thai. Update: We have been here several more times since this review and I still give it five stars. While the neighborhood can lead you to think it's a total dive, I encourage people to stop in. I am not a big fan of the neighborhood, but their food keeps me coming back. They are friendly and have great food. This is on my go to place for Thai.

Although I still prefer EE Sane at the moment, I could be swayed over time if ThaiBBQ keeps doing their thing. I was impressed at the number of people they had dining their on a Monday night. I guess you can't go wrong when the prices are super low and the dishes are tasty. The space itself seemed a little crowded and stuffy, they also had a tv going (so it's not the most romantic place), but still a step up from going to most asian restaurants. I ordered the pad thai, pineapple fried rice, and the chicken skewers. The pad thai was solid and worthy of a spot on my "will eat at any time" list. The pineapple fried rice was also pretty good. I'm actually not sure how pineapple fried rice is supposed to taste since it varies so much from restaurant to restaurant, but this one had a distinct curry flavor that went along with the sweetness of the pineapple. The dish I probably wouldn't order again would be the chicken skewers. They tasted like they were cooked much earlier and reheated. The service, as expected, is not the greatest. But you almost have to come to expect that. Overall, a great place to get a casual dinner without breaking the bank.

One of my favorite places to eat. Whether it is dinner or lunch I always find something for my cravings. The Thai papaya salad is excellent and is a must-have item whenever I go!

This place has some of the best authentic Thai Food! The few times that I have been here, my friends ordered for me so I have no idea the names of the dishes. However, I can say that you must try the Thai Tea. It is delicious! Only drawback is that you have to find parking on the street.

I've only been here once, but I was pretty happy with it. The prices were pretty good, and so was the food. I got my food to go, but, from what I saw, the interior was nice enough, and the staff seemed pleasant. One of the other reviewers mentioned that, whenever he goes with his white friends, the food is less spicy. Well, as the photo indicates, I'm white, and the food was pretty mild when I ordered it medium-spicy. Order accordingly.

Great food. Good service. Very nice atmosphere. I like the pud see-eww and all their appetizers are very delicious. I highly recommend this place!

I usually have this rule that if a place has a food item in it's name I won't order anything else. I won't go to Oakland Gyros and get a hamburger. I won't go to Five Guys Burgers and get a hot-dog. All of that aside, I'm a total slut for curry and coconut milk and I had a hankering for some curry when I went to Thai-Bar-B-Que. So I broke my rule. THE RULES ARE THERE FOR A REASON, PEOPLE. Listen, it was okay. Even a bad curry is good, in it's own way. Like bad sex. Even when it sucks (!) it's okay. Wait. How did we get so x-rated? Isn't this a family website? I thought we were talking about curry and coconut milk and vegetables? I reviewed the Lao place across the street, Ventieanne, last week and was less than impressed. This place scores way better on the presentation front. The restaurant is clean, well-decorated, and you can see the kitchen from the counter which is always a nice plus. I ordered the Karee Curry, which is apparently their Yellow curry and got a side dish of the fresh, not fried, spring rolls. Spring rolls were fantastic. They actually sea them shut, unlike Ee-Sane, and the sauce they give you with them is delicious. I'm almost positive it's a Satay sauce. At any rate, it blows away the sweet/sour that usually comes with fresh spring rolls. I loved it. The curry, however, was only okay. The Karree curry comes with potatoes, kinda like a Mussaman curry. The thing is, I'm almost positive that the potatoes in this were just crinkle-cut french fries. The carrots are obviously cut with a mandolin, and I'm willing to accept that maybe they have a wavy mandolin attachment to cut the potatoes too, but the texture was all wrong and they just seemed off. Maybe I'm wrong, but they weren't like any potatoes I've ever had in a curry before. Also, for hot peppers they just had big slices of (jalapeno?) peppers mixed in the sauce. I don't know they were jalapenos, but it was something similar. Where are my tiny and deadly Thai peppers? It was confusing and strange. The sauce was also kinda thin, honestly. I liked it, I guess, but as I said I'm a total glutton for curry. I've rarely met one I didn't like. That said, there are better curries in this neighborhood, much less in Milwaukee as a whole. I'll try something else from here, as everyplace deserves more than one shot. But I'm a touch wary and they'll have to impress me next time.

