Finally achieved my life long dream of eating a butter burger!!!! Thank you Krolls! It was delicious but I felt there could have been a little more butter, does this make me a dairy nutter? Perhaps a butter nutter? Full marks though for the mint milkshake! Yum! I haven't had one of those since I was about 10 and jumping pyjamas talk about that milkshake keeping me young! I don't need fancy face cream or gallons of water to hold back the curse of ageing, no I just need the sweet, thick tonic of a Krolls mint milkshake! Feels pretty boss to have discovered the secret of eternal youth, there you go universe, I share the secret that has alluded billions before me. Aside from the burger and the life changing milkshake, I managed to find room in my eating pants for some cheese Kurds. Thankfully I am on the road heading out of Green Bay as we speak or I would be trading in my petite jeans for serious sweats. Krolls you are the sonny to my Cher.

My husband insisted we eat here due to Alton Brown's suggestion. Although I really, really love AB, I cannot say I agree that this is a must go place. The restaurant itself has a certain old charm, but everything else killed it for me. The server, a young man, was just plain rude and a lousy server. I sat waiting for water my whole meal, never getting it. We all got the cheese curds and nobody was impressed. My husband had the butter burger and enjoyed it. Overall, it was not a nice experience and the food didn't help me.

Our family went here as we were taking a tour of Lambeau Field and we wanted to try a local place. My dad picked Kroll's because it was local and had a good reputation. Unfortunately, the experience we had was terrible. We had a group of 8 which did not work well for the "seat yourself" mentality as there are few tables large enough for 8 comfortably and the ones that are were not wheelchair accessible (my grandfather was with). We ended up at a corner booth that fit 4 on the booth and 4 chairs. It was very tight. Looking around the decor was very dated and looked very worn down. We looked through the menu and decided on drinks and food before asking for service through the "push button for service" system that they had (really?? Way to make people feel special....) We found out when the waitress arrived that several items that were on their menu online were no longer available. Our waitress (who had no personality and could care less about her job much less us) told us that they didn't have the beer we asked for. We pointed it out on the menu and she went back and mysteriously found it this time. One of my family ordered a brandy old fashioned which took about 15 minutes to arrive. Several of the family ordered large soft drinks (had to get the large to get free refills) but never saw the waitress again to get them, or our water, refilled. I ordered the tenderloin steak sandwich done medium and when it came was instantly disappointed. It was, at best done rare as there was a 1/2 inch or more of uncooked meat in the middle. I was only able to eat a few bites before worrying about the food safety of the product. My wife got the chicken dumpling soup which was horribly salty (she had to add water to it in order to eat it) and was nothing to write home about. Overall, a few items that the family got were good: the French fries, veggie burger, and the perch sandwich. Other than that, a severe disappointment and a place we will not return to. The service we received was horrendous and the idea of pushing a button for service makes you feel like you are not important to the restaurant. They need a reminder that we can make anything they offer at home just as well but we are paying them to cook it correctly for us and provide a high level of service to keep us coming back. Would not recommend!

Best Burger in WI. They're a little overpriced, but worth it. My favorite are the Pizza Burgers. (I'm sure they're not healthy, but I don't care) I've been going here since I was in High School. Every time the boys are in town we try to get here!

Krolls is located right next to Lambeau Field. If you don't see the sign you will miss it though. Had to try tbe Prime Rib sandwich that has been featured on Man vs Food. And an order of Cheese Curds is a must ... the service is so so but the food makes up for it. This place kind of gives you that old diner feel.

Kroll's West and East are Green Bay classics. If you are going to Kroll's expecting a fine dining experience you are foolish and wrong. You go to Kroll's to get a butter burger, fries, cheese curds, chili or a milkshake. The butter burgers are the best part, dripping with a hot pad of butter. The push for service buttons are cool and nostalgic, it's a part of the Kroll's experience. I have been going to Kroll's my entire life and would recommend it to anyone that isn't vegan or vegetarian.

We were there on a Friday night and waited for a table to open up. We were sat at a table that had not been cleaned yet, and had to wait awhile for it to be cleaned. Server was friendly, but rushed. Food was average but expensive. It's location next to Lambeau probably keeps it going, but I doubt I will be back to see them anytime soon.

Went to this location after hearing about it from my wife's parents. I looked it up on Yelp and thought I got a pretty good impression as to what to expect and I think the other reviewers who rated it similar to me nailed it. I went on Saturday night during the Packer game. Now, this review may be a little skewed due to an event that happens only on days the Packers play (at least at home anyway) and that is called "Gameday policy". On Gameday, you have to pay for your meal immediately (after receiving drinks) and you can only pay in cash. I have never heard of paying before you have even been served your entree....anywhere! Since this was very odd to me I had to ask the waiter why no credit cards and he seemed to be guessing and offering possibilities such as "Overloading their credit card machine". Also for reasons to pay so quickly is to address "Dine and Dashers". Like other reviewers we had about 4 waiters/waitresses. We also ordered the cheese curds and like another reviewer stated, more than a few were still frozen. There was no apologies and almost seemed like this wasn't the first time the person had heard of this problem before. They did get it corrected via a different waiter. We received our burgers via being dealt like cards from a dealer. Make sure you don't rip the paper that they are wrapped in since that is your plate/placemat So to sum up..the service isn't good at all. Now for the food....it was ok at best. The curds I would put in the lower top 20 and the burger was decent. The food however does not rise to a level that would let me endure such inept service and an even more ridiculous "Gameday policy".

