Having been here many times before, my wife and daughter ordered breakfast at 5:15pm. They said it was very good as usual. I had the catfish dinner with hush puppies and fries. Other than slightly soggy fries, it was extremely good. Our server Caitlin, was always johnny on the spot. Never needed to look for her for anything. Many friendly and helpful employees on the merchandise floor as well. :)

Kids maiden voyage...... Service was prompt, food was wonderful. Raspberry lemonade made my kids smile!! A little disappointed that the servers continue to ask you if you want sausage or bacon like it is included with your meal [not an extra]. Sometimes it is included but every time I have been there, my entree or meal ,it was not included and I had to inquire if it was extra...to a disappointed response of .."oh just a little bit" I expressed my displeasure multiple times on my visits and it still continues. Not bad for a chain restaurant. Lots of old store fixture, product packing memorobilia. The late breakfast was great. Though the grits were so-so. A nice country-like store with lots of gifts, candy, etc.

Two reasons - Nostalgia and value. I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in ages - I truly can't remember the last time. Tonight was one of those night where we randomly picked ourselves up off the couch and went on a mini road trip. Yes, it's a chain, but it was exactly how I remembered it. I knew what to expect, and it was time the boys had their first CB experience. We closed out the Pleasant Prairie Outlets and headed for a late dinner nearby. The good thing about coming here is the large menu with lots of options. Kids menu is a fantastic value, and I think most everything on it was around $5 for a meal with a drink. Being bad parents, we loaded the boys up with root beer (bottles are extra), pancakes, and bought them Jelly Belly jelly beans and Cracker Jacks for tomorrow's dessert. My vegetarian hubby ordered a custom egg white omelet with broccoli, tomatoes, and green pepper and a side of hash browns, grits, and a bran muffin. They don't have omelets on the menu, but they made it special for him - $8. Great value. I ordered up chicken and dumplin's, cheese grits, veggies, and biscuits. Okay, so nothing beats my grandma's chicken and dumplings, and the cheese grits were surprisingly a bit bland, but the biscuits were light and fluffy and how a biscuit should be. Again, a great amount of food that I was able to share with everyone...and of course there was plenty left over for another whole meal. Perhaps one of my favorite things about the night was the triangle golf tee game on the table (a great memory from my childhood) and the gift shop. The boys went crazy looking at everything. Classic candy, fun and just beyond cheezy gifts, and random kitchen towels, kids toys, etc. Fun experience for families, and our meal came to under $40. Score!

There are no Cracker Barrels in Seattle, so my friend insisted we stop at one. It was weird to me that when you walk in you're in a store, and the restaurant is a part of the store, but I was able to check out some knick knacks before my first meal in Wisconsin. The waitress was adorable. She had the biggest smile when talking with us. She recommended a few things for us, and we ended up getting the country dinner that was like $8. We chose corn muffins, fried chicken with mashed potatoes, and apples. This was the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. It was so tender. The food was good, but the mood of the room felt a bit odd. Maybe it was because my friend and I were Asian? We definitely saw and felt a lot of stares during our time in Cracker Barrel and Wisconsin in general. Paying was a little unusual, too. We had to go back to the store side to pay our bill at the same register you pay for your knick knacks. Same with going to the restroom during your meal; you had to walk back into the store side to go to the bathroom. Don't know if this type of restaurant-store combo works..

We stopped here on the way to Six Flags. We were seated fairly quickly but our server was slow to take our order. During the course of taking the order, she repeated it back to us several times to confirm the order. She still managed to forget parts of it and had to come back to ask for clarification. I ordered the egg beaters and fruit. To my disgust the blueberries in my fruit bowl were moldy! After finally flagging down our waitress to show her, she said, "Awww Sweetie, sorry about that." After a few more minutes she came back to tell me she told her manager but he was busy bussing tables. We waited for a few more minutes but he never came to address the issue. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION AGAIN!!!

