Blech. Snooty waitresses dressed like um.. Can I use those words here? And a half hour wait for a crepe. Sorry, no thanks. And the crepe was filled with spinach dip... Mmm. Not. FYI - this was from Bastille Days 2013.

Don't order me to take off my hat when I can see 4 other guys in the bar wearing hats. I'm not some thug, I'm a well dressed small business owner respecting your Milwaukee establishment. Focus more on controlling your crowd of d-bags & creepy older men. I don't care enough for your place to deal with that kind of isolated discrimination. You have scantily dressed bartenders, dollar bombs, & mediocre top 40 music. That's it. Icing on the cake: Waitress tells me my drink is $10. I give her $15 cus I have no singles, she doesn't bring me back change. Enjoy your stolen $5 tip.

Judging by the older reviews, this place has changed quite a bit. We got a chance to meet the new chef, who, even on a busy Saturday night, came out of the kitchen to see how his dishes were being received. He's rightfully proud of his work, I thoroughly enjoyed my potato-encrusted Walleye, the blue crab cake "sliders" appetizer was even better. We were in a larger group, we ordered across the menu, and there wasn't a single disappointment. Before dinner there was a nice selection of single malt scotch at the bar, the wine list is kind of short but adequate. The service is excellent, attentive, though I should warn those of you who are in the kinds of shaky relationships that are threatened easily by beautiful young women, that the waitstaff is ridiculously, almost unbelievably attractive. Not that I noticed, just sayin'. The place is actually a multipurpose establishment, the front is a trendy club style bar, where you'd feel too old if you can remember the Clinton administration. The restaurant tables are in the back where they also have alternatively scheduled comedy, plays, live music (check their website, skip the intro). After dinner we saw a hilarious comic play called "bye bye liver" about the perils of recreational alcohol use, afterward the cast worked the crowd in an extension of the night's entertainment (they were individually all quite funny as they came to our tables to thank us for coming). The performance we saw would not have been appropriate for children, check first, but it's not really a family place. The restaurant is, however, a first rate choice for a romantic date (though consider my warning about the waitresses, it's as if they only hire models or something), or any group of friends from maybe 2 to 6. It's a cozy setting, so any larger group would have to break up into smaller parts. It's a tad pricey, though certainly consistent with the downtown area restaurants of comparable menu and ambiance, I think we averaged around $50 per person, for drinks, appetizer and entrees. I've certainly spent more for less in downtown Milwaukee. The one complaint I have seems to be a problem for me at a lot of bars and restaurants nowadays, the ambient noise level approaches the level of power tool use. When the play wasn't on, they were blaring music out of an excellent sound system at a level that OSHA would require hearing protection. Our 6 person discussion required shouting, enough that I was hoarse the next morning, and at no point were all six of us at the table all engaged in the same conversation, it was just too loud in there. I'm a musician so I am very protective about my ears, I'm sure the average customer wouldn't be concerned. At any rate, the food, service, and entertainment were all so enjoyable, I'll just bring some hearing protection with me next time, but there will definitely be a next time, quite soon.

Went back to Mikey's with a friend of mine we were up visiting places to find a nice place to host his bachelor party. Thought this place may be a good one to hit up on the list because I had a great experience awhile back. We ordered a few beers and some apps to test the waters... 1. Chicken Strips w/ fries 2. Bruschetta 3. Asian type egg rolls The atmosphere was nice cool music but wasn't very impressed this time. The bar tending staff didn't seem like they cared or had anything nice to say just looking around...didn't feel very inviting. The one was wearing a cutoff t-shirt which seemed out of place for a swank establishment. The bartender hit us up right away to pay for drinks when we planned on ordering food too and didn't bother to ask if we would like to order food...had to ask for menu's! Overall the apps were cold and didn't seem like anyone really put some thought into heating them or spending some time to create a quality product. Way different then my last experience. We finished our drinks and got out of there. Really wish I had the same experience as a previous time but no such luck. Kick it up a notch Mikey's you have a nice place.