Warning: Krolls is not for everyone. But it makes me weak in the knees. To put Krolls in perspective, I was thinking about it too much one Sunday and drove from Milwaukee to Green Bay and back just to have it. It's not fancy and it's not Kobe beef, but it's the greasy yummy burger I crave. The bun is crispy, the ketchup cheese and butter (yes butter) ooze together to form a perfect juicy greasy river that flows into your mouth with every bite. I think when Solly's makes a burger they (poorly) attempt to mirror Krolls. Also amazing at Krolls are their cheese curds. They are in a primo location literally across the street from Lambeau. What's unique about Krolls is that its so old school and old in general that you have buzzers at your table you can press whenever you want to bug the server. This comes in handy because it can be relatively slow service at times. But that don't matter, cuz once you get the burger you forgot about anything negative that may have happened before. Krolls cheeseburger are a very distinct style and taste and it's one that gets my heart beating fast. I have to stop thinking / talking about Krolls now, or I'll find myself in Green Bay. Til next time. In the meantime, I'll daydream about the addicting taste of Krolls.

Charming in an old family diner way. Service is seat yourself. Push a button for waitstaff. Sandwiches come wrapped in wax paper, no frills here. Fries are extra $2. Ordered burger, broasted perch, and brat sandwiches. All were good. Fried cheese curds were okay. Would have enjoyed more if weren't a bit on the cold side. Waitstaff was pleasant and looked like they'd been there since the place opened. Can see why it's a city favorite.

Are you at Lambeau Field? Are you starving after a game and nothing is open or close by? Go across the street for some eh, ok food. I liked the concept of Krolls when I was there, little diner looking place that you ring a bell for service. Menu looked to have good variety but unfortunately the food was just eehh. I was with 4 other people and none of what anyone had was all that tasty. One was a BLT however and you really can't mess that up too bad. Been there, done that, no need to go back. I will travel to find somewhere next time.

In my middle school days, my friends and I loved coming here after dances and such. It's mostly for nostalgia that I like this place. The service is always good. I remember even as an obnoxious pre-teen, the waiters and waitresses were always kind. Food is solid but greasy. When I'm in the mood for that, it's great.

This place is all about LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Great spot for game day eats because it's across the street. DOWNSIDES: over priced, soup is for sure not homemade - maybe half and half BUT MOST OF ALL staff is smile-less and rushes you out the door even when it's not busy. PLUS never been to a place that has Franzia on their wine list...might as well stick to beer!

This was one of, if not the most, odd and hilarious dining experiences ever. We came with a group and quite stupidly asked for help seating - ended up seating ourselves because the hostess only generally waved us towards the area with the largest tables. Service is slow and discombobulated to say the least. Despite other restaurant's success with the concept, Kroll's decides that assigning a single waitress to your table is not the way to go - yes, it's waitress by committee! We quite literally got our entire bill BEFORE we got a single morsel of food! As to the food, don't come hungry because you won't leave full. Portions are so small as to assume they want all of us to diet more. Presentation scores are below bad - my wife's cheese sandwich came wrapped in a wax wrapper as if she was about to put it into a lunch bag. No plate or anything, just handed to her - almost apologetically. My tenderloin sandwich was tasty but then descended into gristle-town. And, you have to say you'd like fries with that for $2.00 more - bizarre. I believe the only reason this establishment stays in business is the spectators for the Packers games - I can't imagine people coming back purposefully for poor food and even poorer service.

I was in Green Bay on business and had a little time on my hands so I wanted to see the legendary Lambeau Field. It was a very interesting place with so much tradition and legendary games and players. I ventured across the street to this little place. It was full of Packer fans, smoke and grease. This was my first introduction to cheese kurds and butter burger. They were good, but not great. I was more interested in the people and their discussions about whatever the Packer organization, players, draft picks, etc. It's pretty much all they talk about - all year long. So why the food is decent, the experience, at least my experience was very interesting and steeped in a long standing tradition. If they fixed the place up and spent some money Im sure they could expand their visibility but I don't think they care. The patrons are mostly locals, are friendly and fun to engage them in Football discussions.

Not impressed. Since the weather was not the greatest we stayed in town for fish(Barn Tavern so much better) anyway ordered the walleye, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Root beer was good. Fish was greasy and really no flavor. Mac and cheese was bland( they tried to pas it off like it was made in the oven). Potatoes were not very hot butter wasn't melted. Also was never greeted and its a seat yourself place. When you are ready to order you have to push a button. Very pricey for crappy food. For being next to the stadium I was surprised at the low quality of food. Will never come back.

Okay food. Went for lunch and ordered the kids drinks (milk), diet coke, and a cup of coffee, appetizer (mozz sticks) and some burgers. We waited 45 minutes and our food came all at once! To include our drinks. We had to ask for refills and nobody ever got back to is to see if everything was okay. The food was just okay, I've had better burgers. It was cooked on a charcoal grill and loaded with butter. We spent $50 for two adults and 3 kids...expensive, they didn't have any kids meals. Probably not go back due to how expensive it was and the excessive wait and horrible service.

I really feel like people continue to come here for the location and "ambiance". Of course there are a few items on the menu people feel are worth coming here for (cheese curds, chili and a butter burger). But the majority of the menu is overpriced and lacking in flavor. Of the few things I have had recently, the Oriental salad with the tuna is pretty good (one time the tuna was perfectly cooked, thr 2nd time it was overcooked), the turkey club was virtually flavorless and the caesar salad was romaine, small bits of parmesan and croutons with a cup of caesar dressing for $7.25 (absolutely not worth it)! I love their lemonade but charging $2.75 (which is also the price for a large soda) is definitely overpriced. Lastly, the service is extremely slow and not usually friendly.

Can someone explain to be what could possibly make this place so "legendary"? Because they put a pat of butter on your burger? Big deal. It's Wisconsin. We put butter on everything. So here's the actual review. We were seated with a "promise" someone would be back to take care of us. Never happened. Eventually another waitress came and asked if we'd been helped. When we said no, she seemed annoyed that she would have to take our order. Horrible order taking. Would not say what came with what. When my mother in law asked if the burgers came with fries she simply replied "not if you don't tell me you want some". Once the food was delivered (missing my ranch I ordered which is a thing I have), we didn't see another employee the rest of the time there. They were "gracious" enough to leave the bill with the food or we may still be there waiting. No one ever checked back to see how the food was or if possible we needed a refill to any of our empty drinks. We had to go to the bar to pay since, again, no one checked back. The staff all wandered around like they were lost. I'm assuming with it being an away game weekend they are relegated to the B team. But if this is their normal staff, I can't imagine how bad it would be during a home game weekend. Horrible overall experience for below average food. I'm sure it's a great place to tailgate for home games, but I'll stick with staying on the East Side of the stadium for my tailgating.

