I stopped in here while passing through. This place was excellent. I got an omelet that was awesome. This is also one of the few places that offered me homemade bread with my breakfast. The only thing to be aware of is that they can overcook the egg a little, but since I like my eggs more done I enjoyed it. The portions are excellent. This is a great little spot.

Many mornings I pass the Cecil Diner it is busy, so I had to try it. While it looks like many have nostalgic association with this little place, Cecil Diner was a new experience for me. The prices (FYI- cash only) are affordable and the service is personable. Aside from that, I don't see the lure many others do. My husband and I have had breakfast here and it was okay. At some point we may return, but there are other places in the area I like better. I got the chorizo and eggs, pleasantly surprised to see chorizo on the menu. The chorizo was mixed into scrambled eggs with potatoes on the side. The chorizo was good and abundant, but the eggs were rubbery and not fluffy. I think there were better possibilities with this dish. The potatoes were bland. There were two noteworthy things to this dish, aside from the chorizo. The salsa was spicy and seemed homemade-- really good. The bread, too; light and flaky and not typical store bought. In spite of the positives, the meal was only ok. With a little creativity and texture variation this dish could be so much better. My husband got the typical heart stopper breakfast... Again, bland aside from the toast. He got OJ and said it taste funny. Oh, and the atmosphere is that of an old cafe. People don't come here because it is pretty to look at. So, while many come here for the memories, I do not foresee making the same kind of memories here.

Potato pancakes! Best you'll ever have. Been coming to Cecil's since I was a kid. There's no other diner like it. The breakfast is amazing, and served all day. Delicious homemade pies and strawberry shortcake.

I've been going here since I was a kid. My family and I do late breakfast or lunch here. I've done dinner here but don't care for it. My favorite thing on the menu is a simple club sandwich. Not sure why I like it best here, maybe it's nostalgic, but it's a good and decent diner. I don't anticipate stopping eating here either. Though I do miss the go-cart track that was next door that has been replaced with a baseball field.

I so want to leave a good review for this longstanding local diner. Service is awesome and the long list of pies are tempting. However, I had issues with one of that day's specials; Shrimp Scampi. The sauce was paste like, not sauce like. The flavor was just not there either. I'll be back, but I'll choose something like the meatloaf or roast chicken next time.

Typical diner food but amazingly attentive and sweet service, true to the Midwest. My little "egglish" was just the right amount of protein before launching into rhubarb pie heaven. I sampled the crepes and they were strange - filled with super sugary jam-like strawberry stuff and no discernible cream cheese. Everyone else was pleased with their choices. Coffee refills are steady, bordering on pushy. They are rightfully famous for their pies so plan accordingly. The rhubarb was the most divine balance of tart and sweet. Amazing crust. Whip cream a nice but unnecessary addition.
