The food was excellent and the service was even better. Crystal, our waitress, needs to teach a class on how to be a server. She brought out napkins without asking and promptly cleared all finished plates. She was super sweet, and was a fantastic server. I said to my husband numerous times during our visit, "this is my new favorite". My only regret is we drove past O'Lydia's for years and said, "We should try it". I wish we'd become customers sooner. I can't wait to try their brunch.

My favorite part about O'Lydia's is almost embarrassing. I love sitting in their outdoor area, enjoying a cider or a beer, and having a train go past right above my head. AWESOME. I'm a boring white girl from the suburbs, so whenever I get the chance to feel a little gritty or industrial, the experience goes right to my sheltered, romantic heart. Have you ever been to one of those Irish bar/restaurants where the whole Irish experience is so contrived you feel like you're about to choke on leprechaun turds and rancid corned beef? Well, that's not how the people at O'Lydia's like to do things. It's kinda like they've acknowledged the fact that, yes, it's an Americanized concept of an Irish bar, and, yes, maybe it isn't truly authentic in the truly true Irish experience (how the hell should I know otherwise? the closest I've ever been to Ireland is drunkenly peeking up some dude's kilt at Irishfest); however, O'Lydia's blows "Americanized Irish bar" out of the water. Bangers and mash? Check. Rueben sandwich? Check. Shepherd's pie? STOP. BACK UP THE TRAIN. Shepherd's pie at O'Lydia's. Me oh my oh me oh myyyyy. First of all: No instant mashed potatoes out of a stale cardboard box. No fatty, grizzled meat shreds of unknown provenance. NO plagued peas and carrots out of a can from the 1990s. (Can you tell my past experiences with Shepherd's pie have left much to be desired?) This meat pie is so fresh, so savory, so unlike the sludge I've had elsewhere. The Shepherd's pie at O'Lydia's is what the Almighty Lord's Irish gram-gram used to make him back before the stock market crashed in Heaventownlandplace -- THAT is how good O'Lydia's Shepherd's pie is. One afternoon I did shots of the gravy and couldn't have cared less about how wacko it looked. If you're a crazy person and don't eat red meat, or, like me, enjoy terrorizing a different species every once in a while, order the turkey melt. Just DON'T forget to order a side of their aioli 'cuz that sammich truly isn't the same with out it as an addition. Of the half-dozen times I've found myself at O'Lydia's, no doubt wondering what the eff a blarney stone is when I should be deciding on my next drink, the service has only ever sagged during one visit. And just barely. So who cares! Otherwise, the servers and bartenders are always immensely helpful, pleasant, and -- most importantly -- chill. The last time I visited this pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (Ugh, okay, I'm done punning now), I noticed that employee uniforms seem nonexistent. A la, they wear whatever they want? If so, I wager this concession from the owner must definitely make the staff more comfortable while they work. And that has a huge impact on their (FANTASTIC!) performance. It didn't take me long at all to fall in love with O'Lydia's. A year or two ago I found myself seated in the bar area of O'Lydia's on one of the most UNBELIEVABLY terrible days of my adult life. I must've looked like a sad, hot mess because our psychic savant server took one look at me and offered a free shot of anything I wanted. Booze is the way to my heart, apparently.

Friendly bartenders, a stellar patio, homemade potato chips, AND it's a hop + skip + jump from where we practice. New after-derby Maiden hang-out? Methinks so... Excited to try the food at some point. Pub grub! Seems a great spot to catch a game, hang on the patio in the summertime, or just relax with friends over a beer. I like!

We've been back since my initial review, and lunch is the time to go. Marcia is top notch and, although our visits are sporadic, she remembered us! Had the chorizo potato soup, freakin' delish! If they have it when you go, I implore you, beseech you, even, to give it a whirl. Hearty and satisfying. Cod fish fry was my lunch of choice accompanied by potato pancakes and slaw. The breading is light and doesn't deter from the fish, which is moist and flaky, oh so fresh! The cole slaw is refreshing and a perfect accompaniment. I prefer the potato pancakes over the house fries or in house made chips. I also like to pair my lunch with an ale, usually the monthly special, as I like to broaden my horizons. O'Lydia's, we'll be back for more, don't you worry! And YOU, kind reader, get your tail over there and check it out!

Great fish fry. Cold beers. Attentive service. The cook came up to our table to ask how we enjoyed everything. Oh - and you can NOT beat the prices, especially sandwiched between the Third and Fifth Wards. Fish fry and two IPAs came to $14. Will definitely be back!

Fish Fry Review Only: Our last stop on the Lent 2012 Fish Fry Tour takes us to O'Lydias on Good Friday. There is plenty of street parking and a shared lot with Central Bark across the street. They do have a large bar area with a few tables. The restaurant area has plenty of tables and booths. There is also a beer garden. Service was great. Greeted almost immediately and drinks in under 5 minutes since we walked in the door. They also have 2 for 1 appetizers when you check in on Foursquare - wings, bruschetta, chicken strips, nachos, onion rings, steak strips, irish soaker, reuben dip, reuben rolls, and an assortment of sliders. Price for appetizers ranges from $4.95 to $14.50 O'Lydias offers the following for their Fry: * 2 piece Cod: $7.95 * 3 piece Cod: $9.75 * 4 piece Cod: $11.55 * All You Can Eat Cod: $12.95 * Perch Fry: $10.95 * Panko Crusted Bluegill: $8.95 * Combo Fry - 3 battered shrimp, 2 perch, 2 bluegill, and 1 cod: $13.95 Each fry is lightly breaded with your choice of potato (fries, baked, mashed, and pancake with apple sauce), coleslaw, and rye bread. I ordered the Combo Fry and the rest of the party either had the 2 or 3 piece cod. The potato pancake were AMAZING and probably some of the best I have eaten - Savoy you have a challenger. It was one large cake that was browned on each side and not dried out. I would guess made to order. Cole slaw was tasty and of the creamy kind which I love. Each piece of fish had a nice light breading on it which highlighted the taste of the fish. The pieces of Cod were a decent size but if you want to get full, I would recommend at least the 4 piece cod. The cod, perch, shrimp, and bluegill were some of the best I have this season. I did ask for more pieces of Cod because the combo didn't fill me up. The only charged me $3 for the extra 2 pieces. So if you are on the South Side of town or near the 3rd Ward and looking for a Fry, I would recommend this hidden gem...did I mention that the Pedal Tavern starts here? Combo Fry - 4 1/2 stars out of 5 Cod - 4 1/2 stars out of 5

