We arrived at noon Saturday and it started off a little rough. The waitress was by herself ... She forgot to unlock the door! LOL I called and asked if they were open and advised her of the situation. She was very kind and apologized. As this is our first time here, we took a look at the buffet which consisted of basically all you can eat tacos, enchiladas or make your own "nachos". Unfortunately, she hadn't yet put serving spoons into the many meats there was to choose from. Again she apologized and rectified the situation immediately. Along with the typical taco toppings there was fresh melons My sons are young so they were happy with an "American" kids menu and ordered Grilled Cheese and Chicken Tenders all with fries. I loved that they were served their drinks in plastic cups with lids. I ordered the biggest thickest burrito I'd ever seen. The food was very good. The place appears clean. The waitress was very friendly with a good attitude and not afraid to apologize for not being perfect.

just moved Burlington recently, stopped in one day, only one other person eating there. The place stinked, had dirty musky smell... the waitress seemed pissed off at me, had a steak burreito dinner and Ice tea, I had to ask, no beg for refills each time.... had 4 refills.... asked for the check... seemed to take forever. when check came bill was $19 they charged me like $2.50 per drink and glass size of ice tea was a small glass. paid my bill and didn't leave a tip due waitress pissed off attitude. AND, THE FOOD WASN'T THAT GOOD EITHER. Taco bell is better.

This place was awful. The serves was terrible, we had 8 ppl but called in advance to warn them (two hour dinner). They served us warm margaritas and when I said something it was oh sorry.. I'll make and charge you for another and the new ones still tasted awful. After 45 minutes we got our food that was just blah. I got home and I said oh my stomach don't feel good, next thing you know I got sick. They also decided to over charge me on my credit card and when questioned said there was nothing they could do about it. I Will never go back and either will the 8 ppl I took with me.

My old review was great... "This place is awesome!!! Seriously, Im from Chicago, beats any place there! Get the cheese sticks, they are sooo freaky good! No panko here. Enchiladas and chimi rock too! Chips, fresh, yummie. Fountain mountain dew, sign me up!" Then I returned.... *cheese sticks, gone, *enchilada and chimi, sub par, no melted cheese (see my picture). *No chips or salsa refills?? New ownership? Will NOT be back

Los Compadres, IMHO, is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the Burlington area. I visited Los Compadres around breakfast time, and I was thoroughly pleased with their menu. The food was very good, and the coffee was great. Service was great too.

Our local mexican joint, and quite good. They serve both traditional style mexican food and the more Americanized versions. If you are in Burlington and want Mexican food, this is the place.

So, we are here in Burlington, Wisconsin for Chocolate Fest. We had our fill of Carnie fare and wanted something else for dinner. Los Compadres it is!!! There are 4 tables for outside seating, and a dozen inside. We were quickly welcomed with a smile from our server Liset, and seated at a table in front of the window. Chips and salsa arrived quickly. The red has a fresh garden taste, the green hits you with a quick citrusy, cilantro vibe and a mild heat follows. I was torn between a few items and our server said the tender pork plate would be her choice. I was leaning that way and glad I did! The carnitas came out tender and in abundance. The beans and rice were both prepared nicely as well. My wife ordered their combination #2 which included enchilada, chimichanga, and a taco. Also with rice and beans on the side. Everything was packed full of meat and the perfect amount of sauces. Nice beer selection from both sides of the border. As well as a few wine choices. When we come back to town, I know for a fact we will be coming here for another round of great food!!! Our server Liset was spot on with everything. Making sure each guest has a pleasant experience, and makes them feel at home.

I really enjoy Mexican, and this place is as good as it gets. Authentic and good. Have had most things on menu and would take this place over most Mexican places in milwaukee. Very good authentic salsas too.

OK.... I know a good Mexican Restaurant when i eat at one. I also know a CLEAN Mexican Restaurant when i see one. I am from Chicago & was in town on business. Since I am of Mexican decent (and love to cook Mexican dishes), I can truly say that this place does not cut it. Why? Well, to start I came in at 10:15 am (they open at 10 am), and there were still dirty tables from the night before, the window sills had food crumbs on them from who knows when, my silverware was dirty, the chips were cold (looked like from a bag of Tostitos), the salsa was from a can, the coffee was way watered down & the waitress was far from friendly (what has happened to good customer service with a smile?).. When I got my torta de Milanesa 20 minutes later ( I was the only person in the place), it was a 5 on a 10 scale. The reason? It had way to much mayonaise (which really doesnt go on a torta) way way too much lettuce & the chicken milanesa actually had good seasoning... And the fries (?) that were served with it were 1 minute away from being totally burned. I think I will take my chances with McDonalds if ever in this area again. 1 torta + 1 coffee = $11.30 !!! REALLY?!?!!?! WOW! Plus $2 tip .. Have a nice day!!

Food is typically good - last time I got chicken tacos (grilled chicken, onion, and cilantro on a corn tortilla), which were great. Other times we've gone and have not been very impressed with the food. I always seem to order enchiladas, which are almost always too bland (the switch to the chicken tacos was a good choice). Prices are reasonable and service is always quick and friendly.

Plain and simple, if you've experienced real Mexican food you will be disappointed. flavor, texture and interpretation is off.

Unbelievably awful food and service. Starts with watered down margaritas, stale chips, inedible tasting salsa, cheez whiz queso, ketchup flavored chimichangas, fajita meat made of thinly sliced frozen meat, and extremely poor service. There was unfortunately, no redeeming feature to this restaurant. I had a hard time leaving a tip but I did since I felt sorry for them. I guess this is the only Mexican restaurant in town. Still, I would advise readers to go buy from the local grocery. You will be happier and it will be much more authentic and palatable than this place!

I've been here twice and enjoyed my meal both times. The chips were fresh, but I didn't care for the regular salsa, it tasted like it had tomato paste in it, but I love the salsa verde. The first time I visited, it was mild, the second time it had a bit of a kick. I chose the combination plate both times. If a taco is one of your options, you can choose between American style (meat, lettuce, cheese, tomato) or Mexican style (meat, avocado, cilantro, tomato and cheese too, I think). The burritos are big (Yay, leftovers!). The quesadillas were a little disappointing, they were puffy without much filling. Overall, I enjoyed the food and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Los Compadres is a great Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa; both red and green are delicious and best of all you get as much as you want. Refills - yes please. I love the mexican steak tacos with sliced avocado, onions, and cilantro on a corn tortilla I am in heaven. If you like mexican food I would definitely say give this place a try.

I ate here once and found the food to be a little bland. Probably will not return.

Meh. We went today because we had a certificate for a free entree haven't been in years. The rice was bland and the refried beans weren't anything to talk about either the pork I got was good. The service wasn't very good either. No welcoming smile and she seemed to be slow at doing everything. The bill after the free entree was $17. Way too expensive for sub par good. I won't be going back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