We went on a cold Saturday evening about an hour before close. My fiance was dubious about the place given the exterior, but by the end of the meal he was hooked. The service was great; we were greeted promptly and warmly, and our water glasses were kept full. The food was so plentiful and tasty; the shrimp spring rolls were my favorite part of the meal. The Thai beer paired well with the food. We were pleasantly full when we left and we can't wait to return!
(5)Christina K.
Christ, this place gave me a tummy ache. I had the drunken noodles, which were not flavored that well. We also had the papaya salad, which was tasty, but def on the sweet side and also loaded with salt. I woke up the next morning with puffy eyes from water retention. The portions though, were very very large. Service was strange. Bless her heart - there was only one waitress, though there were only five tables while we were here. Very sweet though. I prob wouldn't come back...

I've been to Thai restaurants all over the United States and I know good Thai food when I taste it. The flavors are balanced and distinct...you should be able to taste lemon grass, galanga, delicious curries and coconut milk, Thai chilis, etc...the ingredients are fresh. The restaurants are tastefully decorated, clean, smell good and the service is polite and respectful...attention to detail is observable even in the humblest of family run Thai restaurants. All hallmarks of a good Thai restaurant. Unfortunately you get none of the above at Thai BBQ. When I walked in I immediately smelled pee, old urine. The place does have some charm to it but it ends there. I got the impression it was Laotian trying to be Thai. I ordered the Satay Chicken...the chicken was just OK on sticks that looked old and reused with burnt grease on them...yuck. The peanut sauce was glorified watered down peanut butter and the cucumbers looked old...no toasted white bread with it either which good Thai restaurants always have. I ordered the Massaman Curry, an ancient Thai Muslim dish . I've eaten this many times and I usually love it...but the potatoes were frozen crinkle cut French fries, no no no no no a thousand times no...it was a b.s. gravy, not a Thai curry dish, no cashews or peanuts, no bay leaf, no star anise, and unforgivably no coconut milk, no chilis...it had huge slices of green and red pepper, and slices of jalapeño??? The chicken was overcooked and stringy. Spicy mush. I wanted to like this place but it was just sad all around. I see people giving this 5 stars, they must never have had real honest to goodness home cooked Thai food.
(1)Yan H.
Thai BBQ has remained my most frequently visited restaurant in the past 5 years. It's delicious, it's cheap, and unlike the other thai restaurants of MKE... remains untouched by gentrification. Hurrah!
(4)Gerry M.
First of all, the owner is the nicest person to meet! Props on the food!! If you love thai food, this is the place to go for authentic thai! When you first walk in, you'll notice the nice authentic decorations in the restaurant. It's kept very clean! That's one of the things I look for in a restaurant!! The thai iced tea is fabulous! very light , milky and delicious! I gave this place a 5! Service was very good, they refilled all my drinks!! We ordered the Larb Gai; it was very tangy -just the way I like it!! What people dont understand is that you can order anything the way you like it! Next dish I ordered was Rad Nar Gai. It was unique, how they made the sauce for the dish. It was very good. Everything about this restaurant was very good and staff was very friendly. Definitely eat lunch here, you won't regret it!

This is by far the best Thai food you can eat in Milwaukee. The prices are reasonable and the quality of the the food is good. It is authentic and delicious. I am a curry addict and all the Curries and soups are fabulous. You have to try the appetizers and the grilled beef and chicken. The sauces on the other dishes are super tasty. This is the place to go to during this cold weather.

Holy shit what happened?!?!? This was our go-to spot for a long time, but Thai BBQ is losing it. Every single thing we ordered was 1. not the same as before 2. really, really bad. the iced coffee was so sweet it was like sipping on some sizzerr, no really I took one sip and pushed it aside. The snapper we ordered was not snapper, the curry red sauce was not curry red sauce. The fried rice tasted dried out and bad, there were two shrimp in the whole thing Everything tasted old. No really guys, we couldn't eat it. The fish had a really strong fishy flavor to it, we both took a bite and set our forks back down. We spent $30 and literally our plates and glasses were full and we did not get it to go. We didn't say anything to the staff but our untouched plates made our point for us, that and the 5% tip. The group next to us were telling the staff that their food tasted spoiled as we were walking out. Thai BBQ has been on "dirty dining" before, but they were so good I dismissed it.. Carrot boxes on the floor?! Ahh that's forgivable.. Except now entire entrees taste like they have been on the floor for a couple days.. It only takes one truly bad experience... We won't be back. On the hunt for a new Thai spot.

