Unfortunate. We entered the restaurant at little after 8pm, Wednesday, the third of September. The bus person placed water on the table. Our waiter passed us twice without any interaction despite having lengthy interactions with two other set of patrons. We were already on the fence about this restaurant due to some of their uninspired, gerontological signature entrees but the service led us to walk out after twenty minutes of no interaction with the waiter. What a great location but they need to try harder. Good luck Hom Bayshore, you are going to need it.

I came with my family, a fairly difficult group, and they handled it very well. Staff was very kind and helpful. Not very busy while we were there but the food took about 30 minutes to come out. Ordered a burger medium well and it came very rare.

I truly enjoyed our food...but, the plate didn't match the menu. We has the Friday fish fry. The menu said it came with applesauce. None of the plates had it and we had to ask for it. The bus person stopped by more often than our waiter. The bussman brought more soda and refilled ou warer glasses. Our table was always clean. Food good but a bit in the upper end. Wait service was just a wait. All in all, a solid four stars. Goof food and very pleasant surroundings.

My wife and I went there last night because it was new and we wanted to see what it was like. The prices are moderate starting at around $9 and going up to about 35. She got a bacon blue cheese cheeseburger and I got the fish. Yes for cheddar instead of blue cheese and it normally comes with fries after about a 40 minute wait it showed up with blue cheese on it and a baked potato on the side instead. They brought her French fries and replace the burger in a timely fashion. When I got my fish I was sort of disappointed for $13 I got 3 very small pieces of fish two very small 3 inch potato pancakes which were overcooked unseasoned coleslaw and very bland applesauce. The server was very nice though the kitchen was very slow and could not seem to get the order correct overall I was disappointed and probably will not be going back again. It seems that they spend all their money on the appearance of the restaurant and not so much in the kitchen.

I had the Wisconsin melt, which was like a hamburger, except it was on rye bread (not sure if the bread was a winning combination though, the rye bread god soggy pretty quickly). Sandwich prices were pretty reasonable. Everything ranged from 8-12 dollars. The fries were really good. Super crispy on the outside, then soft on the inside. Their ingredients are apparently all locally sourced. The service was nice, but I would agree with the other comments in that they were a bit slow. We went in at lunch time and it was fairly empty. I would give it another shot though!

I loved it here and want to go back and try every menu item. Had the wings, buffalo cheese curds, ribs & WI burger. Our server was friendly.

I am a HUGE fan of the Surg family of restaurants and am familiar with their standards of quality. Hom has their signature classy, yet comfortable atmosphere- very rustic, yet upscale. The menu is varied and features some great options. Love the farm-to-table concept and use of locally sourced ingredients. Only two disappointing things during my first visit there tonight: the shrimp cocktail was lousy. Small chewy (rubbery) shrimp on a dish with some bottled cocktail sauce-- Better suited for Red Lobster, not a Surg property. I expected the same HUGE shrimp I've had at Carnevore, but with some light grill marks imparting that signature wood fired flavor and presented with some flair. Also, the cheesecake was "meh". When you cut from a larger piece and leave it in the fridge, it leeches moisture and becomes gummy. The Door County cherry topping was great, but all the cherries and an inordinately large mountain of fresh whipped cream can't save gummy cheesecake. The other dinner items (5oz filet, creamed corn and a flank steak special) were quite good. Service was wonderful- our waitress was friendly and certainly attentive. Will I go back? Not sure. Especially with Devon's right around the corner.

Went here with my sister and her husband and I ordered the HOM burger. I must say my burger was not exciting whatsoever. I ordered the HOM burger medium well and it came out well done. The wood grill flavor was there but, it was just ok nothing special and the fries were way salty. My sister ordered the fire grill chicken sandwich and she gave me a sample and it was over smoked. My brother-in-law's beef strogenoff was apparently mediocre, which was supposed to have a dill flavor, but was absent from the dish. All in all the experience was not pleasing. Oh yeah the wait staff was pleasant, but when we complained about the chicken sandwich a guy came over, who didn't introduce himself, and asked if he could correct the chicken sandwich? He had a very unenthusiastic attitude and seemed disingenuous. So no, I would not recommend this place.