Ahhhh Mikey's. The good old bastard child of the SURG Restaurant group. SURG has some really nice places. This just isn't one of them. I just don't get what they're going for here. Upscale "comfort food with a twist" followed by $1 bomb night. Two ideas that are completely at odds with each other. I will never come here again for two reasons. 1. I watched bartenders take money for a drink and put it straight into the till which is a huge pet peeve of mine. 2. One of the cooks came out as I was sitting at the bar during happy hour and said "Man, the food here really sucks." How do I know he was a cook? He walked out of the kitchen dressed in his whites. If the food isn't good and you're the person making it, I think it would be well within your capabilities to improve it. Add salt, sauce, SOMETHING! Anything but walk into the dining area and say it sucks.

I thought the food was very good. I had the pork shoulder (Door County cherry BBQ sauce) and it was the favorite at the table. My daughter had 4cheese mac and even I thought it was excellent. My wife's poor man's lobster was pretty good but not excellent. We sat outdoors and very close to the Louise's tables. We didn't like how there was smoking allowed out there, and being right next to another restaurant we had no one to complain to. Indoors looked fancy, which was a stark contrast to the metal tables outdoors. Table clothes were needed and the table was sticky. Overall I would recommend. That block has several choices of similar quality and niceness. Can't go wrong.

My review is for Mikey's as a bar/venue as we did not order any food. Stopped in here to see a friend's band play in the back bar area. The space was great and the bartenders were really friendly. After the show, we sat at the front bar and had some more beers and watched the game. The bathrooms were clean too which is always a bonus for me. Cool space to pony up and have a drink.

The buzz about this place was that they were a tad snooty. That buzz wasn't far off the mark. We arrived for an early dinner and we were among the only people eating. The music, controlled by the bartender, was so loud we couldn't hear each other. We had to ask our waiter four times to ask the bartender to dial it down before anything happened. I ordered their burger after having asked if they ground their own beef, which they did. The burger came cooked to my rare order but It also came with a thick slice of portobello that had been way over-marinaded to the point of not being able to taste anything else. When biting into it, the marinade flooded the plate and soaked the bun. For all the meat's freshness it was a very disappointing burger.

The ambiance of this bar was very nice. It was a more grown up crowd and not a bunch of people that just turned 21. I loved it because it seemed like a nice place for the grown and sexy! My husband and I watched bye bye liver and that play was hilarious. You do get pretty drunk drinking along but it's a good time out. We will go there next time to try the food. Update: Went there for dinner the dinner was not good well atleast it wasnt a place we'd want to eat at again

Honestly, this place is fine for a drink if the other bars in the area are super crowded or something, but I really wasn't a fan of the food. Too greasy, too salty, uninspired. It is by far the weakest link of the SURG restaurant group.

We went here during the afternoon when it was a little slower (maybe a mistake) because the waitress was ALL OVER US. We ordered drinks (the Lychee one is seriously amazing and puts the other drinks to shame) One complaint about the drinks was that before we went there we looked on the website which made it seem that there was a happy hour drink special (4-7), but alas, upon arrival, there is no such special, we asked the server and she looked at us, cluelessly. We ordered the cajun spring rolls (because Aria was soooo hungry). They were ok. Aria, "can't say I'd order them again, but..." everything was consumed. You could kind of tell that they were just dropped in the deep fryer to order and probs ordered from Cisco. And then we got the Tuna Carpaccio- it had a really nice sauce and the Tuna tasted fresh. We could definitely forsee ordering this in the future. Nothing was bad, it just seemed that someone completed a check-list for a "hip" downtown restaurant when thinking about the concept. The atmosphere was kind of generic. The food that we had (the Tuna) was great and we'd probs have that again, but if we would head to Mikey's it would most likely be for drinks. (as long as the website is revised and we dont get let down again that we are there during happy hour)

Had four apps here with my wife on Saturday night. Shrimp: good. Bruchetta: better. Stuffed mushrooms: would have been better without the sausage. Fried eggplant: tasteless. I think it was frozen at some point.

While staying in the area overnight, we decided to find a nice lounge or bar near our hotel. After searching for a few reviews on Yelp, we decided to take a walk to check them out and stop at the one that was the better fit. Mi-key's was the ticket! This spot offers plenty of seating options, nicely dressed staff (bouncers included), great music and an awesome decor. Seating options include the bar, private booths, tables and chairs and outdoor seating. The weather happened to be perfect, so the doors were slid open to have an outside and inside feel. We grabbed a table inside but the doors were open so we had the benefit of feeling like we were outside but in nicer seating. They offer several signature drinks and an extensive lists of beers on tap. We loved the energy and mixed crowd this place attracted. Most patrons were between 25-55. There is no dress code. Some people were dressed in casual wear, club gear and business attire. ....And we all partied together. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend you stop in.

