Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

This is always a spot I come to with my family when I come back to WI. It's a Happy Joe's without the franchise tag. We called ahead to make sure they could seat all 25 of us. We requested extra broasted chicken and taco pizza on the buffet line because thats why we come. I think they did the best they could with the chicken but in the 2 hours they were there, we saw 2 taco pizza's. Of course the rest of the restaurant was waiting for it too, so it was gone within seconds. So bummer for me, I didn't get any, I did eat my weight in Chicken though.....its sooooooo good.

Great taco pizza. It's a fun place for kids. If you don't have kids... maybe call and pick it up.

Ah Mac's... Takes me back to high school. Macs has been around forever in one way or another. It's a community staple. Their pizza is decent. What you really want to order here is their taco pizza and broaster chicken! Their dough is made fresh daily! The taco pizza has a bean sauce, spicy sausage, fresh mix of cheese and topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, and Doritos! Add a little hit sauce and sour cream and you have the best taco pizza ever! The broaster chicken is crispy, salty, and juicy. Everything you would expect. I'm also a fan of the salad bar. Everything is fresh with a wide variety! Broccoli salad, cole slaw, Oreo cream fluff stuff, good old fashioned chocolate pudding? The salad bar has it! What really sells me on this place is their support of the community. They are constantly donating pizza and supporting numerous organizations throughout the community. The owners are really just outstanding people in general. This is a place that gives back! When you can support an establishment that spreads the love and success, why wouldn't you?

We came here for lunch and ended up getting the buffet. The sign says seat your self, so we did. Trouble is the check out is in the back where you are supposed to order. So we waited for a waitress before realizing that orders were taken at the register. The place has booth and table seating. The buffet table is along one wall near the back. The table we sat at was clean, but the menu had dried food on it. The buffet consisted of pizza and chicken with a modest salad bar. Most of the pizza was cold and dried out. The chicken was hot and juicy like it just came from the fryer. There is a bus cart along one wall you put your dirty dishes in. The restroom was fairly clean. There was a birthday party going on so the place was kind of noisy. There is a small game room with a few arcade games. This is not my kind of buffet. I think you should be seated and greeted by a person. They should at least take your plates away. I don't believe the quality of food and lack of service was worth $10.44. The chicken was good, so 2 stars.

We were referred here by some neighborhood teenagers. We ordered a Chicago style pizza a thin crust. We picked it up and upon opening the boxes, we discovered this wasn't exact order. Too tired, we ate it. I should say we each had a piece of each. Then it went to a dark place in the back of the refrigerator until it was "acceptable" to toss. I have few words to describe the disappointment. Back to our pizza stone and grill, will not be back.

Lunch buffet (no drink included, really?) pizzas were average, until I tried the Taco Pizza. It was awesome. Gotta love a hometown pizza joint.

Today my wife wanted Mac's for her Mother's day dinner. Since we all enjoy Mac's I happily agreed. My wife, daughter, stepson, and I all went for dinner. The staff were courteous, and when I told them we were there for my wife's mother's day dinner, he asked what pizza she liked and he made them special. The food was delicious and my family went home happy.

Eeeew! or visit to Mac's was short and disappointing. We went for the buffet and I had one average slice of taco pizza. My wife however was unable to eat. She is a vegetarian and we first noticed that their marinara which was in the buffet had a small amount of ground beef in it. I asked an employee if there marinara contained may and I was told that it did not. The next disturbing thing we noticed was the employees stocking the buffet used one spatula to rearrange the slices from all the different types of pizza. That is a huge Cross contamination hazard not only to people with selective diets but also people with allergies and food sensitivities. My wife brought this to the attention of the teenaged employee who said he was the highest ranking manager present, who not only failed to recognize the danger of these practices, but also didn't even know the meaning of the term cross contamination. That's right' he actually said "what do you mean by cross contamination?" shortly after that an older man who was apparently actually the manager took over the conversation by shouting "is this about that damn gluten again!?" obviously people have pointed out similar concerns to him before. The manager then went on to accuse my wife of expecting him to provide a sperate buffet just for her because she is a vegetarian. my wife then asked him if they put meat in the marinara sauce and he said no. Then she asked if they mixed different sauces together at the end of the night to eliminate waste and he answered very matter of factly will yes, we combine sauces. so at that point we realized that not only had all the pizzas been touched with utensils that had been in contact with meet without washing in between, but that they actually all likely CONTAINED meat! we got a refund but that may not be enough I think I will be contacting the local health inspectors tomorrow. so done at your own risk... but only if you want mediocre food with mystery ingredients in it.

