I stopped this morning with a friend and had a very pleasant brunch on the slightly chilly sidewalk. The service was attentive and efficient. I had the Jack's Scrambler - a delicious combination of egg, cheese, smoked sausage and pepper. The only complaint was the diced tomatoes were slices instead. Overall it was tasty. My companion had an Eggs Benedict with a substitution of avocado for the smoked ham and it was well done. Would recommend it.

Can only speak to the drinks. Beer selection is minimal and we came in during a Badgers game and were told all beers were $5....no matter whether it was a Miller Lite or a Stella. Kind of felt like the bartender was full of it when he said that but either way I would never come drink here. So overpriced compared to other bars in the area, won't be coming back.

I'm definitely a fan of this place! The inside reminds an Irish bar (dark, wood interior) meets sports bar (a lot of TVs around the bar). The waitstaff is friendly. Loved playing bar dice with them. And, they were very attentive. Didn't have to wait long for drinks. The food is very good bar food, too! Typical menu items like wings, cheese curds, wraps, sandwiches, salads.

Descriptive phrase: clubby American pub. Jack's on Brady Street varies depending on the time of day. Its scene at night is much more drunken, deaf college kids. I am not a fan. But during the day and evening it's a decent place to catch a sporting event on one of their many TVs. I came for a Badger basketball game and they were featuring free pizzas with every pitcher order. That's $9 for a pitcher of beer and a fresh pizza. Dang. Take Jack's for what it is; use it for sports and that's about it.

Jack's has good deals and decent food. Wednesday $1 burgers are huge and flavorful. On Sunday they have NFL Ticket. It's a cool open atmosphere and very easy to manuver around the bar. They have a decent drink deal every day.

Good time...ask for Dan the bartender! We played Bar Dice of quite a while and had a blast.

Just another reminder that Brady Street has great places for food and great places to drink but very few that do both well. The Garage is the exception at the moment. The ambiance is that of "Marquette slumming on the Eastside." In other words, the douche level is high in this place. The woman who greeted us was nice and efficient. She sat us at what appeared to be the last open booth on the first floor. Our server was both surly and obsequious. She arrived right as we were taking off our winter coats and gear and wanted to know right away if we wanted to order anything. We hadn't even sat and looked at a menu. As the night progressed she hit every cliche a waitress could: arriving when everyone has a mouthful of food, arriving when one of the table members is absent, not waiting long enough to take the entire table's orders for drinks before running off for one drink and then double dipping her time by having to come back again and again and finally dropping the check off and disappearing for a long while as though her tip was going to miraculously go up the longer she stayed away,. She wasn't bad, but she wasn't great. The beer choices are weak. For having run World of Beer off Brady Street, you'd think the "local" places would step it up. Seriously, it was a travesty. The only macro on tap was Miller Lite. There were only four micros on tap and only four more imports. The food: good, if you like Sysco food. Nothing is freshly prepared and nothing is stellar. The menu is simple, which makes sense but if you're going to go for simple, make sure you're doing it stellar. Jack's isn't. Everything is good, but for approximately 10$ a burger, brat, hot dog, sandwich it really doesn't blow your mind. For a comparison, the Garage does similar food at similar prices and the quality is infinitely better. Will we be back. . . maybe. I mean, it wasn't terrible. It just wasn't great for the price point. And the ambiance is a bit frat boy on holiday douchey.

Okay so I was real hesitant to even enter Jack's. It's on Brady and it seemed to have a bit of a heavy Brah vibe. It's definitely a dude bar. But that's okay. Dude's are okay. And once I saw the pitcher and pizza deal on Thursday I was so so sold. I went with a buncha ladies (tryin to get some estrogen into the place) and we ordered a pitcher, which came with a free pizza. WHAT. about 7 minutes later we order our 2nd pitcher and our server goes: "Great. Another pizza too?" This continued until we almost needed to roll ourselves out of the joint and I was feelin thankful for my legging choice in pants. I don't know about Jack's on a Friday or Saturday (eek), but Thursday nights are A-ok with me. cheers! P.s. if your a classyass nacho connoisseur like mahself, don't order their's. The pizza though, itsa good.

Though I don't like coming here as a former crisp lover, they do the food thing well. I've eaten here a few times and enjoyed it a lot. The buffalo wrap is where it's at and love love waffle fries. I'm not sure why every place in Milwaukee serves them. Not my scene in the crowd..the bartenders should appreciate their guests. A little hospitality in the hospitality industry goes a long way.

OK Jacks. This is more of a 3.5. You've finally got your shit together. Upgrade. I've visited a couple of times since my first experience. I've hung out downstairs and upstairs, and the service has improved greatly. Friendly servers who are easy to flag down but don't suffocate you. Decently fast bar service, even during busy times (like a Packers game). Seriously solid chicken wings (and $.50 to boot on Mondays. Try the buffalo, it's not what you think). Looks like the management is working on things, and that can only be good for them and the customers. Keep it up, you're on the right track guys.

