Was there today wife's Patty melt terrible dry a totally different meat than my burger. Then she went to get something more to eat at the salad bar and there were bugs all over the fruit..... Not good will not be back. Server was kind and took off the bill but really kind of gross.

The fish and chips and the ribeye were fantastic. They have an amazing salad bar with anything you could ever want on it. We went early so it wasn't busy. My only complaint ... Got our cheese curd appetizer (excellent) and went to the salad bar, my steak was waiting for my so had to eat everything at the same time. I hate feeling rushed, especially when not many are there. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I just wish the timing of our courses would have been better. I will be giving them another try on the timing.

I had the buffet, my wife ordered off the menu. Its hard to do a decent breakfast buffet, but this was OK. Off the menu was really good. Nice staff. It is a bit over priced ($2.50 coffee).

Food there is not good. The salad bar is just like one found at at a local grocery chain accept the grocery store has a greater selection and isn't as dirty. We also ordered a hamburger and after a few minutes the waitress came back and said they were out of beef and would we like to substitute some other type of meat on the burger and have that deep fried. If this is the culinary experience your looking for then pop two antacids and go for it.

We decided to try this restaurant on saturday night. It wasnt very busy, but we still ended up waiting about 15 minutes before someone came to seat us. We ordered off the menu, boubon chicken and almond crusted walleye. Both came with the salad bar. I decided to have soup, also at the salad bar, and found more than half the soup spoons were crusty feeling and a couple had dried food on them. I left a nice pile sitting by the basket used to store the spoons. On to the soup. Tasted just like campbells tomato with added pasta. The lettuce was dripping wet, but I guess after seeing the dirty spoons, I was glad to see they washed the lettuce. The rest of the salad bar seemed fresh, but average. Dinner. the almond crusted walleye was over cooked, had a funny grease taste and absolutely no indication it had almonds. You also get a pile of broccoli with absolutely not one bit of seasoning. Bourbon chicken was burnt, every piece, and the chef cleverly turned all the burnt pieces over and covered it with the bourbon sauce. The burned areas were so bad, they were crispy. The waitress asked if I wanted something else, but I declined. Both dinners came with baked potatoes wrapped in foil, which you have to unwrap yourself. Good thing they were luke warm, what a great way to burn your fingers! We will never go there again.

The food was all very good. The buffet was priced very reasonably for everything you get. The service was great and we didn't have to wait to get seated. The place needs a good deep cleaning inside which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Once it gets all cleaned up, it deserves 5.

I wish I had the great experience some of the others have claimed here! I called in for the garlic shrimp and tenderloin. I was asked three times in a row what I wanted. I figured they must have been very busy and was surprised to find the place empty when I arrived. I was ready to dig in when I got home then disappointed to find no shrimp. The steak and potatoes were okay.

Nice decorations but that's about it. Not the best level of customer service. Dirty silverware by salad bar. Food did not have any flavor tasted like they opened a can and put it on a plate. They should put the buffet trays in a more convenient way, with a heat handler on the knob.

I saw some things about service but never had any problem myself. This has been our annual New Year's Eve place! For around $50, all you can eat and basic bar package - they have Leinie's Honey Weiss on tap - enough said! Typical fried foods, BUT they have these wraps one year we had to ask for - the best! Great pizza too. Nice tv's and good DJ. And we usually return the next day for breakfast buffet which can't be beat! Have never been there for sit down dinner but menu looks great! LOVE the place!

I called on for take out before work because it is close to the high way and I wanted to try it. I have done this twice on a sat. And it has been decent bk to go and on time. I had the meat lovers with eggs over easy. Toast, ham of the bone, bacon, sausage and hash browns. I was short on time and I didn't want the big chain bk. This was a real bk on the go and I will do it again. I can't speak overall about this place but for what I use it for it's great and I will go again.