I am Thai and moved to Milwaukee about a year ago. I tried a lot of Thai and Vietnamese places looking for some good Pho and traditional Thai dishes. After following reviews to plenty of places that were pretty Americanized I hit jackpot here. I'm still searching for authentic Thai, but as far as satisfying my cravings go, this place gets the job done.
(4)Diana J.
Everything here is delicious. They have the most unique and yummy sweet and sour chicken I've ever had. The curry is phenomenal. The service is so friendly! Go for lunch- you'll be amazed at how much food you get for the lunch specials :) However, don't go here if you're close to giving birth- I'm pretty sure my spicy meal put me into labor ;)
(5)William U.
We were headed to the chicken place next door when we saw this place. We decided to try it. I am glad we did! The place was packed for lunch by 12:30. The food was really good. Service was slow and I had to get my own water refill once. But once everyone was eating they did come around with more water. But I liked the food. I had fried rice my friend had a noodle dish. The portions were good and the food was great. Nice to find a thai pace on the Southside. Would be a great place to call ahead and pick up for a ball game at miller park.

Thai Bar B Que has a lot to offer people that like Thai food. The menu is exclusively Thai, and it's some of the best I've had in a long time. It definitely rivals many other Thai restaurants in the city, but, unfortunately does not set the standard (although it comes very close). The atmosphere is classic Thai restaurant, and the waitstaff is very friendly. I recommend the Pad See Ew, veggie or chicken. The egg and spring rolls are pretty awesome as well.
(4)Stephanie S.
Where to start.... First, we had to bus our own table before we sat down, second, we had to wait 20 minutes before the only waitress in the place acknowledged us, third, they forgot the appetizers. They continued ith screwing up the beer, dropping off one meal... And 10 minutes later, the rest. I got the pad Thai, and being a sissy, ordered a spice scale of 1 (1 being low, 5 being crazy hot). Our friend, who also ordered the pad Thai, ordered a 5. They made both at a 5 and mine was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I had to send it back. They didn't even put the new dish on a clean plate- because the remaining painful spice was there ( noticed it in leftovers). And to top it off, they added gratuity to our group of four because they knew they screwed up and it was the only way get a tip. Service was so horrible that it will be a very long time before we go back. On a positive note, what food they did remember and not screw up was awesome as always.

All of my friends recommended we try this restaurant, so we blindly brought my husband's grandmother to eat here based on the many suggestions. The service was so slow I had to get up to remind someone our order hadn't been taken in 20 minutes. Plus, we were extremely disappointed to find 3/4 of our meat in our various dishes (from aps to entrees) were served RAW (and shouldn't have been). For example, the chicken skewer BBQ appetizers were raw on the inside when I bit in, and the waitress questioned me when I shyly brought it to her attention. It was pink, rubbery, and inedible. She took it back and said she would have one of the chefs cook the same skewer for a bit longer. I'm no chef, but raw chicken brought to a guest's table on a wooden skewer and then recooked and brought back is GROSS to me as a customer; is that a bacteria-laden stick going into my mouth? Who knows. It definitely grossed out Gram. The food wasn't the greatest and we didn't get any apologies from staff, so I won't be giving them a second shot.

