Wonderful Sunday Brunch. Overall food was Amazing!! Its not a huge buffet but they offer everything we want in a good quality brunch. We were not as lucky with our server. She was never around and never took our plates away. I had to pile them up on the side and call her to bring me more coffee and juice. She sounded like a robot trying to be polite and repeat what she was trained to say to the guests But still, it is worth to try this place. I highly recommend.

Amazing brunch. Smoked shrimp, muscles, walleye best we've had. I loved salmon (wife thought just good). Roasted portobello and little bruschettas were special and lastly the French toast and deserts were also some of the best we've had. Pricey @$30+/person but if you're looking to splurge - well worth it! Great mimosas included. 4.5 overall

OMG OMG OMG. This place was AAAAAA-MAZING. First, the staff is SO polite and attentive. You feel like a guest in their house. They treat you like royalty. My wife and I had dinner and Sunday brunch buffet. Our dinner was off the chart. The butternut squash soup, the meat platter, the char, and the short ribs. One better than the next. The short ribs were the best Ive ever had. If you can find me a better short rib, Ill pay you $100. A huge portion of the most tender short ribs. They give you a knife, which I found funny. I could cut those with my finger. SO tender. The carrots and brussels sprouts were divine. OK, now brunch buffet. What can I say? Creme brûlée french toast. Shrimp. SOme of the best prime rib ever. CHEESY. HASH BROWN. CASSEROLE! Amazing pastries, chicken salad, eggs, sausage, and on and on. The only downside was that we had a short time to eat because of our spa schedule. But maybe thats good, because I could have ate for hours and gained 20 pounds. I wanted to challenge the french toast chef to see if he could make it faster than I could eat it. Thank You Wisconsin Room for an amazing birthday weekend for my wife. Cant wait to come back!

We had breakfast there 2 days in a row during our stay. No dinners. We loved everything we had. Today I had short rib hash and eggs w/ sage hollendaise.-best ever! The dining room is half its size during the wk and then they open a curtain and make it larger on weekends. They also serve a buffet along w. their regular menu on weekends.

We went for the Friday Seafood Buffet and wow everything was delicious and so fresh. Would HIGHLY recommend trying it out. Worth every penny!

Great Friday Night Seafood buffet. Highly recommended, but dress appropriately. No hats, tennies or anything less then business casual.

It was my first time at the resort and I wanted to explore as much as possible so I followed other reviews and decided to stop at The Wisconsin Room for its Library Bar and for the Sunday Brunch Buffet. Overall I found the atmosphere to be close to perfect. It's inviting and timeless. The Library Bar was nice. It had a good selection of liquors; for the connoisseur and the novice. I also appreciated the Wisconsin spirits and beers that were available. Prices were reasonable as well. The staff was attentive and the drinks were good, but what really makes me give five stars (aside from the atmosphere) was the brunch buffet. I'm trying to think of a similar brunch I've been to and I cannot think of that many, except for some in California. This blows them all out of the water. The spread was phenomenal; covering the usual, but including some nice additions as well. Everything tasted delicious. The stations were all well stocked and the staff was very attentive, especially considering it's a buffet. It was a leisurely two hour brunch and the perfect way to conclude our stay at The American Club.

The good was really good and the service was excellent. It's a great dinner spot when your staying at the American club plus you don't have to go outside