From the outside the Birchwood Grill may look like a small bar and grill but go inside and it opens up looking like an Aspen, Colorado ski chalet. They serve breakfast/lunch buffets with quality food like delicious broasted chicken, pot roast, BBQ Rib Tips and fish. Their salad bars are fresh with a lot of varieties of veggies and dressings. I counted a long table with at least 10 items for breakfast & another long table for the salad bar and yet another long table for lunch. The buffet ended at 2 PM for us, so call to make sure. If you don't have that large of an appetite, they also serve individual meals. Best family food restaurant for the price in Kenosha, WI.

My first 2 experiences were showers held here. The food was fantastic. So we tried the breakfast buffet....very good and the staff is always sooo friendly. We then went for Easter brunch. Something on the buffet was cold, I mentioned it right away to the waitress. She apologized, offered to get done that was hot and ran off to fix the problem. In my book that's perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Went here after my nephew's Bar Mitzvah party on Saturday evening 4/26/14. Loved the atmosphere and the food. Had the smokehouse panini..it was delicious. Big enough for me to have leftovers the next day. Server was really nice and friendly.

Not bad, not bad at all. Wife and I stopped in here (more like pole vaulted, with all the construction going on). While the food isn't stellar it's not bad. She ordered a grilled turkey panini, I ordered a grilled chicken panini. While I would take exception to the description of her panini ("piled high" was the description... I don't call a few slices a pile, let alone a high pile!) the taste was pretty good. My panini's taste was fantastic, so no complains there. Service was energetic and cheerful. Lots worse places you could stop within a stone's throw, so you could definitely do far worse!

After our lovely three days in Lake Delavan, before hitting the road back to Chicago, we wanted one last non-chain lunch. We went to Birchwood Grill. Considering our theme to the whole weekend involved antler chandleries, we chose wisely. They had quite the salad bar, and buffet. We all opted for cheese curds (duh) and the 2 piece broasted chicken dinner. This also included the salad bar and a side. We all ate WAY too much, but the chicken was DELICIOUS. As someone who LOVES broasted chicken, thumbs way up.

I love this place. I have been here many times with friends & family. I love their salad bar. I have also tried a couple of their sandwiches. Other people I've dined with have enjoyed the Friday & Saturday night buffet. They also have a great brunch. Reasonably priced

I've been living in Kenosha county for nearly 20 years and this is the first time I have been to this restaurant. When I first walked in I thought crap another hole in the wall place, but that is just because I don't like the cabin feel in any way shape or form. I was here so I decided to make the best of a what I thought would be a bad situation. I will say that the greeter and server were a pleasure. Stephanie, our server was WONDERFUL and assisted me in making a decision in what to eat because the menu has quite a few selections. Well, when the food arrived I was pleasantly surprised that the food was FRESH!!!!! Not that I took it fresh out of the freezer feel that you get at many places now. In my party we had Fish, burger, and a chicken salad. I sampled all three and all I can say is WOW!! The beer battered cod was huge and flaky and would make any Londoner proud to call this fish and chips. The burgers were juicy, but without leaving the bun soggy and let's not talk about how fresh the garnishes were. Most times you get old lettuce and a tiny excuse for a tomato on the side, but nope they were at the caliber o vein a mini salad themselves. On to the chicken salad......all one can say is Yum and Yum again. On the side we had sweet potato fries and regular fries. Now, these are not your local Food joint fries, but rather small wedges of greatness. Once again the theme is fresh and fresh. They were crispy without being oily. For dessert we had the Hot Apple Dumpling, Fudge Cake Overload, and a Strawberry Cheesecake. There are no words that can describe the mighty goodness of these desserts so I won't try. Just know that you can't go wrong with either or you can do as I did and bring enough people to order all three and sample away! In short (hahahahaha) go here and eat your heart out. For me it was truly about not judging a book by it cover because you could miss something wonderful.

DON'T t consider for Mother's Day, awful experience here! The only time we've visited was for the Easter brunch last month. It was terrible and waaay overpriced! $20 per person for food that wasn't hot (room temperature at best) and mostly flavorless. I was completely surprised that they charged as much as they did for the food offered. $10 or $12 would have been too much. It reminded us of the type of flavorless and cold food one might get in a school cafeteria line, possibly worse. DON'T BOTHER, particularly if you're looking for a pleasant holiday meal with the family.

