Kurt's is my absolute favorite place to get a steak on a budget. Their petite filet for 12.95 alone is worth a visit! Not only do you get a sublime steak, you also get delicious freshly fried dinner rolls (sounds weird, but they are crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside), salad or soup, your choice of potato (garlic mashed are great), and cripsy fried onion rings. Although this is the only item I've ever ordered, I know others have enjoyed their grilled rib-eye and New York strip steak dinners, as well. The decor is bit "dinner-club" but the price and quality of the food is top-notch.

Wow! What a great dinner. Visiting The area for work with a client and had a craving for steak. Was kinda miffed initially when the hostess stated we had a 20 minute wait; especially as we looked around and noticed 6 to 8 open tables..... I almost suggested to pass on the wait, but my client said he didn't mind eating at the bar, luckily for us. The Brewers were playing, thus I said OK. Huge huge PLUS,,, because Erica, the bartender was awesome!! She has a magnetic and Inspiring personality, fun loving, whitty, intelligent, attentive, gorgeous and makes an excellent Martini (wish I drank one though), did I say gorgeous, oooops, I meant stunning!!!! She made our dinner memorable, to say the least. Crab Stuffed Mushrooms were terrific and my steak was cooked perfectly. Can't wait to come back. Hopefully soon. Thanks for a wonderful dinner experience.

I chose this restaurant for a business dinner based on reviews I read and some personal recommendations. I have to say I was underwhelmed. One of my associates commented the dining room we were seated in felt like we were in someones basement. His comment was based on the paneled walls and old decor. Now to the food. I ordered the Ribeye mignon which was an 8 oz. cut. It was undercooked, tough and mostly tasteless. I've had better steaks at Applebees. My other associates thought their steaks were average, but nothing special. The place was packed for a Tuesday evening, so they must have a good following. Based on my personal experience, I won't go back, nor will I recommend this place.

Good food, strong drinks, nice atmosphere. This place is old-timey, but in a good way. You sort of feel like you've stepped back in time, but, you know, in a good way. I don't know that I saw anyone under 30 years old in this place last time I was there, so if you don't like those damn hipster kids all around when you're trying to enjoy your steak and old fashioned, well, Kurt's is the place.(This place does get busy, so it's worth calling ahead for reservations.)

When we moved into the neighborhood I asked my new neighbor "Where's the best place for steaks?" and she said "You have to go to Kurt's". We've never been to Kurt's so we thought we would give it a try. Kurt's is on the southside of the street just outside of the little town of Delafield. When you first see Kurt's it reminds you of a supper club that you might see in upper Wisconsin somewhere back in the early 60's - and the interior carries that charm all the way through. My favorite room is the pine room directly to the south when you walk in. Photos of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and the like hang on the wall while music from that era softly plays over the speakers. The cocktails are generous, the service prompt & friendly. The bus boys are generally high school kids with white shirts, black pants and adds to the friendly charm. For starters I'm a big fan of the French Onion Soup which is unbelievably rich and tasty - so much so my eyes always water with delight. For the main meal I usually order the NY Strip and it's always tender, tasty and no shortage of it. I would also recommend ordering the Peppercorn sauce to compliment the steak (I would drink this stuff out of glass if my wife would let me). I should mention they have they dinner rolls that are quickly deep fried to give them a light crust and taste - don't forget to try these. Kurt's is like stepping back in time - the ambiance is retro without being overdone, the drinks are what you would expect from a supper club and the food is always right on the money in taste, portions and quality. I love the fact the cocktails are of generous size as well. If you love a retro feel, steaks and cocktails, Kurts is like you've died and gone to Heaven.

The steak is delicious; the fried fish fry is the best I've eaten (baked is fabulous as well). If you're looking for steak, I recommend the petite filet oscar! The bruschetta, french onion soup, and coconut shrimp are amazing! As I write this, my mouth salivates. Whenever I go back to Milwaukee, I make a stop at Kurt's!