Loved this place. The wait staff gave us the back room for a business dinner. They were very organized and calm about a huge order. Servers did great! Food was excellent. But don't expect healthy faire. I had the portabella burger and it wss excellent. Great job for a huge bump of imsurace

Perhaps my expectations for this place were too high... or perhaps I should have realized this is mostly a bar and subsequently serves bar (or bar quality) food, regardless overall I was fairly disappointed. My husband and I came in with two out of town friends on a Friday night- despite it being not busy, our waitress took her time coming over to our table. Strike one. The menu is really quite extensive and reasonably priced- I'm a sucker for a good bargain- however I do require the food to be good. I ordered the meatloaf, our friends both got ribs and my husband got the friday fish fry. All of our food except for the fish (which was likely hot out of the fryer) was lukewarm. Strike two. The portions were huge and the salad that we were given as part of the "entree" was decent sized (and it was nice that it had a few non iceburg lettuce veggies in it), however quantity does not make up for quality in my book. The meatloaf and mashed potatoes were extremely bland- and although there was a "guinness gravy" on the side, it too could have done with a bit more salt, and it wasn't nearly enough to cover the very bland meat. My husband said the fish was ok- nothing to write home about, esp. when you can find a good fish fry in a ton of places on a Friday night in Milwaukee. Strike three. When there are so many options for really good food in Milwaukee, and specifically the Third Ward, it makes it difficult to want to choose to come back here.

I've been here a couple of times. I think I like this place. It's got decently priced things, and decently nice people. It has shuttle service, and it has a patio. The parking is free and plentiful, and it's close to a bunch of other things on 2nd street. You're A-OK in my book, O'Lydia's. Keep it up.

O'Lydias! I can't believe it took me so long to venture here. Trivia, we play trivia at O'Lydias. Service is great, beer selection isn't great, but it suffices, and the food is pretty good as well. The buffalo garlic wings are legen..... wait for it.... dary! Love those things, FLAVOR. EXPLOSION. Or garlic, if you like or love garlic, you will love these. But if you don't, then you probably shouldn't order them. Either way, can't wait for the patio in the summer, and hopefully catch some Brewers games their too.

Casual corner bar restaurant. Very friendly bartenders and waitress. Stopped in for a burger while out on the Harley and what a burger we had. It was a Thursday and they have a large 1/2 cheese burger with fries or chips or mashed for $4.95. Fantastic burger and I will for sure be here to cure a hangover with a greasy burger this summer. Not that it happens often. It was also $2 Miller lite tap night so I was in. Well worth a try for a burger kind of night.

Stopped for Sunday brunch, Great eggs, toast, hash browns and.......Canadian Bacon.....Yum, Sourdough toast and a big spicy Bloody Mary, Wash that all down with a I.P.A. and stick a fork in me!(I'm done) Got a bonus jelly shot when the Packers scored. We'll be doing brunch at O'Lydia's again soon.

Okay. I've been suggesting this place to my boyfriend ever since it switched over from... whatever it used to be...?? I guess maybe that should have been a sign, because I remember being very underwhelmed with my experience at the former restaurant. Maybe this place has some bad juju or something. Anyway, so Boyfriend was craving a burger, and was feeling very specific about the type of burger he wanted - not AJ Bombers (too thin), not Oscar's (too thick), not Sobelman's (too... I don't even know). He just wanted a thinnish bar burger that wasn't too heavy, which surprisingly is a hard thing to find round our side of MKE. And I wasn't particularly hungry. So we decided to try out O' Lydia's, at long last. The atmosphere of the bar area reminded me of the middle-of-the-road bars from my hometown up nort. It was appropriately populated, with a middle-aged couple making out on the bar stools (The. Whole. Time.), and a disinterested waitress who could barely stand at our table long enough to hand us menus. I was so put off by her service that it really shaped the way the rest of my experience went. Every time she stopped by our table (not very often), I felt like she was zipping away, calling to us over her shoulder as she went to work on something else. She never came back to refill my water, no matter how close to edge of the table I place the glass full of dry cubes. MAJOR NEGATIVE POINTS. I guess I wouldn't have felt so offended about that if she hadn't been standing about five feet away, chatting up the cook because she had nothing else to do. I guess on the plus side, the salad I ordered was way above my expectations, a huge, mounding bowl of every vegetable you could possibly imagine, plus a whole chicken breast with some pretty good seasoning on top. Boyfriend's burger and hand-cut fries were up to par, I suppose, and we left feeling sated. But that service... just so off-putting. I really don't think I'll make my way back here, since there are so many other places that serve decent burgers, fries, and salads in Walker's Point, where I probably would feel welcomed. And hydrated.

I've hesitated to go into the place on several occasions and I don't know why. This is a great little place with great servers, tasty food and a pretty solid menu. Try to Cuban sandwich and their onion rings. I'll definitely be stopping at this place again.

I've been here for a couple Thursday nights.....and for what its worth, there isn't a better deal in town than the 2.95 half pound burger. Good quality burger, made almost any way you want it, for $3? You can't really beat it. I've had better burgers here for $3 than I've had at Stack'd for $13. Our waitress was a bit slow, and she brought me fries instead of chips like I asked for.....but for the price, you can't beat this deal.

Best burgers in Milwaukee. Best food specials in Milwaukee. Worth a drive just for them. Patio is nice on summer days. Good selection of tappers that rotate.

  • Bing K.

Really cool local spot with great food. Our waitress was fantastic. I ordered the Turkey Melt with Bacon with homemade chips. Our waitress came out with fries instead of chips and before I could even point out that my order was incorrect she came out with an order of chips and said the fries were on the house. Really appreciated that. It looks small from the outside but there's a surprising number of tables inside.

This place is great. Fun bartenders, quiet locals, good drinks/specials. Didn't have food. Do the Yelp Check-in for either BOGO Cocktail or 50% off an appetizer. On Sundays their bloody marys are $5 and they allow the BOGO deal with them! And they come with meat sticks and other accoutrements. Great beer selection. A couple TVs. I'll be back!