I don't understand the hype for this place. My friends from Green bay all told me I had to go here, and I don't understand why. The food was barely a step above McDonald's. In fact, I would have rather had a burger from McDonald's. My burger was burnt, and extremely greasy. Not to mention how low quality the meat was. A small bit of onion rings costed about 6 dollars. Which would be fine, if not for the fact that I received 8 rings. Do yourself a favor, and don't listen to the hype. It's not worth the $24 my dad and I paid for this subpar food.

Just your average place to eat. The waitress was very kind and attentive. Really seemed to care about her job. I had the burger, tots, and chili, per her recommendation. I can't say I liked or disliked any of it. Just a nice average place with average food.

It's like stepping back in time at Kroll's. I'm sure it's an amazing spot before, during, and after games but I'm not sure why anyone would go there any other time of year. We had fried cauliflower just because we were curious - it was pretty good actually. But really, what fried food isn't delish? Our burgers were delivered fast food style - no plates, just wrapped in paper which we thought was really odd. I had the pizza burger which is marked as a house specialty. I think in the future I'll keep these two foods separate. The hubs had the big k burger. Anything besides ketchup and mustard was an extra cost. He said the burger was a little overdone but liked the charcoal taste. Our meal for 2 people was $29. Because this is a "landmark" type place, we are glad we went - but once is enough for us.

Been coming here for years. I'm a burger maven, and in my opinion these are the best. They are simple, the ratio of bun to burger is perfect. (if you like a fatburger, where there is 2 pounds of meat and no bun this is not for you.) It's the crispy hard roll and the sharp cheddar that makes it. Don't add anything to it. My ONE complaint. The seats are too tight. I'm an average sized wisconsinite, which means beer gut, and the booths are tight for me. I can't imagine a GB packer lineman fitting at all!

This is where one goes to get a good burger in Green Bay. A good, solid burger. The buns are crusty on the outside, soft on the inside and toasted for extra dimension. The burgers come in more than one size and are finished off with a dollop of butter. The butter thing has never made sense to me until I have come here. I have had other sandwiches here, too, the tenderloin sandwich and BLT are both good. I have never walked away disappointed from Kroll's, but this is not the kind of place I would come if I were counting calories (unless I came for the chicken and dumpling soup--also very good). This is not a fancy place for a fancy meal, but the burgers and sandwiches are some of the best in the area. The cheese curds (mixed) are a fun compliment to a meal and are enough to share. My children love the malts, but the chocolate flavor is weak if you ask me. The only real downsides are the prices, which add up quickly for a family of 4, and lack of free soda refills.

Heather did an amazing job making sure our orders were taken care of, put in the football game we requested on the tv and was available to assist as needed. The food and drinks were really good; however, we found that the service outside of Heather wasn't very good. We waited nearly 30 mins between drink orders which I feel is unacceptable. I would come here again with the hopes that the bad service we experienced was just a fluke - especially with the close proximity (across the street) from Lambeau.

So I am from the green bay area and remembered going to krolls as a kid. Used to love the food. Now, I can't believe the prices and how little portions sizes are. I ordered a soda cup of soup a hamburger and cheese curds for 19.41 cents. They charge almost $3 for a soda. I don't know who these guys think they are, but the food is WAY TOO overpriced. Unbelievable. They think they are in downtown LA or New York. 19 dollars for 1 guy to get LUNCH! I travel all over the US and never seen this before. This is Green Bay and I had a burger!!! THEY SHOULD BE A SHAMED!

Kroll's West has become a must for those of us who return to Green Bay for occasional visits. It's been the only consistent restaurant, and I've had a lot bad restaurant experiences in Green Bay for some reason I can't explain. They may a bit overpriced but food quality (especially the perch) is excellent with a good selection of beers and fast bar service. I can always count on Krolls for a satisfied experience. Let's hope the ownership keeps promoting within the family and does not sell out to a corporation which I'm sure would ruin everything. One more thing they use a lot of butter so if you are counting cholesterol they do have many other items on the menu (without a bunch of little hearts) to choose from. Krolls does take advantage of their location across from the ever growing Lambeau Field with inflated prices. There is an East Side location but that is also high.

Great food for the price. The dinning room is a little dated and the booths do not accommodate larger peaple. The staff is very friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs!!! Something you don't find in most places these days. I will be back!!!!

A friend of mine (who can't be held responsible for being a Packers fan) directed me here when I asked him where to eat in Green Bay. I was traveling to Marshfield and because of weather got diverted from CWA to GRB and wow was I surprised. It sits right across the street from Lambeau Field and years ago they created a 'Wisconsin' style burger that has a large pat of butter on top. Makes for a non heart health option that is worth the risk! The patty is smaller than most but its fresh quality meat and the butter makes it SUPER delish! Drinks are cheapest I have found in a long time so thats a bonus. If you're in town and there's not a home game stop in. You wont be disappointed in those burgers.

I wouldn't recommend anyone going here, Unless you like mediocre burgers, salty soup, and bad service. Plus the prices are ridiculous for what you get. Find some place else if you are in the area.

