If I could give it no stars I would.... We ordered conch fritters and they were awful!!! I order these all the time in FL. and I absolutely love em but here a huge miss the fryer temp was up too high IMO and on the entree side the fish was like they got it straight from the freezer. My daughter got the jerk sandwich, the only thing that was jerked is my wallet. My wife's Cajun shrimp was good surprisingly but can you mess up Cajun seasoning from a can? I don't know but if I want island vibe seafood I'll stick to the restaurant on Mayfair rd. at the Radisson hotel. I'll NEVER return here!!!

Been here a few times-the food seems to get worse every time we go. The hurricane and margarita I ordered were so thick with syrup they were undrinkable. Ordered a cup of gumbo and the oyster crackers that came with it-had a piece of chewed up gum stuck to the bottom of the package-gross!! Our waiter was nice but I probably won't be back anytime soon!

Fried, fried, fried. If you like fried fish this is the place to go. They have non-fried fish but it is not as good as their fried stuff. Service is good and people are friendly. That's all I ask from the waitstaff. Wish they had a bigger selection on non-fried fish. Food is good but be prepared for fried stuff.

I've been here twice for lunch. It's a nice place, cozy, pleasant staff. I can't quite say that the food was excellent or overly memorable, but everything was tasty. I enjoyed my fish and shrimp combo. It has a little more batter than what I typically like, but it was a lighter batter and didn't leave me feeling all greasy, as is often typical of fried fish at restaurants. I got the vegetable side instead of fries and was satisfied with the fresh, crisp medley of yellow carrots, green beans, brocolli, etc. The little corn muffin was yummy, as well.

Great place for lunch or dinner. we had the mahi tacos and a mixed grill plate the salmon was a little dry but great flavor. an especially good buy using the dealwatch deal but good anytime. We will be back!

If it's possible to have a more disinterested server, I'd like to learn how - I'm sorry I was just a "party of one" but after taking my order, it would have been nice to get my iced tea before my meal - nope, "Eric" couldn't be bothered Food took seemingly long to come out, but, as usual, it was good - and a good value - of course, there was no be back to check whether everything was ok, but the server did have the presence of mind to deliver my bill within 3 minutes of my food Both of my kids have been servers - I tend to tip well - that isn't going to happen today

Hostess and waitress were very attentive. I was underwhelmed by the presentation and quality of food. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with mixed veggies and red beans and rice. There was a hard particle in the cream sauce, the stuffing tasted old and over cooked, and the vegetables were not fresh. Again, the service was good, but the quality of food was not ideal.

The food here is always outstanding and you get very hefty portions as well. I would choose this place over red lobster every time! For two people with drinks and an appetizer your looking at around $50 which is average for a seafood place like this. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because the service is never the best. We have gotten the same guy every time and he ALWAYS forgets a drink or takes FOREVER to check back with our table. I am not hard to please when it comes to service but it gets old having to remind someone about your food and drinks everytime you go somewhere.

The service was good along with the food! Would definitely come back for the Crab legs and the fish& chips

My wife and I decided to try this place. I had a craving for some good seafood. She is not a seafood person but saw she could get a steak while I satisfied my seafood craving. She ordered a 12 oz sirloin steak and I ordered the "seafood dump" dinner. Her steak was not very good and looked like a lesser cut of meat. Mine consisted of snow crab, shrimp, mussels, potatoes and onions and green peppers. It also came with corn on the cob and Andouille sausage. The crab and the shrimp was ok but didn't seem terribly fresh. It was not a fabulous meal by any means. I also ordered a bowl of clam chowder. That was a big mistake and was not very good. Our server was nice but seemed to take forever at times. My wife had the lemon cream cake for dessert. That was outstanding. This meal except for the dessert was very mediocre and will not be going back again.