My husband and I went here for our one dinner in Kohler while visiting the spa for my birthday. There was a lot of confusion regarding our reservation, but I don't know if that's the fault of the staff at the Inn on Woodlake where we stayed or the staff at the restaurant. Luckily, it worked out, and we were able to get in only a half hour later than we originally desired. I was really excited because I had heard so many great things from clients and friends about the WI Room, and specifically the cheese fondue appetizer. And I have to say, while it wasn't the most amazing culinary experience I've ever had, I quite enjoyed it. The cheese fondue definitely delivered. We ate every last drop, which I was surprised by because it looked like so much cheese when they brought it out. But it was so delicious I actually was tempted to lick the bowl. It was served with a medley of veggies and bread. For my entree I had the Grilled Beef Tenderloin, served with mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, mushrooms, and a tasty red wine sauce. I didn't care for the spinach because it was a little *too* creamy, but the rest of the dish was delish. It was a little too big for me to finish and still have room for birthday cake, so I didn't clean my plate, but I very well could have. I will say the presentation, however, was hilarious. The steak looked like a castle protected by a moat of piped mashed potatoes. Ha! The Stout Chocolate Cake for dessert was rich and creamy. The ice cream that came with it was a perfect pairing. And they were sweet enough to decorate the plate with "Happy Birthday" and light a candle for me. The bartender also did a good job meeting our cocktail desires. They even have St. Germaine at the bar (my fave). Besides forgetting to tell us the specials, our server did a great job. She was there when we needed her, and not there when we didn't. Perfect balance. All in all, if this were a restaurant in Chicago, I don't know if we would go back for a second try, and I probably would have given them 3 stars, but taking into consideration where they are located and the theme/ambiance they are creating, 4 seems appropriate.

Never been disappointed at Kohler, The brunch was exquisite, the food was exceptional even for a late seating at 1PM for Sunday brunch. Foods were being filled as if it were the first seating, oysters on the half shell, mountains of shrimp, Prime rib roasts being carved, and of course the many delightful foods served at The Wisconsin Room. Champagne was abounding and I had a fantastic Bloody Mary with shrimp, cheeses, celery and chipotle covered bacon! You can always expect less then perfection from Kohler.

Great classic American restaurant. Lots of food choices including steaks and other more sophisticated dishes. Great food and service with a classic country style.

The canapes were all fun and delicious, though the ones on crackers may have been sitting out a while, as the crackers seemed a bit stale. Still, with the variety of all the choices, and complexity of each one, they were fantastically delicious. The omelet was made well and of course to order, but dragging that down was the sadness that was the cold roast beef, despite being under a heat lamp and carved when asked! The Caesar salad was quite good and the Crème fraiche horse radish was rather. Of note also was the french toast, which was divine in it's sweetness, and not over the top in serving size. The champagne flowed, as did the coffee, and the waitress, while quite busy, was nothing short of professional, nice, and spot on. Twas a treat as I rarely go to brunch anymore:)

This review is for dinner and brunch. Dinner is 4 stars and brunch is 5++++. The dinner was great. The lettuce wedge could use a little more dressing. The caprese salad was phenomenal. I ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the prime rib and he loved it. I wish they would add lobster and NY strip to the menu. I feel that in a place this expensive you should really have it available. The dessert menu needs to include a chocolate option. I noticed not many people ordered dessert. Probably because the options are not great. The brunch is the best brunch I have ever had. Get the creme brule french toast!

Lovely service, classic room w/high ceilings. We came in on a Friday night which happened to be a seafood buffet night. I wanted to order off the menu, but when I realized there was an entire crudo/raw bar w/oysters, scallops, clams, smoked salmon...I was pleased! There were various cooked items but I did not go for all of that.

We did the Sunday Brunch. It's a buffet. It was 30pp (on 11/17/13) @ 10:30am. It was an truly amazing buffet. Everything they offered was very fresh, flavorful, & memorable. The prime rib (per my hubs) was perfectly seasoned w an amazing run...super tender. Comparable to and in some ways exceeds the Ritz Carlton (ST LOUIS & CHICAGO) spread in terms of consistency in the flavor fulness of each item. Fresh oysters. Lovely canapés. The brûlée the French toast to serve. Salads were good. Desserts were decadent and bite sized perfectness. Nice coffee. Great environment. Casual to spa clothes to dressy. You can where what u want. Which we liked bc we came directly from the spa. Only shortcoming was the omelette. I prefer it French vs American preparation. But for a station it's good. Great price for the package of environment, service & quality of food. We generally get annoyed w buffets bc of the waits, forgettable flavor across dishes (yes even 5 star places), and the empty serving dishes. This place kept everything warm & full seamlessly. Plus the lines were minimal expect for the eggs station which had its peaks. So since eggs are an important part if brunch we couldn't give this place a 5... It's really a 4.5 I overall for our experience.