A great meal and a must for the Packer tailgate experience!!! I'm from California and my son and I went to a Packers game this fall. It was cold and we got to the stadium early to check out all the tailgating and the whatnot. We were hungry around 11 am and had only heard good things about Kroll's, was suggested by the locals and it was worth it. Just a few things to know....the seating is fairly limited for the amount of people that visit it for game day so come early or expect to be patient for a table or booth. Also they only take cash, they do have an ATM machine but best to come with cash in hand. We got their deep fried cheese curd, brawt and the burger, yes, with the pat of butter. It may sound gross but it's not!!!! Real simple food done very well. I liked their curd but if you go to my review of Dykesville Bowl you'll get the low down on some better deep fried curd. The burger was thin but not dried out. Not a compacted fast food burger patty, loose and flavorful and on a soft brioche crusted type bun. Filling enough that when I ate at 11am I didn't need food for the rest of my day at the game that ended at 5pm. This place is for the fan, not for the person looking for a quiet place to hang before the game. It had a line out the door by 11:30 am. Not the cheapest food but will give you a feel for the local cuisine done well. Although I didn't go into it, there is a full bar attached to the restaurant and TV's everywhere with the day's game on them. A great stop on my Green Bay Packers adventure and tasty food.

A Green Bay institution, with a location in Chicago too. Stopped in for a quick lunch. Waited longer than necessary; you need to use the call button on the wall to get any service. Once you get their attention that way, the service is pretty good. Once we ordered things came pretty quickly. Prices were very reasonable. The food was, well, not health food. Sweetie had a burger with bacon and butter. Yep, a pat of butter under the top bun, oozing out and into everything. I had a bite and it was pretty darn good. I had booyah, the area's legendary chicken soup. Imagine the heartiest chicken vegetable soup ever, and you have some idea what it's like. It's pretty hard to find; typically served at church dinners, etc. I had had it before, from a lady who makes it in her house. It was better than Kroll's, but this was pretty good. Dense with meat and veggies, and a very flavorful broth. It's a pretty big place, with many TVs (all on the game.) Some Packers memorabilia and a location right near the stadium guarantee a good crowd.

Edible ... But poor. We had four people in our group and two didn't receive food as ordered. The fried chicken was good but the burger just plain sad. The clams were of a minimal amount and the sides were itty bitty. The seating is cracked and torn and booths date back to the 60s .. narrow and hard. Remodeled outside but the inside hasn't been touched since Dean Martin was a star.

The food used to be great here. Lately it has been going down hill fast. Our last visit our burgers were both over cooked on the outside and raw in the middle. Mine was so over cooked outside I had to send it back. I got it back and the bun was a hard roll instead of soft roll. By this point I was too hungry to complain again but the staff was the worst part. When I complained about my burger the waitress looked at me like "what's your point" so I had to ask for a new burger. My daughters applesauce was rotten tasting so I mentioned it to (what I assumes was the manager) and he gave me the same "what's your point" look. I had to ask for a different side. No apology for the terrible food and the service was a major turn off. It may be a while before we head back. Hopefully when we do it'll be like it used to be.

I hadn't had a Kroll's burger since 1991 so this was a treat. The place was packed and we were advised there would be a 30 minute wait from the time we ordered until we receive our food. We said "no problem" because I was not leaving GB without a Kroll's burger. The burger was great; buttery with very fresh cheese with a taste right from the farm. The cheese curds were phenomenal! A must-try if you go.

Giving this place 5 stars, not for food quality, but for service. We have been going here for many years and always ask for the same server. Diane has served Krolls for many years. She always has the same great smile and friendly attitude every time we have been there. She is a great asset to this business! If you are visiting this Popular Green Bay landmark, please ask for Diane, you won't be disappointed!

Great food but it is pricy. You pay for the atmosphere, location and history. Come to Krolls especially after a Packer game! If you aren't from Green Bay you have to give this place a try. Nothing else says Green Bay more than Krolls. Try a malt (chocolate) and the cheese curds are top notch. Their butter burgers are really good, as well as the chicken dumpling soup, and the chili is ok. Maybe the best part is using the little button to call your server. Kids love that.

I'm a Green Bay native but haven't been to Krolls west for years. Food was tasty (good clam chowder and double cheeseburger). Waitress seemed like we were a bother. She never refilled our water or asked if everything was ok. Will not return anytime soon.

Visited Lambeau on my way home from MI and they recommended this place. They were probably biased though since it's right next door but my group and I decided to try it out anyway since we were starving. Not a good place for big groups though. It's seat yourself and we had 15 so I asked the lady and she said there's two big booths in the back next to each other. But they were both booked so we had to settle for 3 tables close to one another. Make sure you press the button for service. Def did not realize that at first and sat there for a while. After reading yelp reviews, I decided to get a regular butterburger and the gf got a pizza burger and we shared mixed cheese curds. The butterburger is a heart attack. So greasy and even literally had a slice of butter in it. didn't melt, just chilling there. Delicious though, but totally unhealthy. The pizza burger was alright. It was pretty much exactly what it sounds like. The mixed curds were pretty delicious. Gotta get these when in WI of course. Though they're pricey. A little under 6 dollars for a handful. Our waiter never came back to the table after taking our order. A bus boy esq type person was the one that gave us our food. Luckily the waiter gave us a pitcher of water otherwise we never would have had a refill. Alright place, has its own style and vibe. Try it but not too often if unless you want to die soon.

The is a great place for a burger if you are near lambeau. They have very nice seating that is very comfortable. They have great cheese curds, but that probably isn't your biggest concern. Great place for the family

I heard they had the best burger ever here so we stopped by the day after going to a Packer game. I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, seat yourself, booths and big round tables, press a button to get service so you don't have someone hovering while you look at the menu and eat. Myself and the other person who ordered the cheeseburger both had big chunks fall out of our burgers as we picked them up. We both made the same mistake of thinking it was cheese when it was really a big chunk of butter (not that we have an issue with butter burgers...it was just odd). Looking at the way the cheese was hardened to the bun, I have a feeling that when you get the cheeseburger it is harder for the butter to melt. A friend who got a burger without cheese didn't have the same problem. I put the chunk of butter back on and squished it to help it melt. The taste of the meat was fine, but the toasted bun wasn't that great. It was thin and seemed over toasted, leading to it tasting like a stale bun. The cheese was completely hardened to the bun so none was even on the meat. Everyone reviewed the fries as crispy but ours were mushy, however they had good flavor. As I was paying our bill I heard someone else mentioning the cold butter chunk so maybe it was just an off day...but I probably wouldn't go back next time I'm in GB.