If you like places with woman's basketball on TV while the bartender alternates between singing to smash mouth and listening to his brah laugh excessively to observations about himself, you've come to the right place.

Whats up with all the bad reviews??? This place is great, good bar food, cold beer and good bartenders and waiters. You are going to a BAR not a 5 star restaurant, this place has good bar food that is best enjoyed with several cold PBR tall boys. IMO this is one of the best places to catch a game.

Another great, casual experience for us! First off, we do tend to favor the Brady street area, as it's our neighborhood, but not all the restaurants are good (let's just be honest here). Jack's opened a year or so ago - used to be Crisp. I walk past Jack's nearly every day, but yesterday was the first time my husband & I gave it a try. They have outdoor seating during the summer months. It was a beautiful day so we opted for one of their umbrella tables and a couple of cold drinks. Our waitress was very friendly, brought menus and offered some suggestions along with the drink specials. I opted for the chef salad with honey mustard dressing, my husband the wings with their house dry-rub. I know there was a previous review bashing the wings, but we both loved them! I guess it's simply a matter of taste. They were heavily seasoned, but neither of us felt that it detracted from the order. We're both "wing people", so if you are too, don't hesitate to give them a try. My chef salad was very nice - large portion, great dressing, fresh (albeit iceberg) greens - I would definitely reorder that as well. I can't comment on the interior as we never set foot inside, but we loved the food, service was great.... we'll be back!

Terrible service!!! There are only like 8 options on the brunch menu, and the waitress managed to mess up our orders. We ordered at 11 and the food started coming out at 12... Some people's orders didn't arrive til half of us had finished eating. She switched my husband's and my omelettes (I don't eat onions) which my husband didn't realize til eating half of my food, leaving me hungry. One person's order was completely forgotten. How can service be THIS bad?!

This place was alright. It can be a fun place to drink but there are so many other better places to eat on Brady.

Its a bar. I'm a fan of the place. When we went, we were looking for bar food and that's what we found there. Also, they have beer, so how bad can it be?

**UPDATE (again) 6/24/14... I have to admit it: Jacks has become my go-to bar on Brady... While I didn't see this coming, I am happy with the result. Good place to get beer and I like the $8 Liter specials they have (I think on Fridays). I also enjoy the convenience of the Brewers shuttle as well as the outdoor seating area which is great for people and dog watching on warm summer days. As it would turn out, my experiences with their food has been all but positive since my first review. I have had the chicken tender appetizer (which is totally a meal portion..... dinner + leftovers -- score!). I've had their fish fry pretty frequently and its very good, I've had their "$1" burgers, which require a drink purchase and additional charge for extras so it comes out to the price of a regular burger more often than not but thats okay cause it was awesome. I've also had a salad and some other stuff and was pleased with it all.... What I was not pleased with was the subpar margarita I got last weekend which I later found out was $8..... who charges that $8 for a margarita!?! Anyways, with all the positives I've had recently, I'll let the $8 marg slide.... live and learn. *** (Original update 12/7/13): So i went to Jacks last night for drinks and i Have to say... I like it. As far as a weekend pub its got a good vibe, i was surprised to say I actually liked to way it was lit and looked overall (despite what was said in my previous review, maybe the style is more suited for nighttime I guess). I think as a bar this place fits in with Brady and I'd be inclined to say I'll probably go back on a regular basis. Despite all my contradictions, I will maintain that I am not impressed with Jacks as a Restaurant and will not be eating there anytime soon. But I will be drinking there at night.

They've stepped up the food game here and I now consider this place a great place to eat some scrumptious bar bites. Inside is fine but come summer grab a table outside and get ready to watch the Brady St. show!

I've been wanting to check out Jacks since it opened July 25 and got my chance August 5. I was so pleased! My visit was all good. Other Yelpers who reviewed previously had some bad experiences which they attributed to the newness of the place and getting up to speed. Mondays on Brady St. Cater to Service Industry professionals and at 3 in the afternoon the place was relaxed and friendly. I was welcomed to the bar by waitstaff and made friends with Barry (White) the bartender. Immediately you notice two things when you sit down. 1. Lights...which were noticeably absent in the old Crisp. and 2. A better flow to the layout, moving the bar to the middle and adding a much-needed drop ceiling in the center. The menu is limited as the new owners tweak, so it was standard bar fare offerings on my visit. The standard teriyaki wings came out hot and tasty, beautifully presented and smelled wonderful. The bloody mary was adequate in a town that freaks over its bloody mary's so I'm hoping they come up with something special in the future. A bar with this kind of atmosphere is welcome in this neighborhood. I will be back!

We attended a graduation party at Jack's on a Sunday afternoon and it was a good experience. The party was on the second floor, which overlooks the lower level on all four sides in the middle of the room, and also has an outdoor patio. The inside area was a good space for a party. There's an upper bar that was manned by two bartenders. There is plenty of seating, plus an air hockey table and a few other games. Our 4-year-old was able to come along, which was nice. Jack's provided a taco bar and it was tasty. Even my picky husband went back for seconds! My only complaint is that the wood plank floor on the outdoor patio is falling apart and has some large holes. Not only was this not safe for our 4-year-old, but it seems like a generally bad idea for anyplace where people regularly are drinking. Oh, and the ladies room is a typical, stinky bar bathroom. Overall, though, I liked Jack's and I'd go back.