Ordered calamari. Had a decent kick to it but it was all very small pieces. Very rubbery. Not fresh or even a quality cut of calamari. Better than most though as it wasn't heavily breaded. Ordered the seafood Alfredo. First time out the noodles were mush. Sent it back and waited another 10 minutes for a repeat crap performance. The Alfredo doesn't taste hirre but it's hard to screw that up. The bartender was very nice and apologetic and offered me free key lime pie. Love key lime pie. Got it to go. I've had fish and chips here before which were good. Guess I should have stuck to that.

Awesome Wednesday fish fry special for $5.99. Great kids meals. My son loved the popcorn shrimp. Fries were extremely crisp and delicious. Door County Cherry Wheat beer on tap was very good. Nice cozy atmosphere with friendly and attentive wait staff. Will be back soon!

We've eaten here a number of times. The food is a notch above average and the prices are reasonable, especially with daily specials. But beware - they offer a deal through the Journal Sentinel DealWatch for $20 worth of food for $10. I bought one of these and presented it recently. They tried 3 times to refuse it, saying it didn't apply to what we ordered (the limitiations are clearly printed on the voucher and only limit use on Mother's Day and on All You Can Eat items), the voucher didn't have a barcode (this voucher has a number, but doesn't come with a barcode), and then that it didn't apply to daily specials. Only after much gentle encouragement and embarrassment on my part did they huffily and reluctantly agree to honor the voucher. I notified DealWatch of this poor experience, which reflects on them also. BTW, we dined during Happy Hour, but they also wouldn't give us the menu Happy Hour price on drinks because we "weren't sitting at the bar." Unless you enjoy embarassment and argument, I suggest you avoid the DealWatch at Joey's, and stick with places you feel you can trust.

If you are going here for great service, keep driving. If you like good food, then stop, unless you are ordering the mac and cheese for your kids. Then keep going. They serve Kraft Mac and Cheese for $5. Too bad it is not fresh. And don't forget your Entertainment book because they will not honor the app
(2)Lori G.
I went there for the first time a few weeks ago. The fish fry was the worst. It looked like store bought frozen fish that they had deep fried. It was mushy on the inside and very greasy. There was more breading than fish. I was very disappointed because I expected more from a restaurant that has the word "seafood" in it's name.
(1)Local P.
They have a nice selection of seafood dishes which is rare in these parts. Having lived in Florida for a long time I appreciate the food served here. I would definitely dine again.
(4)Michael S.
Came back for my favorite shrimp in the area and its auce on mondays so even better! Its one of the pricier specials at $18 a person. They try to load you up with sides "to increase the value" but the sides are generally pretty bad. Even the fries have been extremely salty rhe last few times. . So much so I had to ask for unsalted tonight. ee got there and were seated and had to get our own silverware from front station as our waitress cindy didnt think to bring it until after we had our food and she saw is getting up. Worst service ive had here and I swear it felt like she was deliberately ignoring us as several times I rried to flag her down for something and she would rurn just as I was raising my hand or dint seem to hear me when I said something. the battered shrimp was delicious, as ever, but the poor service really detracted as well as the cook taking the garbage out the front door past our booth as we were eating. Ive been a large fan if joeys but am starting to feel they deserve some of the more negative comments.
(2)Anna M.
First time here and it was great! Very casual atmosphere - waitress was great. We got crab legs (delicious!) and some apps, which were also good. Mashed potatoes weren't the best, but overall it was a great place. Will definitely be back.
(4)j w.
I should have heeded previous reviews. They were out of their specials. What I ordered wasn't very special: a combo tilapia, crab cake, jambalaya. Average at best. Shrimp in the jambalaya had seen much better days. The tilapia was cooked unevenly as a large section was not blackened. Or maybe it was the other way around: some of it plain, some blackened by mistakes. Couldn't tell if the crab cake had crab or something else. I probably don't want to know. I wish I went to McDonald's for a fish sandwich, instead.

A friend of ours has raved about this place for nearly two years now, so we were in the area and decided to try it for lunch. We thought she was right, just from opening the door. Amber was waiting for us with a warm welcome and led us to our table. She was to be our waitress helping us with the menu and recommendations. She not only took our order, but came back three times to see if everything was right, even bringing our drink refills without asking. Sadly the food was nothing out of the ordinary, Sirloin Steak and a Crab Cake combo, both in the $15 range and both plain in appearance and taste. Only Amber saved the experience from being even more disappointing. She turned out to be the highlight, being our best female server (Derek at the Anchorage is our best waiter) so far this year. When the service is better than the meal, you know it is not worth it.

