The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Generally when I am stopping at the Phoenix, I am getting breakfast. They have a good selection of items to order and the food is good. During this past visit I ordered a Meatlover's Skillet with 3 over easy eggs and white toast. Our service in the mornings is always great. However, we always end up sitting next to or near the owner or manager who is usually sitting around in the dining room drinking coffee and watching tv or reading the paper. Kind of wish he would find somewhere else to hang out. We didn't have to wait long for our food, The Meatlover's Skillet has bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns and cheddar cheese. Smothered in your choice of egg. It's very good and I would recommend it for sure. The prices are ok, but may be a little on the high side. It was $10 for a skillet with toast. It's a good place to stop if you are passing though and need some home cooked food with good service, but I wouldn't make it a destination spot.

Went for dinner tonight, cause couldn't think of another place where we could get breakfast for dinner and we hadn't been there in a while. Big mistake! Food took an extremely long time to be prepared (husband got grilled chicken sandwich, Granddaughter got chocolate chip pancakes and I had two egg breakfast, no meat) considering when we placed order we were only ones in the restaurant at 6:15 on a Sunday nite. When it finally arrived husband's chicken was burned and granddaughter had complained hers did not taste good but she ate anyway, when I looked at bottom of piece she hadn't finished it turned out it was very overdone and I bet that's why she complained about taste, mine was fine. Waitress didn't know what to do or say when we showed her and complained, said they would remake but we had no time left at that point. Mentioned to owner when we were paying that the food was burned and service was so slow and she said...... "sorry". Hmmm.... not good enough, would never go there again, which is a shame cause there are so few american/family restaurants these days.

Okay, the foods a touch bland here, but they do have salt, pepper and ketchup guys!!! I think this place gets a bad rap. They don't have a proper HWY 50 entrance because the city messed them up!!! They will probably work on their parking lot once construction is over. I hope the pre-1990's decor also, lol. I had the mushroom omlette and added swiss cheese and english muffin. YES, the omlette was fluffy!!! OMG the bluberry cheesecake was AMAZING!!! My poor waiter was harassed by two old ladies and returned their food...that's just plain rude, its not his fault the cook didn't get it right!!! I felt sorry for him and gave him a five dollar tip.

Stopped here off the highway on a trip from Milwaukee to Chicago. This ended up being our stop because it was close to the exit and we couldn't find the place we were actually looking for. I guess that says something about their location, it brought us in! I think the median age that Saturday morning for breakfast was around 80 years old and we were easily the youngest people in the joint. A large group of old ladies were just clearing out, so the place was nearly empty by the time we got served anyway. The breakfast menu was quite extensive with very reasonable prices, nothing to special though. We were greeted by our waitress and served our coffee very promptly. I couldn't believe how quickly our food came out. Eggs Benedict for two. Not great, but definitely OK. I've had better, but I guess I should have known what I was getting into. The Phoenix Family Restaurant is pretty much your generic family restaurant, serving pretty much your generic restaurant food. Great for the older crowd that likes to come in and order the same meal every time, or not have anything too exciting that might upset a fragile digestive system. It's doubtful that I'll return, but if the situation called for it, at least I'd know what I was getting myself into.

Was really hoping this would be a nice family restaurant but this place is just awful from the food to the decor and even the waitress. We ordered an appetizer and she never brought us plates. When she brought my soup it was the wrong one so she took it back, brought the correct one but instead set it down in front of my son and just walked away. Our dinner was so awful we didnt even eat it. I will NEVER go to this place again! What a bad $35 mistake.

If I'm out by 94 this is a great break fast spot. Al the bk is good. Gyro and eggs is great. They will make you a gyro and fetta cheese omelet. Bacon and fetta omelet is also great. They never mess up the order when I get creative with the dish and never give me a hard time about it. The menu is big but some times I want to twist the menu. Staff is always great. For bk I like Marina garden or Phoenix period but I wil always new places.

Admittedly I am a foodie. I even admit I can border on food snob at times. Not because it gains me anything, but because over time I have learned what works and what doesn't. For a long time I have maintained that success in restaurants is as easy as doing even ONE thing well. ONE thing done well will bring people in even if the rest of the menu is not so good. I have driven past the Phoenix many times and mentally classified it as blandorama, but while perusing the Keno News dining ads I read Lamb Shanks Every Wednesday. This sounded unique, unique is good.. so we stopped in tonight..Wednesday and.. no Lamb Shanks. The waitress seemed to be unfamiliar with the item. So we did the settle for less shuffle and chose otherwise. A steak sandwich (rare please) for me and the Athenian Pasta for my guest which had gyro meat with spaghetti and marinara sauce. My sandwich was waaaay over cooked, fatty, gristle laden and the Athenian Pasta was dry with a pile of dry gyro meat next to it with melted cheese on it. What's that old saying about going with your first hunch??
