Food isn't anything to brag about. The reason I give it 4 stars is because of the great outdoor seating and views of the lake you get during the summer. Perfect spot for day drinking or later in the night on a summer night.

Our server was nice but service was SO slow, salad was old, and pasta was overcooked with zero taste. Please don't go here for food; only go if you're having a drink and enjoying the view.

Delicious all the way around - food and views! My daughter and I sat outside on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. Seated right away. Service was friendly and prompt. We ordered spinach/artichoke dip to start, very creamy, full of fresh spinach & artichokes, served with fried pita chips. My daughter ordered chicken sandwich w/ fries, she said it was good. I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken - loved it - the romaine along with the chicken was grilled with a nice char, dressing was flavorful. Only complaint, drink prices are fairly steep. Once I checked in on Yelp, I received a drink coupon worth $4.00 which I paid for half of my glass of wine Overall very good experience - will definitely be back!

Breakwater Grille is a great location at the Kenosha Yacht Club that has had several failures due to poor food, poor service or both. The current management provides some very good food. The problem is you can't get a drink and the food takes forever. I would love to see this place succeed. But until they get their act together drive 15 minutes south to the Tropics Bar in Winthrop harbor. Great marina side location. The food is as good or better and service is FAR superior.

Only go if you are ok with waiting over an hour for your food, indifferent management and nonexistent staff. Actually food wait could be longer because we threw a $20 down for what we got and walked out.

Outside of a couple of cocktails several years back I have no experience with the Breakwater. My aunt and I stopped in for lunch today and it was DELICIOUS! We both had the blackened ahi tuna special that was literally to die for, as well as some summer cocktails. We sat on the deck, enjoying the sunshine, and eating a fabulous meal. Heads up, there are definitely higher price point items on the menu, but you will also find sandwiches and burgers available too. Perfect location, great service, superb food- looking forward to coming back again!

Beautiful spot in the harbor, but a group of us went in the summer and ordered almost every ap on menu plus some specialty salads. we were happy would go again. Went two times during the year that was not summer and the food and service was completely different and not in a good way. One time was burgers for four of us and some weren't what we ordered, it took awhile so fries were cold. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant also. Next time was a Sat. at 6:00, again we were just about the only ones in there. We ordered special grilled cheese sandwiches and soup. They sounded really good. Waited along time and when they came out they were cold which isn't a good grilled cheese. The kitchen was only about 20 ft. from our table. We don't get it.

I am really surprised that the management has not figured out that they will be busy on the weekend. We were waiting for service at a table and had to stop a waitress and ask if she would wait on us, she replied sure we don't have sections.... Maybe that was why we waited for so long. The waitress took our order and said the kitchen was really behind today.... Don't they schedule for summer weekend business? Then the bartenders are rude. If it wasn't for the view this place would suck. How can you screw up a place on the water in summer?

My family and I just had their Easter Brunch. It was forgettable, to say the least. The pancakes and french toast were hard. The majority of the "hot" food was less than lukewarm. None of us took any of the "lunch" foods. Vegetables looked oversteamed and mushy. The chicken was just a pile of plain breasts that resembled hospital food. Didn't seem like any of the desserts were homemade, instead looked like those small dessert offerings you get on a Chinese buffet. $21 per person?? Crazy. We will not be returning.

Summer salad with Tuna Stake is my favorite item on their menu. They has such a wonder view of the Harbor that even the beer taste better. Any sunny day makes it for a great Breakwater and Grill day. Many boats dock there to enjoy their food and drinks. The restaurant has life entertainment like music. There is also a sailing club so you can send the kids to learn sailing while you enjoy the view and food. There is lots to see on that location like the paddle boarders, Cost Guards, Flying Jetpack, etc. There may be better food somewhere else, but it would be very difficult to compete with the perfect location this restaurant has. So much to see and enjoy.

It's hard to beat this view of Lake Michigan in any season. Enjoy a local microbrew with fresh Walleye (when available). Visit with boating enthusiasts, and take a stroll along the lake. Service is friendly.

