I've been here quite a few times. Our first visit started as a near bust. The service was spotty and slow. We ordered but still had not received our drinks. Thankfully, the manager/owner was outstanding and saved the day! Honestly, that experience was my first there and had it not been for her we would no have returned again. Instead we have been back and I've taken out of towers there. I moved her from Milwaukee, which has many awesome restaurants and a lot on the river. The Rock gives me that home again feel. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great mgr/ owner. My only gripe is the music selection is not so good. I'd vote country or current of anything except slow music. Check this place out, food is awesome! My favorite is the Buffalo chicken sandwich...it's just the right spice.

Every time i come through Beloit,Wi, this is a must stop. I've had a variety of meals here but the best so far is the is the bleu cheese burger. It come with bacon, bleu cheese, tomato, onion and lettuce. The burger was cooked to order and with a choice of side. The waitress wasn't all that friendly but she did her job. Plenty of beer specials I will definitely be back.

Got the appetizer platter and loved all the items on here. It comes with artichoke dip, chips, wings with your choice of sauce, potatoes skins and cheese curds. Normally, bar food I've had in the past is greasy and the food doesn't seem to be cooked or fried evenly. Usually you'll get a deep fried item that's greasy and dark on one side than the other, which means they don't take care of the fryer and it's cooked unevenly. This was not the case, the cheese curds were cooked evenly and were a nice golden brown. I recommend trying them. I got the hot classic buffalo sauce on the wings and they were pretty good if you like wings. Very comparable to your TGI Fridays wings. For my meal I had a cheesy badger burger. The beef was very tasty and cooked properly. The burger was put together well because near the end the burger was not falling a part on me like some places do. If you put the tomatoes near the bun, it soaks it and then it falls a part. They didn't do this, which was great. The burger also wasn't greasy and leaking of grease. Another plus! For a place claiming to have the best burgers around though, the burger wasn't that amazing. I threw some ketchup on the cheese and it made the burger fall a part. Not sure why that happened, possibly grease? Overall, the food was pretty decent for a bar. The service was a bit on the small side. The waitress come over frequently for drinks and such, but after she dropped the food off we had to wait a while to find her. We wanted to pay our bill and leave. We had to wait on her to come back. It was a Saturday at around 1-2pm when we went. There was only 2-4 other people in the place so I'm not sure what she was doing.

I've been here close to 50 times for work lunches and social gatherings. I like the food and the staff is pretty friendly most of the time. I wouldn't go here with larger parties because it tends to take awhile to get your food. If it's juts you and a friend, you should be fine. The food they offer is your basic bar food, nothing really special. They do offer sweet potato fries, which I think is a nice option. The beer on tap has a nice variety, but they don't have very many specialty drinks.

Well I decided to come back after a year and try the fish fry on Friday. I wasn't impress with fish was ok a little moist what ever that means. Coleslaw was some of the worst and fries were not that good. I will not come back.

Very disappointed on this trip to The Rock! As we entered about 715 pm we were told it was going to be a 20 wait. That was not a problem with us; as we wanted to sit outside for the FireWorks. On our walk to the outdoor Tiki bar to wait I was able to see 1 6 top, 7 4tops and 2 2tops empty. That is 10 empty tables and we were told it was going to be 20 Min? While waiting we watched as several parties sat at tables and were eventually told to get up. It did take a full 45 min to get a table after we finally complained to the hostess. When we were finally seated there still was many a table open where we could have sat when we walked in. Their table plan was not very good and they we not watching to see what was open. Our Server was one of the Trainers (Laurie) and was very conscious of the delay we had and very nicely took care of us. As to the food it was the general fare for here. It was Hot and came out in good time. Thank you Laurie; but shame on the management for (Staging the tables the way they did). It reflects badly on the staff when the management don't think they (the servers) can handle tables being thrown at them. What do they expect for a 4Th of JULY NIGHT! More servers!

Best. Burger. Ever. Service was great too, and the view of the river from inside where it's warm on a frigid day is nice. But the burger is worth the trip from just about anywhere. The burger itself is thick, juicy, and the flavor is exactly right. Top it off with some old fashioned Cheddar and Bacon, add a side of very fresh crinkle cuts, hot not greasy, and a pretzel bun that for a carb hater like myself makes it worth those precious bites. All in all it's pretty much burger nirvana.

Very disappointed. Waitress service was very slow. The only thing slower was the food service. It took over 40 minutes for our food to come out. There were only 3 in our party. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger and got a Bacon burger. No BBQ. How could u forget that. Definitely not a signature burger. The only thing they got right tonight was the bill. Go for the drinks and atmosphere, but not the food.

Pretty decent place to come to. There's a good mix of family atmosphere and sports orientated.

On the river. In the summer beautiful place to sit outside and eat and watch boats on the river and the sunset. Good food and live entertainment.

As a person of color I felt very uncomfortable with the staff because they seemed to be serving the white people before anyone else. If I could take back anything it would be the way the waitress looked at me and my friend I went with who is also a person of color. It took them 20 minutes to get our drink order and 2 hours to get our food. It was not a busy day and we were one of the few tables occupied. I will never waste my money on poor service and unequal treatment. Also food is subpar and very small portions and for a bar that's a problem. -15/10 would not recommend.