I like this place because it is a retro throwback to the 60s. I think all the lady customers look like my mother did back in the day. It isn't anything special but it's a landmark. The 'butter burger' actually comes with a couple big chunks of butter on it. The fries were crispy. I felt like I should have tried a shake. East or West, it's something everyone needs to do in the geebs.

Yikes. I am going to my first Packers game and am SO excited. We heard about this Green Bay staple and checked it out. The restaurant is hysterical because it's a typical Wisconsin diner with big chairs and booths. You rang for service by hitting a buzzer at the table. That was really cute. I REALLY wanted to like the food, but it was the worse food I've ever had. The milkshake wasn't made with real chocolate ice cream. It added Hershey's syrup to vanilla milk and possibly ice cream? It was disgusting. My tuna wrap was frozen and was obviously pre-made and kept in a very cool refrigerator. My dad's fish was cold and our salads were covered in dressing (when requested on the side) and had brown lettuce. Love the Packers, but even autographs by famous players can't save this dive...anyone who thinks this is good quality food needs to go to the quality diners in small towns all over the country...

Okay been here a lot over the years. The Burgers are very good you can get plenty of toppings and a hard or soft bun. When you bite into the Burger butter drips down your chin and it's great! Now with that being said I haven't found any other reason to come here the burgers are the only thing I find good. Staff isn't that friendly and the other good is overrated, but the burgers are food.

I'd rate it more of a 2.5 but it'd get a 4 if it wasn't for the absolute terrible service. We waited over 30 minutes after we ordered to even receive a coke. What I thought was a grilled cheese was not that great. The appetizer came out with all the food so we turned that back. The BBQ chicken pizza was delicious but a but pricey for the restaurant at about $21. We never saw our waitress after we ordered. The other items such as the cheeseburgers are very reasonable in price.

If you're the type who loves butter, salt, and grease oozing out of every crevice of your meal then Kroll's West is the place for you. If you're like me and prefer to take the healthier route - you might find yourself shit out of luck. This is not the spot for vegetarians. With that be said, take this review with a grain of salt. Being an "out of towner" in the Green Bay area, the bf had seen Kroll's West featured on Adam Richman's show "Best Sandwich in America". So naturally, that's all he talked about and was the only place he wanted to go all weekend. We walked in and seated ourselves in what has to have been the most uncomfortable booth my back and rear-end has even encountered. Needless to say, the decor lacked immensely. Then again, you're coming for beer and butter burgers right outside Lambeau Field, so I'm not sure one would expect a classy joint. You push a little buzzer and the server comes over to take your order. Since my vegetarian options pretty much consisted of a salad or grilled cheese, I asked the server if they were willing to make a veggie wrap for me. He looked at me as if I had 14 heads, but was happy to do so. The bf and the bro-in-law went with butter burgers. My sis went for a grilled cheese. We also ordered a side of onion rings, "whipped" potatoes, pasta salad, and french fries. I tried a little of everything and I'm not going to lie...although artery clogging, the butter burger was delicious - especially with bacon on top. But, I've had equally as good burgers elsewhere ((and for less)). My sister's grilled cheese was literally a couple slices of cheese between a salty and over buttered hamburger bun. Kinda gross. As for my wrap. It was literally a wilted garden salad inside of a spinach wrap. I give them props for trying, but it wasn't anything special. My side of pasta salad was a few rotini noodles covered with mayo and tuna - not quite what I expected. The server was happy to return it in exchange for a side of fruit. Sadly, I think the fruit salad was made and had been sitting in a bowl for two days. The highlight of the meal was the onion rings. Those were delish!! I should have ordered two sides of those. Prices are little over the top for the quality of the food, and everything is a la carte, so your bill can rack up quickly. Again, I just felt Kroll's came up a little short given I had such high expectations. And on a random note, the bathroom kinda reeked like a porta-potty which grossed me out. Another downfall in my book. Overall - Kroll's West gets 2.5 stars from me, but their customer service saved them from the 2 star rating. Maybe if I was more into chili dogs and butter burgers my experience would have been better, but Kroll's just left me wanting for much, much more. The bf left extremely happy....so, oh well, at least I took one for the team!

My first experience at Kroll's West was before the "Return to Titletown" event at Lambeau Field (Go Pack Go!). I was worried because I knew it would be busy... and it was, which is exactly why I was surprised to be seated within five minutes.... and get a waitress only a moment after that... and the food maybe 5 to 10 minutes max after that. There is a convenient buzzer at your table - When you're ready to order, just hit the buzzer and a waiter will be there. I went with the Cheeseburger on a hard roll, a side of white chedder cheese curds and a vanilla malt. All three were fantastic. The burger tasted almost up to par with my favorite burgers in Milwaukee (Kopps, Elsas, Mazos). My only issue was that it was a bit small for the price. The Malt was just as good as any custard or ice cream parlor would offer. The cheese curds were gooey and greasy - all that fun stuff that makes them amazing. Kroll's gets an A in my book for great service and fantastic food, just not an A+ because of the slightly smaller burgers compared to what I'd expect for the price. All in all, great place. Don't be scared to come here before a Packer game because the restaurant is huge and fully staffed to quickly move Packer fans in and out.

Very disappointing. Wife and I went on a Saturday evening. As we were looking at our menu the family next to us were finishing up their meal. When their waiter came over they tried to cancel their appetizers that they said never came. The waiter insisted they did and refused to take it off their bill. When we finally ordered we just ordered two single burgers. We waited and waited and after 45 minutes we just left. They were not busy and we could plainly see staff playing around in the kitchen. They seemed to have better things to do than to make our food. We will never go back.

spent a lot of time at the bar. definitely head to the bar side opposed to the dining room side. great bartenders, decent food - cheese curds were not bad, fiance really liked the chili. i knew i was in the midwest when they asked me if i wanted butter with my burger. good place to spend time before a game. filled with tons of friendly locals and regulars.