Our experience here was wonderful from start to finish! We sat outside on Lake Michigan, so the view was outstanding. I had the steak wrap, which was delicious. The waitress sold me on a piece of tiramisu, which was heavenly. Great service!

Breakwater is located on the western shore of Lake Michigan in lovely Kenosha. Breakwater is actually part of the Kenosha Yacht Club and is open to the public, which is a pretty sweet deal. You can sit in the bar area that has bay windows that over look the lake, or you can sit in the dinning area, that also has views of the lake. We can here on a Saturday evening after spending all day drinking. It was early (7:30ish) and it was fairly quiet. A waitress there told us that the place is hopping in the summer, but once fall/winter hits, it gets pretty quiet. They have drink specials every day, and at that time, they had domestic bottles for two bucks, which isn't a bad deal. The food was really good! I ended up getting The Boom Vang - Crispy Chicken Tenders tossed in buffalo sauce, Stuffed with pepper jack cheese, tomato and lettuce wrapped in a tortilla. My friend ended up getting The Anchor - 6oz Tuna steak grilled to your perfection, served on a freshly baked bun. Her husband ended up getting The Mast - Corned Beef stacked on Marble Rye with Sauerkraut and Thousand Island Dressing. It was a nice casual atmosphere and they even had televisions so that you can get caught up on all your College football so you know how your fantasy team is doing! If you are in the area and looking for good food with drink specials and a nice view, look no further.

The Jumbo Wings are some of the best I've had. Burgers are good and the Walleye dinner was great. The service has always been exceptional to me personally. I like going here, especially in summer with the live music on the pier.

Recently visited the Breakwater for lunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Was able to get great seating outside over looking the water. Started with bloody marys which included a build your own bloody bar, so I was able to garnish with everything I wanted including cheese, sausage, olives, and pickles. Plus I could make it spicy enough to please me. For lunch I had the ahi tuna sandwich which I ordered seared rare. It came out a little more done than rare; however, it was still very tasty. On the side it came with sweet potatoes fries which were excellent. Would certainly visit again for lunch, not sure about it's prospects as a dinner venue.

The service is quite slow and the food is not very tasty. Twice I have ordered the wings and there were no drummies!

We have live in Kenosha for almost 17 years and this was our first time eating at the Yacht Club, we know it has changed hands many times over the years. Today we decided to have lunch. We sat outside on the deck which was very nice, we ordered drinks with the bartender who actually sat us on the deck. Took about 10-15 minutes to get our drinks and the bartender also took our food order. We both ordered soup and a sandwich/salad. After finishing our drinks, which was about 20 minutes, we still had not received our soups. We observed our "server/bartender" was too busy serving her customers at the bar to attend to our food order. After we waited another 10 minutes we were on the verge of paying for our drinks and leaving, when our soup finally arrived. Our server/bartender realized our annoyance to her inattentiveness and apologized profusely for her lack of attention. I ordered the clam chowder and my husband ordered the vegetable soup. I was very pleasantly surprised how good the clam chowder was, it was definitely home made and was one of the best chowder's I've had in a long time. The vegetable soup was very hearty however, had an "off" taste to it, we couldn't quite figure out what the flavor was. The remainder of our lunch was finally delivered, the sandwich, a Rueben was delicious and the Autumn Apple Salad was also good. Overall, the food was much better than the service we received. The menu selections are very limited, and pricing in comparison to other local bar and grills is definitely overpriced. There's nothing outstanding on the menu that I haven't seen anywhere else, and nothing that makes the Breakwater stand out amongst it's competition. This place has a lot of potential, but definitely needs to work on service and updating the menu and pricing.

Ate there twice in past few weeks. First time, we had several appetizers including mussels and shrimp. Wife was extremely sick for 36 hours, and took another 5 days to get better, Tonight, daughter ordered tuna rare. Came out medium well. Sent back to kitchen and the second one came out cooked 1/8" inch on both sides, and completely frozen in the middle 5/8".

We were in Kenosha enroute to visiting friends and wanted to eat somewhere on the water. We saw this place across from the lighthouse facing the sunset. Food was delicious. Live music. I had the mussel appetizer and requested it over pasta. Served with garlic bread . Also the walleye was fantastic. Yum!!!
