So let me tell you about my worst restaurant experience EVER. Started out with a 25 minute wait, no big deal. My family and I eat at Cracker Barrel restaurants all the time and know that it's a popular restaurant and sometimes we will have to wait. What we did not expect was that after we were seated it would take another 20 minutes for a server to even acknowledge that we were there. I will say this, our server had a huge table that she was taking care of, so I understand that she may have been a little flustered, but she could have easily told us that she would be with us in a minute or asked another server for help, but no, we just continued wondering if we fell through the cracks. At one point she saw my frustration and gave me the "be there in a minute" finger. I felt like giving her another finger back, but I continued to wait "patiently" instead. Finally another server noticed that we were still sitting there with our menus folded up ready to order and asked our server if she needed help with any of her tables and our server pointed to our table. So now we finally have somebody to help us. Our new server (I'll refer to her as server number 2) impatiently took our order. I'm not sure if she was irritated with server number 1, her job in general, or with us for "bothering" her, but she was clearly frustrated. So now our order is finally placed and we began to patiently wait for our food to arrive. We waited and waited. Other tables who arrived after us began eating and we continued to wait. We hadn't seen server number 2 for at least a half hour. Finally after close to an hour our food arrived thanks to our new servers, number 3 and number 4. (How many Cracker Barrel servers does it take to deliver a meal anyway?). They forgot a side of pancakes, but brought them out fairly quickly afterwards. Never once did any of our 4 servers ask us for a refill on our drinks. Server number 2 only showed up as we were finishing our meals and asked if everything was ok. She was only going through the motions though, because she didn't wait around long enough to hear our answer. It's probably a good thing, because I'm sure we would have only made her day even worse at that point. Needless to say, we won't ever go back to this Cracker Barrel location on our future trips to the Dells. I don't care what type of day you are having a server, the customer should never know it. We didn't contribute to your bad day in anyway, why should we have to suffer? I understand that server number 2 was doing server 1 a favor by helping us, but don't take that out on us. We believe in leaving big tips. We know that servers live off tips but this was the first time we didn't leave a tip after leaving a restaurant. It was that bad. Please get it together Cracker Barrel. Not for me, because I won't be back, but maybe you can at least keep your future customers happy.

I do usually enjoy the Cracker Barrel, especially for lunch and dinner. That fried okra is unparalleled, the store is fun to poke around in, and you can't beat the rocking chairs on the front porch. We came here for breakfast today, though, and it was a bit underwhelming. The waitress was working hard, but the kitchen seemed to forget about half of our orders, and they combined some of our orders on one plate, which was just awkward. My dad was paying for our group and needed to leave early; he paid, and after he walked out, we barely saw our server at all. I guess she got her tip and didn't care to really help us out anymore... The food was not great. It wasn't horrible, but... the grits were runny and bland; the sausage gravy was mediocre... no one really oohed and aahed about the food. I guess it is what it is. We'll probably stick with Mr. Pancake when we're in the Dells again.

Always consistently good!! Food and service were great!!! In a tourist town it's great to find a place that's a great value, good food and warm, efficient service. Go here whenever you're in the Dells. You'll be glad you did!

Cracker Barrel never disappoints. It is my go to place for breakfast on my annual trip to the Dells in October. We go to breakfast about 7am, and the place is always empty. Servers are always friendly, food is always fresh and out fast, and prices are always great. This morning I had biscuits and gravy with country fried chicken, hashbrown casserole and scrambled eggs, for just $5.99. Gotta love their Old Country Store when you first walk in. It is always fun to walk through and look at all of the fun stuff. And, they have a huge selection of candy, many that you would have a hard time finding anywhere else. Always excited for my yearly trip to the Cracker Barrel!!

I'm usually very happy with Cracker barrels but this time was horrible. Me and my family went to this Cracker Barrel and I ordered what I usually order Moma's pancake breakfast and I specifically told the woman extra butter and syrup then she came with our food so I'm thinking where's my extra butter and syrup I decided not to say anything because she might have had too many things to hold so I waited about 5 to 7 minutes so she comes back and makes sure everything's ok and I said where's my extra butter and syrup she said I'm sorry let me go and get it so I wait about another 5 to 7 minutes and again she comes back to check on us I said where's my extra butter and syrup so then she decided to get an Attitude and say it's right there!! After that I found out that my aunts food was burned and the kids said there food was overcooked as well. I go to the dells a lot and have never had this much trouble!.