What started out to be a fun graduation dinner, turned out to be a lesson learned. We all ordered and the waiter read back our orders correctly. Everyone received their dinner except for one that ordered chicken and another that ordered a burger. After everyone finished eating, the waiter said that the burger would be coming soon. The forgotten chicken was never mentioned until we asked about it. The waiter apologized but we told him that we were finished and didn't wanted the food after waited 1 1/2 hrs. The manager finally came and asked what she could do. They comped the meals we never got and brought the check. Charging only for the meals we didn't get. After we paid, they came w another check charging for all the other food. So at the end, service=terrible. Food=okay. Warning: stay away from this place!!

I had the signature pork chop and my girlfriend had enjoyed her meal also. the sauce that came with the German gnocchi was just rather not pleasant! overall the meal was great! wait staff was attentive also

Prices were way too expensive for what you get. Had the tomato salad for $8. It was two slices of mozzarella and four slices of tomatoes. The waitress was very nice though, so that's why they even get two stars.

Good food...needed to send everything back to get properly cooked. But second time around yummy!! They just have an issue with under cooking. I think after a few more months practice they will be a four star!

Knowing the COA Mexican restaurant which was there before, I was surprised to see the interior. Almost looks like a barn. Love that style. Different to the other Bayshore Mall restaurants. The variety of the meals is ok, but no beer on tap. Too bad. I had the Friday Fish Fry (kinda w/o any taste) which came with a over-salty potato pancake and some apple compote. My spouse had a salad which wasa better choice. When we saw finally a new restaurant in that spot (after being empty for ages after COA left), we were so glad and decided to give it a try. But hey, we expected something better.

Somehow, this location can't achieve the standards of their Brookfield location. Dinner last night was mediocre at best. I had the Beef Stroganoff, which was akin to soup --- more sauce and noodles than beef. My husband has the fish fry, which was edible. Ordered the Brussel sprouts to add some green to our dinner, and that was disappointing too (washed out vegetables masked with a lot of bacon to appeal to those who don't care about their health). This was the third time I tried this place, and I was really hoping that they had turned a corner by now. Sadly, I now think they'll never get it. I won't go back again.

I was pleasantly surprise. Didn't head there with high expectations. Prices were reasonable. Staff was very friendly. I would go back and try again.

Gosh, I feel like I've been a negative Nancy on ye olde Yelp site of late, and yet much like George Washington, I cannot tell a lie. I had high hopes for Hom, even though the deliberate mis-spelling had me irked from the start. I was envisioning a northshore farm-to-table, wood-fired grill version of Parkside 23. Now wouldn't that be something? But no, no, no, no, no, no, no. That is not what this place is. Now, I will say the bar is lovely and I'd return anytime for a happy hour cocktail with a willing partner in crime. I just wouldn't go if I was hungry. I might even pre-eat before said happy hour so as to not chance it. Because the food in this place? It was downright off. My friend and I had the beer cheese soup which was ok. From there, my friend had the "pan-fried chicken" which actually appeared to be baked chicken, and I had the chicken pot pie, which was actually a skillet filled with luke warm pot pie filling topped with a kind of hard biscuit. I did not come close to finishing it, and I am a frequent flyer of the Clean Plate Club. The manager stopped by to inquire if we were enjoying our meal. My friend and I kind of nodded/shrugged/made high squeaky noises and when he was out of ear shot admitted there was no enjoying involved. There was chewing. There was swallowing. There was tolerating. But enjoying was not on the list. Sadly, I can't imagine this place will ever last - not even in the restaurant desert known as the northshore.

My boyfriend, friends and myself went to Hom for the first time tonight and absolutely loved it. They had a great drink selection. The Blackberry Old Fashion was delicious. They also had a very yummy Scotch Ale, which I always appreciate. Our server, Michelle, was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was excellent. I love how they tell you where in Wisconsin the ingredients are from. We were here celebrating a friend's birthday, which meant our dessert; that we all shared, was on the house. That's another great touch. The ambiance is awesome, you can tell it was done by Flex Design. Also the nice fireplace outside was great for us smokers. We will all be back! Great job on bringing a lovely restaurant to the MKE area :)