There aren't very many 35 cent wing nights anymore but O'Lydia's does! The wings were pretty good....Deep fried, grilled & tossed in sauce. They don't advertise their wing sauces but they have a few different kinds. I had the honey mustard and hot habanero! And the hot habanero is hot but nasty! Service was good even on their wing night and a brewer game going on.

  • Michael S.

Fun fun spot. Rick and Michelle are awesome bartenders. One dollar PBR so you cant go wrong. The hangover burger is killer. The wings are some of the best in the city. Bar dice is fun there. Good music.

Great Burgers, friendly staff, sports/ festival shuttle service, and willing to sponsor sports leagues... can't go wrong with this corner bar!

  • Sarah H.

Surprisingly, a great place to stop in and hang at the bar or outside on the patio. The super friendly bartender (I think he said he was the owner's son) gave us some stellar service. We also got to use the 1/2 off appetizer check in offer - score! Tried: wings: very good, but slightly large (aka almost a drumstick) reuben rolls: amaze balls inside, outside could have been crispier I think they also still offer the shuttle service to and from Marquette BBall/Bucks games which rocks. The Ped-a-Tavern seems to start here as well, so be ready for some rowdy-s if you arrive on the later side.

Was there before Irish Fest. Not that busy and waited 7 minutes for a Bloody Mary that was filled with crazy things, and way too much ice ( we did not understand it). Then ordered breakfast - I had a salad and my husband had 2 eggs w/ corn beef hash. That too, took over 20 minutes and it was not corn beef hash - it was just hash browns. The waitress then brought us 2 more Bloody Mary's after she misunderstood our order - we wanted the beer chasers that went along w/ the Bloody Mary's. When the bill came she charged us for the 2 Bloody Mary's that we did not drink - it took her another 5-7 minutes to get the bill straight and when she did she did not give us back the correct amount. We live 1 mile away and will never ever return to Lydia's - unless Lydia straightens out her workers.

  • Maurene G.

My husband brought home their shepherd's pie for me one night and I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't comparing it to other pies; just the fact that he found some in Milwaukee and it tasted good. Since then we've had it a few more times but the quality has varied. The last time mine was ok, tender but dry. Then I noticed that his seemed to be brimming with gravy. The bread that comes with it always seems stale or perhaps just left on Warm for too long. All in all it's a good dish but you never know if it's going to be really good or just okay.

  • K M.

This place rocks...best bartender ever .....when she is being nice ! Food is good, people are friendly and the drink specials make going out a bit more affordable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is just looking for a down to earth bar with good food and friendly staff. AND...as an added bonus, the live music on the weekends is well selected !

Wow just not up to the standards i was use to when this place was Slim's. The service was still excellent. The food was ok. the steak, part of the steak and shrimp tasted a little freezer burned and another friend got the same thing and said the same. nice location and a good deck if the trains aren't coming by. Won't go back probably.

  • Nicole E.

I came in there with a group of people after a pedal tavern. I have been in the bar a few times and I have never received wonderful service or tasted anything spectacular but it's a corner bar so my expectations weren't so high. Regardless, I took my group there because it was convenient. There was a woman behind the bar who was a straight up snob, who happened to be the owner of this place. She was angry, rude, and clearly wished she was somewhere else. Needless to say, I took my whole group somewhere else because we all felt that place did not deserve our money. Someone else will take over this place in a few years. Maybe then she will realize how important it is to speak with patrons with respect and a little smile.

  • Melanie B.

Not to worry Slim-fans, it is basically the same place/same vibe. I went with a friend the other night just because I loved Slims and wanted to know what they had done to the place. The place was PACKED when we walked in at 5:00pm but that is because the Pedal Tavern (the bike that people drink on and ride around to various bars) was picking people up there however O'Lydia's is doing very well based on how packed the bar and dining room was. The food is good---there is not much in the way of healthy options- but hey--it is is pub. I got the Veggie Sandwich which was grilled with homemade potato chips! YUM! I asked for a Blue Cheese dipping sauce and the chips were definitely the highlight :) Good beers on tap! Fun place! Happy the new owners just "cleaned" up the place but mainly left everything else that was great about Slims, the same.

Good location not far from downtown, Summerfest, the Lake, a neighborhood bar that attracts fans from farther away. Early evening on a Friday night, the average age is pushing middle age or more, but entire families come here for the tasty fish fry, friendly service, casual atmosphere. Great selection of beers on tap it's a good place to bring good friends to watch a baseball game on television. Given it's location, they should have more bicycle parking options though. I had to use a street sign post.

There is nothing better than being able to walk into a bar and feel welcome anytime. From being a regular to a new patron they greet and treat everyone as if they are home. The bartenders are awesome especially Rick, Ashley, and Ashley. Food is fantastic. Even ordering a salad comes out as a great choice. They offer trivia every Wednesday with a seasonal league. I am proud to say I am a regular here and hope to continue to be.

    (5)
  • Nicholas H.

I've been a casual regular here for a couple of months now. The staff is fun, the wings are great, and the beer is cold. They have awesome food and drink specials every single day. What more can you ask from a corner Irish pub?

Recently on my travels I took a weekend adventure to the great state of Wisconsin. I was excited for Beer, Cheese, and of course my favorite Dairy cows. Yes I wanted to fulfull all of the sterotypes of the great dairy state. I did just that and ended my weekend with a nice dinner at a local place. As you will read O Lydia's has awesome reviews. So my friend and I decided to take a stop. We wanted to enjoy the nice evening and sat outside on the patio. A good start to the meal with a spottled cow beer on tap with nachos on their homemade chips. Excellent start! The food was good but our conversation was interupted for about 20 mins by a nice train that went by right above the patio. Just a food for thought as you choose where you are going. Overall my stomach left happy after a complete Wisconsin experience! Enjoy!

It's tough to park but worth the trouble. The patio is great in summer and there's plenty of room in the back. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The beer selection is good and so is the food. Whether it's the Friday fish fry or a classic reuben, it's good. The prices are reasonable.