This could be one of the worst seafood restaurants I have ever been to. Everything is frozen, the shrimp are tiny, and I would rather eat at a red lobster if I wanted bad food

I'm really trying to give joeys a chance after my fifth visit today. We did the work lunch thing here today with six orders. I'm going to post pictures this time. They were able to put names on each persons order and get 99 % of it right, I was the only person who didn't get the slaw with my lunch. The place is relatively nice on the inside with a decent bar to chill at. The place has the look of an industrial upscale space with a few seafood trinkets to let you know it's a seafood place. The staff looked a little overwhelmed with our order and kept looking at each bag to make sure that it was right. There was enough staff making sure that I was acknowledged ant not ignored as I waited for our order. This time I would try the blackened mahi mahi with pico de gallo. See my pictures. I was skeptical about the whole meal for $8.99. You get the sandwich, frys and slaw. To my surprise the fish was not very blackened and just scraps of fish, not even a whole fillet but more like fish sticks. The pico de gallo is very week compared to the real thing. The blackened mahi mahi was bland and cold with no grill flavor even though it looked grilled. I like the concept of the meals on the menu but they just don't live up to how good they sound on the menu. Joeys looks good on paper but it is always underwhelming to me.

Excellent service!! The food was quite tasty. The cheddar bacon mashed potatoes were out of this world. Our daughter had the crab stuffed haddock and she said it was the best fish entree she has ever had while dining out. The clam chowder was top notch as were the deep fried oysters. My husband had a roaster dinner with crab, oysters and clams. He enjoyed that as well. If we are ever back in the area we will certainly stop here again.

Stopped in here for the first time to sit at the bar and grab some lunch. I was craving some great fish. It's been a long time since I had great fish. Sat down at the bar, had a soda and watched some news on the TV. Ordered the 2 piece Haddock Fish & Chips. Gotta say, I was really impressed. for $7.49, this was a steal for a plate full of really good food. I would have paid an easy $12.00 for this. That's me though. Please don't raise your prices, Joey. My total with a soda was $10.07. I left a $5 tip. Being the technophile I am, I noticed they were using the Belly app (it's a reward system for foodies). Signed up, and got my first check-in. It's nice to see a business using social media in a way that benefits its patrons with rewards. So if you go here, make SURE you use it. The staff was very friendly, and I was very fulfilled from my lunch. In fact, I want more now (9:45am) - is that weird? Definitely go here. I will be back for sure.

It's decent fish restaurant. Good atmosphere and good location. I haven't tried all the menu but I recommend to check it out for everyone.

Crab Rangoon was deelish! We got the last order.. Great specials.. $5 cake martinis and $5 appetizers.. Waitress very seasoned and professional. Would go back again.. And note to others.. If ya just ask the waitress for the cocktail recipes.. You shall receive :)

Great fish fry - the large portion of Haddock was excellent. GF's shrimp was done well, but the star of her meal was the cornbread muffin! Service was nice, and the place has a good feel to it.
(5)Sherill M.
Yuck! Ordered the grilled mahi, salmon and shrimp. Totally grosse, served with a soggy cornbread muffin. The fish tasted terrible like it had all been boiled in water. The mixed vegetables were worse than the microwavable bagged veggies. This place is terrible.

Excellent service. Interesting specials. Real treat for an out-of-towner!