This is the ONLY restaurant I will give a 4 star review to that serves enough cholesterol to kill a horse. So I lived in Green Bay for 3 years before returning back to California. Now, I have lived in 5 countries and have been to every state in America (minus Montana, Alaska and Hawaii) and I can say with total confidence that Wisconsinites have the most unhealthy, disgusting diets out of ANY people I have encountered. Krolls is at the leading edge of keeping Wisconsin fat and on Lipitor. Krolls is known for their butter burger. It is a buttered cheese burger that comes wrapped in wax paper with grease dripping out onto the table. Due to all the hype I couldn't resist, so I took a bite of my buddy's burger. Now, if you love greasy burgers you will probably love the Kroll Butter Burger, but I have never been a "fast food" eater, so for me that one bite was more than enough! Krolls also sells chili that packs quiet a reputation. My cousin Jeremy (who lives in Sturgeon Bay) took some Krolls chili home, left it out on the counter over night, and the next morning it was a bowl of hardened white fat with the spoon standing straight up! GROSS!!! So, if this place is so revolting, why did I give it 4 stars? Permit me to explain: You see, when you are eating with a group of scuba diving cops and firemen, and you are the only diver in the group who prides herself on a healthy diet, finding a place where one guy can get a grease burger and the other person a healthy light meal, can be a big challenge (especially in Wisconsin where gravy is considered a beverage). However, Krolls pulls this off. They have the BEST chicken salad sandwich I have ever had. It comes on dark bread, and tastes fresh. It is also a steal at only $4. Also, the service here is awesome. The bartenders and service staff are always prompt and very friendly. They have huge screens for watching sports events, and nice big tables with very comfortable chairs. Located across the street from Lambeau Field, it is a great place to crash out at after a Packers game. And, interestingly enough, I have seen several of the Packers players in here before for drinks. Krolls West has a rich history with the Packers and the city of Green Bay. It offered a nice atmosphere and gives off a vibe like you are stepping back into time. When I go back to Green Bay for some ice diving and to visit my friends, I will hit up Krolls for a chicken salad sandwich and to watch fat people eat spoon-fulls of congealed lard.

This is a famous spot across from Lambeau field, during game days a fan packed location. I've been here both on a game day and during the off season and the food has been the same. I'm not impressed with the burgers and I love butter burgers... the cheese curds are fine but I've not ever been impressed with the other food I have tried. The service is good and it's always fun to talk to people when there... just set your expectations properly for the food.

I might be giving them a higher rating just b/c it's right across the street from Lambeau Field. Have to get the burger. Real WI butter burger, heart attack on a toasted bun. Oh, add bacon for a real heart clogger. We also ordered a cup of chili. I'm not a fan of spaghetti or any pasta in my chili, but this was pretty tasty. My memory could be a bit skewed due to all the bloody mary's and early morning beers that were consumed. The decor is swank late 60s style with big curved booths and hanging lights. Service is super fast and briskly friendly. They have a lot of room in the dining room, counter, bar, and an outdoor area during home games. This is the place to be after the game. Get in the bathroom line early before everybody from Lambeau descends upon Kroll's West.

Old Green Bay restaurant next to Lambeau field...butter burgers are nice, local soup, which is called booyah, is the best I had in the area. Lighting in Kroll's West is really darker than usual, but the ambiance and the service was even better than expected. Perfect for the family.

I have been hearing about Kroll's on a monthly basis since I started dating my boyfriend 5 years ago. Being a huge Greenbay fan and originally from Neenah, Wi, he loves Kroll's almost (almost) as much as he loves Lambeau field. After every visit back he would rave over the chili & butter burgers. Naturally on my first visit I was immediately dragged to Greenbay to visit the stadium, but first I had to try the chili. Although the chili was great and I can totally imagine how good a bowl of Kroll's chili must be in the middle of a harsh Wisconsin winter, I was not game enough to try a butter burger. I like my arteries unclogged thank you very much. Instead I opted for a baked potato and a cup of chili which hit the spot and made me warm a little more to Wisconsin & the thought of spending an entire afternoon touring a football stadium. My only complaint would be that the staff was a little cold, and seemed annoyed that we came in such a large group, nearly 10. We were ignored for almost 10 minutes in the back room which had the only table large enough to accommodate our party.

Summary: Friendly service and good crowd can only make up so much for the terrible food. Food: Ordered the "famous" chili, cheese fries, a tuna salad sandwich, and a milkshake. The texture chili was overly mushy and it just didn't taste very good. They even offer to sell the spice mix for the chili - but I'm not sure who would want to buy it when I can get a decent mix that tastes better from the grocery store for under a buck. The cheese fries were not any better. The fries were under-fried and then adding nacho cheese sauce didn't help the overall texture. If anything, they should overcook the fries before smothering them. The tuna salad sandwich was drowning in mayo. The milkshake tasted very artificial - but at least they let me order the child size so I didn't have to waste much. Overall, the food was pretty terrible, but at least it was cheap. Service: Friendly. This service is attentive as you want it to be since there is a call button at each table for when you need it. I wish more restaurants had this! Ambiance: The dining area is a little dated, but at least every seat at every table has a view of one or more televisions. So pretty nice for watching the games. Wait time: None. I hear that during Packer game days, guests can have some wait though. Miscellaneous observations: I'd probably come back some day just to tailgate for a Packers game.

The BEST cheeseburger and chili you will ever have all at one restaurant. The butter burgers are very greasy but they are good! The chili is easily my favorite chili I've ever had. I don't even need a menu when I go here. I always get a cheeseburger with everything and a bowl of chili. If you have never been here you must go there for your next meal. They have a lot of other choices too. So if burgers aren't your thing I am sure you will find something you'll like. They always have a fun party before Packers game too. If you are looking for a place to hang out with fans, listen to music, and have a beverage before games then Kroll's should be considered.