I encourage people to go here. When you walk in you are greeted right away. I've always sat at the bar because I've gone down to watch a game on one of the many TVs. I've always been very pleased with the food. The wings are fried and finished on a grill. The sauces are original and very flavorful. My personal favorite is the Buffalo Garlic. It could be more spicy since it has buffalo in the name, but the taste is great. As is the honey mustard. The Reuben Dip is very good. It is however missing something and I can't quite put my finger on it. That doesn't stop me from ordering it though. Try the garlic mashed potatoes as well. Wednesday night at around 8 they have trivia. Three rounds. The more people they have playing, the more prizes are offered. All in all, a fun atmosphere and very good food.

I stopped in because I was starving and it's across the street from my apartment. It's a beautiful bar and the music wasn't too loud. Bartender came right away, took my drink order and brought me a menu. Ordered the onion rings and the Shepherd's Pie. Onion rings came right away, and Shepherd's Pie came just as I was finishing them. Food was delicious, and the service was attentive. Shepherd's Pie is a really good deal, it's twice the size of the Shepherd's Pie at County Clare, and almost half the price. I couldn't finish it, even though it was delicious, it was very filling. The owner stopped by a few times to see how everything was, and let me know that they have $2 1/2 pound burgers on Thursday nights, I'll definitely be back for that. I also want to try their Sunday brunch. When it comes to Irish pubs, I'm very spoiled because I used to live two doors down from County Clare, but O'Lydia's is definitely a great alternative. I had an appetizer, entree and two beers and my tab was $25 after a generous tip. This is a great value without sacrificing quality, and I'll definitely be back with friends.

While I first started going here when it was Slim's, the only obvious change has been the name, and that's a good thing. Definitely a place I can relax at and have a cold beer while I peruse the menu. I've had the perch, a salad, wings, 1/2 lb burgers, fries, shepard's pie and all have been top notch "bar food". The kitchen is right next to the bar so you can watch the cook prepare you meal. I am sad they got rid of the AYCE crab legs, but the daily specials make up for it.

One of my favorites! I've lived across 1st street from this place for 3 years now, and leaving O'Lydias is probably going to be one of the hardest parts about moving someday. The parking is great, the staff is wonderful, the patio is amazing in the warmer months and they offer shuttles to big events like Summerfest, the St. Patty's day parade, etc! Because I live so close my husband and I go here probably more than we should but I have never been disappointed. I'm obsessed with the reuben rolls... I've had them at other places (Hooligan's being one of them) and they sucked in comparison. They have food specials every week night; the wings are great, the burgers are delish and they always have a great variety of soup offered everyday! And the most important aspect for any bar: the drinks. They have awesome specials for beer drinkers. I unfortunately don't like beer but have always been pleased with how generously they have made my cocktails. This place is great! My only request for them would be to start up the all you can eat crab legs like Slim's had... Love it here!

    (5)
  • Candice O.

Great local pub with high quality food. You must stop in for the all you can eat crab on tuesdays and saturdays - best value in town. Staff are friendly and the soups are fantastic!

  • Janet D.

Fabulous old bar with lots of history behind it. Food is always good and people are very nice. Large free parking lot across the street. Free shuttle to Summerfest and sporting events makes getting to and from downtown spots really easy. Nightly specials are a great value too! Outdoor patio butts right up to the railroad tracks, making for an interesting experience, that's for sure. If you're looking for a casual place that serves good drinks and real Milwaukee food, look no further than O'Lydias!

Great local bar. Reuben rolls will change your life. Great wait staff. Particularly fun on Wed. trivia nites.

  • Nathan K.

Disappointed in the quality of good. Friendly staff, but moderate service. With so many good bars with food in the area, probably won't be coming back. They do have a nice outdoor area, and if that's what you're looking for, then it's maybe a 3 star.

    (2)
  • Phil K.

They have the best ribs (sat special) I've ever had! Bar is old school wood and has some charm. The patio looks pretty sweet, but it was too cold to sit out there on the day we went... look forward to checking it out this summer!

I will admit I was a little nervous when Slim of Slim McGinn fame sold this place to Linda Sackett. I had been going to McGinn's for longer than I care to admit. I had previously stopped in for drinks and finally tried the food last night. The beer list is heavy on Irish beers which should be expected at an Irish Pub. They have Hacker Pschorr and Stella if you are not an Irish fan. Make sure you check in on Yelp and you get a two for one drink or half off on an appetizer. My companions and I decided to get the Mozzarella rolls, which is cheese wrapped in wonton pastry. I have had these at other places and it's usually a disappointment as the wonton turns into cardboard. But not at O'Lydia's! The cheese and wonton blended perfectly and the marinara side was perfect. I ordered a burger and was pleasantly surprised. It was done perfectly medium. I only had mushrooms on it and the flavor was great. This was easily the best burger I have had in a Milwaukee bar. Our server, who I am pretty sure was named Jillian was attentive and cordial. O'Lydia's has specials every night. I know I will be back on a Monday for AYCE tacos for $4.50 and of course I must try the Friday fish fry. I have found my new stop before any Bradley Center events. Less hassle and much better food than the downtown spots.

Sounds weird but I had the BBQ RIBS at O'Lydia's Irish Pub. Pretty good, no smoke taste but the cut of ribs was good and the sauce was tasty. The service is really why I'm rating 4 stars, super friendly, prompt and fun to be around!

An excellent spot for a beer and good company. I'm not mission to try every wing in town, and theirs does not leave anything lacking. The wings are very meaty and the sauces change from time to time. I have also heard good things about their rueben sandwich. Decent bar specials when I was there ($3 Sierra Nevada Drafts). Will definatley go back to sample the rest of the menu. They have a nice patio / outdoor enclosed area for large groups. Last time I was there, I think an entire woman's soccer team walked in the door and could sit together.

Great for brunch! The patio is awesome, but it is loud if a train goes past (I had no idea there were even tracks up there). They have specials on bloody marys ($7) which have amazing garnish, as well as other brunchy drinks like mimosas and screwdrivers. I had the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs. It was good... shredded corned beef and hash browns (rather than the American potato - potato chunks)... and a large portion. It also came with a side of fresh fruit. The breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich both looked amazing and were both huge - they received rave reviews from members of my group. O'Lydia's is able to accommodate a large group, so don't hesitate to make reservations. Our table was fairly large (15 or so people) and I think our server did a decent job handling a bunch of rowdie cheerleaders!