I had a tough time with this one. The service was great (everyone here our whole visit was SO nice!!). The amuse -- a chilled cranberry soup -- was good. The gnocchi appetizer was just ok. The fried perch was good and the pork tenderloin was very good but a heavy dish. I wasn't blown away by any of the food necessarily. We were given a nice little sweet plate at the end for celebrating our anniversary. It's very old fashioned and feels a bit like a banquet hall. But that's the vibe that people are looking for here I think. If we came back here for dinner on a future visit, that would be fine but I don't think we'd make it a point to and may explore other options like the wine bar.

First off, I hate to give this place a bad review because our overall experience at Kohler was amazing, from the Carriage House to the Spa. Service was over the top fantastic, and we truly enjoyed the other parts of the resort. We went to the Wisconsin Room for Valentine's Day dinner. First off, when we made the reservation, they didn't mention the mandatory $80/$120 pre-fixe menu. This was sort of irritating, as it may have impacted our decision, and we were looking forward to trying other things on the menu. However, the main issue was the food and pace of service. Everything came out incredibly SLOWLY (and for a pre-fixe menu, this seemed especially odd), and not one dish we had was good... specifically, the main entrees. I had scallops, my husband had steak. His meal was basically inedible. It seemed to have been microwaved (the potatoes were a solid, leathery mass) and the steak was overcooked yet cold covered in an unappealing brown gravy. It was an extremely disappointing meal, in a very expensive setting. Something was definitely off with the restaurant, and hopefully they remedy it going forward.

Service during our breakfast was excellent. (Of course Monday mornings in the winter you don't have a big crowd.) Menu selections were rather limited re egg dishes, but everything tasted great especially bacon. Coffee was also excellent. The look and feel of the place is typical of the classic American Club.

Overall the experience was good, just good. When you enter you're greeted by hostesses I believe and you're taken to your table. My guest and I were seated at the far back corner table. It was very crowded and getting up and out was difficult. Our server promptly greeted us and explained the Sunday Brunch buffet. However, as the experience progressed, her upbeat mood went downhill. As part of our birthday celebrations, we were given a card and some truffles, but they were less than pleasantly placed on our tables by our server who seemed less than enthusiastic. Her attitude prevented me from giving this a 5 star experience. The food was good though, except for the fact that the quiche was a little undercooked and somewhat runny, which is not at all the consistency quiche should be. Omelettes and toast/pancakes/waffles were very good.

This was an outstanding experience. The history and elegance of the American Club, and the Wisconsin Room makes the place special and unique. We had a perfect meal. Four of us ate, and everyone loved everything that was served. What a rare treat. Most of the food served is farm to table fresh, and it is perfectly prepared, nicely presented, and done with friendly and professional service. Wine selection is very good. We had Lamb Chops, Pork roast, Prime Filet with perfectly seared scallops, and fresh Char. The bread basket had an excellent selection of breads. The cappuccino was serve hot and large. I tried the no-sugar added Blueberry pie which did not disappoint. All in all a perfect dining experience.

Spending the weekend at the American Club. Had a breakfast from the menu and the Sunday brunch during our stay. The breakfasts from the menu were all very good and included egg, waffle and pancake dishes. The server was friendly and efficient. The brunch was amazing. Just about anything you could want. We tried a variety of items including omelets, cooked to order eggs, sausage, bacon, oysters, cheesy potatoes, smoked fish, shrimp, prime rib, fruit, croissants, pastries, smoothies and more I cannot remember. Everything was excellent. But there is so much it can be frustrating! But if I visit Kohler again I will definitely return.

