This is a traditional south side bar with cheap drinks, colorful patrons, and good bar food. Our waitress Melanie was politely gruff but hilarious. She provided quick service with an edge which I enjoyed. Their pizza is a great thin crust and is surprisingly good. Other food is your typical bar food but definitely give their pizza a try. You will not be disappointed. The fish fry for $10 was a good deal. We were there at 8pm on a Friday and they were sold out of perch, potato pancakes and a couple of other items. We opted for the breaded cod which was flavorful and a decent portion size (3 pieces). The only downer of the meal were the parsley buttered potatoes. I admit that I can't stand canned potatoes and these were pulled straight out a can so stick with the fries. The rye bread they served had a salty crust and the coleslaw was average. Remember that this is a south side hangout so leave any pretentious attitude at the door. Hang out with the regulars...have a shot and a beer and you will feel at home.

So, for the past 2 and a half years, I've lived and worked in Tokyo. I just moved back to Milwaukee last week, and I consider this place a perfect reinitiation into Milwaukee life! From the get go, the staff is friendly without being fake. Really down to earth. Even though they look quite busy, they take time to help each customer out. We even walked out at the same time as a waitress who was finishing her shift, and she said hello to all the regulars as she was leaving! Next, the food. We got their fish fry: an order of the beer-battered cod with a side of potato pancakes and an order of breaded perch with parsley boiled potatoes. While both were phenomenal, I'd definitely recommend the perch. Absolutely delicious and beautiful texture. The atmosphere was also super Milwaukee. It felt like being in your great aunt's basement (in the best way possible!). The signs and decorations really made me feel like I was back home. If you want a real Milwaukee experience, check out Scotty's!!!

Great place, great pizza. Old neighborhood bar hangout for locals. Orders are sloooooow so you have to be prepared to wait and have a couple'a beers before your meal. But, the pizza is worth the wait! Super great thin-crust style with a good layer of cheese (not overly cheesy). Avoid the canned mushrooms and you can't go wrong! Service is not overly attentive - they're friendly and they'll do what they can to get you what you need. If you're lucky to drop in during one of the nights they have entertainment you'll be treated to a 3 piece "band" with a drum machine doing lots of cover songs that the old folks can clap along to. Otherwise there's a jukebox to annoy the locals with. Counting all of the grammar problems on the menu makes for a fun game while you wait!

Amazing happy hour specials for drinks and they have 3 different happy hours(early bird, after work and late night) monday-friday. Great place to stop by after work for a few. Daily specials as well. Pizza is freakin great so give it a try! Breaded mushrooms were pretty tasty as well. A chill local place in the st.francis/bay view area.

I went to Scotty's to get a burger with my grandparents. We go for fish fry there often and thought we'd just stop for lunch. The first time my burger comes out it comes with raw onions when I ordered fried - also all my toppings on it when I asked for them on the side. Then it comes back a second time with American cheese when I asked for Swiss. - toppings still on top. I took the burger back myself because the waitress rarely checked on us and it seemed as though I was being a burden to the cook. I received no apology. When the waitress came back and asked me where my food was, I told her what happened and I said I took it back. She seemed frustrated and a few minutes later brought my burger back out. When it came back a third time, you could tell the American cheese was just scraped off and the Swiss was added on top - all the toppings were still not on the side. I told her, but at this point I was so frustrated and told her I would just eat it because I was hungry and tired of waiting. When we got our check we still did not receive an apology. I am disgusted that my order was wrong three times meaning the same food was handled four. Horrible service and I will not be returning.

Pizza sauce is deeelish! The sausage and pepperoni is our fam fav. Surely gotta try the breaded cauliflower. After 6 large pizza purchases you get one free. It's in essence a neighborhood bar with old school patrons. Don't be intimidated to walk past to get your pick up order. Dining on for Friday night perch fry is good too.

