My carnitas arrived totally unseasoned and reheated to slightly warm in the middle. Totally grey with no color from braising. Yuck. My wife said her fajita was just fine, and no complaints about the other food on the plate.

Mazatlan is the best Mexican restaurant in Fond du Lac. Service is always great and given its size, you never have a long wait for a table, even during peak hours. I'm partial to the fish tacos: a braised white fish with onions and cilantro and the optional tomatillo sauce (be sure to ask for it). No cheese, no sour cream, just three honest tacos, Mexican street-food style. The prices are very reasonable, by the way. My family and I eat here at least twice a month.

Just barely OK. Tex-Mex which I normally like. Chori Pollo - chicken was DRY DRY DRY. Chorizo was "funky" flavored - not bad, but just did not have the richness you would expect. Salsa tasted like it was from a jar. White cheese sauce was pretty good. I may come back and try something different.

Food is very good at good prices. They have catered for me many times in the past and have been great! Hard to phone in order however unless you get someone that speaks good english.

Things have gone downhill a touch since last year. My go-to Mexican place is now little more than a middle of the road joint with bland offerings and an occasional peppermint wrapper in the salsa (no joke). I'm kinda bummed that they've dropped the ball, but I'll have to try the other Mexican place to see if my tastes have changed or if it's just this place.

Simply prepared Mexican food with modest proportions. Can't beat the prices. Quick and friendly service.

We come her an average of 3 times month. Free chips and salsa and super yummy mexican food. My husband loves chorri pollo and fajitias and I love the shrimp tacos with salsa verde and pollo a la diabla. So good! This place is also great for kids as usually the food comes quickly. Servers are nice and polite. Clean. This is the place we eat at the most in Fond du Lac.

Average at best. There was nothing at this establishment to put it above normal Mexican food. The price was pretty much right where you would want it to be.

This is only one of 3 or 4 Mexican restaurants in the FDL area, but so far is the best one yet (Sombereros is a joke). The sound of traditional mexican music, brightly decorated dining area, and giant menus with pictures of the dishes means you are in an authentic mexican restaurant. Speedy service, plenty of chips and salsa, reasonable prices and good food...that's all we as Americans ask in a Mexican Restaurant....then why is it seem so hard to find in Central Wisconsin? We tried out Mazatlan hoping to find those qualities that keep us returning to a restaurant. It was about 8pm when we arrived and there was a couple of other tables there. As far as we could tell there was only one waiter on staff there that night. But unlike other restaurants in the area, you never felt as tho you were in need of a refill or want for anything. The salsa was just ok. More of a puree type salsa you get from a jar of tostitos salsa than a fresh chunky salsa. It is a bit spicy, but if you ask for a more milder salsa they are more than happy to oblige. Our chicken dishes were ok as well, her chicken was dry, but the rice was cooked perfectly. A splash of our white queso dip with salsa helped moisten up her chicken, but was still not a huge improvement. Our bill was $24 for a dinner for two which was just about what we expected. Not the best Mexican food I have had,but a little above par for the area it seems.

This review is concerning takeout. My favorite Mexican in FDL. Well put together and plenty of good food for a good price. Flautas are my go to favorite.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