Wanted to up my star rating now that I've gone more regularly. We went later at night once and the dining room was closed, but they were still serving food in the bar, so that's where we went. We were informed that if you eat at the bar (which has VERY comfortable seating on one side) they don't tip share. I'll tell you, that one little thing makes a world of difference! LOVE the bartenders at Kroll's! We actually went 6 months without setting foot in there and as soon as we walked in, the bartender asked us about the kitten we'd found on the last day we went in there. Very, very solid comfort food. I had the grilled cheese with sweet potato fries, both of which were excellent. Our table also loved the burgers as well as the milkshakes. The booths are also comfy, and the waitstaff is willing to change the channel on the numerous TVs to any game you want to watch (as long as it's available and you ask nicely). Iconic and delightlful Green Bay restaurant.

Stopped here on the way home from a Casino trip. I had a Broasted Perch Sandwich that had 4 perfectly cooked pieces of fish on great bun with a slab of butter (hey, this is Wisconsin)~! We love those burgers at Kroll's! Cheryll had a Seaburger and Whipped Potatoes. I had a Kroll's hamburger with everything on and a BLT Salad. Service was fast and attentive. Food was great. The restaurant is always clean.

Hard to believe it, but I like the offspring of this restaurant located in the S.Loop in Chicago, better than its namesake in Green Bay. While I hate to compare and contrast, I found myself doing just that. Finding myself in the land of cheeseheads, I knew I wanted some down home Wisconsin food and Kroll's always delivers on that. This location, right across the street from Lambeau Field has been here since the mid 70's. I love that you can pull up and park your car under the gaily colored awnings meant to keep the sun(or in the case of tonight, the rain) off of your car as you enter the building. You walk into the large cinder block building and the sign says "Seat yourself". Okay. Large round booth with swivel chairs on wheels, or standard booth or table? We chose the large round booth. The beer list in Chicago is also much more extensive. Here- there were 10 beers on tap and a range of bottled beers but nothing like the huge list of boutique beers at the Chicago location. The menu? Almost the same as the one in the S.Loop with one huge exception. NO TATER TOTS! What? I love Tater tots and the one in the S.Loop serves them loaded topped with liquid cheese, bacon and sour cream. Even the fried cheese curds could not make me happy. For dinner, I had the broasted chicken, mashed potatoes and a salad. Huge portions, and delicious. Couple that with a few cold beers and I almost forgave them for the Tater Tot infraction. Almost. Service was attentive, the hostess who took our money was inquisitive, "Where are you from, hon?" and the prices were reasonable. Now if I could only convince them to put Tater Tots on the menu- they might just get another star!

My wife and I went to Kroll's after being told "you HAVE to try Kroll's!" It's like walking back to 1962 and they have great food - burgers, sandwiches, etc. Well, I beg to differ: After travelling, my wife was in the mood for "real food," so instead of ordering a burger or sandwich, she got shrimp with mashed potatoes and a salad. I ordered an increadble sounding "baked tenderloin steak" with mashed potatoes and a salad as well. We also ordered the deep-fried cheese curds as an appetizer. First, the service was horrible. The waiter looked confused when we asked opinions on ANY of the menu items, so we just went with our guts and ordered the food mentioned above and a couple of cocktails (the only good thing that night). The food all came out at once - obviously they don't know what an appetizer is. The curds were ok, but not crispy and a bit cold. My wife's shrimp tasted fine, but both our mashed potatoes were ICE cold. Couldn't even begin to melt the butter that was placed in the center - also, they were not home-made. That's fine, lots of places use Trio mashed potatoes, but serve them HOT please! So after hitting our little "service" button a couple times, our very confused waiter took our plates to have them warmed. I will give the nice waitress who assisted him an A for effort - she got new potatoes on behalf of her slower work-mate and made sure they were very hot and melty. Now for the really bad part: My baked tenderloin steak. $16.00 would have been a great value for 2 nice 5 oz cuts that they brought me, BUT they had a strange flavor. You know when your oven catches on fire (oil spilling, etc), or a frying pan catches on fire? There is a putrid smoke that forms and blackens everything in the area. Well, that's what my steaks tasted like. The first one went down ok - dipped in in the au jus, and just had a slight "strange" flavor. Even let my wife have a taste. Very tender, cooked almost right - but then I got to the 2nd steak and that smoke flavor was all I could taste. It wasn't the "good" smoke flavor, but the one described above. Plus, the second cut was almost raw...which I could get around if it didn't taste so horrible. My wife and I were both nauseated and burping up this horrible flavor for at least 12 hours - into the next morning. I'm NOT claiming food poisoning or anything here - it was that smoke. Perhaps I should have taken the advice of the people that recommended this place and ordered a burger - but we spent more than $50.00 for dinner and a drink here - the food should at least be palatable! Unfortunately, I will never know what their other menu items taste like, because I will never set foot in there again. Horrible service, and as far as I can tell, HORRIBLE food.

CHEESE and BUTTER... Wisconsin must haves. Just when you think your arteries are plugged enough... I don't normally review fast food places, but as a local legend, I think it deserves one. This place has been around for some time I think. They specialize in chili and butter burgers I gather. They put a load of butter on their burgers. As heart clogging as they are, they are quite good. I've had a few different sandwiches and burgers, all pretty good. I had a salad once, not their specialty, just average at best. Their appetizers are from the deep fried cookbook. Tasty, but can be expensive for the size. They also have decent shakes. The chili tastes good too. Overall, the food is pretty good, but is expensive. When you order a burger, keep in mind that nothing else comes with it. You have to order fires separately. Also, if I recall correctly, there are NO free refills on soda. I have water, so I'm not entirely sure. The service is OK. It's a bunch of high school kids I think After you sit down, you look at a menu, then press a button at the table. After a few minutes, a server will take your order at the table. They also provide you a very small glass of water when you sit down. The decor is of course football themed, as it's only a few hundred feet from Lambeau Field. The place seems to be old, but well kept. It seems clean as evidenced by the restrooms and carpet and such. We will continue to come here once a year during a trip to Green Bay.