Brought here by a local when I asked to dine somewhere quintessentially Beloit. Gorgeous view of the Rock River waterfront, which happened to be almost flooded when we were there. Great food, great atmosphere, great service! Prices a tad high and the place happened to be empty-ish, otherwise it'd be 5 stars! FOOD - 4 stars ===== Prices are a little high, but then again I'm from out-of-town and the food is delicious!! For appetizer, my fellow diner and I shared the CHEESE CURDS for $6.99 (obligatory Wisconsin snack), which were fried, came with ranch and/or honey mustard (upon request), and almost squeaked in my mouth. Then, I ordered JAY'S FAMOUS HOT HAM & SWISS SANDWICH which came with a side (slaw, but I wish I'd upgraded to sweet potato fries for extra $1) and I devoured even though I was overfull. Very delicious! SERVICE - 5 stars ======== Seated immediately by a friendly waiter named Joe, who was very prompt, always refilled our drinks as if by magic, and it wasn't even uncomfortable when he joke-complained that we got quiet whenever he showed up (I'd like to think it was because our mouths were full!). ATMOSPHERE - 4 stars ============ Love the Beloit memorabilia and historic photos everywhere; great vibe to the decor. Wish the place hadn't been so empty and quiet on a rainy Tuesday night, but what the heck. I heard the place is more crowded on Fridays (fish fry) and during the summer they have beach volleyball tournaments on the court behind the restaurant.

The food is just okay. There are way too many signs cramming the place and making it look cluttered. The best part of this place is the service (we were there Saturday late afternoon, had a gentleman server with a lot of sass. LOVED him!) The beer list is also pretty phenomenal.

I've never had a bad meal at the Rock. I like it. Only problem is service time. We go for lunch from work, it takes an hour & half to two hours! Come on, we are obviously women from an office. We don't have 2 hours for lunch. But the food is always good! Go for dinner or a Saturday lunch, sometime when you have time. Additional review - The Rock updated it's menu, removing many items. The ladies I work with now will not go there for lunch because one of the things removed was the cobb salad. Cobb salad is pretty much a staple in salads. Not sure what the thinking was behind removing this item. Personally I'm fine with a chicken Caesar or chef, but girls want what girls want. Put the cobb salad back on the menu... Just sayin. Some additional info - You can't get just palin old regular french fries anymore. They come with cheese and beef or something all over them. I like just french fries. Someone ordered the chicken Ceasar salad... they got a wedge. Oh well, if you want it chopped or Romaine, you have to specifically ask for it. I ordered the Chicken Ceasar... that implies Romaine, chopped, NOT a wedge. The restaurant is absolutely horrible now! They are trying to be an upscale Chicago restaurant. Come on Rock... you are a sports bar in Beloit. Get over yourself and you'll get your customers back. Right now, I would rather eat at Burger King, at least they do it MY WAY and not some froo-froo thing they think I want.

I have been to "The Rock" many times over the years and have always had a great experience. The patio is incredibly nice with the wide Rock River looking more like a lake. Food has always been really good but was disappointed on our last visit as we saw the nachos were no longer on the menu. Hopefully they will be returning soon. The Rock also makes for an excellent sports bar year round with many TV's and an expansive & open dining/ bar area.

I have loved the Rock historically, but we went there last night hoping for a steak sandwich or Mushroon and Swiss Burger to find they do serve those no more. In fact the menu is doen to a few items, and we left without having a meal. When we asked when the good menu items would return we were told NEVER. So, not planning on going back, which is really a ashame.

Was 100% satisfied with my experience at this restaurant! I went with my boyfriend on Saturday evening. We were seated quickly and in an area of our preference. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. She told me about $4 martinis and recited the tap list (with no eye-rolling) for my boyfriend. Our food was prompt, despite the large party occupying the bar. Our food was delicious - he got a burger and I got a sandwich. I will be going again!

There are times that I shy away from places that appear gimmicky or replicas of the Shenanigans bar in "Waiting": obnoxious signage, super-sized menu, etc. The water--the Rock River, to be exact--was the initial draw to the Rock Bar, because, in other ways, it appeared to have all of the aforementioned. But, I was proven wrong, yet again. When will I learn that not every place should be judged by its appearance? I am trying to recall where I heard that. Hmm. Ha. My fellow diner and I had a very pleasant experience. Our server seemed a bit shy, from her being soft-spoken to little eye contact, but it in no way was she rude. The food made me forget about anything else, even if I had thought her service off-putting in any way. I ordered the grilled tuna wrap without the aioli and upgraded to the sweet potato fries. I was leary about ordering the tuna at a place that does not specialize in seafood, but I went with my gut. It turned out to be the best decision. The tuna was prepared properly and had been marinaded in a delicious balsamic and spice blend. With the addition of the crisp romaine lettuce and ripe tomatoes, the tuna shined. There was a great combination of sweet, tangy, and fresh flavors that proved my gut feeling. The Rock Bar came through, and they did so even more with their sweet potato fries. I have tried my fair share of sweet potato sides, and these were crispy on the outside with that tender inside that people want in a fry. I NEVER finish my meal. Never. I always set myself up for taking a half of it home for a leftover lunch the next day. I did not get a doggy bag at the Rock Bar, because I devoured my meal. Write that down, and then take a nice, leisurely drive to Beloit. Not only will you have beautiful river views, but you will also learn why this Yelper did not come away with a to-go box.

The Rock is Beloit's local version of Applebees. The food is good and the all you can eat fish fry on Friday is very good.