My wife and I ate here twice in one week we enjoyed it so much. The first time was on the weekend of valentines day. We came for the valentines day special and shared a bottle of wine, crab legs, shrimp 2 ways, several different sides etc. I've been eating a lot of crab legs lately at Red Lobster, Joe's Crab Shack, Crawdaddy's Hooters, etc and have found the best beside's Hooters, is here! They were cooked correctly to the point where the meat came out in beautiful chunks rather than when overcooked and it comes out in stringy bits that you have to try to dig in the shell for. The shrimp were cooked beautifully as well and the beer batter on the fried shrimp is the best I've had in a long time. I normally don't order food that is beer battered and prefer breaded but Joey's has won me over! We ordered clam chowder which was delicious, it was creamy but not too thick like many places where it becomes gloopy. The fries were cooked nicely, crisp and golden on the oustide and fluffy and potatoey on the inside. The hush puppies were a little dry and not so great. The service was slow, very slow on a not busy sunday afternoon but part of this may have been because the server was trying to pace us. My wife and I don't like this usually but happens at many nicer restuarants anyway. The second time that week was for the auce fish fry. Same delicious beer batter that came on the shrimp. Nice sized portions and the service was much faster and on pace with what my wife and I enjoy. This will be our go to seafood place from now on and I really can't wait to go back!

I love this place and it's really close to where I live. It's a nice change from all the fast food or Greek family restaurants around. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable with a Boston harbor theme- good for a date, occasion, or holiday. My favorite things are 1. the calamari taco and 2.variations of lemonade (grape or cherry). I've always been too full to have dessert as well. The only thing I really dislike is the red beans mix that comes with most of the meals. Flavorless except for being over-spicy, I wish there was another choice option. The veggies here are also a little mushy, like microwave veggies, but the fish makes up for that. You can also get Thai lettuce wraps! The waiters/waitresses here are from good to super-friendly, and seating is always pretty quick. Another cute thing is the girls room - is called the Gulls Room.
(4)Insun M.
More like 2.5 stars but rounded up for not being a chain. Service was sooooo slow considering it was a weekday lunch hour. We probably waited 10-15 minutes for the waitress to pick up the check. She was just missing for a while... My mom and I shared a combination platter of jambalaya, white fish, crab cake, and some other stuff i forgot along with a lobster roll. The combination platter was pretty good minus the crab cake. I prefer my crab cakes to be made with lumps of crab meat but this one was flat and all mashed up. The lobster roll was a huge disappointment. It had way too much mayo and like the crab cake the lobster and other seafood they had in there was way too mashed up. What a horrible way to cook a lobster. I probably won't be coming back. The prices were good considering it was seafood but very pricey if you consider the quality.

It's really tough to find excellent seafood in Milwaukee but Joey's did a pretty good job. I had the red snapper special which was perfectly cooked, lighlty but deliciously seasoned with a side of cheesy garlic mashed potatoes and veggies - both also good. Their sides are surprisingly good (or at least good-sounding). Others in my party had a jalepeno tilapia special, and jumbalaya. Everyone said their meals were good. I think we would all eat there again - it is one of the better options for seafood in Milwaukee. We were there on a busy Friday night and our waitress was very rushed, spoke quickly, and wasn't very attentive early on. As the restaurant emptied a little her service improved. In the end the food was tasty and the service left a little to be desired but we would go back and we do recommend it. This place is located in a strip mall which bothered me. For some reason I equate restaurants in strip malls as inferior, quick-service, and cheap. But I was pleasantly surprised - don't let the strip mall location stop you! Although that does make it a little less classy for taking an important client out to eat for example - in which case I wouldn't recommend taking them to a strip mall!
(3)D. J.
Good atmosphere, very attentive wait staff. Hush puppies are great, crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Muffins may be crumbly, but taste counts and they are very tasty. My favorite are the fish tacos and salmon. Have been there several times and always good service. Let them know if something isn't right and they will make it right for you.

