This is my favorite location. Great pizza by the slice. If you haven't checked out their feta, it's the best. The Alfredo is very light and creamy. Service was on point. Price isn't an issue.

As a NY transplant that spends lots of time looking for and being disappointed by pizza, this is the closest thing you can get to new York style pizza in the midwest. I come here whenever I'm in town.

wasn't horrible, but close. bottom of one of my slices was soggy/spongy. homeless person hanging outside hitting up my wife for slices. I went here a while ago and thought it was way better.. tho I was drunk that time so who knows.

Best pizza in Milwaukee. My coworkers and I all agree. And what a fantastic staff they have! They have a great selection of classic and fun pizzas, warmed when you order. One slice is enough unless you're a big eater. One is bigger than my head! My very favorite is Grandma's pizza. It's got fresh basil, dollops of sauce, with garlic and the right amount of grease. The buffalo chicken is also phenomenal. So spicy and the chicken is great (coming from someone who is super picky about eating chicken out). They use fresh ingredients and put a lot of care into their food. I have to be careful or I'll get fat because they are only a block away from work!

I'm going to New York in 6 weeks, so I stopped by the Public Library to pick up some travel books and figured this would be the perfect place to grab dinner since i was in the spirit. I'm not sure what experience some of the others with 5 star reviews had.....but I wasn't impressed at all. The people were nice and all, but a pizza restaurant should have good pizza and this just didn't fit the bill. I'm really curious how long the pizza sits out before they actually dispose of it and make more. At Ian's and Brick 3, they half make it, and throw it in the oven to refresh it and finish it off......things are different at Slice of NY. Picture yourself as a college freshman nursing a hangover and finding 2 pieces of pizza in the fridge from last night, and throwing them in the microwave 12 hours after it was made....that's about how this stuff tasted. I can deal with Ian's and Brick 3 because they probably move through pizza quickly, but based upon how dead Slice of NY is every single time I pass, I really wonder if their food is even edible/sanitary.

Pizza is kind of my thing. I love pizza by the slice, especially if it's within walking distance. Slice of NY could be a good stop for some, but unfortunately wouldn't be my first choice for flavor. I imagine that if you work down town this could be a good quick easy lunch. With a fairly large selection of pizza, I was surprised when I walked in on a week night and seeing the shop completely empty. With that, it's unfortunate that the large amount of pizza they had on hand had been sitting out for a bit. They'll warm it up for you in the pizza oven similar to some other shops. What I noticed is that they cook the pizzas completely before putting them out on display... I think this is why they looked a little over done. Ingredients - not the freshest I've had. If you're looking for a quick meal, this is a good stop. Especially since their downtown. Not to forget, the service is spot on too.

Good golly Miss Molly - this pie is sporting lots O' grease. But that's OK, cause it's gooood pepperoni-y and sausage-y type grease. For around $3.50 you get one honking huge slice of pie and a garlic knot. The pie - that's smoking awesome eh - the knot? Meh. But you know what, it's not called the Knot of NY. Nice selection of pizza on a Monday, I think maybe 6 or 7 pies? Nice crispy crust, a good flavor sauce. Everything balanced out nicely. Good cheese, great meats. The table provided pepper flakes, parm cheese (grated, again with the meh,) and Chalulah. None of which was needed on my slice. Two (huge) slices, one bottle of H2o- we're out the door under ten bucks. BAM - that's an MKE deal.

Read my updated review: I gotta say, I'm a huge fan of NYC pizza and it is really difficult to find anything similar outside of the 5 boroughs. I live in Wisconsin and the closest I've come to an NYC slice has been Slice of NY in Kenosha. Still think their crust is too thick an they use too much cheese. They have another store in Milwaukee which I'm dissapointed with...their crust is even thicker and they use waaaay too much cheese. Out of the two shops, MKE is the most inconsistent. Brooklyn boy still searching!