I dined here during Milwaukee's downtown dining and had a horrible experience. I went in for lunch and know that they aren't usually open for lunch but that's no excuse for the horrible food and slow service. Because it's downtown dining week you could only order certain items so no excuse for poor execution. My water was never refilled, portions were awful, food was bad. The only thing that was good were the French fries. I will not be eating here again. It's not worth he hassle of downtown traffic and parking. The hostess had the shortest shorts on that's she had to tugging at. Sorry but if you are adjusting shorts near your parts wash your hands please. Might be a good place for drinks but eat somewhere else.-

Descriptive phrase: too loud, too-cramped yuppie lounge. I stopped by on a Saturday night around 11 at Mikey's. I won't be doing that again. The place was packed, yet they still kept out these big high-top tables that just forced everyone to bump into each other. The service was doing an admirable job behind the bar, and I could see there was a kitchen and event space in the back, but we left almost immediately due to the crowd and ear-splittingly loud music. It's a see-and-be-seen kind of place for the young professionals in the area, but don't expect to breathe or hear. Why is there a line for this place sometimes?

Downtown Dining Week is an incredible opportunity to introduce your restaurant to people who have limited or no past experience with your establishment. I'd never eaten at Mikey's before and based on my recent experience it's likely I'll never return. Sadly, I should be saying the exact opposite because the food was good enough to warrant a return. After being seated it took 10 minutes for our server to say hello, when he finally showed up with water. He returned fairly promptly to take our orders, which included a soup, entree, and dessert. The soup didn't come out for 15 minutes. It's soup, not a steak. Ladle, bowl, serve. Done. 5 minutes tops. We were told the kitchen was slammed. It was the first day of Downtown Dining Week. The fact that the kitchen (and presumably management) wasn't prepared for a rush is baffling. Before our entrees arrived, which was 10 minutes after our soup was finished, I heard the adjacent table ask for their entrees to go because they'd been waiting so long. Not good. The fish tacos were great. Top notch. I'd eat them again. But for dessert, my friend's brownie sundae looked more like a bowl of brownie soup. The ice cream was almost completely melted. Quality control falls on both the kitchen and the front of the house and both screwed up. All told, what should have been a 60 minute lunch turned into 90 minutes. I'd always been curious to try Mikey's and now that I have I can happily cross it off my "try again" list.

The atmosphere is ok, but the food is not so good and probably over priced for Milwaukee. I had some steak that was over done, and some creepy sweet potatoes that looked more like dried fruit. I don't even know how they could have possibly prepared them like that. I wish I would have kept one because it was so unusual, plus it was so dried out I'm sure it wouldn't have spoiled. The person next to me ordered a burger that looked like a dehydrated black puck, with no cheese. He sent it back and got a less creepy looking burger, but the second one looked slightly better. The house wine was pretty reasonable though in price and taste. I'd probably return to drink the wine, but I'd have to be really hungry to eat there again.

Its had a cozy atmosphere with the fireplace and seating but still had an industrial edge. Prices were resonable and it is a relaxing place.

I used to live a block away from here, but still had only in the past visited mikeys to a) use the bathroom or b) buy a drink during jazz in the park, bastille days, etc It is a little bit 'generic trendy bar/restaurant' for downtown, but I liked the exposed brick and fireplace. It was aright. I had a blood orange (I think?) Mojito that was way delicious. Just the right amount of alcohol. I had a salmon Caesar salad...salmon was cooked perfect but rest of salad was sort of meh....they give u a nice bread basket with different kinds of butter. And I was less than thrilled they wouldn't accept my expired groupon for face value. But whatevs. It's alright, menu has a little of everything. Overall I'd say stick with this place for drinks, not dinner so much.

When you are self employed, you tend to drink more. Use to be a real hard time finding a place that had any type of crowd on Wednesdays. Well no more, THIS IS IT! The best place to be in MKE on a Wednesday. One Dollar Bombs (that don't taste like total shit, drinkable) brings out the huge crowd. There is a DJ usually spinning the typical music you would find at places such as Whiskey Bar. While not everyone dancing, it seemed like everyone was at the very least having a good time talking. You know its pretty popping when the a couple of Brewers players show up. Well there goes my pick of the ladies :( Usually a decent crowd, or semi-classy, I saw a bouncer not let in a few folks due to the way they were dressed, or acted. This place is more for the booze then the food.... Again though, usually this place is not packed at all but Wednesday nights this is the place to be. No where comes even close to touching Mikey's.

