(This review is for the attached restaurant, not the dinner theater) I'm a fan of this place. The Armory has surprisingly good bistro food, the atmosphere is fairly casual but nice enough for special occasion, and for the menu prices it's a good value. They also have a nice patio for when the weather cooperates. Service is inconsistant, I've had great servers as well as friendly but clueless ones, but never so bad as to detract from the overall experience. The steaks are ok, their seafood is generally great and the short rib is awesome. The risotto side option alone is worth the price of the meal. Dessert portions are massive and more than enough to share. The beer selection (both tap and bottled) is fairly limited...given that we are in Wisconsin, I would expect a better variety of craft beers available at a restaurant of this quality. If you're looking for a nice night out for anniversary/birthday/etc. and you want to stay local, this is my recommendation.

Comedy was great but the service and the food was absolutely horrible. Our waiter dawn took our drink order and came back 25 minutes later and didn't remember taking our drink order. Then she forgot put our order in and took another 25 minutes to get our food out. Our food was cold by the time we got it. Then she double charged us for a specific item ( fish fry). On top of the cold food, my wine felt watered down ( I've sold wine and drink this specific water all the time.) Will come back for the comedy but not the food and for the horrible service.

We have been to the armory several times. Both for the comedy night and sometimes just for dinner. I do have to say I would recommend lunch service over dinner. The food is decent but a little pricey for what you get. Except to for one appetizer..and the hummus is very good. Always have to ask for more pita though. Overall its pretty good but there is room for improvement. I do not want to slam The Armory because we enjoy going there and if we didn't like it we wouldn't go back. But The menu could use some refinement. The staff is always courteous and they do a great job getting comedians in for a fun evening. My suggestion is give it a try and definitely go out for one of the comedy shows.

This restaurant was memorably terrible. The nearly empty dining room on a saturday night should have been the first clue. My family had a birthday dinner at the Armory, and despite being one of the only tables, every aspect of our experience was bad. The service was awful. Our waitress was surly and got almost every order wrong. When she disappeared for long times and we asked another waitress for something, we were asked who our server was. Let me tell you something Armory- when I am dining out at a restaurant it is not my job to know my server. It is your job to provide decent service. If one server falls behind, others should be trained to assist. The food was worse than mediocre and very expensive. A glass of wine was $9 and an entree averaged $27. I expect good food and service for those prices and received neither. Two members of my party received the wrong dish and the problem was not corrected for over 20 minutes. I hope this terrible place goes out of business fast so a more competent owner can make use of the beautiful space.

Went for a corporate event. Pros: The space is lovely. Cons: The food was not memorable. The only thing I remember eating was a carrot cake that did not taste like any carrot cake I've had before. In fact, it did not have a real taste at all. No tang from cream cheese frosting, no spice in the cake. The servers struck me as clueless. Twice the server interrupted a conversation. I would not go back.

My wife and I ordered the calamari with linguini from their specials of the day menu. The calamari was so undercooked I would consider it raw and they forgot to put in the linguini! When I complained to the waitress she offered to bring me linguini to add to my plate instead of replacing my order. No manager came to our table to address my complaint and they even tried to bill me for the dish we hardly ate. Needless to say our night was ruined. I live in the Janesville area and want to patronize the local businesses but I am not going to eat there again even if they pay me.

Very happy to see that they are still doing their Christmas show! This will be our 6th time coming here. We have never had a bad meal and the service is always wonderful. When you arrive and they take you to your table you are put in the Christmas spirit as soon as you sit down. We love it that we can eat at the same table where you will be watching the show. No getting up and going into another room. We also love that we can share a bottle of wine during the performance. After the show is over we enjoying having cocktails while the performers sing Christmas Carols. We have our tickets for this year once again and can't wait!

A lovely venue but the food & service is very inconsistent. I ha a terrible meal on father's day (should be a time to spotlight your restaurant!). No garnish, anemic looking plates and food that was obviously prepared the prior day. A shame for a town that needs fine dining!
