Charming restaurant and very historic. Good: Service, cheese fondue, and trout Bad: As soon as we sat down, our server started listing the things from their menu that were not available... no white fish, no short ribs, etc. And then when we ordered baked potato as side dish, they were out of those, too. How do you run out of baked potatoes? Anyway -- cheese fondue was delicious and trout was cooked on a wood plank. Probably would not revisit.. Pricey and just OK.

Beautiful restaurant with a friendly attentive staff. Enjoy the charming atmosphere with your mouthwatering meal. Fish cakes are fresh from the water with a hint of heat. The broiled fish was delicious with a light seasoning not overpowering the delicate flaky flesh. Great restaurant just a few blocks off US2.

Definitely 5 star. Very creative menu. Popovers were perfect. Planked whitefish was succulent. Best dinner of our 10 day road trip.

Came for a drive and will be back! The food was prepared to perfection in a beautiful setting. It is a hidden gem that serves a mean old fashioned only two blocks off main drag. Stop by and see for yourself. You will be delighted

It is an adorable and historical space with very friendly staff that seem over-stretched. My friend is a vegetarian and they didn't have any real veggie dishes and they were very accommodating to her and made her something she just loved with the veggies they had. It was really my meal that was the problem. I ordered chorizo risotto which was basically undercooked rice, cheese, and polish sausage passed off as chorizo. I liked the cheese but for $20 a plate, it was a bit overpriced. Additionally, several menu items were unavailable or somehow altered. It seems like it has potential to be a great restaurant, the menu and consistency just need work.

A hidden gem. I was looking for having a special dinner, and the food elevated our night. The entrance is a little cramped, but the classically historic interior welcomed us home. We started with a couple appetizers. Lake Superior Fish Cakes came three on a platter. Each fork full was perfectly flaky and well seasoned. Whitefish never tasted so good. The Wisconsin Cheese Fondue was just as satisfying. The fondue was smooth over each delicious bread cube. Our next course included two soups. Both the wild rice and the French onion had a depth of flavor to satisfy our appetite, but we continued with one entrée to share. Seafood risotto had two buttery smooth scallops on top of the creamy risotto that was full of sweet shrimp. We had no room for dessert, but we'll be back.

I had the mushroom risotto and it was clumpy and crunchy. The small portion is not worth the $18 price. I would not go back.

Lovely building, very disappointing food and wine. My friend ordered a merlot and I ordered a Cabernet and they were the same wine. Not only that but it was bad wine, and $7 a glass. I ordered the fondue and a soup, which were adequate, and my friends got the risotto and maple-planked trout. Both of those were OK, not great, and certainly not worth the over $20 price tag. I can't recall what the other two people in our party had, but the consensus was that it was ok but unremarkable. The wine thing was even slightly offensive.