First off, I am in Milwaukee on business, and I decide that I couldn't have another meal at the bar/restaurant attached to my hotel. With my office right around the corner from my hotel, I have no rental car with which to explore, and I didn't feel like paying a cab driver to ferry me around until I found what I wanted. What I wanted was something with an Italian slant, like a meatball sub. So, I Yelped the local area and found SNYP. I checked out their reviews, looked over their webpage for the Milwaukee menu, found what I wanted, and confirmed it was within walking distance of my hotel. While I would usually call ahead for something like a dinner entrée or pasta, I decided I could wait for a sandwich, so away I went to get some takeout. When I got there a little after 6, the place was empty, and one guy was working behind the counter. I looked around and found no menus in the holder on the counter, and when the guy asked what I wanted, I went to confirm that they also did sandwiches. He said, no, only pizza. Great!...Wait!....What??? When I told him that their online menu showed they also had sandwiches, he rebutted that I was looking at the wrong menu, that I was looking at the Kenosha menu. (Hey, knucklehead, I checked your menu twice!). When I told him that he was wrong, that the Milwaukee menu did show other items, he just shrugged and said it was wrong and he would let someone know. Well, out the door I went, because I was certain that he would show the same exact care and concern with anything I might have ordered had I felt like a pizza would have satisfied my craving. As an out-of-towner, it's unfortunate that this was the experience that you decided to share. You guys enjoy your pizza. I went and had a very nice chorizo bouillabaisse at a place just down the street, and the wait staff was much more accommodating. And remember, you only have one chance to make a first impression, good or bad.

Got pizza the by the slice. It was great, because it's pizza, but it didn't really wow me. Normally this would be okay, except it was $11.60 for 3 slices. If I'm paying almost $4 for a slice of pizza it better be the best in town. I must say the customer service was great, which is why I gave SNYP 3 stars. The Russian woman behind the counter was super helpful as I asked many questions about my options. Overall, I rate it a 2.5. Would go here again only of I have been drinking and am craving late night food.

So far, the closest I've had to NY style pizza in Milwaukee. After living in NYC for 10 years, I can say this is close, but not perfect. The pizza tastes like NY style, and the crust is thin and chewy, but the texture isn't right. It's too rubbery?? It's not bad, just not the same as NY. Also, NY pizza is overly greasy, which might sound gross, but it's part of the experience. Also, the garlic knots were ok. A little flavorless. I added some butter and salt to make it more like a NY pizzeria. As long as I can't get true NY pizza, I'll certainly come back.

Pizza was good and so was the price. It's now 1 of my 7 yr old daughters favorite pizza places downtown. Nothing fancy but a good time with the young one.

Pizza is my weakness. Especially pizza by the slice. And since I live pretty darn close to Slice of NY, I've been watching it for a while. I was a little hesitant because it never seems busy when I pass by, but a fellow Yelper promised it was good, so I gave in and finally tried it. And it is - it's really good. Between the two of us, we had a BBQ chicken slice and a sausage and pepperoni slice, along with two garlic knots. The crust is great, and the toppings are generous. The staff member who helped us was super friendly and polite. We're glad we stopped in and we'll be back. They also offer delivery. You can order by the pie or by the slice, and the cannolis behind the counter look delicious.

Ordered a pizza and an order of three garlic knots.... Asked if they took American Express before I ordered, they stated they did. Ordered my food and handed over my Amex. Then he mentioned they actually did not accept. Also refused to give out a glass of water so they could charge for bottled water. Sat down with my food and asked the waiter if they had pizza sauce for the knots. He said he did but it was $.50. I got up and stood in line again, the same guy told me it was actually not $.50 but $1 or $1.29... I told him to forget it. The cashier was very rude about all these items and not friendly. Being nickeled and dimed with a bad attitude made me feel like I was at the DMV across the street on wells and not a restaurant. Would recommend Ians or Brick instead, both are very good.