Should have checked in with yelpers but.... had wings on wing night. Avoid. There was so much dry rub you couldnt taste the chicken. Might as well serve the spice shaker, pour it on your palm and lick it. Same flavor. Give your chef a budget and sample a few other places, they do it well. Its a write off, product research! And don't split your celery into shoestring sized sticks, its just plain cheap. Hey, beer was cold and bartenders were nice. They even comp'ed they 3 wings I ate. Good luck.

Very cool bar. Went very early before a Packers game and the bar already had a few people waiting to watch the game. Good food and really cheap prices. Overall good spot. I will return when I'm in town.

I was here about a month ago. My first impression was that the beer menu was straight out of 1998. Lienies, Sam Adams and Blue Moon were the top end. I am guessing the GM is new to WI. Then while ordering we had to ask the waitress to repeat herself a few times since the speakers were mounted directly out from the bar (where they adjust the volume) The Brisket sandwich was decent at best but overpriced. Not to mention that the Brady street area has become more of a dorm bathroom instead of couple's destination. Thanks Jack's for all the BBq & beer vomit on my street.

Great deals! Burger night. Pitchers and a pizza for $10. It's not just good for the price, it's just good.

Similar to the previous Yelper, we were excited to try Jack's but were terribly disappointed. Where to start though, there were so many problems! Walking into Jack's there was no hostess, so we asked the bartender if we could just sit where ever. Of course, he said sure and that he would let a server know that we needed menus. I already had a feeling that things were going to go awry. Surprise, surprise, no server comes to our table - even though there about 5 other servers milling around. Once again, I went up to the bar asking for menus and asking if we should just place an order with the bartender. One of the server's overheard and said she would be with us. We ordered drinks, which came fairly quickly, but it was the food that took close to an hour! We ordered wings and a 'build your own burger' with the tots - nothing that seemed overly complicated. What was really strange is that we had about 4 different waitresses check in at our table at various times, to the point where it was getting annoying. I was always under the impression that at any restaurant/bar servers had designated tables... Finally after waiting for what felt like decades, we got the food. The presentation looked nice, not sloppy like typical bar food. But that is where it ended. With no surprise the burger came missing the sauteed onions, the wings came with ranch instead of blue cheese. The worst part is that all of a sudden all the servers were gone! No one checked to see if we got everything or if the food tasted good. Once again I had to go to the bar and ask for blue cheese and another round of drinks. In regards to taste, the burger seemed like a frozen patty; dry with little flavor. The wings were standard, but left a pool of unappetizing grease. One final comment. The people sitting outside kept using the window as a doorway, awkwardly coming in and out right by our table. One guy didn't even have shoes on, and ordering at the bar barefoot. Gross. Just Gross. I sincerely hope that the people who opened Jack's will care about quality, not just making this into another dive-y Brady Street bar. Otherwise, what a missed opportunity.

How do I begin to explain just how terrible the food at Jacks American Pub is? Shall I compare it to eating airplane food? No because airplane meals are at least hot when you get them. Jacks food is honestly the worst pub food I've ever had and that's saying a lot because I lived in England for a year, a country notorious for its terrible food. The problem I have with Jacks is that's it's relatively easy food to make, nothing too special and yet every time I eat there I'm disappointed and I end up sending something back. My most recent trip I got mozzarella sticks and the chicken bacon ranch wrap. I ended up sending the mozzarella sticks back because they tasted like fish which really put me off. And as a disclaimer I must note that I NEVER send anything back when I go out to eat. It's only ever been at Jacks. So when I received my chicken bacon ranch wrap I could only taste lettuce and tomato and little extra crunchy pieces of bacon. With every bite my teeth felt as if one would chip at any second. The wrap looks huge so I expected it to be filled with chicken but it was seriously lacking in that department. I wanted to tell the waitress to just take it off the bill and throw it out because it was an inedible, disgusting excuse for a wrap but I just ate my waffle fries and pouted.. When it comes to the beer selection it's kind of sad that a Wisconsin bar is missing so much. It's kind of just basic, which isn't bad but when you've got a place like World Of Beer across the street, ya gotta up your game a little bit. The positive thing I like about Jacks is the waitstaff. They're always friendly and the service is fast so I always tip because it's not their fault the food is disgusting. The only reason I went to Jacks as much as I have is because of Trivia Night but I think my friends and I will be looking elsewhere from now on.

The server had no personality nor experience .. I ordered a burger mushroom and Swiss burger medium. I got something out of horror movie , the burger was well done, and had bacon and cheddar cheese. I would understand if the place was actually busy , but I was the only one at the bar the place was empty I was there at 5 pm. Horrible food