This feels very authentic, the service is warm and attentive and the food is delicious. I've driven past this place a dozen times, but am very glad to have taken the time for lunch. I'll be back!
(5)Kris P.
For something in walking distance from work, this is a viable option. However, I wouldn't say that it's the best Thai in town. We've only been for lunch, and it's been a decent option. Lunch specials are pretty well-priced for what you get - entree, fried rice/chow mein, egg roll, soup. The good: -Thai Papaya salad: pretty good and very similar to a Vietnamese salad. -Red Curry The Not-so-bad: -Pad Thai -Tom Kha The Ugly: -Thai Tea: Way too sweet Note that when you order "hot" for the curry, it's been "dumbed" down a bit so it's what I'd consider a mild/medium. It's a nice atmosphere with Thai decor, and service is usually pretty friendly and relatively quick.
(3)Jim F.
good place close to industry. I stopped in at lunch and was happy with food and service.
(4)Dustin D.
Seriously, huge portions, great flavor.. and if you ask for it extra spicy, it is EXTRA SPICY! I'll never look at fried rice the same way again.
(5)Rohan D.
I like my Thai food hot, like I remember from Bangkok, but if I go here with my white friends, even those who really like hot food, they won't serve the food authentically spicy. They will if I'm alone or with brown Asian looking friends, even if they don't like the food authentically spicy. I find that humorous. The food here is excellent, and unlike a lot of authentic Thai joints with great food, the interior decor is pretty nice. There's the added entertainment of cheesy Thai music videos on the big flat screen television, which I find mesmerizing and droll. Wide variety on the menu, we always order more entrees than we can actually finish to try new dishes. The weakness is erratic service. I go there often enough to recognize a strange pattern. There are a couple of younger Thai women who are the regular servers, they are excellent. Sometimes, inexplicably, the owners schedule random Southeast Asian friends or acquaintances to work as waitstaff, who have no related experience. The last time I was there, the waitress was a 60 year old woman who works IT during the week, never worked in a restaurant before, and she was really quite inept in all aspects of waiting tables. She even had a bad attitude about it. How good is the food? I'm actually going back there again, after the bad service experience. The food is very tasty.
(4)Aaron Y.
I love this place! The food is spicy and delicious, the portions are large, and its very affordable. Try anything with Bangkok in its name and you'll be exrltremely satisfied.
(5)Stephen B.
Make that seven times since December. My wife thinks I'm addicted to Thai Bar-B-Que. I'll admit it, I am. I wake up in the the middle of the night thinking about this place :). I have sent other there and every single one of them feels the same way. Sooooo Gooooood
(5)Brian D.
Best Thai food in Milwaukee. Since trying ThaiBBQ any other Asian resistant just doesn't meet my expectations. Always recommend an order of fresh rolls!
(5)Francis D.
Eating here for lunch is better than smoking a big ass blunt and going back to work... call it blunch. Ordering 'traditional' spicy won't really take you there if you're American, but they've a nice little spice cart they bring to your table and the euphoria you'll have after eating here will take you right through the rest of your day, as long as you don't have to sweat through an interrogation like George Costanza from Seinfeld. Decor and staff are pretty awesome. Great place to grab a Singha or tea. The website is crazy interactive too.
(5)Virginia L.
I love this place!!! The food is so good and so reasonably priced. True story: a friend now living in Thailand has eaten here and has said the food is very authentic..... Truly Thai. Try the fresh spring rolls. Highly recommended.
(4)Will P.
A good friend of mine got me hooked on this place, and I have to say that I'm hooked. Very fresh flavors and a huge menu selection makes it easy to come there often and discover something new. The service is very friendly and eager to please and offer suggestions. The curry dishes are the best I've ever had- I'd recommend the red curry with chicken as my personal favorite. The fresh spring rolls are also delicious. Prices are reasonable and the staff is very attentive to young children (my friend and I have had "Daddy Daughter Date Lunches" there and always have found the servers to be very attentive to the small children). Overall, this place is a treat for anyone who enjoys Thai food or trying something new.
(4)Tom M.
My girlfriend and I came here based on the good reviews we received. I was pleased to see that there were vegetarian options since we are both trying to maintain a vegan diet. We had Tom Kha soup to start (with tofu instead of chicken) and it was very good, although a little crrunchier than I was used to with the addition of lettuce in the soup., We then haddrunken noodles and mussaman curry, again, both with tofu. They were both very good, although I was a little surprised at the mussaman curry. It is traditionally made with potatoes and peanuts. This dish had crinkle cut french fries instead of cut potatoes in the dish and no peanuts. I suspect they just ran out of potatoes and were improvising. We will likely come again.
(3)Gavin J.
I really enjoy this place. The owner/chef guy is very welcoming and the food has a lot of flavor. Their website is awesome too. The menu is a bit intimidating, just get the pork thai!
(4)Laura F.
I love the bright, sharp, spicy flavors of Thai cuisine, and have always wished to find a favorite place for Thai in Milwaukee. So last Sunday I dragged my husband on a quest to find that in our own neighborhood, which is actually rife with Asian dining options. I had seen Thai BBQ open recently, so we decided to check it out. As the Shepherd reported, there is some serious kitch going on here. While the dining room is refreshingly bright and comfortable, Thai karaoke plays on a flat screen television on a prominent wall, and there are masks and other artifacts all over the room. We tried a Laotian shredded papaya salad, a soup noodle dish (can't remember the name) and the Beef Panang curry. The Panang was outstanding, the salad interesting and wonderfully spicy, and the noodles, well, not really so good. It might just be a matter of taste, but we didn't like the texture of the chicken or pork in the broth. My husband swore it was "old" meat, I really don't know. I've had some amazing noodle soup dishes at restaurants in other cities, and can never figure out why the ones I order in Milwaukee are never up to par. But I'll chalk it up to bad luck, and next time go back for the Panang and some other unique choice. They have a huge menu, so there's plenty to explore!
(3)April B.
I come here at least once a month with my fiancee. Some favorite dishes of ours include isaan sausages (tangy and salty), kare curry (a creamy tomato based curry that's excellent with fried tofu), the volcano chicken and chef's special (served with vegetables and delicious sauce on a sizzling plate), curry fried rice (rice fried with salty, spicy curry sauce), and the pad see ew ($8 for a ridiculous amount of food). We've yet to have a bad meal here. I'll agree wholeheartedly with other reviews that their service is usually hit-or-miss and the place could use a serious deep cleaning! However, the food is consistently amazing and their portions are huge and filling, so we'll probably keep coming back as long as Thai-Namite continues to charge $13 for an inferior, tiny plate of (the above mentioned) pad see ew.
(4)Angela W.
Stopped in for the highly recommended lunch. Let's start with the price $6.99- super affordable and the portion was large. I ordered the grilled beef skewers. The lunch comes with a cup of chicken soup which you can tell was homemade, it was delicious. Perfectly salted and full of veggies! My grilled beef, although not on skewers and rather thin slices was also delicious. Served with both rice and noodles- both lackluster. It is also served with a fried spring roll. Both my co-diner and my first spring rolls were frozen, both the waitress quickly replaced with fully cooked, which were tasty. Although I wasn't over the moon for this place, I thought the price was perfect and will be back again.