Stopped in for a slice this afternoon. I selected Supreme and was pleasantly surprised at the abundance of flavor I was rewarded with. The veggies had a full, fresh quality to them and the slices of sausage combined with the pepperonis in all the right ways. There was a slightly above standard selection of flavor add-ons at every table, including parmesan cheese that didn't require any banging to get cheese out of. The slice was about four dollars, and since they do not accept credit cards for purchases under five dollars, I had to add a soda to get my total over the threshold. When my slice was finished being reheated, it was accompanied by a garlic knot. I didn't see anything on the menu about a combo meal and couldn't say if it's not just standard practice for them to include garlic knots with every order or if the pleasant fellow working behind the counter wanted to show his appreciation for my understanding of the credit card rule. They have WiFi but I didn't inquire as to what the password is. I did see that this establishment offers specialty slices like mac-n-cheese that are famous at other joints but my intuition told me to stick with the classics at Slice of NY and to visit those other joints when I need some adventure with my pizza. If I'd had some cash and was able to get only a slice, then I probably would have knocked this rating up to five stars. The two dollars for a fountain soda I didn't want, even if it came with a garlic knot, prevented the meal from being an outstanding value. Good place. Pleasant ambiance.

I've seen Slice of NY for a while. It sits at the corner of Wisconsin and James Lovell. I waited to see some reviews and as of today I could find nothing. Whats the deal with that? Slice is a slice joint. You can buy full pies in 14" and 18". They offer salads, sandwiches, calzones and stromboli. I went for the straight slice options. Interestingly enough the paper menu isn't up to date or wasn't fleshed out as the two options I got weren't listed. I am going to start with what i consider the weaker areas then go from there. The chicken on the pizza seems of "iffy" quality. Not sure what is being used here but it doesn't hit me like a chicken got put down this morning. I personally use the freshest ingredients when making pizzas and that might include a trip to Tower for chicken. You get garlic knots with your order. The menu states "free knot with every slice" yet I only got 1. The qualm here is that they are sitting in a basket above the pizzas but not heated or finished with your order. Imagine going to brick three only to get your knot not cooked. I ate it anyways. The texture almost demands that it crisps up with your slice. Perhaps this was overlooked by the gentleman putting pizzas in the oven? I think the prices there are fair. They are what you would expect from slice joints in the area (Brick 3, Times Square) in the $3-4 range. That's cheap eats. You can treat your tastebuds and fill up with 2 slices for under $10. Not bad. The crust was pretty good on my slices and it was nice to not get corn meal granules everywhere like at other places. I appreciated the thinness and the ability to fold while still maintaining some strength to hold up the toppings of the pizza. That is the strongest point of this slice. I'll have to go through their menu in the upcoming weeks/months. I really only had two varieties of the chicken pizza here (buffalo and chicken bacon ranch). I would like to see the chicken on the buffalo perhaps breaded and fried then put on the pizza. As it stands it was just chicken cubes with what tasted like Franks Red on it. The chicken Bacon Ranch was good. It's nice to see another slice joint pop up. I think competition is great and only benefits the consumer by giving us more options. This place is new and the service felt as such. No big waits or anything but you could tell they were finding their feet. Give it a try if you are in the area and want to switch it up from the regular downtown fare. Or perhaps you need a break from brick. If they refined the menu a bit more over time I can see them doing well. Ample seating inside and again I quite enjoyed the crust. Ok so why 3 stars? Only one can have 5 (Classic) and I think there is room for improvement here. Finally can we get a better "to go" container? I feel a lot of heat may be lost in the thin paper sleeve. A box might retain that better. Just a thought :) I'll be back

Had the pizza tonight for the first time. Based off my location in the city of Milwaukee, this will be my #1 choice for pizza.

We were in town for a couple of days for a convention. We had the pleasure for eating this delicious pizza both days. The combination this pizzeria has are amazing, Buffalo chicken , lasanga, were just a few of the 16 slices we ate that weekend! Highly recommended.