I love this place. Staff is great. Still strong with 4 stars. I always get the BLT, add avo, and bacon. side salad with balsamic. Peeber (PBR)

Whether you like Irish pubs or not this place is definitely one to try. Especially if wings are your thing. I was pleasantly and enthusiastically surprised to find awesome wings and sauces at this place. Delicious and crispy with choices from savory to spicy, these little chickies have never disappointed. Wash it down with their tasty Bloody Mary and you have a winner Sunday brunch. And of course if you want a Guinness have that as a chaser to wash it all down.

I came here for packers game and their (Randall) Cobb salad is HUGE. So. Much. Bacon. Also they throw a free spread of sloppy joes at halftime!!!! But their food for money is very good. The all you can eat cod is delicious- slaw, bread, fries, and a nice light batter on the fish. Yup. Plus 3 buck drafts before 6!!! Ask for Amanda, great server, cute blonde ;-)

Weebles wobble but they don't fall down! Great place to come before and after Summerfest. They have a free shuttle that drops you right by the amphitheater so we used it for all of our main stage shows. The drivers are nice, the price is right, and the location is easy to get in and out of. Now for the bar and pub... They are pretty good. I went with the wings due to a Wednesday wing special and my wife tried a turkey club. The wings were large but the sauces weren't wonderful. They also upcharge for ranch and blue cheese. The sandwich was good and the fries were great. Service was wonderful. Combine great location, free shuttle, good food, and great happy hour prices to create a recipe for success!

Great specials all week long! All you care to eat Tacos on Monday. A great value for anyone that is really hungry. They have a great Fish Fry on Fridays. Try the Blue Gill it is awesome. They open at 10 AM for Brunch for the weekend. Solid omelets and the Eggs Benedict is always done perfect. The hollandaise sauce is always on the mark. Good food, nothing fancy but paired with great friendly service this is a must for anyone's rotation of restaurants.

25% off food items on Tuesday!! I'm going to be picky and say this: Putting O' in front of something does not make it Irish. This place is not an Irish pub, not by a long shot. Okay, so I would love to give this place 2.5 stars, but that's not an option. It's weird. There's a patio, a diner section, a bar section, and an upstairs (or at least I saw stairs). There's at least three different entrances to the place which could be confusing. The food was okay. I had the fried chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun with a salad du jour. The salad was huge, fresh, delish. The bun was also very good (who can go wrong with a pretzel bun?). The chicken itself had potential. The breading was not terribly thick, almost like a rub, but the poor chicken was fried within an inch of its life. It was dry. The bacon was unnecessary (I realize this could get me run out of Milwaukee, but it's true!) I liked the spicy mayo but there wasn't enough on it to counteract the dry chicken. My husband had the Irish dip. The ribeye was chewy, gamey, and very fatty. The coleslaw was made with Dijon which would make it excellent to put on sandwiches but as a stand alone coleslaw, it was just odd. The bartender was great. Our waitress was very good until it came time for the check. Do people think you're going to go up to the bar and order more stuff while waiting? Is that why they take forever to give your check? They're hoping you order more food and drink? Anyway, in their defense, we were told the burgers were awesome and we didn't order burgers. The 25% off on Tuesdays and the 2$ domestic bottles will ensure we go back and hopefully I can give more stars. ETA: This seems like it could be a great local/townie pub. And if you like vodka drinks, their Irish Salty Hound is fabulous.

A great place to come and just relax i think. they have a friendly staff with great food. Got to love their nachos and wings. Their wings are grilled then fried and the wings size are pretty big. Pretty good selection of beers. I like wednesday nights since they have trivia and the special is .50 cent wings. I have to stop in there on a monday night when they have all you cant eat tacos for $6. Also, they have a decent patio seating area which is great during the summer.

I love this place for an afternoon stop for lunch. Went to O'Lydia's with a friend on a sunny weekday afternoon and truly enjoyed myself. We sat at the bar, and my friend ordered a salad while I enjoyed a Guiness. We sat for about an hour and chatted, and the bartender was quirky and sweet and an excellent hostess. The salad was excellent, and well presented - AND when I checked in with my phone through Yelp they honored the buy one drink get the 2nd drink half off that was being offered. All I did was show the bartender my phone and she hooked us up immediately. I definitely dig the vibe over at O'Lydia's and think many more lunch dates here are in the works.

Nice people, good beer list, decent fish fry, solid mozz sticks. How can a Wisconsin girl not like this? It's big enough to handle a crowd yet always feels cozy. Nice patio space! I've had a consistently positive experience each time I've stopped in. Have yet to try their brunch, it's definitely on my to-do list!

I've dined at O'Lydia's a few times now, and I've not had a bad meal there. I think my first visit was on their $2 1/2 pound burger night (it's $2.95 now) with a group and enjoyed it. Not one of the best burgers in town, but definitely one of the best values in town. Monday nights feature AUCE tacos for $4.95 and special prices on margaritas. Again, not the quality of a walker's point Mexican joint, but their ground beef tacos have decent flavor and come with fresh pico. Again, a really good value! Recently I stopped in for a Fish Fry. I started with a bowl of clam chowder which really hit the spot on a chilly and rainy day. The chowder was hearty and delicious. The fish was hand breaded, as opposed to beer-battered, which made me happy because I prefer hand-breaded. The breading had some seasoning that didn't wow me, but was still good enough that I enjoyed my fish without adding tarter sauce. A little squeeze of lemon was perfect. More importantly, the fish was cooked perfectly! Very white and flaky inside as a properly cooked fish should be. There was also no sign of grease on the fish. I couldn't believe these filets were deep-fried (magic fryer?)! But that's not all. They also give you the option of homemade potato pancakes for your fish fry. These had a nice texture and good flavor. There are several options for fish and different options for platter size on the cod fry. Four pieces with potato, cole slaw and rye bread is only $11.55. There's that "value" word again. O'Lydia's is one of my favorites for pub food. With hand-breaded fish and homemade potato pancakes, O'Lydia's will also be on my short list of places I'll return to for fish fry. O'Lydia's also frequently features live music and offers a weekend brunch menu. As a bonus, you'll probably see Lydia, herself, there. Her friendly face has been visible and working to help the staff where needed on each of my trips.