Good Food, Great Server, Terrible Manager! I organized a party of 12 at Hom for my mom's birthday this past Friday night. When making the reservation they asked if it was a special occasion and I mentioned the birthday. About half our group was running the typical 10 minutes late. I explained this to the staff, apologized and they were very understanding. They even offered to seat the part of the group that was there. Once everyone arrived, our server Kayla immediately introduced herself and asked who the birthday person was. Kayla congratulated her and it was a nice touch. Our drink order was taken right away and came within 5 minutes, even with numerous bar items. Our dinner order was taken quickly afterwards. Several people got soups and salads but no apps. The soups and salads came out within 10 minutes. The chili was very good as was the French onion soup. The beet and cheese salad got rave reviews from those who tried it. The table bread was also a hit - soft interior with a slight crust. Our entrees came out about 20-25 minutes later, seemingly quick for a large group. Most in our party got various sandwiches: roasted veggie sandwich (high marks although two people ordered this and the amounts of veggies varied quite a bit between the plates), Wisconsin melt (good, standard), black and blue burger (very good). One person got the hanger steak special with bourbon glaze and said it was great. Another got the pan roasted chicken. She said it was moist and seasoned well, plus the portion was huge. I had the pork chop with spatzle and braised cabbage. It was very good although it did not have a strong mustard flavor despite mustard being very prominent in the description (still very tasty) and was cooked medium well when my requested temperature was medium (again, still very good and would definitely order it again) There was also a spicy chicken sandwich. Several bites in, my brother's GF asked me if the chicken looked done all the way. To be fair, it did not look pink. She said it had a strange texture and didn't seem done. I felt it with my finger and it had a gelatinous texture, not the firm texture of fully cooked chicken. When Kayla came back around, my brother's GF very quietly told her the chicken didn't seem done all way, it felt "soggy" and undercooked. Kayla apologized and said she'd get a new one right away. A minute or two later a manager came by and stood at the head of our table and said loudly, "I understand there was a problem with a chicken sandwich? I'm cooking a new one right now but I want you to know I personally checked it and any pink you saw was moisture from the tomato on top of the chicken. The chicken was fully cooked but we're cooking you a new one anyway. I just wanted to make sure you knew. " This manger's response came across incredibly rude. He also gave his little speech loudly enough for all the tables around us to hear. Perhaps he was trying to cover his @ss for serving undercooked chicken but it was a major turnoff. All in all, except for the undercooked chicken (which I will vouch, was in fact slightly undercooked - the center was gelatinous to the touch) and the rude and embarrassing behavior by the manger, the Hom experience was a good one. Kayla was a great server to our large group. I didn't catch the manager's name but I would consider going back if he wasn't there. Otherwise I don't think I will. Unfortunately bad leadership will eventually ruin a good place and I don't want to be the one paying for it. I can't see rating this place any higher at this time simply because the manger did his best to ruin our special evening and I suspect he will do the same for the entire business. **One other note: About half way through dinner my brother in law went to change my 2 year old nephew's diaper. He came back a minute later saying the men's bathroom didn't have a changing table! This is an issue in and of itself. It was even more of an issue because my sister was busy feeding and changing my 4 week old niece. Fortunately we had plenty of other women who could take care of the issue but a dad should be able to change his child's diapers. It's 2015, Hom!**

Love the "everything made from scratch" concept about their menu. You have to appreciate the fact that not a lot of restaurants do that anymore, it's about cheap and quick. Our waitress mentioned twice their ranch is homemade but didn't get it until we tasted it. Super good with the cheese curds and fries. The steak filet was on point "medium" as I requested and I literally could taste the wood fire grill in it. I'd definitely would go back and hope good restaurants like these stay open. I've tried Devon in Bayshore and thought this one was way better. No...I'm not being paid to say that LOL!

The atmosphere and laid back setting was absolutely amazing. Not to mention the soothing sound of jazz after a hard day at work. BUT none of that makes up for the awful VERY BLAND half chicken dinner I ordered. I'm not hard to please but i was quite disappointed. Hopefully your experience is much better than mine

Had a late lunch here today. Service was good....the food was served almost cold. I ordered a Wisconsin melt and my husband ordered the stroganoff. They were both served barely warm. I mentioned it to our server and he was willing to reheat, redo, or whatever. I'm reluctant to do this. The flavor was there. It came out quickly which makes me think it is partially cooked ahead of time. The cheese on my patty was not melted. Another patron sitting close by stopped and said their mac and cheese was not heated through also. Too bad. Can't believe that they came out of the kitchen like this.

Drinks took 20 min...two of the four were wrong...replacements still wrong...sandwiches (various hamburgers) took almost an hour...and were mediocre ...atmosphere on a Saturday night was noisy with many young children...waitress was most apologetic and genuine...manager arrived at the table and said the food would be up shortly......no reason to return to this restaurant."...a disappointing evening