I've been to Thai Bar-B-Que a few times. Most recently for "Pho-February" where this place as well as two other restaurants competed for the best Pho soup for the month of February in "Silver City". My review will start off with ranking the restaurants places for the Pho-February competition. Here is my ranking for the Pho: #1 - Thai Lotus #2 - Vientiane Noodle Shop (really a tie for #1 but if I were forced to choose...) #3 - Thai-Bar-B-Que Thai Bar-B-Que had the worst meat. They only offered beef for the $5 Pho-February. Which I thought... ok, I probably wouldn't order the beef but I guess I'll try the beef at all places to keep it fair! Thai-Bar-B-Que just decided for me. Their beef was by far the worst beef. I'm picky with meat, I'll admit. My description of picky is that it should not contain lots of fat and tendons, which I'd say is not meat. I realize that fat and tendons are near the meat and connected to the meat, but it shouldn't be a major portion of the meat that gets served, just my opinion. Thai Bar-B-Que's menu and the side dishes with the hot pepper and seasonings were disgustingly dirty. It really is a turnoff when they can't keep the stuff that I can see clean, let alone the stuff that we cannot see. I've been here before for the hot pot soup which was very good. Also for other meals. And I've credited them stars accordingly (3 is not bad). Pho-Fail, though.

Let me start by saying this was one of the worst restaurant experiences ever ! I braved the winter weather to go here an once I get in I walked into the dining area of the restaurant and was standing over the diners The awkward wait standing over fellow dinners wasn't that prolonged as we got a table quickly After a long wait to get the attention if the waitress who was taking orders from everyone who arrive after us we finally got our order in. Long wait ... I tell the waitress can you get the drinks ,appetizer , soup and my sons food earlier and no need to wait for the whole order ... The. She says ok you want the whole order together ... Seriously if I want it together would it tell you it's OK to bring in what ever is ready Anyway ... Soup arrives with soup spilled all over ad cilantro leaves hanging over the soup bowl. Did you just dip the bowl Into the soup ? No soup spoons provided ...how do you expect to drink the soup Appetizer is delivered with no side plates forks or anything .... Wt&&&$$ So we wave down the lady who was serving water to get plates and silver wear All the food arrive still no drinks ...urgggg ... My night is already ruined at this point I ordered a mild Beef Paw see ew for my son . MILD .... Not a dish with generous portion Of pepper thrown on top.....at this point I am annoyed and have to deal with a hungry kid who can't really eat his food since it has too much pepper...... Where is my wine !! ..... After asking we get our drinks Food Was actually good but I am sorry I don't have to dive all this was spend my money to get bad and clumsy service Despite the good reviews about having fries (yes fries) in you curry dishes we did not find is appealing. It felt like a cheap move to put frozen potato fries Anyway when we told the waitress she is like you can tell the owner about that I can't don anything (heap we agree that you cannot do much I anything but how about taking the feedback to the owner ) grrrr Please remember NOT to use the bathroom..... Ewe dirty ! My overall opinion Cramped up place , bad service, food /chef is good I will not return as there are enough good Thai restaurants in the city where I can have a much pleasant experience