Was REALLY disappointed with Thanksgiving dinner. It was a buffet. They were "carving" turkey parts - no real turkey. No real pie -- only pumpkin tarts from costco (my son actually cried b/c there was no pie). No housemade desserts at all. Seafood was limp, not on ice -- shrimp was just in a big bowl. Really, all of the food was just low quality and looked unappetizing. My dad did like the bread pudding. Also, our table wasn't ready - that's fine, an opportunity to have a drink in the library... however, there was one bartender for about 50 people. had to wait in a line 5 people deep for about 10 mins. Some people gave up and just left the line. I know this is nit-picky -- but there's a piano in the library, but it was locked closed. There was no music of any kind... just felt like we were all in a big, awkward waiting room. Disappointing service; my son was never offered more milk, water glasses sat empty most of the meal, had to get up and track down out waitress to ask for coffee after the meal -- she seemed very annoyed to return to the table to take coffee orders from the rest of the table. I do like the old school, country club feel of the room. Was glad we had the regular chairs, many people had to sit on old conference room chairs. Really hard to believe how bad everything was.

Brunch here is absolutely delightful. I've been to a fair share of nice brunches, but here's what makes the American Club Wisconsin Room unique: *Oysters - I've never been to a brunch with an Oyster bar. Delicious with creative garnishes *Wild Game Confit Hashbrowns - unique and really savory. Yum. *Perfectly cooked eggs benedict - this never happens in a buffet setting. But the yolks here are all kept perfectly There is a lot more that was good here, but those were the highlights. It is definitely worth it if you are in Kohler for the weekend!

The Wisconsin Room (original name, guys) is most certainly the most popular dining destination at The American Club resort. It really has nothing to do with it being the best or the tastiest - although their brunch *is* spectacular - it's popularity stems more-so out of convenience sake. The Wisco Room is the only dining spot on site open for all meals: breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Yes, it's the focal dining room and was, in fact, the main dining hall for the original immigrant workers living on site in the early 1900's. That's neat, right? While lunch and dinner are definitely viable and yummy (think classic Americana fare favorites like chicken, steak, fish, salads, soups, etc.), the highlight here is truly Sunday Brunch!! Oh yeeeaah, Baby!! The buffet is so very fabulous and even rivals my personal fav, The Four Seasons Sunday brunch!! All of the standards you've come to love are here... the ubiquitous omelette bar, chef's carving station, eggs benedict, crab benedict, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit and cheese, pastries, petit fours... and then of course, they throw in a few signature treats.... like the 'cold table', a veritable fantasy of fresh oysters, crab, shrimp, scallops, smoked salmon, walleye... and of course, the bruléed french toast made to order with every sweet side you can imagine. Cinnamon apples, whipped cream, pecans and hot fudge? Done and Done! Yeah, I'm a glutton for cavities even though I still haven't figured out yet how to maximize my brunch visit into more than 2 meager rounds of servings. Note to my stomach: friggin' stretch please?!? Mama needs to devour! Free-flowing Mimosas are complimentary (as they should be) and service is positively top-notch... so what more could you ask for? Oh, cheddar biscuits and gravy, you say? Well, you're in luck, they've got those too!

I went here during a recent stay at the American club. We went for the breakfast, brunch and Friday night seafood buffet. Breakfast and brunch were amazing. The seafood buffet left a bit to be desired. The oysters and shrimp were good, but the rest of the seafood was so-so. The non seafood items were ok. Next time I think I will stick to the breakfast offerings.