This is a warm and inviting place..the servers and bartenders are really friendly..sometimes a little too much..nothing worse than a hovering bartender when your trying to talk ..Oh well..always tip anyway!!But either way the food is great..including the buffet..and its easy to bring the kids..I had ravioli with marinara and it was very good! OMG...Artichoke ravioli wuth a glass of white merlot! I am suprised people dont care for it..its affordable, fun decor..and the bar is fun to be at.,,,I alwasy have that male waiter..he is the best one there! Make sure you getbhim..you wont be dissapointed!

The best thing about Birchwood Grill, in my humble opinion, is you get to make your own salad from the salad bar. It surprises me how uncommon this has become in restaurants. I love piling on my favorite salad things topped with sunflower seeds and bacon bits! Oh and they had crab meat! (albeit imitation, I was still happy... I've never seen it on a salad buffet) The service that my party of 7 endured happened to be GREAT! Our main girl was super nice and another girl helped her out in between, refreshing our drinks. The food, though... eh. Sorry B-Grill, I have to be honest here. More important than anything in a restaurant is THE FOOD. The Cream of Broccoli soup on the buffet (I paid $3.50 extra to get the buffet with my steak sandwich) tasted manufactured in only that way that mass produced ingredients can. My sandwich, was a tenderloin "burger" in the hamburger section. I ordered it med. rare and was expecting something great with lots of flavor. It came out med. to med. well and NO flavor. I don't usually go for the A1 when I get steak, but this sandwich needed it! I felt like they skimped on the fries a bit, too. I guess I would go back if out of convenience and maybe just get the salad bar. But, I wouldn't be able to recommend it.

My wife and I were meeting a friend from Illinois and decided to meet half way so we decided on Birchwood Grill. The location is nice, right off the highway; the restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated for Valentine's Day. We arrived there wasn't anyone tending the bar, the lady that were working the tables had to take care of use, but she was pleasant enough, The food was pretty good, no real complaints, I had the Bourbon Chicken and my wife had the Grilled Salmon, and we both agreed it was very nice, though the broccoli side dish that came with the meal was just plain, steamed broccoli with no seasoning. It was fine, but clearly no real thought went into it. As far as customer service, it was a bit slow, again only seeing one person waiting tables. She was nice enough, but could have used some help. A excellent salad bar with plenty of different veggies to add to the salad, a big plus for me. No real complaint about the place, I would go back to Birchwood Grill without any hesitation.

Homemade chips were good and that was about it. My girlfriend ordered the Northwoods Chicken Sandwich. It was very think and not grilled, it seemed as if it had been cooked in a microwave. Very sloppily put together. I ordered the cheese ravioli with tomato sauce. It was regular, something I could have easily made at home. There were other choices of sauce that might have been better like Alfredo and spinach artichoke. I also ordered a strawberry margarita and it was nasty. Just cheap tequila and strawberry purée. I couldn't drink more that 2 sips. The waitress did not ask if she could get me a different drink and never acknowledged that I wasn't drinking it. Wouldn't go back. There are way better options in the area.

This place was suggested as we were meeting friends from the Round Lake area and this was about halfway for the two couples. Wish we had hit up the Texas Roadhouse instead... While nothing was awful, nothing was fabulous either. I passed on the buffet as the whole premise (gorge yourself on high sodium foods to ensure you get your money's worth) is off-putting to me. I went with the Jumbo Garlic Shrimp, which were paired with garlic bread (or as I like to call what they gave me, "door stops") and sweet potato fries which we decent, and tasted exactly like the ones I get from Costco... The shrimp itself was pretty good; several very large "scrimps" that I actually had to cut with my fork as they were just too big. I did get soup and salad bar with my meal and I took advantage of the bulk romaine lettuce. Thankfully they had a large variety of fixins that I used to complement my salad and simultaneously negate any health effects and add flavor to the limp lettuce. Some chocolate pudding (nothing special but a tasty ending) rounded out the meal. Service was good, but the signs of disrepair were the most unsettling: Tables say empty and unbused well into our meal and a poster for a local hockey team was doubling as a shield for a large hole in the wall in the restroom. Those things always make me worry that corners are being cut in other areas as well...