First visit: waiter was inexperienced, did not provide us with knives, forgot our drinks, served food to a table that sat down 30 minutes after we did. Food: ehhh. Lasagna was mostly sauce, very little pasta and almost no cheese. A woman at another table sent hers back because the inside was frozen, so we know it's not fresh. Drinks are overpriced. Second visit (2 weeks later): was informed, after attempting to order, that 3 cocktails were no longer available and that the menu hadn't been updated. On first visit I attempted to order a cocktail and was told it was unavailable that day. Other items on menu had also not been updated. Food was better. Apple crisp was very good. For the amount of food I had, it was far too expensive. Bar tenders dress, no joke, like hookers. Definitely not child appropriate.

I didn't get a chance to eat here, only stopped in for a drink on a Thursday night. The retro design inside is fantastic and the live entertainment was excellent. Service was pretty good but nothing to rave about. Cheers to 4 stars for really making this place amazing inside.

The only reason we went here is because we had a gift certificate. The food was OK, and the drinks were reasonably priced for a bar on Cathedral Square. The waitstaff was nice, but overall I think I could have made the same dishes at home and have done them better. If you order the chicken, ask for the gravy on the side.

It was good, close, with a valet. We were in town and rainy and crappy night and needed to eat. We used the valet for $6 because it was easy. We were not prepared to go somewhere nice/dressy, so we asked to sit in the bar. The rain really foiled our drinking plans. We were given the dinner menu, but requested the bar/lunch menu for some lighter choices. We decided on the artichoke dip to start. It took a while, but when it came out it was pretty good. I liked the tomato basil tortillas served alongside. There was a little too much prepared Parmesan for my liking, but it was good. I had the grilled cheese sandwich with a tomato and fries, dining companion had the club with onion rings. My grilled cheese was suppose to come on marble rye, but I think it was wheat. Either way, it was decent sandwich with cheddar, Swiss and provolone. Something tasted a bit smokey to me, either way it was a decent sandwich. The fries were nice skinny, hot and crispy. I liked them. Dining companion's club was a club. He said it was okay. The bill was around $35 for the app, 2 sandwiches, a Limon and diet, and iced tea. Fair enough price. Couldn't figure the place out though - it was restaurant/bar, but then it looked like a nightclub was setting up in the back or something. The patrons were in all age groups, but I would say 30 and up. It was a good place to check out, but nothing gave me the WOW factor.

A nice outside atmosphere as jazz in the park was going on. For an appetizer I had ordered calamari it was good not great but good. For the main dish I had ordered the chicken broccoli gnocchi it was really tasty. I like the variety of drinks but not quite enough on the menu for me to go back on a regular basis service was pretty good.

Mikey's was a default stop for us the other night-as our original destination of Elsa's was packed and we really just wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink. I had never heard of it before as it wasn't there when I lived in Milwaukee. We pushed open the door and were surprised to see that Mikey's was nearly empty- yet all the places around it were packed. Not usually a good sign. Oh well. The alcohol is the same, AND we could sit at the bar so sit we did. The bartender was quick with the drinks and gab, telling us that Mikey's has been open for a few years (thus the reason I had never heard of it as it wasn't open when I lived here) and that the owners own a few other places around town. Mikey's is like two bars in one. Up front where we were- I think they were going for a more sophisticated look with black and silver accents and the beautiful cream city brick that Milwaukee is known for. The crowd up front was young and clubby. But in the large back room, (The Skylight room) there were tables clustered together, live music playing and a more "mature" crowd. We didn't stay long enough to thoroughly check it out but that looked like the more interesting part of this bar. Also- the Skylight Room is the non smoking area of this bar until the no smoking law kicks in next June. Street parking is available in the area- or there is a parking garage on the other side of Cathedral Square. Careful in the garage- while the parking is free at night- many of the pedestrian entrances/exits are locked so you may have to hike up a ramp to find your car. Mikey's will probably not go on my list of places to send friends as I still have my "go to" favorites in Milwaukee. But if I still lived in Milwaukee- it would probably be a stop to check out the music and to grab a drink before moving on to another destination in the area.