Stopped by here on a whim coming back home from Lake Geneva just now because I never have been to a Cracker Barrel. THE NEGATIVES: - You need to give your name for a table immediately upon arrival in their store area which is packed to the brim with merchandise (a way to sucker you to buy something while waiting for a table). - While eating, you need to leave the restaurant area to go to the main store area to use the washroom, while getting glared at by waiting patrons, AND while doing acrobatic moves trying to climb around and over people and merchandise -Their bathroom was a DIRTY blast from the 80's past w its decor. -Our server, Alle got the hubby's order wrong and brought him BEANS instead of wheat toast (because they sound SO similar while ordering, riiiiiight). -I had yet to find her to beg for more water and a box. The pluses: My burger was ok and the hubby's biscuits and gravy were ok. Those two factors equal one star (a rating which I RARELY give-view my previous reviews).

I had the BEST BREAKFAST EVER!!!! Uncomparably fresh! Tastes as if you cooked it at home. The orange juice tasted freshly squeezed!!! YUM!! Dennys and ihop taste like microwave food compared to this!! Totally recommend this place if you want great service and top of the line meals at great low prices!! Plus ut has a really neat gift shop type of store... totally ADORABLE!!

LOVE the campfire chicken dinner! I think I had it 2 or 3 times during my stay in Kenosha. Comfort food supreme! We have no Cracker Barrel in CA, so it's always a treat for me to come here. Love the gift shop and always end up buying a shirt and some tourist crap here. Oh, and some gifts to take home with me. I'm a sucker, go ahead and punch me.

Slow service. Awesome store but kind of pricey. I got chicken and dumplings once and the chicken was under cooked and the gravy was super thick. You can play games while you wait for your food. Always busy.

I hadn't been to a Cracker Barrel since I was a kid, but went back on a whim for breakfast recently. I'm not sure how this is passable as food. Maybe eating at nicer places has made me a snob, but I felt nothing but regret after eating here. Everything felt/tasted like it had come out of a freezer, the gravy for the biscuits was thick and gelatinous, the eggs were cooked to hell, and the bacon... Is this actually bacon? Seriously. Last time I checked, bacon was a crunchy and crispy breakfast meat that is salty and tasty. What I received was a wet and limp slice of floppy and chewy meat that just tasted like grease. The service was friendly and the prices are great (you get what you pay for?), but if I don't go back to Cracker Barrel for another 10 years, it'll be too soon.

As the saying goes for chain restaurants...it's not all that, but compared to other chain restaurants when you are on the road, this chain is by far one of the better and it's reliable. The food is of good quality and the service is always friendly and accommodating. You can't go wrong with the chicken and dumplings and fried apples are a favorite. Breakfast entrees are served all day and when you're in the mood...you're in that mood!! Don't expect good omelettes but eggs done to order with their baked hash-browns are really tasty. I don't usually like biscuits and gravy much and the gravy appears too thick for me, but their pancakes are good. It's a family favorite when we're on the road.

We are suckers for Cracker Barrel. Hands down. If we end up traveling out of town (we don't have one close-by -- the closest is about 40 minutes away) and there's a CB location, chances are we're going to eat there. My favorite day to go is on Sunday for their homestyle chicken meal -- it is DELICIOUS!!! But you can't go wrong with their meatloaf, the chicken fried chicken, or the chicken & dumplins. I haven't come across anything on the menu I didn't like. OH - and order the baby carrots as a side. They are tender and juicy and PERFECT. My husband and my son are big fans of the fried okra. And both my kids like to sit down & enjoy a game of checkers while they wait for their food.