I rely heavily on yelp when I travel. I usually don't review restaurant chains or read reviews for them because I know they all SHOULD be the same. My family and I love Cracker Barrel. We are from Illinois. We eat at Cracker Barrel almost once a week. This is the worst restaurant experience I've had in a long time. The wait was 20-25 minutes for a table, which wasn't that bad. The problems started when we sat down. It took another 20 minutes for someone to even come over to our table. The server assigned to our table had 2 large parties. She saw we were getting frustrated and gave us a hand signal to let us know she would be right over. Another 5 min passed and finally another server asked our server if she wanted help. Then she took our order. She was the worst!! She took our order then we never saw her again. I guess she thought she was only helping our server with the order part and nothing else. It took an hour for our food to come. I swear I would have left but my kids were starving. Never got drink refills or anything. This is the first time I've went to a restaurant and not left a tip. I would NEVER go to this Cracker Barrel again. I would not recommend. They get 1 star but that's only because yelp is making me give. Otherwise it would be none.

Breakfast here is amazing Pancakes are excellent, I stick with the buttermilk pancakes, yummy What makes Cracker Barrel is the syrup. Make sure you ask for extra little bottles of heaven to pour on your pancakes. Beats most places like Perkins have crappy fake syrup. Nothing beats pure maple syrup. Grits :D

We came here for dinner while visiting the Dells for a long weekend. It was terrible. This place made the IHOP down the road a bit look like fine, elegant, 5-star dining. Maybe they were understaffed or they're not trying hard to be a place for dinner? The floor was a mess, in dire, dire need of a sweep. Many tables in our sight took a long time to be cleared and were left dirty for 10-15 minutes. Out of the three of us, two of our orders were wrong (no special requests to them, right off the menu--one even off the kids menu). We ordered breakfast for dinner -- the pancakes were undercooked & battery. Pancakes came first for one meal, and when eggs arrived, hash browns missing, plate slid at us. Not sure if CBs are independently or corporate owned, but if an owner/manager saw the state of affairs that night, he/she would be/should be furious. Maybe the place was just having a bad day, but too many gaffes for one meal, no matter how inexpensive ($10/per person). Won't go back. Ever.

If you're a Latino, Hispanic, Black, or any type of colored person, do NOT go to Cracker Barrel, Wisconsin Dells, WI. It was such an uncomfortable dining experience. It seriously ruined our vacation. We were the only colored people there, which was fine until the waitress threw the plates at us (and only us) and gave us dirty looks; she literally almost jammed my 2-year-old boy's fingers when she threw the plates from a foot above. The food was OK. I don't know if this behavior was a result of the current political tension in the U.S. due to Arizona's SB1070 law. Even if that were the case, people should put that aside and join each other in harmony when eating a meal.

Not a big fan of Cracker Barrel but my husband is so we had lunch here. Word to the wise - only order the chicken and dumplings. Everything else I've tried here, past and present, wasn't very good. At least the bill was decent.

Cracker barrel is always a go to place for breakfast, or lunch. Staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. For what you pay here you sure do get a lot of food. I always try and get the dumplings as a meal or on the side. DELICOUS!! If you are a fan of home style food, then you must go here!!

The wait staff did not care about service at all. Placing and receiving order took over and hour. The food was way over priced for what you got and tasted so bland. I couldn't believe it, every other Cracker Barrel I have ever ate at was great. But this one was awful. I guess that's what the Dells does to a place. Will not return.

I had no idea what this place was?!! I thought it was a store, which technically it is but it's also a restaurant. As far as the menu it seemed like every other item on the menu had Grits and biscuit with Gravy. Hey I'm all for trying new stuff, but biscuit with gravy just ain't my idea of a hearty breakfast. So I passed on the grits and biscuits, but the pancakes were OK. The shop has the most unique stuff I've seen recently other then TJ Mexico that is. For a quick and cheap breakfast and if your on the road I would recommend this place, but I wouldn't go out of my way that's for sure!!

First time eating here and the experience was positive. We were a large group with a lot of small kids and our waitress was amazing. She got everything correct and anticipated all of our needs. I appreciate that as a young family. The food was good all around. Easy, great place to eat while staying in the Dells.