There's a lot to like about this corner bar. I've only discovered it recently but now I keep finding my way back. Service is friendly in that sort of razzy familiar way. Waitresses and bartenders do more than just their job--they'll take a few minutes to chat, tell a joke, or maybe give you a hard time if you deserve it. I like a place that let's me know they're happy I stopped in. Cheap beers ($1 retros) during happy hour but it ends kind of early (6PM). No fear, they usually have a serviceable beer-of-the-month on special after happy hour. They also have a recurring weekly schedule of food deals to draw you in on whatever days match your tastes. Taco Mondays (all you can eat for $4.95) are a nice start to the work week for me and get me through until I need a little bump on 1/2 lb. burger Thursdays ($2.95)! Neat place and a nice change-up from the common downtown happy hours. Check it out!

O'Lydias was O'K. We came in here on Xmas eve cause everything else was closed. The space is kind of cool, looks like a decent bar, they've got the usual tacky shit that a dive bar has, like that dumb touchscreen video game that sits atop the bar, and some other crap like that, TVs, etc. We sat at the tables. Our server was really nice and attentive. I had a ruben and fries. It was not bad, though skimpy on the kraut in my opinion. The fresh cut fries are the type of fries I like, so I enjoyed those... huge pile of them too, definitely didn't skimp. Bar food. Not bad. This is really unfortunate, but there was occasional fruit flies buzzing around me, which is something that usually grosses me out bigtime. How the hell do you have fruit flies in December? Something needs to be cleaned. Down to earth place though, nothing about it will blow your mind but I thought it was all right I guess.

Um, did I miss something? Was I not there the night they chose to serve good food? I thought everything was sub par at its best. The menu was borrrrrrring. Vegetarian? The most "creative" thing they could come up with is a roasted veggie sandwich. Then I order an "Oreo bomb" and I am told it is a frozen piece of oreo cheesecake from a box. Really? That's the best ya can do? The crowd was a mix, but slightly white trash. Although, I shouldn't be surprised as these are the people that run the Pedal Tavern. Pass!

Disclaimer: O' Lydia's is my kind of place. The environment is classic Milwaukee pub. The food is reliably good. They offer a nice selection of beers and their prices are fair. Lastly, the service is always good. I particularly like the way they are attentive to their social media presence. I had a hankering for a salad a few days ago so I stopped at O' Lydia's for a Chef's Salad. Wow. Was it ever good! Artfully served in a big white bowl with fresh ingredients and my choice of dressing. Man, if you don't think of yourself as a salad eater, try O' Lydia's Chef's Salad ... you'll become one!

When comparing bars to Roman Gods (as I often do) O'Lydia's would definitely be Janus, the Two Faced. My experience here was a Tale of Two Bars. Drinks: Good/Bad Good - $1 PBR's on Friday night? Hell yes. Bad - ok, it sucks to be the Designated Driver, watching your friends get hammered and irritate you with drunken shenanigans. O'Lydia's adds insult to injury by serving flat, tasteless soda. A glass of brown water? No thanks. Atmosphere: Good/Bad Good - the patio, honestly, is GREAT. It's a beautiful place to sit with friends, though a bit noisy from 1st St Traffic. Bad - with the $1 PBRs, I expected more of a skinny jeans/ironic facial hair crowd, not the Affliction clad, collar popped chatch-fest crowding up the front bar. The whole interior needs a DEEP clean - it still smells smoky even after a one year ban. Parking - Good There's a big lot across the street and plenty of street parking. Service - Bad No excuses here - the front bar had three bartenders who were hustling around "looking" busy, but not actually pouring any drinks. Fail. The back bar was staffed by someone desperately trying to determine the difference between her ass and a hole in the ground and failing miserably at the task. It took me 15 minutes to obtain one can of Pabst and a flat soda. Excusable when the place is packed, but that was not the case. Given the split personality of the O'Lydias experience your experience will probably vary. For me, it ended thus: Outside + Patio = great Inside + Service...O'Lydia's = O'Shittyas

Yeah. This place is kinda awesome. A large group of friends and I were out celebrating a birthday and after an awesome evening of jazz at Caroline's we headed for rowdier pastures. Enter O'Lydias. This was my second time here and I'm not sure there is a bar I like better in WP. Their patio is just great and if it weren't for the freight trains zooming by 6 feet from your face I would rank it among the best in town. The bartenders are phenomenally friendly and there is a good enough beer selection to satisfy. This place really hits a few sweet spots. The bar area is a good place for a beer and shot boys night out and the patio kills it for large groups. O'lydia's, lets not wait 8 months before we get together again.

4 Stars for great Packer specials. This is a pretty decent place to catch a game. Although the volume was almost piercing to the ears - the $1 PBR LIGHTS made it all ok.

Loved this bar! The service was extremely friendly and fun! I did not feel as though I was being served by a douche or a by a girl who just wanted to show her body off for more tips. The bruschetta was some of the best that I have ever had and the bartender sure knew how to make very good whiskey sours. There is a restaurant off of the bar area too for people who just want to go to eat. Great environment!

I was introduced to O'Lydia's by a good friend of mine. This is a very nice corner Irish pub & restaurant located in the Walker's Point neighborhood in Milwaukee. The building itself is a Milwaukee classic from the late 1800's, right down to the cream city brick in the front dining area. The former sleeping rooms upstairs have now been converted into a party room for up to 60 people. The staff here is phenomenal. They are very friendly and make sure that everything goes smoothly during your visit. The food here is absolutely delicious. The menu ranges from authentic Irish dishes to traditional pub food, such as burgers, soup and salad, and sandwiches. On our most recent visit, my husband and I tried the Irish Potato Skins appetizer. Oh. My. God. These things were the biggest potato skins we have ever had. They were loaded with shredded beef, bacon bits, red onions, cheddar sauce, and sour cream. Mmmm!! For my meal, I had the Hangover burger. It is made with 1/2 pound Angus beef, cheddar cheese, bacon, and topped with a fried egg. It also comes with lettuce and tomato, however I was able to substitute that for avocado. What a phenomenal burger! O'Lydia's has an awesome happy hour from 2-6pm Monday thru Friday and all day on Sunday. They also have brunch on Sunday that starts at 10am.