My family of three really liked this restaurant. The fireplace was wonderful. We got two house salads, two chicken pot pies, and a kid's mac and cheese. My son, who is very particular about mac, loved and tolerated the mac and cheese, which is nothing short of a miracle. The chicken pot pies were so big for me, in addition to the salad, I had to bring 3/4 of it home! The pot pies were very tasty and filling. The house salad for only $3.99 was a steal, super plump tomatoes and fresh veggies. Cracker Barrel's crackers are so thick and great I have to find them myself online! The service was top-notch, she did everything for us quickly and nicely. Very reasonable prices too! My only complaint (-1) is the chairs were rock hard and painful. I have a medical problem and can not sit on hard chairs and forgot my pad. Next time I won't forget! I wish we had one close to where we live in Chicago!

Went there last weekend for dinner. I thought it would be really good but it was disappointing. Their Mac and cheese was not good. I'm 7 so I know my Mac and cheese. There were burnt parts all over it. and their chicken strips were just ok. I would give them (the chicken strips) a 7 out of 10. The waitress was very nice and she was pretty.

Cracker Barrels are Cracker Barrels whether you're in Bristol, WI or Stuart, FL. It serves a need and can fill you up pretty good. For the first time I actually had one of the omelet choices (ham & cheese). It really was flat and didn't impress me at all. I'm usually in the pancake camp here and dk why I switched, but it wasn't that great. Hard to review a place like this as the servers are really friendly and helpful and usually are reliable. Everyone seemed to like their dishes in my party which was good. I'll never get an omelet again though.

Came here on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. I've only ever been to one other Cracker Barrel restaurant so I haven't had a chance to try a lot of their foods. On this particular visit, I ordered the chopped steak that came with swiss cheese and mushrooms. I also had a side of macaroni and cheese and corn bread. The chopped steak was okay. It was better than the one I had before at a different restaurant, and I was kind of worried I was not going to like it. The mac & cheese wasn't anything special. I think it could've been better. Their cornbread did not live up to my standards of the way I think corn bread should taste. I had corn bread before, and their corn bread had a more buttery flavor. I didn't like their biscuits either. I even put some butter on there, which didn't help much. My bf had their Thursday special which was turkey and dressing, which looked much more appetizing than my meal. Maybe next time I go here, I will try something else. Other than the food, it is a nice environment. You really feel like you're in the country. As soon as you pull up in the parking lot, they have a lot of wooden rocking chairs and benches out front and there are always people sitting on them. This day that we went, there were a group of older people just chilling outside. Something I would image you would see if we lived in the country. They have a store inside before you go into the actual restaurant. The store has a lot of cool things that look like they can be collectibles and old candies. I would definitely visit again. Too bad there isn't one closer to me.

I took true country cooking for granted when I lived in TX. Cracker Barrel is the only place where I can truly get my southern fried food fix. Every time I walk up to this restaurant, there are people sitting out front playing chess and rocking in ugly rocking chairs. Ok, I guess they're not ugly, they're just not for me. The front door opens into a country store with lots of cool stuff, especially at Christmas time. You will almost always have to sign in and wait a bit to be seated. There is nowhere to really wait for your name to be called. So everyone is in a mosh pit getting pushed around by people whose names are called before yours, or people going to the restroom or wanting to pay their check or wanting to get to the cupcake candle or Necco candy behind you. Once your name is called, your positive customer experience can begin. The food is fresh and prepared to perfection. I don't know of anywhere else to get such a great chicken fried steak. The chicken fingers are hand breaded and cooked to perfection. The dinner rolls and apple butter are simple, but truly amazing. Breakfast is good and very cheap. While I'm not a fan of grits, if you are, they got 'em!!

Coming to Cracker Barrel reminds me of the day I first came to this land on a train full of steam with a pocket full of dreams. The simple country folk with their rustic charm and liberal use of prepositions at the ends of sentences set me right at ease as they showed me their humble country store, filled to the brim with ruffly hewn rocking chairs. The food was traditional rural fair, served with promptness and smiles. For the modern road weary traveler, though, the lack of variety may be challenging. The table games and bucolic decorations give a welcome change of pace from modern Starbucks life, and provide a welcome escape from awkward table conversation. If you're on the road suffering from the existential isolation of modern life, stop by the Cracker Barrel and get in touch with your American roots.