This is a historic building and used to be among many other things, a whore house. So, it has that going for it. The place is clean enough and has a surprising amount of seating. The decor is hilarious. It has a lot of classic cars photo-shopped into completely inappropriate places and situations. One picture has a classic car placed inside a burning building as an apparent nod to firefighters. Another has "The Mystery Van" on a beach in Hawaii. It's silly inside and poorly lit. The wait staff cared just enough to keep their jobs and not be hated by the customers. The drink refills were a little slow and my waitress could have cared less about my experience. They make most of the food from scratch and they have good prices. The food is far better than a chain restaurant. The beer I ordered was well priced and fresh. They get plenty of turn-around on booze. The pizza is why you'd go to Scotty's. The toppings, cheese, and sauce all rate in the B- to C+ category. The crust is exceptional. It was the right mix of chewy inside to a beautiful crisp on the outside. It made the entire pizza. If you combine everything that makes their pizza you have a solid "B". I know you can do better than a "B" rated pizza. But, it's different in a good way, the pizza and the establishment. Take into consideration the countless number of different pizza joints that you've eaten at. It really is a countless number. Even after you find the perfect place you still eat inferior pizza. It's nice to try something different and eat somewhere else. Scotty's is far better than average and it's a classic "south side" Milwaukee experience.

We had the large pizza, cheese, sausage & mushrooms(canned). We loved the crispy thin crust, but the sauce was skimpy & the cheese was oily. We didn't care for it at all!

It was so good! We ordered for pick up so did not eat in the bar but I was so pleased and surprised how good it was! Just enough spice and salt and sauce and cheese. So delish. Oh, btw we didn't get mushrooms on pizza because they are canned:('all the other toppings were good.

I heard that the pizza was good, so I stopped in and placed a TO GO order. It was a late Friday afternoon, so of course, the bar was full with the usual 60+ aged crowd. Ordered a quick can of beer and requested a menu. The bartender was kind of a crusty old fellow and seemed impatient. After checking out the menu and deciding on the pizza, I asked to place the order. The bartender got the waitress to come over and she advised that she would return shortly to take my order. That never happened. I waited for 30 minutes to place that TO GO order, and finally just paid for my beer and walked. No thanks...

Apparently, if you aren't a regular/employee off the clock and no one knows your name, you can forget getting served here! My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday to order a late dinner @ 7:56pm, sat until 8:32pm with little service. (I know this due to the digital clock above the bar) One person, bartender I think, came to give us a beer. I saw @ least one other person running food and taking orders at the bar, but it seems she only thought the regulars needed/wanted food and service. Bartender asked everyone at the bar whose name she knew what they were drinking. Waitress asked everyone whose name she knew if they were hungry. After sitting through half beers worth of straight avoidance of us, we decided to walk the F out. That's it for you Scotty's. It's too bad we live down the block cuz the convenience would have been nice.

I used to LOVE going to Scotty's for pizza and fish but after last night--NEVER AGAIN!! I was served a half eaten potato pancake under my fish and the two girls working were less than accommodating. They were rude and downright mean. They never apologized and basically told me that I was wrong. I will never eat here ever again. It's a shame how two employees can ruin a business. I have had GREAT service from Ruth and many others at Scotty's......really, I could have overlooked the (insanely gross) half eaten food if it would have been taken care of in a different way. My advice is to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!

It is a local bar and it serves local bar food. There has been some of the same people warming the same stools for decades. So keep that in mind when you get there. That being said it is good bar food and lately its gotten better. The fish fry this lent has been delicious, dare I say better than Packing House lately. The rye bread and coleslaw they serve with the fish fry I could have just eaten as a meal alone. And we've always liked their thin crust pizza and bombers. The service is slow but I either order ahead or prepare to sit back, relax, and drink a few while waiting. And the last few times I've been there the service has even gotten better. My husband's family is from the neighborhood and he even worked there when he was younger. So they know that it has had it's ups and downs over the decades as far as service and food is concerned. I think now it's definitely on an up and I hope they stay that way for awhile.

Like Ned's pizza, but the sauce is a little too sweet? This may be your answer. This neighborhood bar has much better than average pizza, and a convenient location (if you live near me). I haven't tried the rest of the menu but I hear it is even better.