Joey's Seafood and grill. *shrugs* It's OK. 2.5 stars, but service was good so I give it a 3. Was indulging in hot chocolate at Caribou Coffee next door, when my man wanted to eat. So we walked to our car and saw that Joeys was actually poppin' with customers. Saw a "fish taco" sign and went for it. Had to wait ~7min on a Sat night, which isn't bad. Not a huge restaurant, but roomy and decorated with "Hi - pretend you're in Maine" type of theme. It seems like a place good for groups too. $$: A wide range of prices for entrees, from $8-20+. Most seafood is in the ~15 range. Fish tacos were ~$9 (which we thought was a lil pricey for tacos.) Food: -Clam chowder: thick and creamy with a ton of butter. But it was just ok. -Side salad w/ entree: bleh. Out-of-a-bag type of salad. But the Herb Avocado dressing was interesting and flavorful -Lobster/Seafood Pasta: Not sure what's in it exactly, as the seafood is all mashed together. Heavy, rich, creamy and filling. Not bad. -Dump Dinner: a mish-mash of seafood boiled together, topped with Old Bay, and dumped onto a butcher paper in front of you. The sausage was pretty good, the shrimp decent (not overcooked), the crab pretty meaty. Overall not bad, but I thought it lacked in flavor if you didn't add your own additional flavorings. Service was courteous and friendly, and the reason why it'd be a slightly-above-average restaurant. So if you want artery-clogging type of food, but didn't want to eat McDs or Arbys or Qdoba then try it. It's not bad, but don't expect greatness.

went to joeys after hearing raido ads that praised them as a great seafood restrauant. so what we thought it was like a fresh seafood place, turned out to serve pre fab frozen fish that tasted horribal. not one of us finished our food and im not that picky when it comes to fish fry. it was the worst fish fry i have ever had near the city of milwaukee. if you still want to try this place after reading this here are things to stay away from. cod: pre fab frozen fish logs, tasted horrible and greese pored out from the inside. pollock: completely mush, no flavor at all. hadock: the one we all agreed that was edible, but still not very good. tarter sauce: more like mayo with a squirt of lemon, not even edible. cole slaw: pre bagged grocery store cole slaw, nothing special. fries: way over salted, i didnt even finish those. beer: cold, drinkable. would i recomend this place, NO and i will never go there again.

Ate here for the husbands 62nd birthday. As usual the food was great and the service fantastic. We came early around 6 pm, any later we would have to wait. This place gets crowded fast. I had the bourbon seafood platter w/ the coleslaw as my side. The crabcake and tilapia very tasty. The jambalia was good but heavy with the pepper. my husband had the shallops w/ butter which he enjoyed. My cocktail of choice was the Georgia peach, wish I could get the recipe for this drink it's great. Over all a good dining experience.
(5)Theresa C.
Worst dinner in years. Bad sign when you order a Grey Goose and tonic and the waitress looks at you like you're speaking pig latin. Um... how about top shelf vodka? Ok... any vodka? ... Buehler? Very pricy for a fish fry - $18 for fried cod and fries? Wow. This is Wisconsin. We started with fried clam strips which had the consistency of shoelaces. The roses dipping sauce helped slightly. I had a seafood combo with scallops, crab cake and crab legs. The boy got steak and shrimp. We both got mixed vegetables which ended up being STILL FROZEN. Even after we complained, she brought back another dish with them STILL FROZEN. My scallops were average, crab cake was surprisingly palletable. Crab legs came out 20 minutes late and were STILL FROZEN. The boy's steak which was supposed to be med rare was STILL FROZEN in the middle. We complained and were told we could get a free dessert which we turned down... we just wanted out as soon as possible. Not sure if the grill was turned off or what the deal was, but we're never going back.

We always wanted to check this place out and we were glad we did! This was the first time we ever had fish tacos and they were amazing! Their calamari was perfect and the gumbo..... Delicious! This place left us wanting to come back! Great menu and very decent prices! Looking forward to coming back!
(5)Beck W.
good service, ragin' cajun was fair, side of red beans had a tasty kick. Jerk chicken sandwich was very tasty. Best part was the gumbo, should have had a bowl, not a cup and skipped the rest.
(3)J S.
Joey's is bad- I hate to say it but is is just gross- as Sherill S said- It was probably a bad sign, after my husband ordered catfish, when we heard the chef well " I don't know how to make catfish!!!!"- The cornbread is good because all cornbread is good but even with a rest. com cert I would never go back-yuck!