Somehow in 26 years on this Earth, I've never been to a Cracker Barrel. Then, in the span of 24 hours, I went twice. A friend and I made a short trip to Chicago for Saturday night, dropping off someone at O'Hare and then heading to a party. As it turns out, my friend is obsessed with Cracker Barrel, and wanted to show the friend we were taking to O'Hare (a native of Germany on her way back home) a slice of ridiculous American excess. Having had a late lunch, I just got dessert, going with the chocolate Coca Cola cake because they were out of apple dumplings. Bummer! The cake was really tasty and home-style, though, and definitely southern with its insanely sweet icing. On our way back from Chicago, my friend wanted to stop again, as he rarely has the excuse to go. I got chicken tenders with mashed potatoes, fried applies, and cornbread. I was very, very pleased. The food isn't anything special or unique, but it's done well for a good price (about $7.50 for more food than I could eat and of good quality). I don't think anyone goes to Cracker Barrel looking for exciting new cuisine or an authentic local experience, but it can definitely go on the list of dependable, familiar places.

Good food, Excellent service! My wife asked for a slice of chocolate cake today. They had run out and the new batch was too hot to serve yet. So that she wasn't disappointed, the manager came over and said he had put a piece into an ice bath to cool and it would be ready soon.

First time at this Kenosha location....Just like all the other ones Ive been to. Food is great, service is good and even with our party of 8 we got seated within 15 min. with a long waiting list. The chicken fried steak never disappoints with gravy and mashed potatoes. I also like to shop around while waiting for our table or sit out on the rocking chairs outside when its warmer.

There are barrels on the outside and I noticed that there are crackers in the inside (if you order soup), but neither one makes me really go out of my way to eat here. Cracker Barrel is a chain. A chain of restaurants that are conveniently located near key intersections of major highways. These key intersections do not necessarily represent places where one would normally spend time, other than to eat and get back on the road. Ah. The "joy" of the Cracker Barrel. I have limited expectations when I visit chain-based eateries along the highway. I live in Kenosha and, one Sunday morning, I went to a diner that I frequent but found too busy. I was famished by this time and went for the easy win - Cracker Barrel - close by and rarely packed. I got to the restaurant and, to my surprise, it was a bit busier than I expected, however, I was seated within three minutes. If you have never been in a Cracker Barrel, you must first walk through the retail store (full of kitschy goods representing "old Americana") and present yourself to the host. Upon walking into the restaurant, one is "transformed" into a wood furniture extravaganza reminiscent of an eatery from California in the early 1800s (or what I perceive to be one - I am not quite that old - yet). Service was relatively slow - it took a few minutes for someone to come out and offer me anything to drink - the person who came over seemed to lose the bet for the "1-up" at a "4-up" table. Her demeanor did not suggest someone who wanted me to walk away happy. WIth eyes larger than my stomach, I ordered the Country Boy Breakfast. The CB, as I call it (for want of a cooler moniker), overfeeds one person and may comfortably feed two people with two pork chops (or country ham or steak), three eggs, fried apples, hashbrown casserole, grits, biscuits and gravy. To wash the mountain of food down, I selected coffee. The coffee, when it arrived nearly five minutes later, was average at best. Refills, which were provided for free, required near-seizure behavior to obtain and, upon my third, I was given the evil eye and no more coffee was to be found (despite my prospecting). The food arrived about twenty minutes after ordering. The grits and gravy were already cold (and the tops congealed), the eggs were underdone, and the porkchops were cooked well beyond what would be considered "acceptable." On the bright side, the fried apples and hashbrown casserole were of the right temperature (I assume) and tasted pretty good. In the end, all of the food was edible if not wonderful (except that casserole - yum!), the service was on the wrong side of crap, and I did not get the appropriate amount of beverage into my system to avoid pointing out my displeasure. While there is always a chance that the restaurant was not having the best of days, there is little likelihood that I will go back again, unless I am not able to get into another place to eat and am more interested in quantity than quality. I did, however, buy my obligatory candy sticks (of a billion flavors) on my way out. I guess that there is SOMETHING that the Cracker Barrel is good for. Mmmmmm.....candy sticks!