Beef burgers with butter slathered on the bun, and a small pat of butter on top for good measure. Plus chili that, when ordered, requires that you make a decision of "on spaghetti or in a bowl". Yes. YES! It is very good comfort food, and an excellent wait staff. Free refills on drinks, plus free wi-fi as well. Good to go. The only reason that I refuse to give a five star review for this great local restaurant is that they do not accept American Express. As a business traveler that's where all my expenses are charged, and should be a staple for all restaurants for just that reason. Visa and MasterCard only here.

Ok food, but then not much else to compare to in the immeadiate area unless you go towards the highway or the other side of Lambeau. Deffinately not as good as Krolls East (not connected at all). Biggest disappointment is that they were recently featured on Man Vs. Food at the start of this NFL season. They lead you to believe that the sandwhich that was featured is a longstanding menu item...but it's not. I've eaten there a few times but never had that. When i saw it, i said I must try that and see for myself. The waitress told me they never sold that sandwhich before and it was only a special they did for the MVF show. Talk about misleading.

My wife and I along with my brother and his wife were really looking forward to coming here; boy were we disappointed! My brother and I got the prime rib sandwich that was supposed to be awesome (it was the sandwich featured on man vs. food). It had no flavor and looked nothing like it did on the show! My wife had a pulled Pork sandwich that tasted like low grade meat w/ cheap barbecue sauce slabbed over it. My sister-in-law got a Reuben sandwich that tasted like crap and all if us had unedible soggy fries. We had a waitress that took our order and never came back! We got the two beers we ordered from some other guy that worked there, but the girls didn't get their drinks so we were on the search again to find someone else to bring them to us! I asked the hostess to see the manager. She seemed very suspicious of us; asking what it was exactly about each sandwich we did not like. She asked if she could come to the table to question my brother and our wives. She did come to the table to explain how this usually never happens and she wanted to make it up to us by sending us off with 4 "famous hamburgers" she claims we're so great. Well let me tell you, the amount of cholesterol-inducing grease would put Paula Deen to shame. Skip this one yo.

Disclaimer: I am not a big meat or hamburger fan. In fact, I tend to steer clear of just about anything "cow"...... HOWEVER! I ordered the Kroll's Original Hamburger with Sharp Cheddar and fries and was absolutely stunned when my tummy told me to order more. I was in love with this hard roll and butter they are famous for putting on a hamburger. THANK you Joe for leading me into the butter burger light! Fries looked great and tasted even better, my diet coke was flowing from the bar (Vickie was awesome). And I'd go back in a heartbeat to try the chili!

I live in AZ now, but I've always been a fan of Kroll's. Unfortunately, it has become an overpriced tourist trap for Packers fans. No free refills on soda...are you serious? The burgers are still wonderful, but the prices are absolutely ridiculous.

Wonderful food. A little pricey for the type of food they offer (burgers and perch and other pub style foods). But the food is so good you don't mind the inflated price.

This was my first experience with a butter burger. My husband had wanted to take me to another spot on our trip, but it was closed due to the labor day holiday. After reading reviews on here we decided to check this place out. I was pretty impressed. The burger was delicious, especially the crispy grilled bun. I was kinda bummed we didn't have to buzz out waiter, as some reviewers had mentioned. Our waiter was attentive and service was quick, but once we got our food never to be seen again. We realized we payed as we leave a few minutes after we finished our meal and were back on the road.

A great burger with allot of flavor ,chili was real good served over spaghetti ? But still tasty ,the service was friendly and fast ,if you can't find it ,it is directly across the street from a huge John Deer dealer in Green Bay my only complaint was the bill being $25 for 2 burgers a cup of chili and fried cauliflower for that much at least put the burgers on a plate not just wraped in paper like some fast food dump

Stopped here for a cheeseburger on our way up north and couldn't of been happier with the burger. I ordered the sharp cheddar cheeseburger with everything on it (Ketchup, Pickles, BUTTER, & Onions) the bun was perfectly toasted, the burger perfectly cooked and the sandwich was juicy enough to use around 5 napkins. I agree that the burger is on the small side so when I go again I'll be ordering the double. On the side I had an order of Chili Cheese Fries due to all the positive reviews on the chili. I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur on chili cheese fries and these were not good, the cheese was of the canned orangish yellow variety with a good portion of Krolls chili that was in my book just OK. Our waitress was very friendly and the beers nice and cold. Overall a very good experience from start to finish and one of the better burgers I've ever had!!!

This is total Wisconsin-make-yourself-feel-better food! GREAT burgers. A fabulous landmark restaurant in Green Bay- you MUST try it if you're there for a game! Totally old school though! This place hasn't been remodeled... like ever! Don't worry about your surroundings though... you're there for a burger!

This place is classic. Butter burgers and GB style chili. It is a must for anyone from outside the region. We grew up on Kroll's and stop in every chance we get.

Both Kroll's locations in Greey Bay are landmarks. The place has been around forever and features really good chili, burgers (they come with a pad of butter on them and a toasted bun, cut in half), and perch. It has an old time feel and could use a bit of updating. However, the nostalgia and food make it worth the stop.

Pulled in - was totally psyched. Right across from Historic Lambeau Field... Great sixties atmosphere... Including the fact that the place was thick with nasty, acrid smoke. The nonsmoking seating is sandwiched between the smoking section and the bar - also blue with cigarette smoke. Even sitting at the diner counter, all I could taste was other people's smoke. Absolutely disgusting. I could not stay. Working there must have easily taken years off the lives of the staff. First time I have ever left a restaurant before ordering. Get a clue! People won't NOT eat somewhere if they can't blow smoke on strangers. Letting people smoke in a restaurant is so disrespectfully prehistoric.
