Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

This place is definitely not on the exotic side in regard to Chinese cuisine and in fact consists of mostly mainstream Chinese-American dishes. So why four stars? Because it's crazy delicious and fresh, that's why. The egg rolls are the best I have ever had, huge and come out of the kitchen surface-of-the-sun hot. Excellent egg drop soup and the lemon chicken is awesome. Great service as well. *There is a bar right below CI so you can down a few drinks and then pig out.

So I am a FAN of Chinese food. I grew up eating traditional "Cantonese style" (egg rolls, Chow Mein, Chow Yuk, Eggs Fu Yung in brown sauce, etc.) and Szechuan on the West Coast, and I've enjoyed good Chinese food while living in several states around the US. I saw the reviews for Cozy Inn and thought it would be worth checking out. After my experience there, I have no interest in ever returning. The restaurant has character, and a sort of neat retro vibe. Obviously, the history of the place is a draw. The circular booths are cool, but I found them to be difficult to get in and out of. The staff was friendly, though service seemed slow; the restaurant was not that crowded. One waitress and one hostess on duty. Some of the wall decor was falling to pieces. Shabby chic. I have never had Chinese food as bad as this in thirty-plus years of enjoying my favorite cuisine. The BBQ pork appetizer was drenched in glop. Why?! The egg drop soup was glop; far too much corn starch. The meat both for the BBQ pork and the Steak Kew (tenderloin, the menu claimed) had been roasted at some point, and then sliced and stir fried. Why?! The result, for me, was like eating bad leftovers. The meat's texture was unappealing and its flavor even less so. The menu mentioned that the egg roll included peanut butter, which seemed odd, but I took the plunge. Should not have done that. I still wanted to be charitable and try to find something positive to say about the food, but after I heaved up my dinner later that night (really--no lie), I came to the sickened conclusion that I could not in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. Maybe you'll have better luck. I hope so. But what I really hope is that you find someplace else to eat.

This restaurant is a special place. If you are from around southern Wisconsin, you know about this restaurant. It is the oldest Chinese restaurant in the state. Watch out for the 24 stairs to heaven. Don't judge a book by its cover. This place is a gem. Don't really understand the other reviews because this place has quality written all over it. Maybe it needs a decorative makeover, but who cares. Food is on point and the service is extremely friendly and upbeat. Will continue to come here when I want great Chinese food.

Waitress was very friendly. We were seated immediately. Everything we had was fresh and good.

"Word on the street" is this is the oldest established oriental restaurant in Wisconsin. This in my mind makes it a bit of a novelty. The place itself has that old school charm and is located on the second floor of the building (above an Irish pub no less). The food is good and it's got some things on the menu that you can't get at every other "Box" Chinese place.

Yep, it was good, nothing special. Typical American-Chinese cuisine Anyone who said this is expensive (I'm pretty sure this fits under the "Cheap" to "Moderate" price range)

I have been eating here for 20 years. It is consistently the best Chinese food I have ever had. I would expect nothing less from the oldest Chinese restaurant in Wisconsin.

I love this place. I'm shocked it's got such a low rating. I've eaten here around a dozen times over the last couple years and I will plan my daily food consumption around what I plan to order at Cozy for dinner. Absolutely love their Hot & Sour soup, wish it came in a bigger bowl! The veggie fried rice is the best, very tasty, and everything I've ordered has been great. The staff couldn't be friendlier. Its just like an older Chinese restaurant in San Francisco, the kind where you have to walk up a flight of stairs (Cozy sits atop an Irish bar) to get to.

I'd have to give the Cozy a solid 3 stars. The decor is great but the food about average. It seems to have gone down hill over the past few years. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down.

Not sure where the last poster ate...but it was not the Cozy Inn. Do us all a favor and just stay in Illinois next time. Cozy inn is the BEST chinese food that I have had in the state of Wisconsin...apparently they are the oldest in the entire state. I have lived in Milwaukee area for 6 years and have yet to find anything that even comes close. The setting is great ... dimmed lighting and cozy personal booths. Service is always great and attentive...and the owner is always there to greet you on the way in and after your meal. The egg rolls are THE BEST -- really no way to describe them. Perfect fried consistency with a hint of sweetness. Craving them right now. Main courses are always served piping hot and in generous portions. You will find no better value .... our family of 5 always walks away for around $35-$40 for a great meal. Great place to order a couple of different dishes and share. Highly highly recommend! --- a true hidden gem in downtown Janesville. Can't wait to get back there again