Mac's Pizza Shack reminds me of the old Shakey's Restaurants. When you walk in, there is a counter to place your order. I always order soft drinks and the buffet. The buffet contains various pizza's, soup, salad, chicken, mashed potatoes, and a few other things. There are some arcade games for the kids as well.

have to admit, i really expected better. once a year janesville residents get to vote on their favorite places to eat, and i believe mac's pizza shack usually comes out on top as "favorite buffet." being a fan of hometown buffet, i find this very hard to believe. the price for the lunch buffet is $7, no drink. if you want to have drinks the price is a little over $9, i think they said $9.35. so, we all had water, which is fine. what i did like about the pricing is that they charge .50 a year for kids, so i paid $3 for my 6 year old daughter to eat, which is a good deal cheaper than most buffets, and she usually ends up eating a tiny amount anyway. i'll do the positives first: the chicken was delicious! very crisp, crunchy outside, juicy on the inside, great flavor. my wife and i both commented a few times how much we liked the chicken. there is a very decent variety of pizza offered, so even if you are picky you should find something. the service at the front counter, where you place your order, was very friendly. overall, the price wasn't bad. we even had a coupon for "buy 3 buffet get 1 free" so my daughters buffet was free, meaning my wife, 9 year old son, 6 year old daughter and myself were able to eat for just under $20. and the salad bar was good also, nothing exceptional, but all the basics are there. now, the negatives....even though the selection of pizza was good, the quality was not. yes, this is just my opinion. i tried 2 different kinds, my wife had a few pieces and my son tried one piece. we all thought the same thing: very dry, very little sauce, bland flavor. at the beginning of the buffet there are these small portable buffet warmers that you can buy for parties. it had in it mashed potatoes, chicken gravy and some sort of pasta dish. my son and i love mashed potatoes and gravy, but when we got there the potatoes were almost gone, you had to scrape the sides of the dish to get any, and what you did get was dry and seemed like it had been sitting for quite a while. after going up a few times looking for fresh potatoes i finally asked someone if they were going to bring out more. right before we left, more were finally brought out. the gravy was good, but my son only likes beef gravy, so all he had on his plate was a little scoop of dried out potatoes and a piece of sausage pizza. he took one bite of the pizza and said it was bad. i tried it and agreed, it was dried out and seemed old. so, he picked at his dried out potatoes a little bit and said he was done. the pasta was the same way, almost empty the entire time, and what was there looked dried out and completely unappealing. another very negative thing, to me anyway, was that even though there were employees all over the dining area, they only seemed to clean up a table after you left, which means your dirty plates sit piled up next to you the entire time you are eating. their game room was another disappoinment. they have some games where you can win tickets and redeem them for prizes. but the games are old, outdated, they look old and not very clean, and the room itself is tiny; we were in there with another mother and her son and there was no room to move around without bumping into each other. actually, now that i think about it, this is a good thing. even my kids didn't want to spend much time there, so we didn't waste any more money! i simply can't believe this place is picked as "favorite buffet." compared to hometown buffet, the prices are similar, but at hometown the selection is vastly better, as anyone who has been there should know. in the opinions of my entire family, the quality at hometown is also much, much better, maybe the only exception being the chicken. i love the chicken at hometown, but mac's is better, by a little bit anyway. and at hometown, your plates are taken away in a (usually) prompt manner, not left sitting there until you leave. overall, i'd say mac's is an ok place to eat, especially if you are craving chicken. but if you want a buffet with a good selection that is restocked like it should be, i'd go somewhere else.