The ribeye steak we asked for medium charred. After a great French onion soup and garden salad the steaks came. ..... They were just like we ordered. Some chefs will just put some grill stripes in when you ask for a charred steak. This owner charred the steak and it was done excellently crispy outside tender and juicy inside. 1 of the best steaks i've ever eaten. ..I live 60 miles away and I will be back! !!

I eat at steak houses all over Wisconsin, and Kurt's is by far the most consistent. Always cooked the way you want it, most sides don't cost extra money, and the prices are fair. We go at least once a month!

Really enjoyed the ribeye; perfectly cooked an accompanied by a pile of thin onion rings and a wonderful Parmesan augratin. Service was ok, but not 5 star.

Kurt's actually made my annual business trip to Oconowomoc a great one. Pretty busy on a regular Wednesday night, must be really busy on weekends. If you are looking for a great flavorful steak with reasonable price, I would recommend this place. I will definitely coming back next year!

Overpriced and puts this onion stuff on the top of all the food, a little tacky. The waiter was a little rude too.

Good steak, probably the best in the area, especially for the price. Pretty bad decor, friendly wait staff, great fish fry. My favorite dish is the shrimp scampi, a great mix of garlic, fresh parmesan, butter and lemon. The only thing that could improve the dish would be peeled shrimp.

Very supper-clubby, with a paneled house decor and old pictures of Marilyn Monroe on the walls! We had heard the food was great, so wanted to try it. Couldn't get past the Luv It pats of butter on the tables, and the marginal service. My husbands ribs were a little burned. I have heard that the Petite Filet for $12.95 is great.....so if you're in the mood for an inexpensive steak in an old school restaurant, this is your place.

I had a pretty good meal at Kurt's, but left pretty disappointed with the place. A friend of mine was given a gift certificate and made a reservation for four at Kurt's for a nice dinner. We were seated promptly in a back room. Our waitress arrived to take drink orders. And we ordered some calamari as an appetizer which was pretty good. The red sauce was particularly tasty. Our meals (an assortment of steaks and one fish dish) were mostly tasty. They even catered to my friend who ordered her steak "very very well done", after only one "Are you sure?" The Parmesan au gratin potatoes were really rich and delicious. And the blackened petite sirloin was well cooked, though the seasoning tasted more burnt than blackened. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Clean plates all around in the end. The check came and our friends quickly gave the waitress their gift certificate and additional payment. She returned promptly and we continued to converse for maybe another 10 minutes. Then the manager, or who knows, maybe even Kurt himself, came over and asked us how our meal was we said it was good. Then he asked us to move to the bar to continue our conversation because he had more reservations to seat at our table. Now, I get it. I've worked in the industry. I understand that turnover is important, but I thought it was handled poorly. Even with the gift certificate, with four entrees, drinks, and an appetizer, we had still paid a good amount of money, and we were all kind of irritated that we were asked to give up the table so quickly. If we had been there for another hour, sure, ask us to give it up. I also think that the waitress coming over for a simple "Is there anything else I can get for you tonight?" Would have been more appropriate and would have gotten the point across. And there were several empty tables throughout the restaurant that could have been filled before kicking us out. Sure, maybe we wouldn't have gone to Kurt's in the first place if we didn't have a gift certificate, but I don't think we'll be going back. There are way too many other steakhouses that serve a better product and treat their paying customers better.

I'll keep this short and sweet. The food at Kurt's: Five Stars, no question. Want a delicious steak meal or fish fry in Lake Country? Go here. It's delicious. The petite filet oscar is a favorite. The drinks at Kurt's: Top notch. Dirty gin martinis are always delicious and are my fiancee's favorite. Bar staff is always friendly, even when they're swamped. The service at Kurt's: On its own, probably one or two stars. The last half-dozen or so times we've visited, staff have been rude, inattentive, and just not what you would expect at an establishment like this. Hence the three-star overall rating.