My man friend watches a ton of home improvement shows, so we often find ourselves at Restore. After spending time digging through scrap wood and checking out the old lady couches, we need a drink. Conveniently, O'Lydias is right across the street. The patio is dope. Beware of trains, as they will be noisy and right above your head. Still worth it to sit outside. Additionally, I don't mind sitting inside either. Makes me think of a bar from sitcoms in the 80s. Service is okay. I've never had good or bad. Always just in the middle. Mild beer selection, prices are okay. I would not recommend the bloody, as mine was not mixed very well and fairly watered down (the garnish was good though). I've never ordered anything but appetizers here because the entrees are way too expensive for bar food, in my opinion. I always get the chicken tenders, thinking maybe they'll upgrade them but they always taste and look like they came out of the freezer aisle at the grocery store. I'll still be a customer, but I always leave thinking I've spent too much for a sub par experience.

I love Milwaukee neighborhood bars, and O'Lydias is just that. Located in the historic Walkers Point neighborhood, I bet this old cream city brick building could tell some interesting stories if the walls could talk. Plenty of beers on tap and a friendly bartender who will send you out to the patio if the weather is "patio worthy"! And don't forget that O'Lydia's has shuttle service to all the fun events in Milwaukee. We took it to and from Summeriest the other night and it certainly made things a lot easier for my group! They also have a pretty good happy hour which starts at 2pm (yep, you heard me right, 2!) Crazy, I know but good for anyone who is able to "day drink" on a regular basis! Ha! Nothing fancy (but what Irish bar is?) Just a good crowd, friendly servers and a menu that beckons me to order even though I usually have already eaten by the time I get here! Check it out!

Descriptive phrase: friendly Irish pub. O'Lydia's has a nice space next to the train tracks in an otherwise-industrial corner of Walker's Point, with seating inside, in a covered patio, and an outdoor patio. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable. They have great beer deals, and on this night both of us got unique craft brews for $3/pint. Pamela M. was not lying when she said their Mozzarella sticks (4 for $8.25 = perfect for 2 people) were great: they're my wife's new favorites. The two of us split a Combo Fish Fry ($15.50), which again was plenty for 2 people and a great deal at that. It's a dish of 3 shrimp, 2 bluegill, 1 perch, and 1 cod all deep fried on a bed of fries. The shrimp was a little off but okay, and the perch and cod were standard. But we were not a fan of the bluegills. Not terrible, but just not as good the rest. Overall O'Lydia's was a nice pub spot worth coming to for a fish fry and a beer.

Always a great place to stop for a quick, reasonably priced dinner. Lots of hot sandwich selections, tons of salads and a few entrees. Have to have the homemade fries, perfect. The ambiance is nice, it's a tin ceiling Irish place with ample seating, friendly service and super clean bathrooms (ladies... This is a huge plus for us). Tonight I had the BLT and it was perfect! Bacon was extra crispy and the bread lightly toasted. Tuesday's is also $2 domestic bottles, who can argue.

A Miller Lite at O'Lydia's is the first thing I order when I sit down after skating practice. I've earned it and it really hits the spot. The staff is always gracious and accommodating to our large group and does their best to bring out everyone's drinks and food ASAP. We usually snag a spot on the patio to spare anyone within earshot of our volume at times. Next on the list is the Bloody Mary. If I ask for spicy, they deliver, along with an array of impressive garnishes. It is a beverage AND a meal. I also enjoy the reuben rolls and chili. Portion sizes on everything are generous, but who am I complain after working out for two hours. O'Lydia's a great spot to grab a drink for Happy Hour (check out their great specials) or watch a game at the bar. Fun Fact: Check in for a great coupon on Yelp!

O'Lydia's- you are the absolute perfect hangover breakfast spot! We all met here after 10 hours of drinking the night before. We were seated outside in the enclosed patio area. One in our group might have even been falling asleep at our table, but we won't be too hard on her. The waitress was awesome and kept bringing her oyster crackers and ginger ale. I wasn't sure if we were all tired or a little melancholy that we were 30 (or pushing it) and couldn't hang like our younger days. Being Milwaukee, I of course ordered a Bloody Mary. It did not disappoint- taking off the edge and providing a little snack while waiting for my food. I had the french toast and hash browns. Bring on those carbs. They were just what I needed before an afternoon nap and starting the fun again. The only issue was a friend of mine ordered the Canadian bacon because they said it was included in her meal. It showed as an extra charge and they said they couldn't take it off. (How can you not take it off?) The decor could use some work, but the menu is vast and would appease any large group, the staff is attentive and funny, and the food is hot and delicious. Keep on keeping on O'Lydia's, I like your style!

Haven't been here in many moons, or, like 4 previous businesses ago. Seemed a lot larger then, but I was also a lot smaller. I don't know how to describe it.....not hipster (thankfully!), not old school, definitely not biker, just a decent, homey type bar. Hubs had a couple of Spotted Cows and I had a double amaretto sour. We settled on the blue chips appetizer as a snack. All were very good. If you don't like blue cheese, then the chips are not for you. Homemade potato chips smothered in blue cheese dressing and crumbles! Being Saturday night, it was a little loud inside but not so much as to make your ears bleed. Our bartender was very nice and recommended that we come back sometime to try one of their sandwiches. I look forward to doing just that! 8/2015/102

Good Happy Hour Spot! From 2pm - 6pm daily they offer: $1 cans for PBR, PRB Light and Rolling Rock $2 domestic taps $3 rails And your first Yelp check in nets you a half off any appetizer coupon. Nothing spectacular and the menu but good, fresh bar food. They also have excellent servers and a pretty cool patio. Many reasons to check it out and none not to!

Update for O'Lydias: After further deliberation, they deserve five instead of my previous four. Why? 1) I've lived in the area long enough now to better judge 2) they still have some of my favorite cheese sticks in Milwaukee 3) they have a Yelp coupon when you check in 4) they actually HONOR the Yelp coupon 5) they sell art prints. Cool looking art prints. 6) the staff has always been nice an accommodating. Rick is here a lot, cool dude. Seems like he cares and likes his job. 7) one of the hardest things for Yelpers to do (in my opinion) is review a place for what it's trying to be. Not everything is the Ritz Carlton. Because they aren't trying to be. Because not all consumers want to go to the Ritz, either. This is a just a corner bar. And in terms of corner bars, this place goes the extra mile considering the points aforementioned. I like it here. I go to a lot of establishments and I still really feel good about coming here. There's a lot of options and O'Lydias is one of those on the top of my list for decent grub, nice bar atmosphere and worthy specials.