Mmmm. Thai BBQ. My old roommate introduced this place to me 5 years ago and i have been hooked since! I've introduced all of my friends to this place too, and they all agree with me that it is yummy! :-) I usually always get the same items when I come here to eat. Fresh spring rolls, Massamum (sp?) Curry with chicken and the Pad See Ew with beef. Don't be discouraged when you see that they use crinkle fries in the curry in place of regular cut potatoes lol. If you close your eyes, you will never know the difference! Tonight when I dined with friends, (one being a newbie) it was a good experience yet again. We ordered the Fried Squid appetizer which was delicious! The mussels for an appetizer, which came with a pretty funky dipping sauce (not a fan) - mussels were on the bland side as well. For entrees we had the curry that I mentioned above, Volcano Chicken which was phenomenal, Pad Thai (not a fan of - was more on the sweet side with a kind of heavy sauce. Slightly red in color, so that threw me off, and the Pineapple fried rice which was good! We enjoyed the Thai iced tea and Thai slushies (crushed ice with sweet beans, jack fruit, coconut milk, sweet corn, along with a few other items in which i cannot describelol. Not in the best neighborhoods, but really.... who cares? Make sure to lock your car doors and step inside to enjoy some great food! :-)

I thought this place was alright. The pad thai is different. The noodles are thinner and seemed to be on the sweeter side. I didn't mind it but it just didn't seem like authentic pad thai. Also tried the panang curry, which tasted a little off. Not sure what it was but maybe something in it wasn't quite fresh. I do like the type of meat that they use though; the beef was thin sliced and not big chewy pieces like I've had at some other places. All in all, I doubt I will return unless I'm in the area. ...but the prices were super reasonable for the portions, which is always a big plus!

I had the worse experience at Thai Bar-B-Que. On New Years Day I went out to lunch with a group of friends. The main reason why my experience was terrible is because the waitress forgot to return my card when we paid the bill. She not only forgot to return my card, but my friend's as well. When I went back to the restaurant to retrieve my card, the waitress didn't bother to look. I proceeded to asked another staff member that looked after I had requested she do so. She walked past me and then started serving food. She did not tell me what was going on. I then realized she was done looking, so I left the restaurant. My friend called the restaurant several hours after my visit to the restaurant... Both of our cards turned up! By then I had cancelled my card. How inconvenient! Plus the mystery seafood balls were not too tasty-- think seafood flavored tofu! The Thai coffee was good. Bon appetit!
(1)Amanda Y.
Food here is super good. The only downsides are the limited parking and slow service. There's only two waitresses and they work really hard. Best Thai tea in Milwaukee!
(4)Rick R.
Went back for pho last week during the Phobruary promo featuring $5 pho. The broth was pretty good but I still had to tweak it to my preference. The noodles were great as were the various pieces of meat which included beef, tendon, tripe and meatball. I would probably stick to other parts of the menu, but the pho will take care of a craving if needed.

So, since being in Milwaukee I can not find decent tasting Asian cuisine. I ordered drunken noodles and tom kha soup. Soup was flavorful and a tad salty for those who watch their in take. The noodles, were over cooked and the presentation of the entree was lacking to say the least. Not very appetizing when I requested a 3 on the hotness scale and someones grandma dumped a whole bottle of black pepper in my food. Not chilli powder or siracha, black pepper. Not the best experience for me. My fiance on the other hand had a decent meal of bbq pork. Plenty of parking, but lack of seating. Parties of 4+ will have gratuity added, checks can not be split.

