Very good American fare, not so great waitress. Visiting Ashland for the second time on business; this was very close to my hotel. I was seated right away, and got coffee and water quickly. Was given a menu but getting the teenage waitresses to come back to take my order was tough as they were pretty busy chatting. I ordered the chicken dumpling soup and a Reuben. Both were very good and hot. They both arrived very quickly. Only complaint on the food was that the Reuben was not served with any dressing. I think it would do them well to better train waitresses, or hire women who are a little older, able to make eye contact and at least minimal conversation. The mood in the restaurant was a little off-putting. Can't really put my finger on it. Was going to order a piece of pie but watching a young girl with long hair cutting pies with no hair covered, and no gloves grossed me out. No apron. Just wiped her hands on her pants. Yikes.

A favorite of my wife's 87 year old great Aunt, and that's why I've found myself here about three times in the last two years. I just can't bring myself to tell her that this place is horrible. After this last trip, I don't think I can stomach another trip here so I'll either have to tell her or lie and say my stomach hurts and grab some Burger King in town because that's gourmet cuisine compared to what they serve here. First off, home cooking? The only way this is home cooking is if you live in a soup kitchen. I'll give the waitstaff credit for being quick, but any credit was quickly taken away as this waitress brought a bowl of salad dressing for my wife's cousin to the table WITH HER THUMB IN THE DRESSING. Absolutely disgusting. I wanted something like a lumberjack breakfast because I had a long drive ahead of me on this particular day. I ordered eggs sunny side up, ham, pancakes and potatoes. The eggs were so runny, I should of dressed up in a gray sweatsuit, played Bill Conti's "Gonna Fly Now" and drank them out of a glass. The ham, which in swear they said it was "Ham of the Bone" came to me looking like a piece of Oscar Meyer Bologna and it was tougher than a two dollar steak. What's even more weird is that a took a bite of the pancakes and they were rubbery too. How can you mess up a lumberjack breakfast? Even Denny's can make a simple order like this. We ordered a small kids meal for the little one with a sausage link and we wondered why she wouldn't eat it. I took one bite and this link was so tough as well it would have been a choking hazard if she actually bit through it and I'm not even trying to be funny about that. I'd rather break a damn near 90 year old woman's heart than to eat here again. I think that best sums up this restaurant. There are plenty other better restaurants to eat at in the immediate area.

Excellent service. Very generous home cooked meals at a reasonable price. Will come back as often as we can when in Ashland. Save room for dessert.

Good ole home-cooking. Nothing out of the normal here. The food was good but not spectacular. Would be back if I needed a quick bite. Waitress was friendly, wait time was non-existent, and fries were yummy.

I used to think this was a good place to eat. But on 9-30-2013 I had a waitress follow me out to my car as I was getting ready to leave to inform me that I did not leave a tip for her. Unexceptable! Will not be returning ever.

Great place to get a good home cooked meal when you find yourself away from home. I ordered the hot turkey sandwich and soup followed by desert with apple pie and ice cream. All very good I recommend them all

This restaurant is awesome. They serve home made food that is absolutely delicious and the portion you get for the value is amazing. Their staff are courteous and professional. Their pies are out of this world good. I believe this is one of the better restaurants that has come to Ashland, Wisconsin in many years.