My daughter and I stopped here during a road trip going north. We really enjoyed ourselves. The server was very nice and the food very good. We had the dinner buffet and the pot roast was delicious!!!! Salad bar was great with some items that were unusual but great on a salad bar!

Boy, I thought I'd get another first review here, but somebody already reviewed this place more than a year ago. Oh well, at least I get to introduce this place to people outside the area. During a business trip a few weeks ago, my supervisor could not wait for a dinner until we arrive to Milwaukee, so we stopped by this place. The interior was interesting, such that it has some theme on hunting but also humoring the nature. Pictures I took might attest to that. Initially we thought we were gonna have seafood buffet, but instead we got Mexican food. My coworkers and I who traveled from California (and you know you can get Mexican food quite easily here in California) surely didn't expect to eat one. Yeah, we misread the special on the wall, but the menu was somewhat confusing. At least the Mexican food I ate was decent (I ate fajita like stir-fried without tortilla skin).

My friends and I try to always make it a point to stop in here when we make our trips from Chicago to Wisconsin. We love it! I like the decor and warm feel of the place, the staff has always been extremely kind and attentive and I LOVE the idea of their long island iced tea bar. Seems also like it would be a laid back place to watch a football game if you don't want a crazy crowd.

Just stay away...the food was terrible ...steak was over cooked and service was bad. This place has a great crowd on the weekends...I just don't get it. Save your money...please don't waste it here.

Worst dining experience in a LONG time! Overpriced, low-quality food, poor atmosphere. Musty smell, and it needs remodeling. It was very slow when I went there and I'm not surprised by the lack of customers. The waitress was ditzy and nearly forgot to bring out my entree. Once it arrived, it was cold and tasted funny and there was not much food there for the money. When we went up to pay our bill, the cashier was rude and unfriendly, and did not ask how the meal was or thank us for our patronage. I spoke up and told her what I thought of our experience, and she didn't offer a discount or even bother to feign concern. I am NEVER going back here, and I suggest that others stay away as well!

I tried Birchwood Grill again last night after seeing they have added some seafood items to the menu. In the past, this place has always missed the mark with food quality, quantity and service. The menu has changed but little else has. The waitress was obviously very unhappy to be there and knew little about the "new" menu. The appetizer was small for the price. My entree was good but left me hungry. I asked for a menu to confirm I got access to the salad bar with my meal, the waitress didn't know. This place has such potential yet it fails to impress every time.

We were there for an early dinner on way from airport. The salad bar was great and the broasted chicken was very good. Prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent.

I am so confused by some of the negative reviews here. I have eaten at Birchwood a couple of times and have always had normal service and good food. I had my baby shower there when I was pregnant and just this weekend I saw someone else having theirs there. Food is a little expensive but good. The decor looks good, kinda hunting lodgey.... We ordered off the menu this time and most of what we ordered was good. One bad thing though was one of my co-diners ordered an hot beef sandwich. It looked like it was slightly burned and they tried to cover it up with more cheese. But other than that very tasty and good service.

Do not eat here. You might as well hit any fast food restaurant that's nearby. My mother and sister ate here this weekend and were deeply disappointed by the food quality. I ate here a couple years ago and felt the same. First of all, I was a busboy back in the '90s when this place was Taste of Wisconsin. They have not updated since then and have the same tables/chairs/plates, etc. Very bad sign. If I am not mistaken, the owners also own Bombay Louie's and Baker Street. This is by far the worst of the three. This is a fine location, too bad no one has made it work...anyway, this past weekend my sister complained about paying $5 for a sub-par small bowl of french onion soup that did not come with crackers or bread. When she expressed her dismay to the hostess, she was completely ambivalent. To finish this review/rant, the best non-chain restaurant in this price range in the Kenosha area is Twisted Cuisine. It'll cost a little more but the ambiance and food quality is consistently very good.