This place was worth the visit! If you stay at the Kahlahari especially. Right down the road. We had the gamut from eggs to pancakes and even chicken nuggets. All good. Loved the hashbrowns. Not greasy. Seemed like home cooking not slathered in grease like some breakfast joints. They give you little bottles of hot syrup for your cakes! Kids loved it. Would go back.

This place is great! Even the minute you walk into the place, the place is bustling with people and decor. Chairs outside, you walk through their shop with full of cool knick knacks, then you get to the restaurant. Friendly staff and good service. A good range of food and prices are fair. Would go back :)

I've heard the Legend of Cracker Barrel from friends for years. They rave about the food. We had a party of 14 and, while service was lackluster at best, the food was excellent. Since there were so many of us we ate across the menu (sandwiches, entree's, breakfast, specials, dinners) and everyone raved about the food. We were staying at the Kalahari and, rather than eat at some of their resort restaurants we were really glad to come here instead.

Best food ever! Server really nice always made sure we didn't need anything (we were a table of 5). Everything came out right on time/food was nice and hot very delicious. The cost is low, we're stopping by next time we're here...

Horrible. I usually don't review chains, because they're all the same, and everyone knows by now how horrible - or great - they are. But this was awful. The food was cold, and had no flavor. My sausage & cheese omelet was rubbery cheese and cold eggs. My hash browns were greasy and not at all "browned." My boyfriend's breakfast looked like a disaster, a slab of ham meat, and a mess of other items, including biscuits and gravy that he said were terrible. And our waitress that looked annoyed we were even there. I asked for hashbrowns w/out onions. Had that been a problem, I would've opted for something else. Instead, she rolled her eyes, sighed and said she could melt cheese in them. They literally melted a slice of swiss cheese onto the hash browns. If you can't substitute something, don't offer. I'll just switch to the other option, it wasn't a huge deal. I'll never go to any Cracker Barrel again. Avoid at all costs, and go to Mr. Pancake instead. That place is amazing. Or just go to Dunkin Donuts.

I've only eaten here for breakfast. I looked at the menu and don't think there would be anything I'd enjoy for lunch or dinner. First of all this place gives you a RIDICULOUS amount of food. My niece ordered the 2-pancake kids breakfast and probably only ate about 1/8 of 1 pancake. They also smothered it in whipped cream and cherry sauce, which if I would have known that I would have told them not to. I also only would have ordered her 1 pancake or better yet, just had her share my order. On top of our breakfast orders they also came out with a basket of bisquits and jam. Very good but way too much. I liked the pancakes but my husband said they tasted like they were fried. I enjoy coming to Cracker Barrel but only on rare occasions as it is a little too indulgent.

Typical Cracker Barrel chain franchise here. That said, its great for a cheap, hearty breakfast. I got the Country Boy Breakfast that had sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, grits, biscuits, and gravy for about $7 and juice was another $2. The service was quick and friendly. The general store was just like any other CB. If you're new to CB, go for breakfast skip lunch and dinner.

You can always count on a great breakfast at a Cracker Barrel. This was no exception. Food was great and our server was friendly and attentive. We were seated quickly with no wait time. My husband has to start his day with a big breakfast and the menu choices are perfect for him. There are items that can be ordered on the side if you don't want the full breakfast.

I love going to this place. It's the only place that I know of that has a shop for a waiting area. We didn't have to wait to long to be seated. Our waiter was really fast and polite. Food is always amazing! Best place to get breakfast food!

I told myself I would never come back, but maybe breakfast would be a better experience NOT. Don't come here during summer service is too slow or maybe our waiter just didn't care, no tip for you buddy. Changing out the silverware once a month would be nice also.

Great place to eat breakfast. Our waitress, Sandra, was FABULOUS and did the best job I've had yet in a waitress. The food was great, the sausage was an acquired taste, but the rest of the food was GREAT. If you go here ask for Sandra, she is extremely accommodating and friendly.

This is a regular stop for breakfast on our trip to the Dells each year, since we don't have any near where we live. Great breakfast for a great price. We've had consistently good food and service at this location. Me and my son really like the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon meal (you can choose a different meat too) and I want to say it's around $5. The man child loves the country ham, and always gets a side of it with whatever meal he's in the mood for. We also love the little peg game that they have on the tables while waiting for our food. They also have a checker board or two around the restaurant that I've seen people playing. The store is filled with all sorts of treasures to peruse through on your way in/out as well. My only complaint is they don't have waffles (more my son's complaint than mine).