Please check-in here on Yelp to find a delightful deal that you can access each time you check-in. We have been going to this place when it first opened as Slim McGinn's. I was very excited when Linda took over and gave this place new life. First, the patio is amazing in the summer. Who wouldn't want to sit back and have a few cold ones while enjoying Milwaukee's short season called summer? For the sun-haters there is an all season room in back that won't expose you to the elements. O'Lydia's has shuttles to most major sporting events also Summerfest and Irish Fest. For Summerfest park on the street and ride the shuttle there but if you are staying until close it is best to walk back to O'Lydia's vs. sitting in traffic for over an hour. When it transitioned to O'Lydias the drink prices went down to a much more reasonable level. They have a great selection on tap and one hell of a bloody mary. They also throw great Packer game parties with free touchdown shots and an amazing half time food spread. It is probably some of the best free food I have seen served at a Packer game. Get there early because it is standing room only later. Now let's talk about the food.....Wednesday $.50 wings and trivia....$6 AYCE tacos on Mondays....$5 1/2# burger on Thursdays...and many more specials. I love the reuben rolls and the mozzarella sticks. They make their own salad dressings and croutons so the salads are terrific. I also love their Friday fish fry (breaded vs. thick batter) and their reuben sandwiches. Honestly there hasn't been anything that I have not liked on the menu. Stop by for brunch on Saturday or Sunday....selection is limited but good. They also make it easy to save money with the nightly specials and other deals. Happy hour taps are only $3 from 2pm to 6pm. Make sure you get a punch card with your brunch or lunch. There are two different cards that can earn you a free meal. Also, don't forget the Yelp check-in for a great special.

We stopped in here post-Milwaukee Brewing Company tour, armed with our tokens for free beer and in desperate need of food to soak up the beer already consumed (except for me, the designated driver). We were assured by the ladies up front that they were clearing a table for our party of five, but we waited a good 15 minutes while they kept telling us it would be ready any minute now. Seated, we let our server know that we were on a bit of a schedule (folks to drop at the airport), but she dilly dallied in taking our orders and bringing drinks, which was kind of annoying. The potato skins appetizer was decent, but my French dip sandwich was pretty lame. Just a bunch of mediocre, flavorless roast beef piled on an open hoagie, with no way to fold it up and eat it. I ended up picking at it with a fork and not eating most of it, since it just didn't taste very good, and the server didn't ask if there was anything wrong, despite picking up my almost full plate. Others in the group liked their food better, so perhaps my difficulty was in being the only sober person. Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed. Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I'll try someplace else.

I love o' Lydia's. Especially Wednesdays. 50¢ wings with several good sauces and a few special ones every week. Sauce can hide crappy wings (talking at ya big wing chain place). Here they grill em and fry em. And truly awesomesause. That's a new word btw. Perfect! How do I know? Why should you trust me? My picky kiddo makes me come here every Wednesday night for wings. She can't get enough of this place. And the waitstaff are superfantastic. Good beer selection And they have my fav on tap (rare). Fuel cafe. Great brewery meets amazing coffee shop. Bam! I would give it 4.5 stars but ya'all know I can't. And like many places they have a shuttle to the games so come early and eat and drink here for 1/3 of the cost at MPark.

This Walkers Point neighborhood pub offers a good selection of beers. They also whip up a tasty lime margarita. On Monday nights they offer all you can eat tacos for $5.99. They do charge a small fee for extras beyond cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. There is also a $1 up charge for the optional chicken tacos. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating.

I found this little gem last year it's close to home and I really love this place. Their daily specials rock. Thursday's you get 1/2 lb burger for only $5. Burgers are amazing from the seasoned patty to the bread being toasted. stack'd has nothing on their burgers. Ruben rolls is a must try! Service has always been friendly and attentive.

Went here with some friends for trivia night on a Sunday. Was really impressed with everything! The food was AMAZING! I highly recommend the Spinach Grilled Cheese. It was phenomenal, and it was a huge portion for such a small price. Since it was Sunday, it was also Happy Hour all day, so that meant $3 taps. The staff is really friendly, the food is delicious, and the drinks are cheap. I think I found my new favorite local hangout.

Ruben rolls are great! Sitting on patio is awesome. Music and beer selection are varied to make everyone happy. The grilled cheese sandwich was darn near perfect. If you are still hungry after one of their sandwiches there is something wrong with you. Do yourself a favor and stop in and enjoy this gem of a place. You do not to be Irish to enjoy!

Loved this place. The wait staff gave us the back room for a business dinner. They were very organized and calm about a huge order. Servers did great! Food was excellent. But don't expect healthy faire. I had the portabella burger and it wss excellent. Great job for a huge bump of imsurace

Fun fun spot. Rick and Michelle are awesome bartenders. One dollar PBR so you cant go wrong. The hangover burger is killer. The wings are some of the best in the city. Bar dice is fun there. Good music.

Love this place! Great GREAT food, excellent service, and good drink specials. Happy Hour is on Sunday's too- bonus! Check out the weekend brunch menu. Just ordered twin steak tenders and salads; hubby and I are splitting. Giving the potatoes away to a friend. Eating low carb these days.

Awesome bar food. Get the Shepherd's Pie, Irish Corn Beef, one of their healthy salads!

Great bar to go to for a bite to eat and a drink.. Try the Reuben Rolls and a Bloody Mary.

Good food and cheap drinks. Everything on the menu is good but what really stands out are the specials. All you can eat tacos on Monday nights is probably the biggest bang for your buck around Milwaukee.

Pass!

Great workers and pub! Location works for me and is useful to get a drinks and food with the ladies after practice. Reuben Rolls are amazing as well as the buffalo garlic wings:) Keep up the good work! Thanks for being a supporter of the brewcity bruisers!!!

Do yourself a favor if you go to O'Lydia's order the shepards pie. I'm as Irish as Paddy's Pig, and this was the best shepards pie I've ever tasted!

Disappointed in the quality of good. Friendly staff, but moderate service. With so many good bars with food in the area, probably won't be coming back. They do have a nice outdoor area, and if that's what you're looking for, then it's maybe a 3 star.

Excellent food. Haven't had a bad meal yet. Plus, Lacey's the shit just don't piss her off.