I have never been to a Cracker Barrel and my husband kept telling me how good they were. So, we ended up going to one during our family outing and it was just disappointing. Nothing really stood out for me - the meats were overly salted and the meal was plain. Even the pancakes and french toast were bland and not very flavorful. Service was decent and friendly especially with the cute booster seats and high chairs available. Overall, a non-memorable meal that was hyped up for its delicious food.

I dont care for the Cracker Barrel.I lived in Texas and there is resturaunt similar to this called sweet sues..except thier food is actually good and actually southern. I hate when they put my bill on the table the second I get my food..I havent even eaten yet! I know someone that works there though and she said they have to do that to hurry the customers along so they can get a better turn over.there actually trained to do it! Jeeeez. Only thing I do like is the little store, and the rocking chairs outside to relax in. I will pass on service .. hate to be hurried when I am paying to eat and chat and relax.I like a friendly server that smiles and doent look exhausted( server myself)And I hate when they have hair hanging in thier face all over my food...Check out Birchwood Grill instead on Hwy 50.Better bet.

I usually do not rate chain restaurants, but I couldn't hold back. Cracker Barrel is one of those few places that just doesn't change in anyway, including quality, no matter where or when you visit. IL, WI, IN, OH, KY, OK, AZ --- All maintain the Old Country/Southern feel, White trash/"strange" individuals, & the original home-cookin' American specials. The apple-butter or gravy with biscuits, fried breaded shrimp, raspberry iced tea, endless list of Sides, great daily week specials...You can NEVER go wrong!!

We went to this Cracker Barrel because it was on the way home for us. I have been to other Cracker Barrels before and kinda knew what to expect, But I must say the service we had a this location was better that some of the other locations that I have been to. I ordered a breakfast dish and was quite pleased with the quality and quantity of food it was just the right size for my hunger. I would recommend this location to anyone who is looking for a nice meal and good service.

Why would you want to come here when there are wonderful Mom and Pop experiences just waiting to happen right around the corner? Oh, right, I forgot. Because it is predictable and you prefer the homogenization of America. Well - this IS a well managed chain, because if there really WASN'T anything else around and I was really starving, I'd come here too. So come here for the predictable. It's not bad, but it's nothing good either. It follows the corporate guideline to a "T".

This was my first Cracker Barrel experience, but I didn't think it lived up to the hype. A couple of my friends said "CRACKER BARREL IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!." And yes, it was good, but did not live to the awesomeness that they said. I would go back though.

Delicious food and a fair price. Got the Hershel's breakfast and cod dinner. Would recommend but get fried apples instead of coleslaw.

I got the worst food poisoning of my life. But at least the food was good when I was eating it. I got the chicken BLT. And now I'm regretting it.

Good place to go if shopping in Kenosha want to get food fast. Price is good and food is okay. Staff has always been attentive and friendly. I wouldn't want to ear here too often but it has a place in my life.

What can I say? It's a Cracker Barrel. Good food and service with a smile.

Food was good, but the service was terrific. Kim was our server who did a great job even after I dumbed my drink everywhere followed by my mother doing the same. The manager even cleaned up the huge mess we made. Way to show teamwork Mr. Manager.

Food is ok. Enjoyed the fact that I get my breakfast all day and really don't have to order any pancakes which I am not a fan of, especially here. Service was also ok but they seemed to forget silverware.

They have the best pancakes and syrup in the world. I fell in love with this place. I highly recommend going here, especially for breakfast.

Walk in by coincidence on Thanksgiving night of 2012. Get much better than a fast food with 10 bucks per person. Impress with cozy environment and detailed decoration, I have a unforgettable Thanksgiving night with my friend.