Went to the Friday night seafood buffet. There was a large selection of items. They had amazing shrimp cocktail and great oysters. The appetizer selection was good and I scored some awesome little grilled cheese squares with mushrooms, tomatoes and other yummy stuff. The entrees items were yummy and for me the winners were the salmon and the fish n' chips. The dessert table had a decent selection but nothing jumped out at me as outstanding. There was a orange chocolate mousse cake that was good. I normally don't like fruit in my chocolate but this was well done. It is a buffet and people are buzzing around the tables like flocks of hungry buzzards. That said it wasn't too difficult to snag what you had your eye on when you wanted it. All in all a good meal and the price was pretty good. If you are visiting Kohler then you should chichi it out.

review is of the sunday brunch buffett and it is f-a-b-o-l-o-u-s. like the rapper. we went around christmas, so the room was beautifully decorated. our server was very friendly and attentive, but didn't bother us. the brunch comes with coffee, tea, OJ, and mimosas. i had no idea the mimosas were included, a very nice touch. the options are endless - seafood, made to order omelets, specialty pancakes and french toast, pasta salads, cured meat & cheeses, fruits, pastries, bacon, sausage, stratta, eggs benedict, eggnog smoothies, pies, cakes, muffins, etc etc etc! the buffet is truly overwhelming and totally amazing. this is a must-do for brunching at kohler. the only thing that we found odd was that apparently "appropriate attire required" includes packers jerseys and sweatpants. only in wisconsin.

Oh my why is my belly not big enough? That was the one thought going thru my head during Sunday brunch at The Wisconsin Room. From a table filled with smoked fish, to another filled with salads, to a line of sumptuous hot entree items, to an omelette station to the beloved creme brulee french toast station, my belly was in divine overload. I have been to a host of Sunday buffets and this one was probably one of the best Sunday brunches I have ever been to. If you're in the area you MUST stop by and experience it!

Ate here for dinner. They have a small menu, but are very accommodating with substitutions. Hostess and waitress were friendly, quick, and professional. Food was 4 star level. Vegetable and potato offerings were quite good, but have had much better steak at less expensive places. Atmosphere is upscale and old school classy.

Ambiance: Warm old school Yale feel. Luscious carpeting. Walking down the stairs into the dining room I felt like Eliza Doolittle must have felt at the embassy ball and was waiting to be properly announced. We lucked out with what I believe was the best table in the place, an intimate two top the abutted the French doors that lead into the courtyard. As the sun set on the scene the gigantic moon flowers bloomed open and the fireflies gave a magical quality that seemed too good to be true. The live music was a nice accompaniment to the dining area. Beverages: Huge wine list as well as a full bar will keep even the snobbiest of imbibers quite happy. Food: I honestly don't know where to start. We went on a Friday evening for their incredible seafood buffet, the Wisconsin Room's take on the ubiquitous Friday Fish Fry. Banished to the bastions of Applebee's was the typical fish fry of greasy cod and limp potato pancakes in favor of inspired fish entrees in delectable sauces. Raw oysters as far as the eye could see, so fresh I wanted to cry with joy. The cheese selection was well represented with aged, young and pungent cheeses. The fried squid was the best I have ever had. The batter was so light and crisp simply looking at it caused it to burst into a flakey eruption. The sushi rolls were prepared quite well and were extremely fresh. I ate mussels by the pound. They had the most heavenly squares of bread spread with bleu cheese and topped with finely minced melons, it took my breath away and I am pretty certain I devoured enough of these to keep the kitchen busily replenishing them. Oh and the sea scallops made right in front of you, so cruel they only let you order them one at a time. I looked positively insane going up time after time like Oliver Twist and whimpering "May I please have more?" Luckily each time my begging was rewarded with a perfectly seared and seasoned sea scallop. My evening fell into a haze of seafood goodness. I could barely eat dessert....barely. I unfortunately have forgotten what was on the dessert table but I do know it was quite a spread and had many interesting dishes. I left the Wisconsin room stuffed to bursting. It's a wonderful excuse to dress up, drive out to Kohler and pig out although with your pinky finger raised and your most blue blooded of attitude. Staff: Impeccable, professional, amazing and top notch. I commend the Wisconsin room on its staff, everyone we encountered was polite, knowledgeable, and fleet footed.