Came here a few weeks back. It was a heat wave and was like 90 something and humid. Came here with a big group of people, I believe it was 15-20. They did a good job at accommodating us, especially for a restaurant this size. The food was good but my only complaint was the freshness of the ingredients. The lettuce was rotten in the spring rolls. It was brown and smelly and tasted rotten. I took one bite and immediately noticed it. I picked it out and sure enough it was wilted and rotten. Also, the egg rolls also had the rotten smell and taste to them. It was similar to the smell and taste of sour past due rice. Otherwise everything else was delicious; I was skeptical because of the appetizers. The pad Thai was good and the curry too. The curry noodles (kapoon) was also very good. The Lao style papaya salad was great. Very flavorful without all the brown liquid. The person who made it knew what they were doing. Other than the smelly appetizers the food was great. I think it may have been the heat that week, who knows. Glad the entire meal wasn't ruined by the appetizers. I'm not a food snob and I can imagine some people throwing a huge fit. I like good food at a reasonable price and usually don't complain unless it's a huge deal. Rotten appetizers are the least of my concern and not a good enough reason to give this place one star. It happens. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall. Not the cleanest place either. But I don't go to restaurants for the service or the decor. I go to eat! If I don't find hair in my food and if I don't get sick the next day I usually don't complain about dirty restaurants. I'm also glad they don't cater to wealthier people and charge $15 for a plate of noodles, I mean come on they're noodles!!! This is street food from the streets of Thailand, it isn't supposed to act fancy and have a huge price tag. I like this place because the flavors are authentic and everything is reasonably priced with good portions. I would go back and would give them 4 stars if the appetizers didn't have rotten ingredients.

Stop by for a quick lunch. Ordered the beef pad siew and honeydew bubble drink. The noodle was greasy for me (need to request less oil next time), found the beef to be somewhat chewy, loved the Chinese broccoli in the dish, it was nice and crisp. The drink was too sweet had to dilute mine with water. Overall, nice quick lunch was in and out. Will be back to try the other items on the menu

I am not a regular customer but every time time I come here. What is up with the customer services level here? Not satisfy. We got in around 5:30pm on 2/11 and waited for 20min and did not even get water? Done.

Decided to give this place another shot cause my roommate likes the pho and I was craving some. First we weren't even acknowledged when we walked in. After we were seated, waited, decided on our meals, waited some more. Another group came in, got sat down, got their water, got their order taken.... Needless to say we decided to leave.

Stopped in for a late lunch for my sister's birthday 1:30 there were 5 other groups that came afterwards. We had a mix of 3 apps Thai fried rice curry a noodle dish and a soup, the soup comes with plenty of fresh lime, bean sprouts,Thai basil, jalapeño and lime on the side for you to add later. I wish they had fresh coriander in this mix. Don't forget to ask for the four service condiments. The Thai basil was very fresh and added a light licorice taste to the whole meal. My sister ordered level 2/5 and my brother and I added more chili to bring on the Thai sweat level. Food: 4/5 We had good servings sizes. Not as big as some places but good enough. Menus were great each item had a picture with a description. (See pic.) I jokingly said that a few places in the South have menus on a flip card with no words just pictures this is usually for the tourists, or illiterate, I guess.( just point and grunt, nod. ) It works very good here. The fortune cookies were not very crisp, chewy. Didn't feel like testing the Thai tea. I'm not a fan of extra Sweet Tea, sweetie. Atmosphere: 4/5 plenty of decorations. Art and sculpture. I wish the temperature was a little cooler since my face was on fire from the seasoning. They had a window AC unit near the front door. Service: 5/5 good timing for apps and entrees table was set up nicely. Waters topped off regularly. The staff was interactive. Location: 3/5 W. Milwaukee just east of 35th parking on street was easy to find on the weekend. Police are in the neighborhood on foot. Value: 4/5 all dishes were under 9 each. We all had plenty to eat and took home the extra, for later on. Sawadi crup

