I'm surprised i"m the first person to be Yelping about this place. It's located in the middle of tourist country. Splash is right on Castle Rock Lake so you can go by boat or vehicle. Splash is about 15 minutes north of the intersection of 82 and Z, or 10 minutes south of Z and 21. I visited Splash for the first time in August 2010. I ordered a BBQ burger, our party of 4 also ordered the large nacho platter. I don't know the name of the platter but it is huge. The nachos will take 4 grown adults to eat. Honestly it'd make more sense for everyone to share a nacho platter and another appetizer then to get individual entrees. The service has always been good. Seems like every summer that I make it up there it's busy when I head up. This summer 2012 I was there and the dinner menu seemed a bit more pricey for the quality of the food. I ordered jumbo shrimp and they were just ok My better half ordered the cheesy chicken and she wasn't too impressed. I honestly think a place like Splash should stick with normal bar fare. The burgers have always been good as have there appetizers. When ever we've ordered regular dinner entrees we haven't been all that pleased. I think from now on we will stick with burgers here. Keep in mind the nachos will fill 4 adults up so don't order them in conjunction with regular dinner entrees.

I own a vacation place near Splash and have been going to the restaurant for over 15 years. I unfortunately believe the only reason the place does any biz any more is due to its location on the lake. The service has gone downhill over the past five years and the food is not of great quality. About the only thing that is good are the over poured drinks. This past weekend (Fourth of July of all weekends) we came in with three people and were seated on the outdoor deck. Two of the four plastic chairs at the plastic table were cracked and pinched your back or legs depending..... The waitress finally came out to bring menus and take a drink order after we had to go inside to get her. It then took her 10 more mins for her to bring them out and take our food order. Thank god the weather was nice because the ticket time for our food was over 35 mins for a burger, salad and chicken fingers!!!! The good thing was that it only took her 20 minutes to bring the check after we asked for it!!!! fast-forward a day, we come in with seven people, Yeah I know.... again, location, location location...... there were two open tables to seat eight that were not cleared yet inside. I was able to finally flag down a random guy that worked there to request a table but that seemed to be too much of a task for him as he had to go outside. I then was able to get a waitress that was able to have one cleared and we were then seated. She was quick to bring the menus and take the drink orders but you can tell that the manager, whom is also the bartender, was too busy with her regulars at the bar to process the drink tickets and that most of the waitresses were waiting on drinks. It took about 10 mins for 7 waters, two sodas and one of their special drinks to arrive to the table. The waitress then took the appetizer order and left for 5 mins. She came back to take the food order and was nowhere to be found for a long while. The appetizers finally showed up after 30 mins and our drinks were empty but the waitress was MIA. Not to mention the manager was happily tending to her friends at the bar and oblivious to all of the short coming at her establishment. Meanwhile a group of 8 had come in and sat at the other open table. Glancing over we noticed that they had similar issues with drinks and appetizers. We had finished our appetizers and we actually had to bus our own table since no one came around to do so. The waitress reappeared and asked if we would like more drinks, at this point water was about the only timely option so that is what everyone had. We noticed that we had been here now for and hour and fifteen minutes and no food!!! I then flagged down Mr. Helpful from earlier and explained to him we had other plans for the evening and needed our food out asap otherwise we needed to cancel the food and leave. He then ran around to find the waitress who went in tizzy and ran into the kitchen, five mins later our food appeared. I asked the waitress to have the manager come over, that onlyt took her 10 mins (must be a magic number) to tear herself away from the bar and ask what we needed. I discreetly told her of our service issues that day and her response was "I don't know what to say, we are busy" then she had a blank stare. She offered to remove the drink and appetizers from our bill, said sorry and left. We then notice that the other table is having issues and that their food hasn't showed up for over an hour. They had the waiter come over, who then runs back to the kitchen and appears with food a few mins later. They apparently had the order wrong and sent a plate back. By this time we are done and our waitress can now not stop coming by our table..... we request the check. While we are waiting a lady from the other table comes over to ask if they can have our silverware since Splash is out!! (you can't make this stuff up)! We hadn't used most of ours, gave it to them and got to talking. Come to find out they know the manager personally, come there often and have the same complaints as of late. On the way out we were stopped by one of the waitresses who said they had three tables leave because the food never came and that the four cooks in back have no clue and that the manager doesn't care. The thing that gets me is that Splash is basically a seasonal place on the water. It's big biz is Memorial weekend thru Labor day weekend, as is everyone's on the lake. The place was not slammed and the manager just seemed to not give a crap.

Our first red flag should have been that the hostess could not tell us how long the wait would be. The second was that there seamed to be plenty of waitresses, but tables were uncleared and people were sitting around without drinks, and one table without menus. We only waited 15 minutes until we were seated. We ordered our drinks and meal right away. The waitress had left us kids menus with activities, but no crayons. We didn't see the waitress again (not even just passing by to go to another table) for at least 40 minutes. In the mean time I went up to the bar to get our own drinks, and some crayons. At one point I found the hostess and asked her how long she thought it would be until our food was ready. Again, she didn't know. When our food did arrive it was o.k (but not worth that long of a wait. It is worth a short wait, I mean, it could have been worse.) I ordered a pork and coleslaw sandwich and my husband had a burger. Neither come with anything but a few thin pickles. I wish the waitress would have mentioned that they did not come with french fries or anything. We ordered three kids meals; two chicken and one fish. We received three chicken meals. When i mentioned it to our waitress she looked at her ticket, and grumpped to us that her ticket just says three chickens. Evidently it was our fault in he eyes. The only saving grace was that there is a little playground for the kids to hang out at, and a bar so we could get our own drinks.

I really enjoyed eating here, with my wife. I came here intending to give a four star rating. Reading all the other reviews, about poor service, I have to admit service is scatterbrained. The waitress forgot water 3 times and gave me sweet tea, instead of unsweetened. When I said this tea tastes like it has sugar in it she said, even the unsweetened is sweet. Whatever. But the patio is very nice, drinks are reasonable, and the hamburgers were very good. The homemade fries are fantastic. Never had better. So I will go back. Just not when I am in a hurry.

To bad the great view of the lake can't save this place because the food just wasn't very good. It started out with buffalo wings that weren't crispy and a mushroom swiss burger that was well done and pretty much flavorless. I wonder how the did that? Plenty of parking and a great patio. We've been coming here for years and every time we hope they will fix their service. Once again they let us down. Sorry Splash, we're not coming back.