Brunch today in the Wisconsin Room of the American Club was simply fantastic! The seafood table with white fish, smoked salmon, oysters, shrimp...everything was fresh and delicious. The best part is being able to try such a wide variety of selections that perhaps you wouldn't have an opportunity to try otherwise, but also knowing the brunch standards will be available. I always get a kick out of the "smoothie shooters", little shot glasses of the smoothie flavor of the day. The omelet station, eggs Benedict, bacon, sausage, French toast with a berry compote were all very tasty. I was a tad bit disappointed in the prime rib, chicken piccata and potato casserole - they lacked the seasoning and flavor that I expected. DO NOT FORGET to save room for dessert! The flourless chocolate torte and bread pudding with warm carmel bourbon sauce are outstanding! And of course, all this can be washed down with juice, coffee...even a Mimosa (or two). This was a great way to start off our Sunday in Kohler!

The Friday Seafood Buffet at the Wisconsin Room offers a lot of variety. You can always look at the currently weekly menu on the Kohler Site. This week was Leinenkugel's inspired. Since my girlfriend and I are not beer drinkers, I was a bit worried. It turned out to be unfounded. The use of beer was noticeable in a few items and just an after thought in other dishes. We had a very nice table for two next to the window overlooking the courtyard. Our server was excellent. Polite, funny, and crisp. Our silverware was changed every time we left the table and our water was always full. It was the level of service you'd expect for one of the nicer places you can eat in Wisconsin. The food included shark, skate wing, fresh oysters, scallops to order... I could list all the items but you would be better off visiting the Kohler Site as I mentioned to see what they are offering on any given week. The quality on the buffet items was very high. The temperatures were all correct expect for the deep friend calamari which was cold. The offerings were deep. I went back six times and ate small samples of everything and still didn't get through all of it. For $32 a plate, I felt it was a good value for the offering provided. It should be noted we went during a major PGA Event and it was almost empty. I would have expected the exact opposite situation. Regardless of the lack of guests, it was nice to never stand in line and they kept the food flowing out of the kitchen.

My husband and I ate here on Thanksgiving. We had a 4-course dinner and there was a set menu. Everything, from the service to the ambiance to the food, was wonderful. We plan on eating at the Wisconsin Room again when we are in Kohler. The first course was a soup. I had the butternut squash soup and my husband had the tomato bisque. Both were excellent. Ther server poured the hot soup fresh into our bowls. The second course was a salad. I had a harvest salad, with a unique combination of cranberries, walnuts, mesclun greens, and apple cinnamon vinaigrette. My husband had a small caesar salad, which was fresh and made at the restaurant. Again, both were excellent. The third course was our entree. My husband had the beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes & sauteed spinach and I had a turkey dinner with mashed sweet potatoes & hericots verts. The meat was very tender and the sides were fresh and prepared well. The fourth course was dessert. I had the pumpkin pie and my husband had the apple struedel. You can tell that the items are all freshly made in the kitchen and the service was impressive. Dress here is business casual, a bit on the dressy side. The room itself was the former cafeteria for the immigrant workers of Kohler. The high ceilings are wonderful, the decor is warm and inviting, the chairs are comfortable. The windows are large and amazing. Wonderful stained glass with the Kohler signature logo in the window.

We dined for dinner on June 14, 2010; we found that the setting and service were stellar; however, the food was uninspiring and pedestrian - perhaps brunch would be better!

during my one night stay at the American Club I had dinner at this hotel restaurant and the food was amazing. i should add that while this is a hotel restaurant the hotel is five star itself, so this is no just the usual hotel restaurant. actually the restaurant room was the main eating hall for the immigrants that worked in kohler for kohler back in the days ... so back to the food. i had the wild boar with asparagus and spaetzle (i would have liked to have more but i wasn't that hungry) so based purely on this dish i would say this restaurant is as good as any restaurant in my hometown (DC), while not being overly pricey. the main course was $33 which i think would have cost at least $10 to 15 more in DC and would have been a smaller portion. on top of the great food, i have to say the service was also great and friendly. so if you are in kohler and are looking for a great meal definitely go to the wisconsin room (and when you are there ask the staff about the history of it, really interesting).