First time here for us on Sunday 10/19/14 at about 5:00PM. First impression: The building has an old school country bar/grill appearance from the outside. The inside is supper "clubbish." This is not a "dress up" steakhouse, but rather a cozy, come as you are, definitely casual atmosphere. We liked it. We had a drink at the bar, first, and visited with Erica, the bartender, who was very friendly and told us a bit about the history of the place: Members of her family have ran it for quite some time and she has worked here and/or eaten here, off and on, since she was a kid. It was fun talking to Erica and she is truly an ambassador and a real asset for Kurt's. We were seated in the dining area for dinner and started with good dinner salads: fresh, crisp and accompanied by tasty house dressings including home made blue cheese. My NY Steak was AOK and Cheryl's chicken breast was very good. Au Gratin and Garlic mashed were offered. No baked potato. (Huh?) We ordered a side of steamed asparagus to share that was simply prepared and good. Service at our dinner table was quick and efficient, but otherwise unremarkable. Overall, Kurt's is a relaxed, casual place to get a quick, no nonsense and down to earth steak, pork chops or Prime rib dinner when in the Delafield neighborhood.

Mid July, hottest day of the year. No one is siting outside. The place was pretty packed. Only a few spots open in the parking lot at 7pm. Being by myself, I was seated instantly and had my salad within 2-3 minutes of walking in the door. The salad had yummy beets on it that were cut like thin French fries. Tasty. I had the chicken meal with a side of steamed asparagus. The chicken is smothered in mushrooms and appeared to be lightly coated in a batter. The meal had three relatively large breasts. I ate half. Too much food. I was pushed into getting the lemon cake dessert. It is huge, and they had 6-7 large dollops of whipped cream on the plate (ridiculous). The cake was more than moist, the layers were think and it was all lined with some sugar sauce. Taste was okay. I wouldn't order it if you are into healthy food or watching your calorie and sugar intake. Very pleasant, polite and welcoming staff.

This has been our favorite restaurant ever since we discovered it about 12 years ago. All of the food is superb, especially the rolls! Their calamari is the best we have ever had anywhere, including outside of this state. The staff, too, is delightful. Lots of good service and humor. Kurt's main bartender, Brian, ( who remembers everyones drink) makes sitting at the bar fun. Sipping on a martini and kibitzing with him as well as othesr who like to sit at the bar because they are "people persons", too, is a very enjoyable time. Marian

Great steak house!! It's a little expensive but really worth it! The dinner rolls, wings, lobster bisque, and all the steak dishes are amazing. I eat here every Tuesday and never get sick of it. Please give this place a try!

I had the finest Surf and Turf dinner I have ever had in my life last Friday. The Tenderloin and Lobster were cooked to perfection and their size was wonderfully satisfying. Delicious. So were the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms and Coconut Shrimp appetizers. The service was excellent also. I am originally from Wisconsin but live in Denver, CO now. I'll look forward to dinning at Kurt's on every trip back to Wisconsin.

This place is pretty awesome for a local steakhouse. I pretty much always get the petite filet, because it's enough food and a great price! The price on the petite filet has gone up to 13 dollars, but it used to be 10. Not a huge deal, but I just loved getting a great steak for ten dollars! They serve it with soup/salad, and a choice of potato. I get the Parmesan au gratin usually which is pretty awesome. The steaks come with sauteed mushrooms and haystack onions on top, which adds a nice touch. The salads are good, but nothing spectacular. The soups usually are pretty good, and the baked onion soup is really good! They can get busy and sometimes the wait can get long, but you can always grab a cocktail at the bar. One thing is that there is no outdoor seating which I think would be nice! It's kept pretty dark in there (ambiance?) but has a nice feel. Most servers are pretty good, nothing spectacular here either. Locals love the place, and you'll see others come in from word of mouth. I wouldn't recommend this as a family place, but have seen families and it didn't seem like they were uncomfortable or anything. UPDATE: They recently jacked the prices on the well priced dishes. I will probably still go back, but not nearly as often. Now that the prices are at the same or higher than other steakhouses, I see no reason not to keep exploring new ones. Definitely a nice place, but I thought they were doing something right with the petite filet at a reasonable price before they increased it so much, so suddenly.

