The huevos rancheros was a nice surprise with beans and chili and I sampled my daughter's pancakes and they were amazing. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Outstanding service and friendly place. I also loved the artwork by Gene Wesley on the walls and mural on the side of the building.

Stopped in here on a business trip. The BEST pancakes I've ever had in a restaurant. Bar none. Fresh hot coffee that's always topped off. Very friendly and engaging staff make an out-of-towner feel right at home. Very reasonable prices. (Cash only don't forget!) Would go back if I'm out this way again in a heartbeat.

Stopped in on Saturday morning while visiting from out of town. Have heard people rant and rave about the food here. Not a surprise that every table was full, we were offered a seat at the counter or share a table with ither guests. First impression of this place made me a little leary, but that soon went away after sitting down at the counter. I got a homey feel as I looked around while trying to decide what to order. The menu is small with the basic items that they seem to give their own twist on. We ordered omelets, which come with homemade toast and fresh fruit. Everything was very good, especially the coffee. The fruit was fresh ( cut up apples, oranges, kiwi, melons and grapes. There was a bit of sticker shock when we saw our bill, but for a quick quality breakfast it was worth it. Will stop back when I am in the area again.

This is a small diner with a limited menu, open for breakfast and lunch only. But you won't be sorry you stopped in. I didn't have the experience of the other reviewers who mentioned slow service, because within ten minutes of taking my order, my breakfast was on the table, hot and perfectly cooked. I ordered the peasant omelet. It was a little different than I was used to in that it had meat where I'm used to a no-meat variety. But I have to admit, I may be a convert. The toast was the bigger "texas toast" variety. The table had a small bowl of what tasted like homemade strawberry preserves that was a perfect accompaniment. I especially liked the fruit that came with the meal. It was nice surprise. The portions were pretty large and it was good that I was hungry. I'd hate to have wasted it. There are only a few tables here, ranging from a two-top to a ten or twelve-top, so I can understand how this could easily become a go-to place for a group wanting a place where they won't get lost in the crowd. Despite all the tables being full, the waitress managed to keep up with everything, making sure the coffee was topped off, and no-one had to wait too long for their food, coffee, or change.

I ordered a piece of pecan pie to go after a lunch. When I finally got around to digging n later, halfway through I came across a chewy, moist chunk of unidentifiable garbage in the pie. I threw up. Who knows what goes on in that kitchen?

Confession: I haven't eaten here since I was a teenager. Growing up in Marshfield, the KT was a staple. We kind of chuckled at the fact that the menu had never changed (since they opened; 1979?), and there were no (I mean NO) substitutions allowed. Since I was a vegetarian, I always ordered the gigantic fruit salad with honey lemon dressing. Looking at the photos and reading the reviews, it seems the restaurant is essentially unchanged. And that is awesome. I eagerly await brunch there next time I'm in town. Fruit salad for me! :)

OMG, the eggs benedict are to die for! What an absolute hidden gem in tiny Marshfield, WI. If this place was in Denver, or any large city, they would be swamped with biz.

Went for lunch. Great burgers. Great sandwiches. Homemade salsa. Really teeny place so you may have to wait for a table.

Wow! That was kinda cool. Tiny restaurant with "community" seating. Food was good and made from scratch. Limited menu. One pre 11am one post. Fresh fruit had a huge assortment and was a nice touch. Thanks Yelp.... I would have never found this place without you!

I came here when I was traveling through the area for work. I needed to eat lunch and found this place on Yelp. It's super cute and a million times better than stopping at a chain or fast food place. I got a Gilles turkey sandwich with a salad. They bring you a dressing caddy with 3 dressings to choose from, which was pretty cool. And to top it all off, I was in and out in 30 minutes. I will definitely be back next time I'm passing through! P.s. it's cash only now!

Great service, sat quickly and always had a full cup of coffee. The food had fresh fruit and exactly what I wanted. Next time I have to try their pies...

Quaint place. Communal tables. They do not take credit cards.

I am from Marshfield and this has been my favorite restaurant since I can remember. The breakfasts are amazing - eggs benedict is great and so is the peasant omelet that has potatoes, onions and bacon. The lunches are even better - Vern's sandwich with a ton of tuna, cheese and tomato. They use homemade bread for all of their sandwiches and trying the homemade dressing is must! It is amazing! I go home for a couple days at a time and have to go in 2 or 3 times, once for lunch, once for breakfast and once for a daily special, which are always rotating and always really great and different from other things on the menu! The staff are great which makes the service great. The Mochas are a must with fresh whipped cream! I love this place, everyone I know loves this place.

The Kitchen Table is the best place to eat for breakfast or lunch. It's always packed, but the staff always tries to seat you as soon as possible. Their food is homemade and award winning. A great place to get together with friends. Do not leave Marshfield without going to the Kitchen Table!

Do not, I repeat, do not leave Marshfield without eating here for breakfast or lunch. Bring your cash, and you will not be disappointed. This is homestyle cooking, but not at all greasy. You'll leave feeling healthier and happier than when you arrived. The staff is courteous and professional, and the system they have works smoothly and has stood the test of time. If I could live in Marshfield, I would eat here every single day for lunch. It's that good. They take pleasure in serving well-behaved children! If you want to meet the locals, have a seat at one of the communal tables. You may meet the ROMEO's: the Raunchy Old Men Eating Out.

Found this on yelp. Packed when we got there on Saturday morning! Worth the 15 minute wait. Great food, better service. Seemed like everyone was local! Don't miss it

Such a cute place - lots of locals catching up and hanging out, home made jams and salsa on the table. Service was fast and friendly and prices were great. Very happy to have breakfast here on a work trip.

Since other reviews demanded that we stop here on our way through Marshfield, we decided to give it a shot...in spite of the cash only requirement (c'mon!). We were greeted by friendly staff and seated in a quaint little book by the window. The place was jumping with what appeared to be locals. I was surprised to find that any sandwich on the limited menu started around $8 (this is with only a side of no frill potato chips); albeit, you could get salad or fruit as a side...but who wants that with a burger or BLT? We ordered a BLT and cheeseburger for lunch...it was ok, but nothing to write home about or inspire a return visit. Long story-short, quaint, good service, but overpriced and underwhelmed.

A favorite comfortable cosy place for breakfast. You need to get their fresh made salsa to top everything but their pie.

A small place that has something other than fried food found in the rest of the state- everything is specially made even the salad dressings!!!

I ate here on a couple of different occasions while visiting Marshfield. The food is delicious, the service is outstanding. The bread can't be beat! Desserts are fantastic! It gets pretty busy in here, but the locals are friendly and don't seem to mind sharing a table.
(5)Miles B.
Wow, what a terrific spot. I was warned ahead of time that it could be very busy but it wasn't bad when we arrived. This is a very special place where the people are friendly and they really care about their food. Excellent food, excellent service. This will be my main stop for breakfast / brunch any time I stop by Marshfield again. I have been to just about every family style place in the area and this one beats them. I am surprised there are not more reviews on this restaurant because it is a well-known secret with the "locals".

AMAZING place for breakfast or lunch. If you're in town for only one day, stop here! Saturday morning there's oat cakes (only if you get there early!). Try the Rueban when it's on special. Family-style seating. Only open for breakfast and lunch.