Enjoyed sitting next to the warm fire when we stopped in early on a Sunday morning in January. To be honest we weren't even sure they were open (big tall highway sign wasn't lit up) and when we drove up there weren't any cars out front but it turns out they open at 6. We arrived at 7 and were greeted warmly as we were the first customers for the day. The big advantage of being the first folks at a restaurant is the food comes out really quickly; not quite fast food fast but close enough to make it worth an early morning stop if you are passing by). We were in and out in under 25 minutes. They serve all the typical American and southern classics for breakfast. I got the pecan pancakes-3 large pancakes loaded with pecans. Each order comes with a small bottle of real maple syrup. Decent breakfast at a decent price.

We come to the Dells every year and always come here. It's the best for down home cooking! The bestest!!!!! For sure get the fried apples as a side! Or breakfast all day :) We always get stuff from the gift store as well. We just love this place.

I do not know why people come to eat here. The food is so disgusting. Just terrible. The coffee is very weak too. I had an egg sandwich - not hard to mess up right? Wrong. Under cooked eggs, lackluster bread, and a glob of mayo not mentioned in the menu. I opted for a side of fresh fruit instead of the hashbrown casserole or fried apples (way to make a healthy side and ruin it...) Yet they still gave me the hashbrown casserole. Why did they have to make it into a casserole? What's wrong with simple hash browns? My boyfriend got the chicken fried steak... The dish was even nastier than mine... And again undercooked eggs.

Elizabeth R.
Sometimes I love this place, sometimes I hate this place. My hashbrown casserole was a burnt. And I hate that they give you your check while you are still eating. Ugh. Otherwise, the value is decent. You can order a huge meal for $8 or just piece together a breakfast with everything you want. It appeals to any kind of eater. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The best part is that it is located in the same parking lot as the Kalahari. Affordable breakfast after the pricey Kalahari.

If I had written this review on any of my prior visits, it would have been a stretch to give them two stars instead of one (wrong orders, horrible service, waiter who doesn't know the menu, long wait times for us to get food, negligent staff, etc). However, the last visit, they redeemed themselves somewhat! Our waitress was REALLY good, and the food was delicious :) We ordered something like the hungry man's breakfast that came with biscuits, fried apples, hash brown casserole, ham, sausage, and bacon. Oh and grits. It was a LOT of food. To be honest, my mom and I probably should have split. The ham was WAY overcooked (I couldn't really even bite into it) and the grits were meh, but the rest was pretty good. I LOVED the fried apples, and my favorite part of any Cracker Barrel meal is the hash brown casserole. Mmmm, I don't know what it is about that block of deliciousness, but it gets me every single time! It was $16 before tip for the both of us, so it was pretty cheap!! If service is always like this, I would come back!

Normally a cracker barrell fan and really have never had that big of a problem except at this location. We went on a Tuesday, there was no wait so we were seated right away. Wasn't very busy but yet we sat there for 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there. The waitress asked us both three times to repeat our order and still didn't bring out the right food (twice). And the food, that is normally good, was anything but good. I ordered the chicken and dumplings. They were very VERY liquidy and to top it off... They put my has brown casserole on top of the liquid mess. Yuck. Never going back to this location and I'd advise you to do the same. Only getting one star for the manager apologizing twice and giving us one meal for free.

Always good food and friendly service. I just love the store portion for the nostalgic candies and I always seem to get a good deal at the register on their discounted items. This is a normal stop for us when we are in the Dells area and will definitely be back!

I am a fan (not a rabid fan but a fan) of Cracker Barrel because I think they're definitely a notch up from your local Denny's or other nationwide chain (though more rare I think) but this location had some pretty bad service. Granted, I went here on a busy Sunday for brunch and ended up waiting 45 mins for a table (for three) and after we were seated, the server took awhile to get to us. Now, don't get me wrong here, our server was polite and cheery (or as cheery as you can get when it's a madhouse) but she consistently forgot our orders, brought the wrong items out and didn't stop by our table until the check was due. I know she had other tables to wait so I don't necessarily blaming her, but maybe the store could've anticipated the rush (Labor Day Sunday brunch) and clocked in a few more servers. They probably would've have had a higher turn around rate and made more sales with more customers because even after we were seated, there were a ton of people waiting for a table outside. Honestly, if we weren't so dead set on eating breakfast foods, I would've totally been fine with going to another location that had better service and a much shorter wait time. Parking: Big lot Price: $12+ per person Wait: Too long