Kurt's Steakhouse is the steakhouse of Delafield, enough said. Old school, supper-club charm, with photos of Dean Martin and Marilyn Monroe on the walls. First of all, let me begin by saying that I have been dragged there many times by my parents. Personally, I'm a fan of their French Onion Soup as an appetizer, and usually have the Petit Filet for an entrée. Food is inconsistent. The filet has been charred/overdone for my liking (medium-rare) two or three times. Kurts is a good place for the older crowd. I would not go there on my own (i.e., on a date), but I can see how middle aged adults enjoy it.

My waitress was awesome... House cleanliness was excellent..... bathrooms clean, tables, walls, picture frames... ect CLEAN. Ambiance is late 60's early 70's, comfy but crowded... when it is crowded all that goes through my mind is these guys are greedy.... Now to the food..... 1. Garlic Mashed potatoes... tasted like instant. If the were not instant I would be stunned. 2.. Rolls.... tasted like frozen. The manager admitted they were "par" baked... for those of you rookies "par baked" means... Partially baked then fully baked at a latter time. 3. The Mushrooms on the steak seamed to be canned..... you know what I mean... dark, water logged and limp.... If they were truly fresh as the manager indicated.... the mushrooms were prepped in the morning and held until dinner rush!!! I AM POSITIVE OF THIS!!!! FINALLY.... the steak I ordered the Rib-eye mignon and my girlfriend ordered the $30 filet mignon...... We both like them medium rare... the both were cooked correctly Neither steak had any flavor. Both steaks were tough. When you are paying $25 for a steak you should not need a steak knife. If you are proud of the steak you cooked you should NOT HAVE TO COVER IT WITH DEEP FRIED ONION STRINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REALLY????? WTF is it 1973 and I just forgot... or what???? In Summary..... Excellent waitress, Clean restaurant,, great atmosphere yet cramped.... food is mediocre at best. Finally... if the GM told "KURT" any of my concerns I would be amazed!!! Even if every one of my concens are bull shit.... Kurt.... you should be ashamed of yourself..... I WILL GO TO DILLON'S ON THE LAKE FROM NOW ON!!! IT IS SAD POOR BUSINESS CONTINUE TO MAKE MONEY

Signature rib eye was very good as it should be for the price. Roles outstanding; eat hot. Oysters Rockefeller were good, but heavy on the spinach. Nice salad; fresh with nice mix of ingredients. Atmosphere nice old school.

I have been to Kurt's many times in the past. I have not been there within the last 6 months however. Steaks are always great! We have the strip and the petite with blue cheese on top. Mouth watering. Great fried dinner rolls. Now - the bad. The prices have gone north to the point where the value aspect has been removed. Their prices are now comparable to most steakhouses in SE Wisconsin. Noisiest place I've ever dined next to Chucky Cheese. You can make a reservation if you want to eat that evening, but I have NEVER been sat within 45min of my reservation. I wouldn't mind as much if the bar wasn't so small and crowded. It's almost impossible to get a drink. Why bother making a reservation? Last bit of annoyance, they have an outstanding fish fry. For those who have young children (the place is NOT kid friendly) and need to take out their fish fry, they automatically add gratuity to pick-up orders. This is very bothersome to me. Gratuity is supposed to be for the server. They say its for the people that pack up the food, but I don't feel that whoever jams a styrofoam container in a bag should get 4-5$ to do so. Especially when you get home and the food items in the container look like they've been blended, and the tarter sauce has leaked out of the container, bag, and onto your seats. (Thank god for leather) Sorry Kurt's, you've lost several hundreds of dollars a year on this guy.