Ew. I've never eaten here and I don't think I ever will. I've been here in the summers during Jazz and it's always been so packed that I haven't noticed the atmosphere. Unfortunately I went here a couple of weeks ago for a beer when the temperatures were dipping below zero and couldn't believe it. All of the girls that work here were more scantily clad than any other bar I've been to in Milwaukee and the vibe of the place felt more creepy than sexy. The only guys in there were old and they were all ogling the girls. Not really my thing. The service was sub-par and the overall atmosphere was pretty appalling. Pretty sure I won't be coming back.

I was going to give this place a 3, but then started realizing much of what you see from the outside is nothing more than a facade. This is very apparent when walking in to the bathroom to see holes in the wall where a paper towel dispenser used to be, and a roll of wet paper towel on the counter. That aside, the food is very disappointing. I stopped in to try the cheeseburger, and some wings and both were some of the worst I've had in the city. The burger, although was seasoned well, had some good flavor, and had cheddar cheese on it, was tiny and over cooked. Again, why ask how I want my burger done if you're going to cook it well done anyway? And it was seriously small, like a slider patty on a regular bun. At least this added some comic relief to the meal. There's not much to say about the wings. They were flavorless, and the 'blue cheese' that came with them was as thin as water. And I've seriously drank water before! There's no reason to come here unless there's an event happening. If you want food, walk about 50 feet north, or just start walking south and stop in anywhere.

I like Mikey's vibe - It's just a cool place to go and grab some drinks with a friend, a bunch of friends, or with a date.....Throw some fresh clothes on and step out for the night. They have a few booths (not many) to sit in or a few table tops with high chairs to chill at - both are good spots for you & your date. I usually sit at the bar when I go and I've never have a problem with service - I don't think I have ever eaten here, so I can't give you a great review on the food. I enjoy the music they play, the pretty women that come through and the location of the bar. Mikey's is close to so many other bars and restaurants - you can't go wrong. Wednesday's is ladies night and it's a good time. One extra note........they host plays sometimes in the back room of this bar. I've seen one or two and they aren't Broadway worthy but their funny.

Words cannot describe how funky this place is. I mean this place has gorgeous people and great drinks & music on a Wednesday night. Can't ask for more! Country night baffles me but hey Mi-Keys has great things going for it. A must if your in the city.. Amazing as a bar. Food-wise I haven't even had a chance to try it cuz I'm dancing too much.

From everything I know of this spot, I know it's not my cup of tea. So let me say this straight away: I've never been here. Nothing about the place appeals to me on any level. I've lived in this city long enough and I know the nightlife well enough to know, instinctively, that Mikeys is not the place for me. I. Won't. Go. Here. And the powers that be at Mikeys have pretty much cinched that with a totally annoying faux pas. Let me explain. Somehow - and I have absolutely NO idea how this happened, because it's with the email address that I guard with my life and only use for business and family contacts - I ended up on their event email list. This is annoying. The truly obnoxious part of this is that I've requested to be removed from this list not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES to no avail. I value my privacy and I do not enjoy random crap cluttering up my email inbox. The fact that these jokers have completely ignored my request to not receive the email equivalent of a television commercial just sticks in my craw. Screw you, Mikeys, and your stupid event email list, too.

Just enjoyed my first experience at Mikey's for a weekday lunch. The atmosphere was upscale trendy, but I think you'd feel at home in jeans also. They seemed to have an extensive cocktails menu featuring lots of various infused liquors. We didn't partake, as we both needed to be productive after lunch. I had the French Onion soup, one of the 2 daily soups offered. I was initially disappointed when it arrived as it had no melted cheese on it. My disappointment went away after my first spoonful however, as it was delicious! I also had the caramelized onion and blue cheese pizza appetizer as my main course. It was really tasty, and had about the thinnest crust I'd ever seen on a pizza. We're talking paper thin and CRISPY! Very nice. My wife had the southwestern Caesar salad with chicken which was also very good. In the back dinning room we were seated in there was a stage and full-on light & sound set-up. I guess they have some kind of live comedy/theater events there weekly, but don't know anything else about it. I'd say Mikey's is a definite destination to check out for dinner and/or drinks the next time you're near Cathedral Square.