It had been years since I had been to Cracker Barrel & the last time I was here was this exact same location in Wisconsin Dells. I came here with my friend for some of their country cooking. We sat down, the restaurant was not too crowded which was pleasant. Our waitress came took our order & was very friendly & nice. I started off with a Sweet Tea. The sweet tea was surprisingly good. For breakfast I ordered The Biscuits & Gravy. I also ordered a side of Dumplings because they had a sign about their famous Dumplings. The food arrived & looked pretty good. The one complaint I had before eating the food was that the portions looked pretty small. The Biscuits & Gravy had enough biscuits but only a small portion of gravy. The gravy was enough but I would have liked to have a little more. The portion of Dumplings were small in a tiny bowl. I don't know if this was just a side order they gave me or the regular portion but I ordered it & that was what I got. The food tasted pretty good. My Biscuits & Gravy had a good flavor to them & The Dumplings were delicious. The one problem with the food was that it was not hot. When I think of Biscuits & Gravy I think of it nice & hot, like the biscuits just came out of the oven & the gravy right off of the stove but that was not the case with this meal. I would have liked to have given this place four stars because the food tasted good to me, however my friend did not like his at all & he ordered Biscuits & Gravy as well. Between the small portions & the food not being hot I think three stars is what I would settle on. I would still eat here again the next time I am in Wisconsin Dells.

I LOVE Cracker Barrel. The food is always good and reasonably priced. My group got all their food and twenty minutes later I still hadn't gotten mine. Waiter said they "forgot" to make mine, so I had to watch everyone eat...and they were about done by the time my food FINALLY arrived. Annoying. The waiter was the only saving grace, he was apologetic numerous times, when it wasn't his fault but I got the food for free after he saw how unhappy he was. The manager never stopped by to see if all was well which didn't quite sit with me. Two stars are for the waiter alone. He can run the place better himself!

I LOVEEEEE the Cracker Barrel!!! Great food for great prices. Went there today with a large group, and did not have to wait long for a table. The waiter and waitress who took care of us were very good. Friendly and definitely efficient. Also, I am a huge fan that they let us take their coffee to-go in a travel mug. Score!!!

CB is by far and away the restaurant that my family eats at most often. The Dells Store is our closest one so it gets visited the most frequently. If you like good southern cookin', then this place is for you. I ALWAYS get a double order of greens with my meal (they'll make you cry!) and usually get the fried catfish or the chicken fried steak (yes, they do have healthier meals...bur whoever said southern cookin was 'lite'!!!). The only reason I'm only giving 4 stars is that in all of our visits we've never been able to get our biscuits and rolls earlier in the meal (more like an appetizer like CB used to do it) even though we request it every visit. Not sure why that is the case here??!?!?! All in all, after easily 100+ visits, we've never had a 'bad' meal.

Chicken Fried Steak! What more do I need to say? Great food, great service!

Love the good country cookin, great comfort food with a nice cozy athmosphere. Always a good place to stop.

Realy good food, we whent here on our fist night and it felt like home!!! try it when ur visiting the dells

(4)Nate C.
I love going to this place. It's the only place that I know of that has a shop for a waiting area. We didn't have to wait to long to be seated. Our waiter was really fast and polite. Food is always amazing! Best place to get breakfast food!
(5)Pedro R.

First time to a Cracker Barrel and was disappointed. Biscuits were not fresh, sausage patties tasted freezer burnt, and the napkin smelled moldy. Staff was pleasant.

(1)Elizabeth R.

Stopped in with friends for breakfast. Probably partially my fault. But I had higher expectations for food here. The service was great but the food not so much. It was just ok. A step down from denys. Again my opinion. But for the price plenty of choices.

Glad we stopped here for breakfast food was absolutely awesome.. Definitely coming back

(1)Rebekah H.

This was the cleanest restaurant with great friendly service. Best Cracker Barrel we've ever been to. Food was well prepared and presented! Employees were cleaning parking lot and glass windows. VERY IMPRESSED.

(2)Brianna B.
