On our drive across Wisconsin, we thought we'd seek out a little local place for lunch rather than typical chain restaurants or snack places along the highway. A Google Maps search on my iPhone found Bonnie's, so we took a chance and drove the few miles off Hwy 29 to Bowler. I'm so glad we did! Bonnie greeted and served us herself, and was delightful as she gave us some local history and told us about the fun decor -- mounted animals from local hunters, crafts and artwork from locals, and a fascinating wall of historic photos from the area. And the food is terrific. I was tempted by her pork roast special, but wanted to go lighter for lunch, so I had a chicken breast sandwich. Tender, juicy, and delicious. My brother, a hamburger lover who has lived in Paris for over 40 years, so he's very discerning about the quality of his meats, was blown away by how tasty, juicy, and perfectly cooked his burger was. No frozen patties there, but a real 1/3-pound of good ground beef. My French sister-in-law was equally impressed with her "Victory Burger," as was my mother with her club sandwich, one of Bonnie's specials. Do yourself a favor and get off the highway for some real local ambiance and a great meal.

We chose Bonnie's on the basis of Yelp reviews. We agree. The people are really friendly and real. The food is real, too. We had bacon cheeseburgers with terrific old fashioned smokey bacon. Yum. Also had onion rings and sweet potato fries. Both were really good. Finally, my mom forgot her phone on the table and they tracked us down before we had gotten five miles down the road. Worth the drive from Wittenberg where we are staying.

Good people. Very inexpensive. Extensive menu. Great drinks! Just to give you the vibe, expect a lot of camo and when I was there they were selling hunting knives and cross bows at a table next to the dining room. Don't be afraid! Skip their fish fry's and head for the burgers. Bonnie herself was working and checked on our table several times. Her daughter was our waitress so really a family joint. I told her I found her on YELP and she said "on what?" Will go back if we ever get back to Bowler.

this place is actually on WEST Main Street. it was funny how much driving around this tiny town we did before we located it. jalepeno burgers were our favorite! reassuringly clean, nice restrooms. very family-friendly, nothing like those dives that you are used to in the country. very helpful staff, expressing regret at only having two daily pies available by dinner time. peach and cherry! thumbs up on the peach pie by the grandkids. salad, fries ok. but those burgers were so good, 5 stars overall. no cheddar cheese available as a substitute for american. taxidermy and hunting/fishing decor cool. grandpa identified a sturgeon spear.

Small casual Bar with Great people, great burgers, and a very Clean atmosphere. First of all, this place is in the middle of nowhere. But that being said if your are out in this area, this is the place to go. I actually drove all the way from Wausau to eat and drink here a second time...on purpose! So that is saying something. Granted, if this were in the heart of a city, I might give it 4 stars, but you can't beat it out there. The bar wraps around the corner of the T shaped restaurant, with tons of table seating. Every time I was there, the entire place was sitting at the bar. They have a pool table, a jukebox, and a few games. The Bar's selections are a little bit limited but what they have is super cheap. A decent variety of Bottles and even some of the newer choices like, at the time, Bud Black Crown. They have about 4 draft selections and 25 liquor choices. Bonnie herself was sitting at the bar when I was there the first time and she was wonderful. This rang true of all the staff and servers. My Various Meals: Victory Burger (a must have) Cheese Curds (a must have) Frisco Burger Fresh Cut Fries