Our group of friends wanted to go out for Thai and we decided to dine here since it was close by and prices seemed decent. The place is very home-y. Thai decor all around and it just seems very authentic. Their menu includes all your usual Thai suspects plus a few viet dishes as well. They have pho?!? Don't get the Thai tea...they put too much half and half and was too sweet/milky for me. Our side of the table ordered the Tom Yum. This was your typical Tom Yum. Nothing crazy spectacular. Has your meat, 'shrooms, tomatoes, etc... It wasn't spicy enough for me, however. The Thai tea and soup was what stopped me from giving them a 4. In order for me to like a Thai restaurant and continue going, I always order the pad Thai the first time. I call it the 'Pad Thai Test.' It's like the gold standard of Thai food. All Thai places need to know how to make a good Pad Thai. If not, they're not a good Thai place, IMO. So...I got the Pad Thai. For $9, they give you a decent portion of everything. I liked it overall. The sauce was on point, except the orange coloring was too intense (see picture posted). The noodles were great. Glutinous and a little chewy/stretchy just how Pad Thai noodles should be. Perfect. I liked that they served it with the bean sprouts and peanuts on side, they should have given us bigger plates to mix everything. Their pad Thai has no spice to it so ask for the chili flakes to spice it up. The tofu was also a little firm but wasn't a big issue! Overall, it's a Thai place I would definitely try and go again, especially since the other supposedly good Thai place in mke failed my pad thai test. Our table was happy with their food. I will be coming back to try the rest of their goodies since its so close to my house. :)

Was in town to visit the Zoo and guess where I wanted to eat. Yup. This is my first choice in all the places in the Milwaukee area to eat at. Still haven't been disappointed. Good portions, low prices, and authentic flavors. This time got the Panang curry, pad Thai, and tried and true Yum Neur. All good and pungent. And one of the few restaurants where if you ask to make it spicy, prepare to pay the price cause it will be fire burning spicy going in and coming out. There is a gratuity added for 4 or more FYI but it's fun sharing dishes with the others in your group. Dining area is not the biggest so I recommend going during off hours. Parking is also very limited and so you'll probably end up parking in the street. Don't let the neighborhood fool you. This little shop is a gem.

I'm from California so I've been trying to find a Thai Place that reflects my expectations of authentic Thai food. I was disappointed with the first Thai place I encountered in Milwaukee. I stumbled across this place because I was going to get a mangonada from the Mexican restaurant down the street. I saw this place and wanted to try it over Mexican food. There are only a few dishes that I like to order whenever I got to a Thai restaurant. Last night I ordered the Pad Thai and Fresh spring rolls. Pad Thai was amazing!! It was great and there was a huge portion. I was able to take it to go and have actually had to split my left over to two portions because it was a lot!! The price was reasonable too!! Only $8 for great dish and portion!! I've gone to two other Thai restaurants and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that the dishes should be more than $9-$10. Fresh Spring Rolls was also delicious. It was probably the cheapest price I've ever paid for Spring Rolls. Two rolls for $2.99. That's a great price, but it might be cheaper since there's no shrimp in it. The sauce was amazing. My date was laughing at how I couldn't stop gushing over the sauce. I know how to make spring rolls, so I have high expectations for peanut sauce. I'll be going here from now on every time I'm in the neighborhood!!

There might be better Thai food in Milwaukee, but not for these prices. Possibly not at all

Only one visit here for lunch but the food was great! The menu is amazing and the food is pretty authentic. Any Thai place that serves green papaya salad is gonna be decent. The Pad Thai and red curry were good. Prices were good. Service was good. So far, I would call this Milwaukee's best Thai.

After moving back from London and travelling the world, this restaurant saved my ethnic tastebuds. It is truly an authentic Thai restaurant and I have eaten in and out with the same fabulous results. The pho is wonderful, amazing fried rice selection, fabulous curries and even the best sweet n sour chicken i've ever had. They grill their vegetables and put them into dishes with a little crispness to them so they are not over done in any way. I would suggest this place to anyone looking for authentic Thai food as you can also choose from a level of spice from 1-5. It is traditional with lots of trinkets around the place and has a busy environment with tv on, etc, but I'm not concerned about the environment, its the food that matters so if you don't like the feel of the place, get a take away as I highly recommend. I am a serious foodie, have eaten all over the world including Thailand and this is very good food. Others have written some bad experiences and I believe this must just be personal taste and an unlucky night as I have been here at least a dozen times and never a bad eating experience in or out. I hope you enjoy.....

A was craving some Thai food and a friend took me here. Just walking in you can tell this is a more authentic Thai restaurant. My food was good I asked for medium spice but it was a bit in the week side for my taste. I will definitely take it up a notch next time. The ambiance was that of a family run Thai restaurant clean but cluttered with the kids watching tv in the corner. The staff was friendly and service was average. If I'm in the craving for Thai I would come back. Good sized portions for the price.
